truck. 5:30 a.m. this morning official say the truck finished crossing the bridge when it hit the center divide and caught fire. it wasn't just people's time but 30,000 pounds of packages, all of it burned. leaving people wondering what to do. ktvu's tom vacar is live near the bridge with the answer. how traffic is looking at this hour. >> reporter: what we see is the traffic continues to move. i reported at 5:00 p.m. all lanes were open. turns out it was only one. cars funneled beyond where we could see. it will be 6:30 p.m. before all lanes are opened unless they run into more delays. the next phase of this is settling up with the customers. many who lost packages in the blaze. >> reporter: best case, a thousand packages were burned

francisco is harder right now since a stretch of van ness avenue is closed. traffic is being detoured this weekend. that is creating delays in the area. muni and golden gate transit buses are allowed to news van ness. it is allowing work on a pedestrian tunnel. it will connect the california pacific medical center hospital with medical offices across the street. van ness will reopen sunday night. three more weekend closures are planned for this year. san francisco sheriff took on two big issues today. an escaped inmate and allegations of staged fights in jails. the fbi started its own investigation into the fights. and he is waiting for word from the attorney general on whether the state will join in. four deputies are accused of staging fights and they have been put on paid administrative leave. >> early indication it appears

butler of sacramento. he should be considered armed and danger. he shot and killed the woman and dragged her body out of the car. he told two other people in the car to take their daughter and he took off. the car was found. anyone with information is asked to call san jose police. vice president joe biden is spending a second day in the bay area. this morning he visited pg&e service center where they train workers. many are veterans. he sat down with veterans in training. he said they already have the special skills the country needs. >> 6-10 jobs in the next decade require something other than high school degrees. >> for lunch he made stop at a grilled cheese shop in san francisco. he talked with the ceo for a half hour about jobs.

what did he order? a grilled cheese, two soups and a chocolate shake. new at 6:00 p.m. another witness come forward following a deadly police shooting involving police. the man who was killed was a suspected armed robber who was armed with a knife. there is no indication the officer used excessive force, recent police shootings have people thinking twice when they see a police confrontation. ktvu's ann rubin has been talking with people and this is a sensitive subject. >> the people say they almost felt an obligation to talk about it because they want to understand why this happened and how. >> he killed that [ bleep ] >> reporter: when the officer reached for his gun, this man reached for his cell phone.

is set to decide on the future of a mobile home park under had threat of being shut down and sold. the mobile home spark one of the few afford -- park is one of the few affordable housing options. the owner has been trying to sell the property and offered residents compensation for relocation. last fall they ruled the compensation amount is reasonable prompting an appeal by resident. on monday they will hold a hearing and issue a decision. >> 1,000 bay area workers will be getting back wagers. they recovered $6.8 million for workers who weren't paid according to labor laws. the violations happened at residential care facilities and nursing homes. they didn't pay the federal minimum wage for over time. 100% of the money will go back to the workers.
