we are live in mountain view where firefighters are on the scene of a deadly fire. you will hear about the challenges that firefighters face and you will hear from neighbors who tried to save a man trapped inside. new details we are learning right before sheriff's deputies opened fire on the driver tonight. morning on 2 continues. well this is been a big story all morning since 4:00 this morning in mountain view. you can see crews are still on the scene. it was a deadly fire early this morning coming up in just three minutes. our janine is down there talking to neighbors. we'll hear more of the challenges firefighters face when they got to the scene. amazing story this morning. thank you for georgetowning us this thursday, april 23rd, i am pam cook. >> good morning, i am dave clark.

>> let's check with weather and traffic. >> pam does not want it to be too cold. >> too bad. >> it is cold for some especially near the coast. it has been june since coastal locations cooled off. ocean temperatures full-timely cool off to where they should be and this cool air mass really allowed those temperatures to settling in. napa at 50. that's at the airport. loek oakland at 52 and pacific at 49. las gatos at 49 is not a big deal. the thunderstorms this year is going nuts. today, all the way to the south. 43 and 45. even on the coast, there is temperatures 49 to 50 degrees. 16 to 20. that's stronger and look at the gusts here

at oakland airport. that's 22. that's a much stronger gusts than yesterday. we'll get sunny skies after that low cloud that gives away. the breeze are picking up and some clouds around. near normal, a little breezy and blustering for some. we won't get warmer than yesterday. temperatures are about where they should be. >> all right, this one, with trafshg. traffic. >> those issues have been cleared frd the lane but traffic is a little slower than usual driving through that tunnel. let's take a look at what we have now with the morning commute. there is a new crash on southbound 880. traffic is backing up from 238, four car crash blocking at least one lane. that crash just came in moments ago. we'll let you know if it becomes a big problem or if they're going to move to the shoulder soon.

let's go to the live pictures. if you are driving to san jose, northbound 280 ammunition looking good. there is a new development in an officer involved shooting in sonoma county. this is a picture of the shooting scene. deputies shot a person who led them from a high speed chase around midnight. now, investigators say the incident began when the suspect drove backwards on the northbound lanes of 101. the deputies then shot the suspect several times. the person's condition has not been released. now, the other two hospitals

suffer minor injuries. alex savage is out there this morning, he's going to give us the update coming up at 6:30. we continue to follow a developing story out of the south bay. firefighters faced several challenges including exploding ammunition in the garage and a live down power line. ktvu channel 2 news janine is hat the scene this morning. such an intense conversation you had with neighbors who tried to save that man inside. >> it is a sad situation here, neighbors testimony us the man who lived in this home is in his 60s. flames were coming from the back and the side of the home. they did not see their neighbors so they tried to wake him up by banging on his door. firefighters are still out here and keeping an eye on the house and making sure that hot spot won't flare up. when they arrive, the flames

were through the roof, a man was trapped inside house. they found a body of a man in the back bedroom. at the same time, the power line had come down in the north and firefighters were concerned of that danger as wells explosion in the garage because ammunition was kept this. >> i thought about trying to break the front door, i started yelling there and yelling. i was banging on the glass. the window broke and that time all the smoke just came out. it was this black big sm there is no way i can go in there and have one breath of air. >> reporter: neighbors say the homeowner have lived there for 20 years. he competes in shooting competitions and he's very nice

and lived along and not married. the man has not been officially identified and we don't know who he is. it was either the homeowner that was there found inside or the coroners still need to arrive and do an investigation and trying to each out the next of kin. we know when an arson investigator is on the scene trying to determine. we'll stay on top of this to see if we can get more answers. pam? >> sounds like a lot of questions still remained. 6:06 is the time. it all started in vallejo, our traffic camera captured that chase as a su pass to cross the beach chlts the driver then got out of the car and tried to run away but then eventually was captured. boy, look at the speed on the

bridge there. chp tells us the car he was driving was stolen. happening now michael brown's family will file a lawsuit. the unarmed teenager did not have to be shot and killed from darren wilson. the browns' parents say they never excepted wilson's story, afs a shooting self defense. there is no word on how much compensation mike brown's parents are receiving. a federal appeal court in san francisco over turns a justice conviction around him. at last night's giants game, fans told

smashing a woman's phone. beatrice says she was using her phone. he threw her phone to the ground and shattered the screen. the incident was caught by a neighbor who was also filming the arrest. >> i felt assaulted. he was huge and had a vest on. i only have my phone and i am recording his face. >> she says she plan to file a lawsuit, u.s. marshal is currently reviewing the entire matter. time now is 6:17. a student got hit by a five day suspension because of the way he asked a girl to the prom. during lunch period, ahmad strapped on a fake bomb and jumped up the stage and holdup a sign that says "i know it is late, will go with me to the

prom i know i am the bomb". it did not go well with the school. he's now going to miss this weekend's prom as a result. it is 6:17, we have been talking about this. a lot of people have a lot to say about this story. well most are saying it is pretty serious what he did and in light of the current world situation and school violence we have seen. it is pretty serious and he should be punished. some people says he should be aloud to go to program. >> that's on your facebook page. >> i might get on there and comment. there. they'll still have mostly fresh and sunny skies. the clouds over the sierra are to the south. yesterday was our best bet. nevada at 45. it is cold. look at oakland airport 13 gusting at 22. that's cold. 20s up in the mountains. a lot of thunderstorms activities in southern california central. half-moon bay at 53. san francisco is actually at 50 . that's the coldest they have been since june. if you get clear skies that allows temperatures to drop. that's why we are seeing big differences in temperatures today. tomorrow low clouds and breezy to some. highs today is 60s and 70s. near average the warmest location is pretty far inland. yesterday, antioch is 78.

is windy and cold >> it is cold. it is a good little breeze out there. >> my hair was employeeing. blowing. now, that's some wind. now now, we are seeing upper 40s and there is rather robust fresh if you will. it is telling me it is going to be cooler today. it is not a lot but a little bit. 50s and 60s on the bay. yesterday was our best opportunity for any thunderstorms. they're drifting to the south. low clouds are giving away to sunshine. we add that breeze today i will tell you, 40s and 50s. 43 in santa rosa. here is the key, 13 and 22 in oakland. yesterday, was far less and that's why temperatures are warming up. there is the big low in

central california. southern california gets clouds and showers . we'll get mostly cloudy skies. chilly to mild. windy at time and some of that cloud deck will give ways to mostly sunny skies. all right we have a couple of issues anything new? >> well, the crash we have in hayward has been cleared to the lanes and off to the right hand side t. crash is maybe out of the lanes but it is still very slow on 880 as you drive south. the accident is on the shoulder but it is jammed now on 880 as you drive south to the area. i just want to mention, we have been checking out the east bay. richmond and hercules, i we have an early crash there. southbound 680, traffic is light. now, i do want to let you know that traffic is

going to be busy. let's go to 280 in san jose and you can see traffic is moving along relatively well. i do see sky fox is up. we'll try to get a picture of them coming up of that whole haywood thing. it is looking for the crash but this is southbound 880 jackson street. you can see traffic is slow heading down from southbound 880. i don't think our photographer knows he's on the air yet but we'll get it straighten out for you. it is 6:33. let's go back to the desk . there are new development of an of involved shooting early this morning. deputies say they have no choice but to shoot the suspect. you are in sonoma county with more on this

case. >> reporter: investigators say deputies were forced to shoot into the car after that car slammed into three person. this is on highway 116. the shooting was just after midnight and again it came after a high speed chase. the person who was shot was taken to santa rosa memorial hospital for treatments. a spokesperson told me this morning, they do not know that person condition right now. the driver going the wrong way on highway 101 late last night near windsor, deputies pursuit that car down the freeway and finally the car stopped in the parking lot here. as deputies approach the car and giving commands, the driver put the car in reverse and slammed into

three deputies. that's when a number of deputies opened fire into that car hitting the driver. the person who was shot put a lot of people at risk during this chase. >> proceeds are dynamic in their nature and the speeds in which the person was going on the freeway and on the highway, it puts everyone in danger. >> again a total of three deputies injured by that car that was put in reverse and struck them. one of the deputies was taken to the hospital and the other two had minor injuries. investigators are not giving municipal of any information about the person who was shot. the driver of that car they're not giving their age or information. we are told that santa rosa police will be

investigating the shooting that involved deputies. it is standard procedures for them. they say that is in the intere transparency. >> all right, we'll talk to you more alex, there is more to the story. we are following this story. one person has died in a house fire here on lolo lane and mountain view. these are live pictures and you can see firefighters out there. it started at 4 a.m.. when the fire department got there the flames were already shooting through the roof. the smoke was bellowing out of that house. fire crews also face some other big challenges including ammunitions exploding in the garage and a live down power line in the backyard. allman was found trapped inside the bedroom. neighbors were trying to save him and banged on doors and broke a window but they could

not get into the house because the flames and smoke was just so intense. ktvu channel 2 news janine is there she's been out there all morning, she will have a live report for you coming up at 7:00. time now is 6:36. a teenage girl is accused of stealing a car with her boyfriend is on the loose this morning. slipped out of her handcuffs. officers first tried to return her to her family but the family refused to take her back. her stepmother ktvu channel 2 news that this girl had been in and out of trouble, the family is hoping if she spent some time in juvenile hall it will be good for her. >> she needs to turn herself in and it is getting worse and worse of the charges she had. >> now the girl is facing a

vehicle theft charge along with charges related to the escape. police don't believe post she's posting threat to the public. remember on monday in san jose, a murder suspect managed to get out of a the field and climbed over the 1500 fence while wearingcuffs. he tackled the suspect to the ground and scraped off his shirt and his arm. police are conducting an investigation of how that suspect managed to escape. search team are expected to be out this morning looking for 17-year-old conner sullivan. he was last seen at the high school in cupertino. he left his house on november drive an 7 a.m. on monday. he was last seen by school staff on

welcome back, it is 6:45. a 7-year-old boy is continuing to fight for his life this morning after being shot in a vallejo neighborhood. ktvu channel 2 news is in vallejo this morning with how is this affecting people, still grieving from a previous death. >> reporter: the gunshots rang out. this morning, police are on the hunt for a gunman. the shooting happened just after 5 :20 last night. a group of

patrol 30 to 40 people were gathered outside of the home on 100th block of 5th. they were just sharing stories and talking to each other. witnesses tell ktvu they thought it was fire cra at first but realized it was gunfire when they saw the little boy got shot. >> oh wow, it is a little boy. he got shot. i sat here and i noticed it when it happened. >> i'm siting here barbecuing for the family and everybody. >> reporter: now witnesses say the parents of the 7-year-old rushed him to the hospital. we understand he under went surgery. he's in critical
