morning. large crime scene still blocked off at this hour. coming up on 6:00 it is a big day for giants fans. we are live at at & t park looking good this morning. the reigning world champions are back in san francisco for their home opener. claudine wong is inside the park and she'll have more on today's festivities coming up in a few minutes. so many people are so excited about this. good morning. once again it's monday april 13th i'm tori campbell in for pam cook. >> and i'm dave clark. let's talk about your weather and traffic. steve is off today but rosemary is here. >> keeping you bundled up for the opening day. >> i'm thinking low 60s and breezy. at least an extra layer. you never know. we have partly cloudy skies outside our door. a little bit of. temperatures in the low 50s and

60s. you have and we are looking at a cooler day for your monday. 43-degrees in napa. 51 in san francisco. we have fog. visibility down to half a mile as well as santa rosa. this will be with us through the morning hours. it will be more dangerous along the morning hours. so that to consider especially over the north bay and perhaps along the coast. here's the reason for our cool down today. we have a system that will be working its way through the west and as it does, it will bring back the on shore breeze. anywhere from 10-20 miles an hour for the rest of us around the bay and inland.

temperatures also coming down. we're talking a lot of 60s and a few low 70s. 71 for concord this afternoon. 69 in santa rosa. 63 in san francisco. you are going to see the giants play again low 60s for today. 67 redwood city. 70-degrees in san jose. so a mild one in store for you. temperatures falling off today. a big warmup on the last half of the week. i will have a look at that coming up in a moment. good morning sal. low 60s and breezy sounds perfect to me. >> thank you very much. >> let's take a look at the traffic elements to today's commute. it will be a little bit tough as you drive this morning. some people are away for spring break. they are back at and at it. this traffic is okay as you head out toward the mccarthur maze. no major problems. this is a look at interstate 880 and the commute looks good as you drive through there. no major problems and the traffic continues to look very

nice. we are off to a decent start. because opening day there is traffic on the bridge and in san francisco surrounding the in and out of at & t park. a busy berkeley -- police investigate an early morning shooting. tara moriarty is live at ashby and shattuck avenues where the investigation into this developing story. >> reporter: definitely the traffic is starting to come. we don't know how long this intersection is blocked off.

>> we are seeing some difficulties when it comes to traffic for people to flow through. about 1:44 this morning there was a shooting that occurred here. you know at this point we know that two male victims in their 20s were injured during the shooting. right our evidence technicians are processing the scene which will take a little while longer as they thoroughly go through everything that is happening. >> reporter: we also understand there was an apartment complex that received some of the gunfire as well. >> yes. during the gunfire that did occur we had an apartment building that was struck and a gas station. >> reporter: so we are not sure whether these two car were shooting at each other or one

good to see you my friend. they will be celebrating even before the game. right? >> reporter: yes. we were just talking about that. if ever there was a game to get here early, this is the game. lots going on today. we're at the ballpark this morning. tough assignment. this is my best assignment ever. take a look at the ballpark. already looks fantastic out here. they have the lights up, they are ready to go. this will be a very busy morning and busy day for baseball. i want to show you this. this is what the first 40,000 fans if they walk in the door first. 40,000 there is a lot of them. i want to bring in stacy who is the senior vp of communications. thank you for joining us. we had a very short post season. we like that don't we. >> we like short off seasons. we will take it any time we can and we are so excited to be back here and start the home season. >> the field looks great. we have a lot in store.

all the fans out there piling up on their gear and their stuff. tell me what is happening today. >> so we have a whole pregame ceremony planned this morning or this afternoon. game time starts at 1:35. we are asking fans to be in their seats by 12:45 because we have the whole series of festivities. we have the ceremonial bringing of the trophies, the raising of the banner and we think it will be a really special day. >> in the off season you have been busy doing a little bit of stuff out here. tell me what is new. for people that come here and they are die hard fans. anything new they can expect? >> we have a whole new food court out in center field. we have tonies pizza and all of the favorites. we have another garlic fries stand. and actually over in our parking lot we just opened a really fun pop up retail area called the yard. and the yard is we have food

trucks, beer garden, north face has a retail outlet there. it is a nice little stop over either before or after the game and there is televisions out there. so it should be really fun. >> so lots of stuff. this is all about baseball. when you talk about coming off another world series win, what does it mean coming back? now we have been here before. we know wham it's -- we know what it's like and just the energy and being back at home. >> it never gets old. you never know when you will go back to a world series. we've had an amazing run. >> reporter: feeling the pressure? >> every year you feel the pressure. there is expectations every year and we want to dispel that whole myth of every other year and go for it this year and the fans are excited. you walk around town and see everyone wearing their giants gear. yesterday, sundays the ballpark

burg ferry terminal. now of course ktvu will have live giants coverage all morning long. we're going to check back in with claudine wong inside at & t park in our next hour. we also have joe fonzi on the field for us. and ktvu will air a one hour pregame special from at & t park. we can't forget the oakland a's. they wrapped up their first home stand of the season bellyings in extra innings to the seattle mariners. but the a's did rally in the ninth. they scored four runs. tied up the game at seven. all started with that two run double by sam fold. the mariners took the lead with this. big home run. top of the tenth they beat the a's 8-7. the a's are now

countdown is on until the next presidential candidate enters the field. this is a look at website of marco rubio. the website is counting the hours until a big announcement coming up this afternoon. just eight hours, 45 minutes way. the announcement is expected to be he is running for the white house. he is believed to be getting ready to announce his candidacy in his hometown of miami. rubio was the son of cuban immigrant. he is considered a strong campaigner and fundraiser but he will have to compete in a crowded field of republicans which is expected to include

his mentor, former florida governor jeb bush. >> every day americans need a champion and i want to be that champion. so you can do more. >> yesterday hillary clinton made her long awaited announcement she is once again running for president. the former second -- republicans wasted no time taking aim at former first lady. >> hillary clinton represents the failed policies of the past. does america want a third obama term? or are we ready for strong conservative leadership to make america great again. >> senator ted cruz was the first candidate to throw his hat in the ring for 2013 on the republican side. he's been joined by senator rand paul. senator lindsay graham is considering a run along with several others.

so far no other democrats have entered the race. according to an iranian new agency jason is accused of espionage. he sold economic and industrial information. the washington post where he works calls the charges absurd and his lawyers say she is asking for a speedy trial. resign was born in san francisco. he grew up in marin and holds dual u.s. and iranian citizenship. san francisco police are still searching for the suspects behind the wheel of a car that hit and killed a woman during a police chase on friday. 42-year-old bridget was in the crosswalk on friday night when a car driven by armed robbery suspects hit her. investigators say during the chase, that car also hit and injured a second person, ran a red light, and hit a car filled with people. no one inside that car was

hurt. police say the four suspects abandoned the stolen car on treasure islands and ran away. the police chase stopped when the officer lost sight of the car. just a few blocks later the corvette crash into the honda civic. police later arrested 20-year- old perez of san pablo. >> we talk with some police officers to find out about the protocol for making a police chase. police chases start in a split second. much like the one friday night in san francisco. police just turned on the sirens when the suspects drove three blocks down a hill and

hit bridget clucker. >> it appears the officer followed policy guidelines and was within policies as far as the pursuit is concerned. >> we reviewed other bay area police policies in addition to san francisco and richmond. all of them are very similar. police officers are allowed to pursue a chase but they have to call it off when it becomes apparent there is a reasonable risk or danger to the public. magnitude 2.5 quake hit the neighboring area of baldwin hills about five hours earlier. there were no reports of damage or injuries. time is 6:19. let's get everybody out the door. hey sal how is the east shore

and everything else looking? it's getting a little bit more crowded. this week will be spring break for others. we've been telling you that it's opening day even if you're not a baseball fan you should avoid the bay bridge throughout the day 23 you can. and that is because the bay bridge and other commutes leading to it have san francisco. do we have a picture of the bay bridge? it's already crowded coming up to the toll plaza. please give yourself extra time as you drive through the area. we have been locking at the commutes in the east bay.

680 is a little bit slow between pleasant hill and walnut creek. it looks good south of the benicia bridge. 6:20 let's go to rosemary. good morning, to you. we have a cooler day in store. we have a system working through the west. as it does it will bring our temperatures down. it will pick up our winds. take a look. there it is there. bringing a little rain into areas like washington. eventually into oregon and to the northwest corner of california. by the time the front reaches us, it pretty much falls apart. we may see a result bit of drizzle. it will be late tonight. i will show you exactly what i mean. 5:00 this afternoon and you notice the rain line just entering california here. with most of this remaining north. as we get into the evening hours it does shift south. take a look at what goes on as it approaches the bay area. just a few sprinkles by 10:00, 11:00 over parts of the north bay and a little coastal drizzle. as we get into the over night

hours it begins to shift. we have a little bit of rain. perhaps a little bit of snow. for us it will be a partly cloudy and a light sprinkle or two as we get into the over night hours. tuesday morning it's already out of here. for today the on shore breeze is back. 40-degrees in napa right now. 52 in oakland and 52 sfo. the fog is back. it's patchy nature. i'm seeing inside the bay along the coast. and areas reporting visibility down to a quarter of a mile. 47 degrees right now at black hawk. 68 this afternoon in novato.

welcome back to mornings on 2. time is 6:26. unbelievable story. two-year-old boy in cleveland lucky to be alive after a really close call at the cleveland zoo. witnesses say the boy's mother was angling him over the railing of the cheetah exhibit. she lost her grip. the little boy fell down into the pen. now his parents immediately jumped in, they lifted the child to safety with the help of bystanders. >> a bunch of the men and my son and i ran up there and we tried to pull the father out. we couldn't get him out of one side. he ran to another side but the wall was ten feet. so he had to jump up and grab our hands and we pulled him out of there. >> would you believe the cheetahs stayed away? they didn't go near the family. that little boy was taken to the hospital for leg injuries. the zoo will file child endangerment charges against the mother today. time is 6:27. 21-year-old golfer jordan spieth won the masters in

record fashion. he is the first -- he shot an 18 under 270. that ties tiger woods scoring record. but he was in line to break the 72 hole record until he missed a five par putt. >> he is the man. we're also learning how popular the a.m. watch is. almost one million people preordered that watch on friday. it also says that 62% of the people bought the less expensive sport model. they spent an average of $382. shipments will start next week but some are on back order until later this summer. >> people want that. it is 6:28. it's a golden gate bridge fixture that has been gone for the past eight months.

from police coming up in just two minutes. stay tuned. good morning. thank you for joining us here on mornings on 2 it is monday, april 13th i'm dave clark. >> good morning, i'm tori campbell in for pam cook this morning. it is 6:31. let's check on weather and traffic. rosemary in for steve. a little cooler this morning. a little breezy. >> going to turn breezy. especially as we get into the afternoon. i have a system that will bring a little rain to the northwest corner of california and for us it will equate to a cooler day. low clouds and fog floating into the bay. we have it along the coastline and some areas over the north bay with reduced visibility. we will check in on that in a moment. so cooler afternoon highs. 5-10 degrees cooler than what we had yesterday and the winds picking up in the afternoon could gusts to 25 miles an

hour. here and now we have the fog. santa rosa down to a quarter of a mile. again take it easy. outside of that visibility looking good for most of us. 40 in napa. going to see the giants play. 62 with westerly breeze. i like this weather. this is san francisco weather. it's not too cold. light jacket adds you said. i think it will be a great day out there. all right thank you very much rosemary. if you are using the bay bridge to get into the city right now

it is crowded and it will be crowded getting into the city a little later on because of the 1:15 first pitch and later getting across the bridge to san francisco and oakland it will be tough. in fact, the authorities have warned us about slow traffic on the bridge throughout the day. let's move along and take a look at san francisco. that still looks good along northbound 101 approaching the 80 split. and south of market will be much more crowded today because of the day baseball games. so just put that back if you work in south of market you know how it gets. public transportation is the best. parking is already more expensive. southbound 680 between concord and walnut creek a little slow traffic building. if you're driving on southbound 680 it looks good. at 6:33 let's go back to the desk. a very busy berkeley intersection. ashby and shattuck remain shut

down. tara moriarty is out there. >> traffic is starting to pick up now that the morning commute has started. we are seeing a little congestion around here. you can see there are two dozen evidence markers here in the street. this was the scene of a shootout just a few hours ago. at quarter to 2:00 this morning at least two men in their 20s in a dark colored car were caught under a hail of bullets in the intersection. and then they pulled over to the chevron gas station. they were transported to the hospital and are expected to survive. the suspects have not been caught. the bullets sprayed into a nearby apartment complex. luckily no one was struck there. but according to reports, one man had a bullet land on his bed. at this stage police do not know if they should be considered suspects. >> at this point there is some

kind of indication -- there is a lot we still have to do to find out exactly what happened. >> reporter: a car was also hit. the clerks window took gunfire. there is surveillance cameras at gas station. also at the enterprise car rental. live from berkeley i'm tara moriarty. back to you. >> we will talk to you later this morning. thank you. time is 6:35. now we have heard the body of a third man has been recovered off the coast after a diving trip took a very tragic turn. rescuers say a group of five men diving in casper cove got caught on rough waters yesterday afternoon. rescuers were able to pull two men to safety. the bodies of two other men

were -- rescuers found his body 3.5 hours later. search crews are expected to be out again at the san joaquin river after authorities say a motorcycle rider fell from the top of the bridge into the water below. brian flores is live in antioch to explain how a car crash played a role in this. good morning, brian. >> reporter: authorities are still trying to put together the pieces. buppies things first the priority is to find this motorcyclist that fell off the antioch bridge. we understand divers will help in that search. the victim in this case is a 27- year-old man from antioch. he has not been identified. however, ktvu has learned he is married and just became a father. the california highway patrol is continuing to investigate but what they know so far is the rider was part of a group of about a dozen other riders just out on the road at 4:30

yesterday afternoon when he collided into the back of a honda sedan. the car had shattered glass and damage to the rear but the driver of that car -- [ inaudible ] >> the vehicle that was involved in it they did see the body go over and there are other drivers that saw it happen too. >> motorcyclists ride as if your life depends on it. be safe and sane and in control of your motorcycle at all times. >> reporter: it's believed the rider fell about 135 feet to the water below. search crews spent three hours yesterday searching for the man. private boaters in the water also helped out. one believes he found the motorcyclist helmet in the water. search crews are expected to be out here sometime later this morning. but i'm sure hopefully they will find some answers into exactly what happened here. we understand the rider was heading home to a barbecue as well. so lots of unanswered questions this morning.

>> thank you. we will continue to follow this on our website. it is 6:38. more than 30,000 pg&e customers in san francisco who lost their power last night now have it back. the outage started just after 11:00 and spread across eight neighborhoods. nearly 35,000 customers were effected in all. it took crews 20 minutes to restore the electricity. that means you still have to reset all of those clocks. time is 6:38. time for baseball. the giants will raise another championship banner before this afternoon's home opener. we are inside the beautiful at & t park. first pitch at 1:35 this afternoon. but there will be a special pregame ceremony. that will start about 12:45. ktvu has team coverage for you this morning.

after several days on the run a man who allegedly killed his girlfriend in front of her children in san jose is now under arrest. 25-year-old andrew butler was captured saturday in salinas. police say butler shot her tuesday while sitting in a parked car.

>> i didn't know him personally. he was always quiet and i knew something was strange because he couldn't communicate with me. they already had some kind of confrontation prior to that. >> gonzalez's family says her 17-year-old daughter is traumatized and will need counseling as for butler we have not yet heard when he will be brought back to san jose to face the charges against him. our time is 6:43. a big change on a very busy south bay freeway interchange was made this morning. a brand new fly over ramp opened in san jose. it's at the interstate 280, 880 interchange. ktvu fox 2 janine de la vega you are there. you've been on that ramp so how is it? >> yeah it's pretty good. it's very different. the new fly over ramp is here right behind me. it takes drivers from

northbound 280 to northbound 880. it can be disoriented so it's important you pay attention to the signs leading up to it. here's what it looks like. drivers will notice an immediate change. the exit to highway 17 is on the left and the exit to 880 is on the right. before it was reversed. once you get on the fly over to 880 it is a smooth transition. you don't have to mix with local traffic. that was the problem before to access 880 freeway drivers had to mix with freeway drivers that wanted to exit stevens creek. >> this san old interchange. it has out grown itself. stevens creek that area has grown. for people to access stephs creek and the freeway on the same ramp was just not working and it was causing a lot of congestion. >> reporter: the vta and cal tran has been working on this project since 2012 and this fly over ramp is the last puzzle piece in reconfiguring the

interchange and improving traffic flow. there is still some final touch to touches that need to be done. they need to pour two more layers. you will see construction vehicles out here but after that it really should be all clear. we did notice it was a little bumpy so that extra layers should help smooth that out. time is 6:45. van ness avenue is open again after being totally shut downover the weekend -- shut down over the weekend. now that tunnel will connect the new cpmc hospital with medical offices right across the street from it. this was the first of three weekend closures. the next one set for april 24th. the iconic golden gate bridge clock it is back above the toll plaza. the eight foot tall art deck koa clock was taken down last

august to rebuild the electric motor and other features. workers began reinstalling the clock over the weekend. right now it's missing its hands. but they will be put back on in a couple of weeks. the work is part of a $2 million toll plaza seismic retro fit project. time is 6:46. let's check in with sal. let's get you to where you need to go. things are picking up. >> yes, it's getting a little bit more crowded. and right now we will start with the bay bridge toll plaza. certainly a lot of people are waiting to get into san francisco. it is a 25 minute delay. there is our spider. we haven't named it yet but we have taken your suggestions on naming the spider. it's obvious it's here to stay. today you are going to be seeing a lot of people spider because it's opening day for the giants and even after the morning commute we will see more people going into san francisco. and he didn't like that so he kind of left there. let's take a look at interstate

880 north and southbound. the traffic looks good as you pass the coliseum. we've been looking at contra costa county because it's getting a lot more crowded now on highway 4 asacria drive over the hill. and 680 is backed up to 242. let's go to rosemary. good morning to you. we have changes in the forecast. afternoon highs will be coming down and winds will be picking up. as we get into late tonight and into the over night hours, a very slight chance at a few sprinkles. maybe a little bit of coastal drizzle. for today the headlines will be the cloudy skies. the cooler conditions and the breezy conditions. this morning waking up with patchy fog. you saw it in sal's live shot. we have it inside the bay and we have visibility down to half mile in areas like napa, santa rosa, and the coast. take it easy this morning. this is the system that is bringing a little bit of rain to areas like washington. it will move into oregon. and then as we get into the

second half of the afternoon, it begins to slide into california. now for us it's only going to bring us the wind and the cooler temperatures. late tonight. if we do get any bit of rain, chances are it will be in the over night hours and we are probably not going to see it anywhere. 14 miles an hour expected outside our door. notice as we get into the second half of the afternoon the winds really start to pick up. 23 miles an hour in san francisco. it could be gusting a little stronger than that at sfo. so for most of us we have the winds picking up anywhere from 10-20 miles an hour and a little gusty at times. temperatures 46 in santa rosa. 51 for san francisco. upper 40s in livermore. san jose you're starting out right about 53. for the afternoon partly cloudy skies. temperatures 5-10 degrees cooler than what we had on sunday. 69 for sonoma today. still a mild day. maybe the wind is going to be the only pesky problem.

67 in castro valley. 66 in st. helena -- in san leandro. 68 in santa clara. 68 for sunnyvale. along the peninsula 67 in wood side. san mateo you will go to 65. 63 expected in san francisco. that on shore breeze anywhere from 15-20 miles an hour at the giants game this afternoon. so a little brisk for those of you heading in that direction. low 60s expected for the coast this afternoon with breezy conditions. behind this system, the winds will continue as we get into tuesday. temperatures won't be changing a whole lot on tuesday. but by wednesday they sure do. we have upper 70s to low 80s for our inland communities. and then as we get into thursday, friday, and saturday mid 80s for our inland communities. and even the coast is going to get in on the warmup. upper 60s to low 70s in the forecast for our beaches. we'll be slightly cooler on

time is 6:53. florida investigators looking into the cause of a deadly crash at walt disney world. it happened at the parks world speedway exotic driving experience. it gives people a chance to drive their dream car on a racetrack. the florida highway patrol says a lamborghini crashed yesterday afternoon into a guardrail. the passenger in the car was killed. the driver is being treated for minor injuries. people in northern illinois still picking up the pieces after last weeks devastating tornado. they are finally going back to their homes to see the damage and salvage what they can. but many of the homes as you can see have been leveled. so they can't drive in there alone. instead they are being taken in by bus. some of the people are getting angry as they struggle to get

answers from the authorities. two people were killed in that storm. 6:54. never before seen video has been released of a deadly police shooting similar to the bart police shooting of oscar grant in 2009. it involves a white deputy, an unarmed african american man, and a stun gun. the video shows a tulsa county reserve deputy chase and tackle eric harris on april 2nd. he was being investigated for rying to illegally sale a gun to an under cover officer. the deputy said he meant to use his stun gun. and in a video you can hear him saying quote oh i shot him. i'm sorry. the shooting still leaves a lot of unanswered questions. >> what kind of gun did he use? did eric have a weapon on him at the time he was killed?
