oakland. in and around redwood. 65, 66 san jose. 65 for napa. the cooling trend will continue and as we said at the start wet weather on the way. ly break it down. tell you what it means coming up. >> thank you. new this morning the alameda county water district will host a community meeting to discuss the drought. the governor ordered a mandatory 25% reduction in water use. today's meeting will discuss the drought, water conservation and a proposed fee increase. the alameda county water district services 340,000 customers. the forum starts at 2:00 2:00. the governor's order is prompting some homeowners to call in consultants to look for ways to cut water use. we went out and followed a tech in pleasanton. they went through a 68 point

checklist including hoses, outdoor water spouts, sinks and faucets. >> turn them on, off, make sure there is no dripping. high pressure is what causes them to drip. that or hard water. >> toilets sprinklers and hoses are some of the most common problems. even a slow leak inside the toilet could waste five to seven gallons of water a day. analysis of cities and water districts showed they will have trouble meeting the governor's 25% cut back. the mercury news reports only 14 is of california's 412 largest cities and districts reduced use by that much last year. if they don't reach the mark this year they could be fined up to $10,000 a day. the summer said it'll give a break to areas that have cut back use dramaticly and to give you an idea of the dispart among cities the news report that the average person in san francisco uses 45-gallons avenue water a day.

everybody in the room. we just felt they can move on with their lives to do something positive. >> as part of the settlement they agreed to speak publicly about the dangers of alcohol and sexting. a man is in jail accused of an attack on a homeless man. video showed the victim on a bucket outside a baron larkin street wednesday night. then a man walked up and with in warning strikes him on the head with what investigators believe was a metal pipe. the video helped them identity the suspect. arthur lee jones of fairfield. he was arrested late thursday night when he went back to the same core under where the assault happened. >> to see such a horrible crime take place where someone struck him in the head like that is uncalled for. i'm very glad we are able to catch him. >> jones faces charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. police have not disclosed a motive. the victim received 50 stitches to his head and he remains in

critical condition with unestablish vital signs. >> happening load independent -- load indianapolis will host the final four. the university of kentucky hopes to take one step closer to an undefeated season and the championship. they are the first team in men's division one basketball to go 38-0. today they will face the badgers. the other game is duke against michigan state. duke and kentucky are both five point favorites. the winners will advance to the championship on monday night. police will increase security at the site of the final four. lucas oil stadium. gay right groups are planning to march through downtown indianapolis and then rally outside the stadium to protest the new religious freedom law. despite revisions they fear it'll still allow businesses to discriminate against gays. demonstrators plan to fly a banner as well before the game

that reads discrimination is wrong. san francisco, oakland and berkeley mayors among leader who have denounced the religious freedom law. they have called for boycotts of the state and encouraged businesses not to do business there. they tell the bay area news group that this area is proof that people can diverse backgrounds can work together no matter their age, gender or religion. not a lot but bragging rights are on the line today when the giants take on the a's. they have split this weekend's bay bridge series so far the a's won on thursday. the world champs won last night because of the posey three run shot. christina is live outside where the third and deciding game will be played. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning. you know we made it through security and now we are just deal -- the only ones out here

the stadium is empty but it's all about to change in a couple of hours because we expect the oakland athletics booster club to show up. that gives them four hours to tall gate before the first pitch is thrown out. probably one of the most anticipated thing that fans want to experience and see this afternoon are the new scoreboards and ribbon boards installed during the off sea season. the main displays mirror each other. bigger than the last board. these measure 36 feet high by 145 feet wide. the ribbon boards will rehabilitate sections of the stadium. you will get a good view no matter your seat. this is all about a better fan experience. >> our fans are amazing. they came out no matter and they loved what they saw. the fans out right field went crazy for it. now when you see yourself in full hd and you can see the

over to a drug cartel. it's believed the cartel killed them and burned their bodies. families and friends are visiting 43 american cities to demand the united states pressure mexico to investigate what happened. the group of parents and supporters will march in san francisco's mission district at two this afternoon. their justice care van will stop in santa rosa on tuesday. >> it's time to look at the front pages. these are the stories making headlines. the big story on the washington post this morning is the attack at the college in kenya that least 148 people dead. the headline reading stunned kenyans feel painful aftermath. extremists are warning of more attacks in kenya similar to the one at the college. this morning the medical staff say they have found another survivor of the killings at the university two days after the attack. the person had been hiding in a

cup board since thursday. the attackers separated christians muslims, killing the christians. the pope sent a telegram to the families of the victims. the front page of the globe focus cans on -- focuses at the boston marathon reading chaos kudos and criticism a new report released yesterday called the overall emergency response to the marathon bombing a great success. however, it revealed that some police officers fired in the water town shoot out with the suspects. the first officers who confronted them acted appropriately but a swarm who followed failed to identity their targets before firing. the report also praised the medical system which ensured that police and emergency workers quickly treated those who were injured. the bombings killed three and injured more than 260 including a young boy. and down in los angeles the

front page features the newest edition to the nfl reading sarah thomas is ready and set to make nfl history a source said that the nfl told current officials that seven men and one woman were selected as new hires for the 2015 season. sarah thompson would be the first female official. all of them will have to pass physical exams first. being the first woman at different levels is not new for thomas. she worked for conference usa in 2007 and in 2009 and became the first woman to be an official in a bowl game and has been in the ff -- development program and worked a pre-season game last season. >> that's amazing. >> i remember growing up i always loved football and thought it was unfair that girls couldn't play. they can be officials. that's good. >> i imagine -- she looks small. imagine having some bigfoot ball player come at you because he is angry about your call. >> or just -- sometimes those

day. just not as warm as yesterdayn. to sunday we wake up with scattered showers over parts of the north day. perhaps drizzle along the coastline and as we get into the south bay we are starting automatic dry. this is going to maybe move in from north to south. it's moving in the peninsula. south bay looks dry. to plan your easter sunday let's change you start out with rain over parts of the north bay but the south will take a little while. by 11 or so we have it over the central bay beginning to slide close america to san jose and looks like the rain line wants to move through. this could change up a little bit but looks like bin the second half of the afternoon we will start to see a break with partly cloudy skies and that chance for a shower but not like what we are seeing for the morning. the best chance for rain will be between seven and about one in the afternoon. sliding north to south. temperatures will be on the cool side.

we are looking at mid40s to about 50 as we start the morning and will end the afternoon in the upper 50s to low 60's. in addition to those showers we will see sierra snow. levels down to about 3,000 feet and there is a watch in place for the sierra along that west slope. you will have to take it easy if you plan to drive out there for the weekend. rain totals for us from a few 100ths to a quarter inch. we are not down a second system monday into tuesday. right now napa35, 41 palo alto. 57 fremont. wide range out there. just check it out. 64 san ralph allege. the extended forecast with the bay area weekend always in view. partly cloudy for today. showers arrive for tomorrow especially through the morning. we get to taper off for the second half of the day. bit of a lull on monday. monday fight into tuesday. more rain on the way and that will produce from a half inch to an inch of rain.

take a look at this video. it shows three people stealing an atm from a gas station there walnut creek yesterday. one of them in the red hat appears to distract the clerk just about 5:00 a.m. a second suspect wearing a black hoodie then attaches a cable to the outdoor atm . that's when the driver in the ford pick up hits the gas and rips the atm from its mount. they put it in the back of the truck and take off anyone who recognizes the truck or suspects should call.

a woman who drive across the golden gate bridge is facing thousands of dollars in fines. she blames it on a clerical error involving fast track and the dmv. she said she changed her address with the dmv and fast track after she moved two years ago but they kept sending her invoices to her old address. she never received them and didn't pay the tolls. she said she tried to pay the tolls a few months ago but they had been compounded with fines. >> so when i called and went in it was already to late and it was a $4,000 worth of dmv holes and charges. >> last week her car was towed since she couldn't afford to pay the fines she decided to give it away to a friend in order to get it back together. the women were able to get her car back but it still cost her $2,200. the toll authority said it shouldn't be hard to resolve. she said she is now considering

federal corruption charges. yesterday the another officer became the second to resign over the texts. >> certainly to have a member as high ranking as a captain was particularly disheartening. >> 14 officers in all were investigated. texts sent by six others don't warrant a call for termination but the cases being referred to the police commission that can make a decision about firing them. pope led the way of the cross certify money in rome for good friday. friday this -- people from syria, iraq, egypt and nigeria took turns carrying a cross. tomorrow the pope plans to celebrate easter mass at saint peters square.

discuss the ongoing record drought. the governor announced unprecedented water restrictions the form will look at the drought. current water supply level its, water conservation and a proposed increase in a b eye monthly service charge. the alameda county water district covers 340,000 customers in fremont, and union city. it starts at two in the afternoon. only 14 of california's 412 cities and districts reduced consmall by that amount last year. if they don't reach the mark this year they face fines of up to $10,000 a day in the summer. the state will give a break to areas that have already cut back use dramaticly and to give you the idea of the d isp arity, the average person in san francisco uses 45 gallons

writer in college and then -- i -- to be honest i couldn't think of a better thing to do for research for six years. >> then being on the streets. >> and seeing what -- humanity and -- just -- so many extreme stories. >> when did you leave? >> 01. >> then you got a break and you got into pixar and worked on the film cars. >> yeah. we -- my wife and i write together and we got lucky on our first at bat. we hit a home run. now we are sort of -- you know trying to just -- do it on our own whale did you learn from writing in cars in >> pretty much everything. it was like film school . we were there for two years and in animation everything goes so slow. i was able to learn the process all the way from start to finish. now we are just applying that to our films and live action.

they make more than 6 million pounds of its nest eggs and jelly beans. no basket is complete without eeps. they have been the number one selling nonchocolate item for more then two decades. some visually impaired children got to take part in a special easter egg hunt. they are studenting at the alabama institute for deaf and blind. having disabilities can make it harter for them to enjoy traditional activities but these oversized beeping easter eggs give them a chance they never had before. >> we love to give the opportunity for our children with disabilities and their families to come out and have the same opportunity as everybody else does. >> they were developed nine years ago by a special agent with a blind daughter. since then the association of bomb techs and investigators has provided the funds needed to make them for the hunts.

gender or sexual orientation or even religion. san francisco police say they have caught the man accused of brutally beating a homeless man. he was sitting on a bucket wednesday night. this video is a little bit disturbing. i want to warn you. a man walks up and with no warning, vehicles the victim on the head with what investigators believe was a metal pipe. police say the footage helped them identify the suspect, 35- year-old arthur lee jones of fairfield. he was arrested late thursday night when he went back to the same corner where that assault happened. >> to see such a heinous crime like this take place where somebody struck him in the head like that is uncalled for. i'm just very glad that we were able to apprehend him. >> jones faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. police have not disclosed a possible motive. the victim received 50 stitches to his head and he remains in critical condition with unstable vital signs. a settlement has been

reached in the audrie pott wrongful death case against two teenagers. 15-year-old audrie pott committed suicide in 2012 after three boys sexually assaulted her and took pictures of her as she was unconscious. one teen and his family settled with audrey's parents last month, the other families agreed to pay the family $950,000 and for the first time, the young men involved accepted responsibility and they apologized. >> they offered sincere words of apology in open court to the family. and it was well received by everyone in the room. and we just hope that they can move on with their lives to do something positive. >> as part of the settlement, the teens agreed to speak publicly about the dangers of alcohol and sectioning. the alameda county water district will host a community meeting this afternoon to help the public deal with the state's record drought. governor brown ordered

jose. mostly sunny skies. 50 degrees. we have a storm on the way. when that rain is expected to arrive coming up. thanks rosemary, somali extremists are warning of more attacks in kenya similar to the one at garissa college. kenyan medical staff say they found another survivor of the killings at the university two days after the attack. officials say that person had been hiding in a cupboard at the college since thursday. the attackers separated christians from muslims, executing the christian students. the pope sent a telegram of solidarity to the families of the victims of the attack. several events in the bay area to honor a group of missing mexican students who are presumed dead. their families have been holding numerous rallies across mexico since the 43 students disappeared last september. they were protesting abuses by the mexican government. investigators say a corrupt mayor ordered police to round the students up and turn them over to a drug cartel and investigators believe the

take a look at this surveillance video. police say it shows three suspects stealing an atm from a gas station in walnut creek yesterday morning. one suspect in a red hat in the middle of the screen, he appears to distract the clerk, this is around 5:00 a.m. while he's doing that a second suspect wearing a black hoodie attaches a cable to the outdoor atm, the driver hits the gas, atm ripped from the mount, they put it in the back of the truck and took off. police want anyone who recognizes the truck or the suspects to give them a call. a woman who commutes across the golden gate bridge is facing thousands of dollars in fines. cherise benton blames it on a clerical error involving fast track and the dmv, she changed her address with the dmv and fast track after she moved two years ago, and they kept sending her invoices to her old address. since she didn't receive the invoice, she never paid the

it will be the last time the two will meet before the season begins. each team has one win under the belt, and as baseball season gets underway, we're finding out which teams, ally, are catching the most support across the country. >> facebook has created a county by county map of baseball fans for the 2015 season. it takes a look at teams nationwide and determines which are the most popular. >> exactly. and it's based on the number of likes per team. the yankees kind of have the strongest following throughout the country. >> they're in the black! and mexico, and also in utah. giants and dodgers, kind of dominating the west out there. there's a sliver of angels as well as the padres down in southern california, but like at all the royal fans. so there. i kept thinking a little orange. >> they didn't win the world series but they got there. >> trying to recruit giants fans out there in kansas and missouri, but maybe not. >> i don't think that's

>> great. >> go a's. >> a lot of excitement, giants and a's fans, that's what it's all about, battle of the bay. and this game starts at 1:00, and these fans are excited to check out the score boards inside the stadium. we got a sneak peek at the score boards earlier this week, and this is going to be a really big deal. these score boards are a lot different than what we saw in the past. they have the main displays that are mirrored. they're on the right and left field corners of the stadium. definitely bigger than the board that was there last year. these measure 36 feet high by 145 feet wide, so you're going to get a view no matter where you sit inside the stadium, and there's also ribbon boards that are going to wrap around the sections of the stadium as well. the a's tell us this is about a fan experience. we spoke to a fan excited to see the score board installs. >> we drove by a couple times and saw them like putting them in. it's kind of like building up to the excitement too.

discriminates against gays and lesbians. the alameda county water district will hold a forum to discuss the drought. this is to inform the public about current water supply levels, conservation levels and a proposed service charge hike. the meeting runs fromming it to 3:30 -- from 2:00 to 3:00. an 8-month-old chihuahua motorcycle accident was burned -- was burned and dropped off. he was tortured, suffering burns on his stomach and ears. because of the burn injuries to his ears, the puply will need to have him amputated. they have named him fireman, and if everything goes as plan, he could be ready for adoption in four to six weeks. a volunteer at the animal shelter says the way he reacts to humans right now suggests that he has had a bad experience. >> another reason i think he might have been tortured, he goes into a defense mode and he

happy saturday to you, giving you a live look at a beautiful view over the bay. we have the golden gate bridge in sight. you could gaza at that all day long. we have big changes coming our way, if you like this, get outdoors and enjoy it. what you see now on your screen is what is to come, the system now off the bc coastline, going to be shifting south as we move through the next couple of days and it is going to bring us two rounds of rain. the first is going to start as early as tomorrow morning. so let's get into your easter sunday and we'll track this for you. two hour by two hour time frame here. 8:00 tomorrow morning. scattered showers, over the north bay, as well as the central bay, along the coastline, by about 10:00 or so. it doesn't look like it's going to shift a whole lot, so we'll continue with the wet weather, over the north bay, the central bay, but take note, portions of the south bay, san jose south, you have mostly cloudy skies and mainly dry. by 1:00 it finally begins to shift into the south bay and begins leaving the north bay, by 3:00 or so, it's further south, moving into the valley,

be here. >> you have not only sweets but savory stuff. >> i have to tell you, the sweet i have made told is a spin off my highest scoring dessert that i made in las vegas. >> so what is it. >> my easter morning banana wrap. you grill your bananas first, they're brushed with a little bit of butter, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar, and then they are grilled and what the grilling does, it just creates this nice caramelization on the banana for another layer of flavor, wrapped in cinnamon bread dough. how hard is it to do something like this. i'm not a big cook, is this an amateur dish. >> definitely amateur. i'll have you put this one together. this one is a little more difficult, but don't be afraid to make your own bread dough, it's easy, it's fun, you are allowed to make it premade if you want. if you buy premade, roll in cinnamon. >> the dough has been brushed

with butter, cinnamon and sugar, brown sugar, wrapped around the banana. this is my homemade caramel sauce. that gets drizzles on the top. >> that smells good. let's move onto some of the other. >> this is super easy, the pan has been rebound with butter, a a layer of croutons, next is the ham. these are just layered in here. this is why it's so easy. look how easy this is to put together. layer everything in here. next goes the cheese. >> a 7 layer dip on crouton. >> stick it in the refrigerator overnight, easter morning, take it out of the refrigerator, bring it to room temperature, bake for an hour and it's ready to go. >> this is simple, you just bake this. and this gets poured on the top. this is the finished product. >> it kind of looks like a quiche. >> it's very similar to a quiche without the crust. it has the croutons so you don't have to worry about

the sports salmon season starts today, and this year is expected to be good despite the drought. 650 chinook salmon from the sacramento river are heading out to sea. that's 17,000 more than last year. commercial salmon season starts on may 1st. a nonprofit organization in richmond is urging parents not to buy their children rehab its for easter. house rabbit society is an international volunteer group in 1988. the group has rescued more than 30,000 rabbits. volunteers say many of the rabbits were easter gifts and according to the group, some people buy rabbits without knowing that the animals require a lot more care and can live more than ten years. >> if you're thinking about bring ago rabbit into your home as part of the family, you want to really do your homework

pictures, all the activities are free once you have paid for a ticket to get into the zoo. that's not the easter bunny. but the fun doesn't stop there. at the zoo, golden gate park is hosting a spring extravaganza. the family friendly event kicks off at 11:00 this morning and continues until 3:00. it will feature not only egg hunting but carnival rides, games and a barbecue cookoff. tickets cost $8 per person. a bike program in san francisco has been so successful it could soon be expanding to cities here in the east bay. right now there are 700 bikes in the bay area's bike share service. a new proposal could increase the number of bikes more than 7000 and expand the service to oakland, berkeley and emeryville. another plus, according to the met poll tran transportation commission, it wouldn't cost taxpayers a dime. >> the private guys are going to come in, find a named sponsor, you'll see advertising on the bikes and the bike
