happened there before, right? >>reporter: yes there have been a series of attacks in this area and people who jog or walk on this trail are wore eed assaulted. now, in response liver moore police are stepping on the patrol on the trail. we saw police warning people about the attack. a victim was walking alone when a man grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her. police are hoping someone saw what happened and they are warning people who are out jogging.

i talked to a woman and she says she stays close to her friends. >> we understand the safety risk. but it is sad that as women we can't run at night. >> here is a description of the attacker a white man in his early to mid-30s stocky about 6 feet tall and at the time of the attack he was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark features and described by the attackers as being dirty and unshaven. certainly it's a possibility that investigators are considering. >> and certainly alarming for women and anyone using those trails. thank you, alex. it is 7:05 new this morning. flames

broke out at 2:15 a.m. on 89th avenue and g street. firefighters found two large rooms filled with marijuana plants and lighting equipment. it appears the equipment from the pot grow may have started the fire. police are searching for a third home invasion suspect. he's one that broke into a home in fremont last night. he chase td suspect across the dunbar bridge and they hit a patrol car. the police tracked down and arrested two suspects, but that third one still got away. police in pleasant on need your help after she saw them stealing. this video shows the man inside the store at stone bridge mall on march 15th they are attempt to go pepper

spray the female employee before they ran out of the store. she was not seriously hurt. look at the video. if you have any information call pleasant ton police. a smash and grab burglary. they smashed a van into the front of the store. these workers are removing the broken doors. three people jumped out of the van and ran into the store and stole hand bags and clothing. surveillance video shows 1 man and two women. happening today. students who had been enrolled at hill colleges will get help figuring out what they can do next. hills, everest and wild college told the students they were

closing down. many students were weeks away from go ahead getting degrees. those students can go to their schools and pick up transcripts that can help them get credits for the class they have already taken. they will meet with counselors to talk about which classes are transferable. students who want to can automatically have their federal student loans forgiven but only if they give up any credits they earn. tesla today the ceo will release an item that has nothing to do with transportation. there is multiple products for this. >> here at tesla's auto factory they put these lithium battery packs

in the cars to power them and now tesla will introduce a similar type of batteries for homes and business. this picture tweeted titled the missing piece. let's hope this is what the new bat via going to look like. that the batteries can be charged at night and then homes and businesses save on energy instead on tapping into the power grid. right now there aren't enough lithium batteries being produced globally so it's imperative that tesla build these batteries in nevada. they will make their announcement tonight at 8:00 p.m. in southern california and some expect this battery pack to be pricey. we have told approximately $13,000.

it is 7:13 we turnout to baltimore. the city's curfew ending early this morning and while citizens tried to block traffic overnight there were no problems. police have made about 250 arrest since monday's riots. half the people were released without ever being charged. more demonstrations are planned across the area. however protest across the nation are growing. thousands of people marched from new york city union square to time square and closed down streets to the tunnel. police are arrested hundreds of demonstrators. at the white house about 150 people took on a demonstration showing signs

that said "black lives matter". there was information that freddy gray may have injured himself. the washington post reports officers arrested gray and were transporting him to jail. a fellow prisoner who was also in the police van with gray says he believes gray was banging his head against the wall of the van and intentionally trying to hurt himself. gray was later found unconscious and died of a spinal injury. time now 7:15 for the first time in major league baseball history, a game was played with no fans in the stadium. those cheers, at this baltimore orioles game. that was his teammate.

fans were not allowed inside for safety reasons. but fans were looking through gate behind left field. the game was closed to the public so police can be sent to where they were needed most around baltimore. by the way the orioles recent game was moved to florida. now we know the warriors will be playing the memphis grizzlies in the playoffs. last night beat the trailblazers. the grizzlies have made it to the finals. the warriors have been practicing and resting for several days now. the warriors were 2-1 against the grizzlies in the regular season. now, again game 1, sunday, 1230 time:30 p.m.

a 4-month baby girl is back home after her family car was stolen and she was in the backseat. the car was stolen early yesterday shortly before 11:00 a.m. as her driver was driving near the tenderloin. >> the male pulled over to the side to check to see if the car was damaged and at that point the suspect jumped into drivers side of the car. now, police issued a citywide bulletin after that. within 20 minutes, a police officer spotted the car. it was parked at the public defenders office . they arrested the suspect they found the baby in the backseat unharmed. >> police booked 30-year-old

>> we are following breaking news from the l.a. area. a 3.5 earthquake. there have been no reports of damage or injuries but the metro rail was stopped for inspection. there was developing news of a strong earthquake in the pacific ocean a magnitude 6.7 struck new guinea. there are no reports of damage and no danger of a tsunami. earthquakes happen frequently in the area in the faults known as the ring of fire. meanwhile the nepal aftershocks have been stronger. seismologist say that more than 70 aftershocks in the massive 7.8 earthquakes.

the aftershocks have arranged from 3.2 to 6.9. coming up in 20 minutes sam will tell us how this has affected us in the area. a proposal to give body cameras to city police officers. more on the idea. it's raising some questions. >> good morning some people say that these body cameras are a great idea because they are transparent but others say they do pose an invasion of privacy and could make a bad situation worse especially in cases of domestic violence. there are others already using the cameras including san jose and police and los angeles county and san francisco sheriff's deputies. the

mayor says they need to do everything to keep people safe. they are showing officers apparently conducting warrant less searches and stealing property. there have been also officer involved shootings in the community. the cameras use has raised questions about shouldn't someone be allowed to see the video. and posted on youtube blurted out to protect identities. just yesterday. hillary clinton says every department in the country should have them and it would improve transparency and accountability and help to protect people on both sides of the lens. new york and chicago are testing the body cameras. here in san francisco there is no timeframe

incredibly heartbreaking. you told me your father's village is completely wiped out? >> yes. my father's village you have to hike 3-4 miles to get to the village. two of my relatives died in the earthquake and one is still waiting with a broken foot and broken hand waiting for rescue efforts. >> gosh. we are so sorry to hear that. that's what we've been talking about. those are the things that are needed most is medical attention there as well as shelter as we talk about the monsoons coming in and you were telling me also that there are already some challenges in that area even before the earthquake hit with getting water. people don't necessarily have running water. so you are going to head out there next week. what are the kinds of things that you are going to be doing and bringing to help them recover? >> we are already organizing through the social media and networks we

have build and we have delivered 209 tents so far and we are talking about more water supplies and more long-term solutions for housing. >> you were talking about participating in the work. >> yes. in the remote areas and work to go get water purifiers from india to nepal. we were approached by a community which is a couple hours away and they are getting bins to get from woods to build the foundation. they are going to make temporary shelters but as they move towards more rebuilding they can reuse those tents. this is an alternative to tents that people are getting out there or

i want to show you the traffic time. 57 minutes that's worse than yesterday on the drive to the bridge and almost an hour here. it usually takes about 20 minutes during this drive. they times the drive. yesterday was just as bad and accidents don't seem to be a big factor in this slowdown. you know another area that's bad is 680. concord is slow and backed up to the san ramon area. all the south bay freeways are slow especially 101 and 285 are no picnic. what does that mean? that's the name of a song because tomorrow and friday we are going to be playing a

in the past 3 years and police are looking at the possibility that the same man is to blame for those crimes. the latest happened on tuesday night around 6:00 p.m. and that means it's daylight. the man grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her. the 29-year-old woman was treated for her injuries. police are stepping patrol in the trails. i talked this morning with one woman who told me she always jogz with friends and hearing about another assault in the area is very scary. >> it is and there are so many houses along here that it is pretty scary to think that. >> and here is a description the attacker involved in this week's assault. he was a white man in this early to mid-30s. a stocky build about

diego sheriff's deputies. it's said to cost more than $3 million and making the department the largest in the nation to use them. after they merged about 4 years ago showing officers conducting warrant less searches and stealing property. there were officer involved shootings over the year where video may have played a key role in helping this situation. the cameras have raised questions such as how should the footage be stored an who should see it in reality the videos are posted on youtube. l.a. and chicago have tested these cameras and here in san francisco the next step is for the board of supervisors to approve them. >> time is 8:35 an 18-year-old
