we start with breaking news out of new york. we're getting word the statue of liberty and liberty island have been evacuated because of a suspicious package. the new york police department says it's investigating along with the national parks service. visitors have been posting photos and video online of the long lines to get off liberty island. we're told some boats were diverted from nearby ellis island to help with the evacuation. we'll continue to gather information and keep you posted on any major developments in this story. also in san leandro, the

smell of an electrical fire prompted an evacuation at arroyo high school. skyfox was overhead. fire officials say a pump overheated in a locker room. no one was hurt. but students were evacuated as a precaution. in the last half-hour, students were allowed back into classrooms at arroyo high school and released for lunch. good afternoon. i'm tori campbell. also in the last hour, muni outlined major changes all in an effort to offer a better ride to customers. christien kafton is live in san francisco to explain what is about to change. >> reporter: we're geary and levinworth along 38th. you can see what we're talking about. one of the new shelters that muni is showing off and the rebranded lines. if you take a look closely at the sign, you be able to see the line is called the 38 l and

now it will be called 38 r for 38 rapid. mta leaders showed off the new shelters with clear lettering and new images. it's part of the muni forward program. the agency will increase how often buses run. they will improve signage and unveil a map for clarity. it's all to make it run better. >> it helps not only our bus riders and our customers. it helps oveverybody on the streets, whether you are -- it helps everybody on the streets, whether you are walking, biking, taking a taxi. >> reporter: back out live, you can see some changes are already in place like the new shelters. on the ground you can see the red dedicated bus and taxi. the only lane that will help clear that up and hopefully increase the timing on the buses and making they stay son

-- stay on time. a lot of big changes for muni riders here in san francisco. back to you. >> certainly a lot of changes ahead. thank you. track repairs will disrupt b.a.r.t. service in the east bay this weekend. b.a.r.t. will shut down the tracks between the fruitvale and coliseum station at 7:00 p.m. saturday night and they will remain closed all day sunday. a bus bridge will be set to transport riders between the stations but b.a.r.t. warns you should allow an extra 30, 60 minutes for your trip. police and fire officials are investigating a deadly fire in east palo alto this morning. a body was found at a place where no one was expected to be on the property of the chemical refinery on bay road in east palo alto. from skyfox you can see an aerial view of the place where the fire hasn'ted -- happened. the refinery has been evacuated for years. someone passing by saw smoke

after 1:00. when firefighters arrived, they found a construction trailer on the property engulfed in flames. after they put it out, they discovered a body in the debris. an arson investigator suspects a transient may have been using the trailer as shelter. >> it's a vacant site. nobody should be out here. but we do have an issue with homelessness out in this area. and so there is a possibility of that. >> warming fire, possibly? >> possibly. we're looking into the cause right now. still under investigation. >> fire officials noted there's a nearby homeless encampment. so they are looking to see if it was someone from there. at this point, investigators don't believe it's suspicious. it's unknown if the deceased was a man or a woman. 2 investigates has uncovered some concerns with the bay area repair company and now it's prompting a statewide investigation. it all started with a complaint to our 2 investigates team about the best and fast garage door repair in oakland.

statue of liberty. antioch parents and students are on the lookout after a student said a stranger tried to lure him in a truck. the principal of bellshaw elementary says the school is beefing up security. that's because yesterday morning at 8:40, a fifth grader says a stranger tried to lure him into his truck twice after the boy was dropped off near campus. the boy ran to the school's front gate and was okay. >> obviously, it's turning. but it is the times that we live in, all around the state of california. besides teaching students the basics, we have to keep them about what's going on. >> i always tell my son do not talk to anybody you do not know. even if they say your mom works with me, it doesn't mooter. the only -- matter. the only people you should talk to is the principal, anybody in the school and you know your grandma and grandpa. that's it. >> the man described as a clean-

shaven asian man in his 30s driving a red truck. this is the second incident. on monday, a student in presentwood said she was -- in breent wood said she was -- brentwood said she was approached by a white man, 20 to 30 years old, short brown hair. seven county sheriff's deputies have begin to test body cameras. the department is trying to identify the best system that could be purchased by the department and worn by all deputies. on monday, we showed you the body cameras that livermore police officers are wearing. there are eight types of interactions where the officers are supposed to to turn on the cameras. they include 911 calls, probation searches and traffic stops. the cameras record video and audio. the video is stored for at

25 miles per hour. concord, you are checking in at 15, sustained. 18 miles per hour for the gusts there in oakland. the onshore breeze to 22. we'll shift into the south and take a look at some of these numbers. san jose, 13 miles per hour. gusting to 18. 25 at hayward. livermore, 22. you get the idea. sfo, 29 miles an hour. a little cool, a little breezy. clouds on the increase. here is a snapshot of what's going on from up above this hour. partly cloudy to mostly clear skies. as i back you up, take a look at the system, that will bring us rain eventually. here is the center of the circulation right in here. the energy will begin to move into northern california as we speak and then it's going to shift in our area as we get into the evening hours. so let me take you through your friday afternoon. we're mainly dry. we're partly cloudy through most of the day. as we get closer to sunset. i think the clouds will increase. but then by later this evening, by 10:00 or so, we've got that rain moving into portions of the north bay.
