police are calling this a case of distracted driving. a woman crashed through a fence, slid down an embankment and landed upside down on a slide. nobody was hurt, including her 7-year-old son inside the car. police sited the woman for not having a license, and for driving off the road. and a judge agreed to clear a misdemeanor conviction from sheriff ross mirkarimi's record. he was accused of domestic violence in 2012. mayor ed lee suspended monsoonal moistureler mutt -- sheriff ross mirkarimi but a motion to remove him failed the board of supervisors. >> i believe that this is a

new at 5:00 p.m. san francisco officials are looking for ways to better protect older apartment buildings from fires. ball one proposal is to -- one proposal is to require sprinklers. ktvu's rob roth is live at city hall where there was a hearing today. >> as it stands now buildings built or apartment buildings built before 1970s are not required to have sprinkler systems but a committee began looking at whether that should change. >> reporter: fire ravaged this apartment building last january. one man died, a half dozen

injured and 50 people lost their homes. the building when no sprinkler systems. building codes don't require them in older buildings. now leaders are looking into whether the codes need adjusting. they began looking at ways to make them safer. >> sprinklers in a structure fire will curtail the fire. >> reporter: under codes buildings constructed after 1970 must have sprinklers. but making changes to older apartment buildings without sprinklers city wide would not be easy. >> because paint situation or asbestos you need to watch those areas. >> the cost could run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars dollars and displace tenants during a housing crunch.

the crash that ended his life happened after 2:00 a.m. saturday morning as he was driving home from work. police say a speeding dodge slammed into his car. it was a disturbing scene for neighbors. >> i couldn't sleep. saturday night. i could still see the scene in my head. you wake up to that noise. you jump up. to the sound. >> reporter: this morning you can see there are flowers and a candle left behind at the scene of this violent crash. after the impact the car that slammed into him remained that scene but neighbors say they saw the driver take off running. that person remains on the run and his friends are hoping the driver decides do the right thing. >> right now the family needs help. they want closure of what happens. police give them that. >> one person's actions could

we have an update to a story we brought you over the weekend. the fish tank that exploded in a restaurant. the fish tank, watch this, burst apart saturday night. the glass shattered. sending 100 gallons of water and 7 fish pouring out. 3 fish died but 4 survived and the owner posted this picture on social media yesterday. itsies happy ending to the exploding aquarium. the survivors were adopted. this is one of the survivors. in 24 hours the doctor's medical center will close. the staff will stop seeing patients at 7:00 a.m.
