santa rosa west. west, southwest at fair to do. southwest, southwest at concord. novato says east. west, west, southwest. you get the idea. it will be a breezy day. higher clouds to the north. but they almost clear out pretty quick. light rain on the north coast. 40s and 50s on your temps. and stay 50s and 60s to 30s up in the mountains. this system will not have much too it but it will set the stable for a breezy, cooler day. windy at times especially along the coast. we to have a report of a crash there. but this time at the bay bridge toll plaza which was reported somewhere in the middle of this

backup here. i don't see it on the commute but it could be in one of these lane lanes. i want to take a look at that here. if we go to the mccarthur maze traffic will be a little slow coming around the corner. steve mentioned the crash free hospital southbound 880 near thornton avenue. that crash is blocking lanes, backing up into union city. i also want to mention southbound 680 heading down to sunol grade is slow. and 580 itself is going to be slow as we continue to look at the commute here. let's go up to 580. go back there. westbound 580 slow. we have a lot to work with and we'll give another update. let's two to brian flores live in richmond.

latest here is that bart police have wrapped up this part of the investigation at least. we're getting a live look at bart tracks. the corps was here earlier declared the scene clear roughly after 5:00 this morning. according to bart, the body was found just after 1:00 this morning by police officers who did a security sweep normally at the end of the night for bart. at this point the body is of a man. other details remain unclear. it looks like the man jumped from the platform and hit by a train. fen we continue to work details but at least for the commuters out there, that leave from richmond bart station all trains are moving through. there were no significant delays. keep in mind this is a multiple platform for amtrak as well.

we of course will provide updates on mornings on 2. back to you. we have new developments in the strange kidnapping case out of vallejo. a new e-mail from the alleged kidnappers obtained by the chronicle is demanding an apology from police today or else. tara moriarty is joining us now from vallejo police and tara, what is in the e-mail? what are the kidnappers threatening to do? >> they are threatening harm. they sent the chronicle this e- mail with a vailed threat and tell police apologize specifically lieutenant kelly park by noon or we may be the direct agent of harm. police are not commenting on this latest expect development. we know the chronicle is saying it's received a series of e- mails from someone claiming to be one of denise huskins' abductors saying her ordeal was real and they wanted to clear

her name. it was an orchestrated event and huskins and her boyfriend aaron quinn were involved. the e-mails include several details about the alleged kidnapping. the center claimed responsibility for an elaborate car theft. huskins showed up at her father's home in huntington beach the next day unharmed. now coming up find out why the center says the ransom was set at $8500. by many accounts a lot of people said that was a very low number so coming up in the next half hour, find out why this senator says that was the case.

live from vallejo i'm tara moriarty. back to you. >> this seems to get more, more interesting. we are getting details of the procession route for the police officer killed in the line of duty. the procession will start in los gatos, it will travel through campbell before ending in san jose. officer johnson will be laid to rest in a private ceremony. along the procession route, the police may set up rolling street closures. this may effect traffic in the area. officer johnson as you know was shot and killed one week ago responding to a 911 call about a suicidal man. police in san francisco detained a man threatening to hurt himself after a four hour stand off. it started about 6:45 last night at a home near lion and

haze streets about a block from the golden gate park panhandle. the 44-year-old man was the only person inside. after they made contact and communicated with the man, police say he surrendered about 10:40 last night he was taken to the hospital for evaluation. the backlash gets growing against indiana's controversial religious freedom law which allows discrimination against gays and lesbians. gap and levi strauss has issued this joint statement. republican lawmakers in indiana who pushed the law through are now scrape scrambling to reform it because of all the criticism. >> and to the extent that we need to clarify through legislative action that this law does not and will not be alowed to discriminate against anyone. we plan to do just that. >> this weekend indianapolis is

man hunt is under way in virginia for an inmate that escaped from a hospital with a gun. police in falls church say the inmate over powered a private security guard and fired the gun. at least one shot was fired but we don't know if anyone was hit. this inmate is being held on bank robbery charges. he was only wearing a hospital gown and no shoes when he got away. it's believed he stole a car at his attempt to get away. 1400 criminal cases handled by san francisco police are now under review because of allegations of errors that the city's crime lab. dna criminalist are under scrutiny. this all comes as the crime lab

a facebook apology has turned a mother from warm into the latest internet celebrity. it happened after her mother found out her teenage girls were out of control. she wept on facebook and apologized and asked the woman who rep remanded her daughters to please come forward so her daughters could apologize to her. the woman did come forward. her name is rebecca boyd. >> the real hero is her. it's miss boyd. and the reason i say that is because she took it upon herself to correct my girls. her husband just had been laid off and it was the last movie she would be able to take her daughter to see for awhale.

had are in the clearing stages but unfortunately the damage is already done. let's go to 880 southbound at thornton avenue. they are moving that crash out of the way. it was just minor injuries but the damage is done. one of those toll lanes is taken away. it's not taken away huge we're not adding a huge delay to the bay bridge. hopefully that will be gone soon. as we look at a live picture of highway four if you are driving on highway 4 pittsburgh and bay point is where the slow traffic and 680 you still have a small window to get out from concord to walnut creek.

we have a little bit of a pattern change. windsy at times. gusts of 30 plus for some. west at oakland. west at santa rosa. due west. west, southwest. it will pick up for mountain view and san jose. our system came by a dry front expect for on the north coast. there are few holding on for the morning hours. 40s and 50s. holding up the temps. waiting to see if this northwest breeze will give us a little up welling.

welcome back to mornings on 2. a north bay boy escapes with cuts and scrapes but that is after a truck crashed into his bedroom. this is from santa rosa. the 11-year-old was asleep early monday when a pickup truck lost control, slammed into the house. the truck hit his bed and threw him across the room. the boy wound up in the closet. his mom tells the paper it's a miracle her son survived. the driver was arrested on felony hit and run and drug charges. did you hear about amazon? amazon has a new feature that is called amazon home services. it helps customers find

electricians, plumbers, housecleaning services and almost 700 other kindsover workers. amazon says last year 85 million customers bought an item that needed service like a car stereo that had to be installed. now it will help shoppers find someone to do it. but mashable chief correspondent says for this to with b a success, amazon has to screen the companies they recommend. >> and you are trusting people saying point to the house. we don't know a lot about their system. >> few amazon says its service providers they will have to compete for top billing in their fields through customer ratings through price and other factors. amazon will get a percentage of what the service provider charges and promises to help resolve any disputes between customers and the people providing those services. facebook employees have started move into the company's massive new building in menlo park. frank designed the campus.

dismantled in san jose. and homeless advocates say it's causing problems. today they will be calling attention to what happened to the camp known as the jungle since it was broken down by city employees. ktvu fox 2 janine de la vega is joining us live now from san jose. so what is this all about? what is going on janine? >> reporter: dave, i have spoken with several people who used to live in the jungle who are now staying at the temporary cold weather shelter here at the lucardo center. tonight is the last night that the emergency beds here are going o be available. a lot of people have no idea where they are going to go next. advocates say that is just a small portion of the homeless people who are wondering the streets. they are holding a news conference at noon today at the former sign of the jungle at story and center road to talk about it. nearly 300 people were living in makeshift tents city workers cleaned up the encampment saying living conditions were

dangerous. since then the homeless members have been moving from place to place. during another recent cleanup, organizers tell us that homeless woman was injured while cal tran was bulldozing their tents. >> there is a hot will of people that need -- there is a lot of people that need help. they need to have more -- even where they used to have the shelter. you know. put it to little sheds or something. you know. anything. so we can go and be safe for awhile. because us women can't be out on the street. >> every time the city cleans up on encampment outreach workers have been brought in to help clean up. advocates are asking today for

tonight to work out a frame work of an agreement. reportedly they are pretty close to ending their latest round of nuclear talks with a statement that has no specifics but it will allow the sides to move on to the next tase of negotiations. they would then have until june 30th to come up with a final agreement. coming up in 25 minutes, we'll bring you a live report on the negotiations under way. families of the victims in the germanwings plane crash in the french alps are still holding out hope that crews will find their loved ones remains. authorities say they have been able to identify 78 remains. 150 people were on that board. crews are saying all of the victims may never be found due to the violent nature of that crash. lufthansa announced it assures they are setting aside $300 million to deal with the possible cost resulting from the crash. last week the company offered immediate help to up to $54,000

to passengers of relatives of the victims. based on data from the cockpit voice recorder the co-pilot locked the captain out of the cockpit and deliberately crashed that plane. oakland teachers are planning a rally today. they call it for the march for the schools oakland students deserve. they demand school funding be allowed for student supplies not for high level administrators. they also want smaller class sizes. especially for special education class sizes. the march is expected to arrive at the oakland school district headquarters by 4:30. hundreds of people turned up for a march in san francisco to protest the archbishop controversial morality clause for teachers at four catholic

yesterday's bizarre incident at fort we'd where two men smashed a stolen suv into a police car outside the gates of a national security agency. authorities say these two young men spent sunday night at a nearby motel with an older man and then sold the man's car yesterday morning. now somehow the men ended up in a restricted exit at the campus of the nsa. the driver ignored police commands to stop and instead sped up crash into a police car. that is when police opened fire. one of the men died there at the scene. the other was rushed to the hospital. the nsa officer was also injured in the crash. investigators say the man may have been on drugs. police say they found cocaine and a gun in their suv. two federal agents who helped investigate the infamous silk road incident are charged with stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars during the

investigation. carl force made his court appearance in maryland. investigators say the under cover agents also tried to sell government information to albright during that investigation. >> that makes them witnesses that are pretty problematic to put on the stand. unless the prosecution has other investigators that it might choose to bring on, this might damage the case. >> it's not clear if these charges against the agents could effect albright conviction in new york. he is set to be sentenced in may and still faces a charge of murder for hire in maryland. police, parents, and students in hayward they are on alert after a string of attempted kidnapping. the most recent one happened friday. a man forced a 16-year-old girl into the backseat of a white car. he pulled a gun on her but she struggled and escaped. now police say there have been two other attempted kidnappings

near is the high school within the next six weeks that may be related. >> we would like people to walk home together from school. kids to walk home together. to be careful. >> right now hayward schools are on spring break but when the students come back next week, the school district will hold assemblies on how students can protect themselves. ) to the same virus that caused severe respiratory infections in children last year. by the end of last year more than 1100 people tested positive for that virus. ucsf researchers say a new strain appears to have mow stated to become similar to polio raising concerns about

future outbreaks. researchers say further studies are needed. happening today marin county supervisors will hear from you the public about reducing the speed limit for bicycles along part of the mill valley sausalito path. right now the speed limit is 15 miles an hour. but a lot of walkers say the cyclists going that fast or even faster is a safety hazard. last week the board of supervisors approved dropping the speed limit to 10 miles an hour along a part of that path. now they are considering expanding the lower speed area. supervisor damon says there is virtually no, ma'am opposition to that idea. tomorrow by the way is the start of distracted driving awareness month for all of the month of april the chp will crack down on drivers not paying attention to the road.
