alabama, 205-pounder won the award as the best receiver this past season in college football. scouts have described him as far and away the best receiver available in the draft. his work ethic and ability to run for pass routs a compareson to jerry rice. but his new head coach jack del rio say as bit early for those kind of comparisons -- says a bit early for those kind of comparisons. >> we want him to come in here and create a name for himself. you're talking about guys that run good routs and have speed and are able to separate those kind of things. there's a number of guys that do come to mind but i don't want to heap that on him. i don't think that's beneficial for him. i think the most important thing for him is to come in here and get ready to go to work and become a great

chinese community are angry about japan's refusal for holding comfort women. most of the confident women have died but the demonstrators say the ones who are still alive deserve compensation and an apology. now there's new information about the death of 25-year-old freddie gray. his death sparked riots. they say the police van that carried gray made a stop that officers hadn 't reported previously. why they failed to report it is unclear. the baltimore sun says the report found that gray suffered a serious injury. and he has a wound that matched a protruding bolt. >> we will again be enforcing

the curfew tonight. >> earlier tonight a large number of protesters remain out on the street. police say they have heard concerns about demonstrations planned for this weekend. san francisco city leaders unveiled plans to equip the entire police department. chief suhr called it a win-win. >> the officers know they're wearing them so their behavior is going to be better and by telling the citizens they're going to be on camera then the citizen is going to behave better too. >> the city now needs to work out protocall for when and how those body cameras would be used. the city is also proposing to hire 250 new police officers

over its two year period. a number of bay area law enforcement agencies are already using body cameras including b.a.r.t. the sheriffs department in alameda and sonoma county use them along with the police departments in san jose, oakland, richmond and livermore. a drivers hit-and-run incident was caught on surveillance camera. you can see the suv starts to jump a red light and nearly hitting several people. clips one car and strikes a pedestrian. the driver with the dash camera says the pedestrian seemed to be okay and walked away. still police want to talk to

that person. >> it makes a crime. this video does help out a lot but again we do need to occupy -- again we do need to open up an investigation so we need to talk to the pedestrian. elon musk has unveiled a new product that he calls the wall. >> we need to resume battery at night. >> reporter: and he unveiled the battery. the battery will store surplus electricity from solar panels during nonpeak hours and allow the customers during peak times which would save the money. the battery would also be a

new at 10:00, a report due out tomorrow will show many of america's hospitals are struggling financially especially rural hospitals. an associated press tally shows more rule hospitals nationwide closed in the last two years than in the previous decades. hundreds more set to be vulnerable. here in california, nine hospitals have closed since 2010. two of them rule. another 10 rule hospitals are considered financially

legislation approved would make it illegal for hospitals to remove patients from a transplant list because of their use of medical marijuana. >> patients are dying because of the sigma of medical marijuana. >> reporter: he's had viral hepatitis and like thousands people in the bay area desperately needs a liver transplant. just playing with his granddaughter he says exhausts him. >> depression is always there. i'm tired of not being able to go out and do anything. i'm pretty much confined to the house. the nausea is pretty much always full time. i've taken every nausea pill they've given me and none of them have helped at all.

>> reporter: what does help is marijuana. he got a medical marijuana card and says cannabis helps him eat, sleep and improves his mood and energy. plus it doesn't hurt his liver but what it does hurt is his chance for a new liver. he says he was on a stanford transplant list until a urine test came back positive. >> they said i can't do that it's not in their protocall. >> reporter: many patients it's the only thing that relieves their symptoms. but unlike some states, california law allows hospitals to deny life saving organs to patients who use medical marijuana. >> i don't think smoking marijuana medical or other wise is a good idea when you're on a

transplant list. >> reporter: dr. mauricio bonaficio says there are sound reasons for prohibiting the use of cannabis before having a transplant. >> it can stay in the liver after transplantation. >> reporter: that puts patients at risk for diseases including cancer which are associated with smoking pot. as for nausea, appetite and weight gain he says there's a synthetic drug called m era nol for that. >> i think there's nice alternative that is can do away with the use of marijuana. >> reporter: each hospital sits its own rule for marijuana use in transplant cases. some allow educable products but not smoked. ucsf is less restrictive allowing just one clean drug test not mandating candidates be drug free six months or longer. cpmc usually allows medical pot before kidney transplant and is

now revising its protocall. a patch work that ucsf would standardize. >> we're making sure that those patients who are suffering from diseases are not inadvertently kicked off the registry list because of doctor prescribed medical cannabis use. >> but cpmc transplant rosario tells us that kind of legislation is bad medicine. >> if you trust your physician and the program you're going to, you should trust their recommendations. i don't think you need a bill. >> also for people that are following me that need it also. you know i want them not to have to go through what i'm going through. >> he says he's been off and on the liver transplant list six years and is worried his luck

some dramatic video out of nepal shows last weekend's deadly 7.8 earthquake as it was

happening. a tourist captured the quake while visiting an ancient temp. the official death toll is now 6,000. in fact, in some villages people have yet to receive any assistance. but amidst the devastation, there are some amazing stories of survival. today, american rescue teams helped save a 15-year-old boy. look at him. he survived for five days in the rubble. the boy says he live on water from wet clothes and butter while trapped in the hotel where he worked. a 25-year-old woman was also pulled from a collapsed building today where she had been trapped right next to three bodies. a vigil was held in fremont tonight to honor and remember the people of nepal. >> members of the fremont hindu temple gathered to share stories of loss and hope. those in attendance say they came to show solidarity to the citizens of nepal. they lit candles and prayer and offered prayers for the people who have been affected by the

earthquake. a local nepalese restaurant is holding a fundraiser. little nepal in san francisco's bernal heights neighborhood created a donation only select menu for tonight. >> i want to hand this money so they can build a shelter and they can live back to other homes. >> reporter: all of the proceeds from tonight's fundraiser will go toward the rebuilding effort and to providing shelter to those left homeless by the quake. a san francisco artist is asking a couple who walked away with one of his available paintings to please give it back. he says he doesn't want to press charges he just wants the painting back. nicholas coli admits the whole thing may actually be a huge misunderstanding. on april 11, he says this couple seen on surveillance video walked away with a blank canvas. but he says the couple may have

into next week. but as we mentioned throughout the day tomorrow, we could have patchy fog kind of a bump up near parts of the shoreline. with that some cooler temperatures for the beaches. still pretty warm though inland, lots of mid- to upper 80s for antioch and brent wood. san jose 83 and san francisco now today we had those temperatures in the 80s tomorrow we'll go with those reading mainly in the 70s. right near the immediate coastlines mid-60s. we'll cool things off into the weekend. sunday the coolest day of the weekend and we'll have partly cloudy skies for next week. but today it was baking out there with those numbers. from the hot weather to the draft. >> yeah there is a draft in here. >> i said the draft. >> you know millions of dollars on the line. reputations at stake but you

know draft and college kid not an exact science. you ask any football executive and they will tell you you pick the wrong guy that is an exact formula for failure. will get you fired. but at least at this stage it appears the raiders have made a close to a sure thing pick. should give the raiders a weapon offensively that they really haven't had in years. but one step at a time says his new coach. >> the way we like to do things is come in and earn your role and compete. but the expectation level should be high for a young man that comes in that's selected that high in the draft. but you know, he'll need to prove it on the field and earn it. and that's how really it is with everybody. but surely a high expectation that goes with somebody selected that high. >> a little further south down the road. low key wheel and deal for the
