i have to say there is a little bit of slow traffic out there but for the most part we are doing very well. let's take a look at the santa clara commute. looks good. 101 and 87 are off to a good start. 580 you can tell it's friday morning. lighter than usual. there is a little bit of crowding and slowing but it's not as it normally is. 680 is the same. in hayward southbound as you drive to fremont and milpitas it shouldn't be that bad of a drive. the rest of the commute looks good. i looked for red on the maps. there is not a lot of red in concord, in antioch, and richmond. the freeways are look pretty good. let's go to the toll plaza of the bay bridge. there is a little bit of a backup. the metering lights are on. 6:02 let's go back to the desk. students and parents in antioch are being warned this morning be on the lookout.

elementary school student says a stranger tried to lure him into his truck. tara moriarty is joining us live. you're out at the school and the principal says he's beefing up security out there. >> the principal here says he's going to have additional security patrolling the grounds he's put out a letter to participant. we also know that he is urging parents to remind their children never to talk to strangers and never to get in the car with a stranger. now the fifth grade boy says this incident happened yesterday morning about 8:40 after he was dropped off nearby for class. the principal sent out a letter warning parents that they tried to lure the boy into class. the boy describes the stranger as a clean shaven asian man in his 70s. this is the second incident in the area this week. monday a student at bris toe middle school says she was approached by a stringer when she was walking home from

school. that suspect description is a little different. a white man, 20-30 years old, short brown hair in a standard green toyota pickup with a receiver ball on the rear bumper blocking part of the license plate. that child also escaped unharmed. live in antioch i'm tara moriarty, back to you. there is a shocking surprise for a woman in petaluma who woke up from a nap only to find a stranger sleeping on her sofa. according to the santa rosa press democrat the woman quietly locked herself in a closet and called 911. she stayed on the phone with the emergency dispatcher who then instructed when she was instructed by police cued the woman to run out of the house. that is when the man later identified as james adams woke up and ran out the back and into police who tased him twice. authorities say the 44-year-old who has a history of arrests for being under the influence

of drugs, ate some food while she was inside the woman's home. police in fremont searching for a man that tried to rip a necklace right off a woman's neck. investigators released this surveillance video. the woman was walking to her front door wednesday afternoon when the man came up and tried to steal her necklace. she defended herself and the man ran away. the man described in his 20s between 5'6" and 5'9" with short dark hair and a for mustache. it had tinted rear windows and seven spoke rims. the car had no front license plate. in on effort time prove service muni is rolling out a number of changes. that's new here alex?

>> reporter: some of the series for improvements is new bus shelters and we're here at one of them this morning. you can take a look here. we will walk here around the way and show you some of what is going on. there is new signage here and there is new maps that they have put out on the shelters as well to help people figure out where they are going and how to get there and muni launching its rapid network. the mta will stop using the term limited to describe express buses and riders should be looking for rapid routes. now muni has also changed the numbers of some bus lines. and this is all part of the muni forward initiative. all together the improvements are designed to boost service for 165,000 daily riders. now another aspect of this money muni over haul the buss will show up and quite a few stops have been eliminated. of course if you use muni, probably a good idea to take a

closer look at new maps and the new schedules that have been put out. the mta says this is the most significant series o of improvements that they have put in place in decades and later on this morning mta officials will be here at this bus shelter again. they will be holding a news conference to talk more about the details of this plan. >> all right it's going to be interesting to hear more. a teenager from -- is now home safe. 17-year-old connor for. now he was last seen at will his first -- hundreds of volunteers were out there searching for him. >> a stolen cello worth $8,000 is backouts rightful owner. a anonymous person walk into a bar on grant street, handed the cello over to the bartender and

told him to take it to the police. and then he quickly left. police returned that cello to its owner a 16-year-old girl in the east bay. the police are still searching far man and woman you see here on this surveillance video in san francisco stealing the cello from a car at the ellis parking garage. there has been an outpouring of support for a napa man who is in a coma after a jewelry store robbery. two 17-year-old boys tried to rob napa jeweler. the owner managed to end the attack and the teenagers were caught this a nearby parking garage. a go fund me page has within set up to help the porter family who is well liked in the community. >> we work very well together. he's easy to get along with and quite humorous at times. he's got a great personality. >> reporter: bob porter was a baseball star at napa high school.

played two seasons with the atlanta braves in the early're 80 -- early '80s. he is married with three grown children. his wife is a nurse in the same hospital where he is in a medically induced coma. new information about the officer involved shooting in sonoma county we told you about live yesterday morning. the person who was shot by sheriffs deputies is 46-year- old karen jenns. the incident started yesterday morning when police responded to incidents of a car going in reverse. they tried to stop her but she sped away. going up to more than 100 miles an hour. she got off the freeway, headed toward sebastopol and at one point she turned into a parking lot and the deputies started closing in. that is when jenks backed up her car into three deputies knocking them to the ground. they opened fire, she.

a huge crowd in indianapolis watched in horror as a stage at a high school collapsed injuring more than a dozen students. the stage collapsed last night right during the final number of a musical. at least 12 students were injured. one critically. parents could be heard screaming for their children as they rushed to the stage. it's not clear what caused that stage to collapse. time is 6:13. dr. oz responding to critics who say he doesn't have credibility as a physician

slow at the bay bridge toll plaza for just a little bit. we've had slow traffic here and there. i want to show you the maps. i will show you a little bit of the commute here. you can see yellow on that map and that means slow traffic. but you don't see a lot of red. if you are driving on the nimitz freeway you will see slow traffic. at 6:16, today's forecast with steve. very happy friday. a very windy friday morning. oakland airport 21 miles an hour. there are some breaks in the low clouds but it's a cool, cool pattern. heard from bonnie anderson up at forest hill. she said it's tough to get to my garden when the breeze and chill like that. windy and cooler today.

tomorrow but they get clearing in the afternoon. here's your timeline. by this afternoon late tonight and into the north bay and over night around 2:00, 4:00, 6:00 in the morning and then by 7:00, 8:00 most of it is gone. after that high pressure builds in and we will kick everything out of here and we'll have a better second half of the weekend. partly sunny. windy and cooler. patchy low clouds and drizzle out there. below normal temps that is for sure. looking at 50s and 60s. a couple very low 70s. and tomorrow we will have rain in the morning. out of there by sunday, monday and tuesday look warmer. now to pam. a bill to protect people who let their lawns turn brown during the drought is on its way to the state senate. right now there are homeowners association and some cities where people can be fined if they don't water their lawns and keep their grass green. the new legislation would prohibit those fines. the bill was pad # by the state

assembly yesterday. some people in palo alto are upset about seeing thousands of gallons of water flushed down the they say they have watched this daily. property owners are pumping water from a ever that water is being pumped into the drains and ends up in the san francisco bay. people who live in the area say this is unacceptable especially during the drought. >> every time i turn on the news, every time i open facebook, every time i look at twitter save water. save water. >> about 50 gallons of water a minute are being flushed down that drain. contractors have placed a valve at each site so water trucks and street sweeters can be

so there are exceptions. good morning, everybody. let's go out and take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. if you're getting out to the city early right now, there will be a delay for you as we take a look from our emeryville camera. looking at people waiting in line for 10-15 minutes. those metering lights are on. it's a typical delay. it's a little bit on the lighter side but you have to plan on waiting there at the toll plaza. san jose northbound 280 at the 880 interchange you will see slowing but it's better than usual. i do want to mention in menlo park, that is a good intersection to avoid if you can. menlo park police as talked about a signal malfunction. willow road at hmm ill ton and they expect question lays -- expect delays on willow road. don't forget there is a major

purchased by the department and worn by all deputies. on monday we showed you the body cameras that livermore police officers are now wearing. they have identified eight types of interactions where the officers are supposed to turn on the cameras. those include 911 calls. today the parents of a 21- year-old guatemalan man shot and killed by police are filing a lawsuit and calling for a federal investigation into his death. according to police, a perez lopez was shot back in february by two plain clothed officers when he charged at them with a knife. at a community meeting people -- his parents cyathea have the

evidence from an -- this is coming in from east palo alto. firefighters that were battling a blaze on bay road they made a disturbing discovery a couple hours ago. they were called out there for a trailer fire but after they put the fire out, they discovered a body in the debris. police are now taking over the investigation. the cause of that fire hasn't been determined yet but the victim may have been a transient. we have a crew on the way there. they will bring you more details as we get them. according to a new report that is out, santa clara county has one of the highest increases of bing drinking in member. the study was conducted by the university of washington and it defines bing drinking for women as four or more drinks on a single occasion. for men it's five or more drinks. among women bing drinking has increased almost 36%.

along the 680-880 corridor who may be reluctant to come forward. two people are facing charges after a high speed chase that ended in a firey crash that started about 8:30 last night when police attempted to stop a call for failing to yield. the chase took officers over the carquinez bridge and west to interstate 880 when the car tried to take the exit it flipped and caught fire. three people in the car tried to run from the scene but were found and arrested by police. one of the people arrested is a 16-year-old and released to the custody of his or her parents. there is a new development in a story we've been talking about all week. coming up in 20 minutes we'll tell you about a south bay teenager that hasn't been missing since monday good morning. we are look at the east bay
