between pleasanton and livermore, reporting partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies today. 53 degrees now in concord. 50 novato. 51 san francisco. 55 redwood city. the numbers a lot like yesterday, the onshore breeze blowing all the way through fairfield this morning. so that cold air continues to move through. the giants play this afternoon, 59 degrees. the sea breeze will be on and partly cloudy skies in the forecast for today. for the rest of us, looking at temperature very similar to yesterday. we may shave off just a few degrees in some areas but for the most part upper 50s to low 60s at the coast. 60s and 70s in the bay and 70s for our warmer locations. you have to get all the way to the central valley to see that orange. that means none of us are likely to hit 80 this afternoon. more numbers coming up in a bit. in the meantime, let's go back to the desk. we begin with a developing

story in livermore this morning. an investigation is underway into a horrific crash that killed two people including a 14-month-old girl. it happened at an apartment complex on marietta boulevard and fox 2's kcrist -- cristina renderon is there. looks like they are repairing a broken line behind you. >> reporter: that's right. these are cable crews working to repair underground lines. it's a sad story to cover. we're told a mother and her 14- month-old were in the backyard of this apartment complex when a suspected drunk driver lost control and crashed into them. we're going to take you to photos that livermore police shared with us. they say the impact of the crash left the car unrecognizable, an officer tells us a 35-year-old livermore man suspected of driving drunk lost control of car and hit the back of that

apartment complex. a 40-year-old mother and her 14- month-old girl in the backyard of that apartment were hit and killed. also a 7-year-old boy and 6- year-old boy were also hit. taken to the hospital but they are expected to survive. the driver was also treated for injuries and arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. though we did talk to one neighbor here who was at the scene yesterday and she just says that this crash and this tragedy is horrific. >> reporter: so sad for the family. but sometime -- i don't know why the people, she said the guy, he's drunk? i don't know. i don't know. but this is so sad because you know -- why you drinking and driving? >> police are not yet releasing the identity of that suspected drunk driver. and the names of the victims haven't been made public either. we did talk though with a friend who knows the family. he says this is very sad. the father is now left without his wife, without one of his

children. and they are trying to understand what exactly went wrong but they are urging anyone out there to not drink and drive. claudine? >> very heartbreaking story. thank you so much. a driver in bay point is facing manslaughter and dui charges on suspicion of crashing into a group of people outside of a restaurant and nightclub. one person was killed, eight others injured in the crash. it happened early yesterday morning in the parking lot of la finka after the club closed. 24-year-old laura sanchez was killed. her family says she was a cafeteria worker at uc san francisco. >> from what her friends had said he was really drunk and he was trying to leave and he hit the gas but hit it in reverse. i think he panicked after that. >> the driver has been identified as 21-year-old martin munoz of pittsburg. >> when we arrived on scene we

had approximately nine to 10 victims hit by a reckless driver in the parking lot. we've had some witnesses who told us it was an intentional act. >> after crashing into a crowd of people police say the driver then struck two other cars as well. in the meantime the family of laura sanchez has set up a gofundme page to help cover the cost of the funeral. as of this morning more than $700 has already been raised. the nightclub also plans to host a fundraiser next saturday night in her honor. new this morning -- people who walk and ride bikes in san jose already use the second safest city streets in the state but now the city wants to make them even safer. a statewide study shows the san jose injury crash rate is around 3.18 per 1,000 people. tomorrow the city will unveil a plan called vision zero to reduce fatalities and serious injuries. it's based on steps taken from sweden where road deaths have been cut in half. steps include lowering speed limits on troublesome roads,

replacing am better-cole load sodium lights with diodes. fremont is the only city at a lower death rate. happening today -- maryland's governor is calling for a statewide day of prayer and peace following a week of protests in baltimore. over the death of freddie gray. ♪ i got a feeling♪ ♪ that somebody's trying to hold us back♪ >> demonstrators marched through baltimore yesterday and held a demonstration at city hall. they called it a victory rally after criminal charges were filed against six baltimore police officers in connection with gray's death. while there were no major disturbances at that rally police did use pepper spray and arrested protesters overnight for violating city curfew. >> the most important thing is your safety, the safety of all the infrastructure that is here, because without that we

have no baltimore. >> thousands of people attended the demonstration including the uncle of oscar grant, cephus johnson. >> we know without a doubt that community involvement, using their first amendment rights to this issue there's better chance of the officers sent to prison for the murder of freddie gray versus just being charged. >> one officer is accused of second degree murder. the police commissioner says the truth in the case will come out. he says peace and calm are always better than violence. maryland leaders will attend special church services today as part of their day of prayer and peace. we're starting to hear from angry merchants in downtown oakland that say police should have done more to stop protesters friday night. store owners are spending this weekend cleaning up the damage caused by the protesters. more businesses were hit including car dealerships and an auto body shop.

michael jordan, magic and tom brady. the fight was delayed for about a half-hour because of high pay- per-view causing problems for cable and satellite systems. it's estimated that three million households ordered the fight at $100 each. sports bars and restaurants here and across the country also televised the fight a restaurant in south san francisco had mostly manny pacquiao fans. they called him an inspiration. >> i'm kind of disappointed with the outcome of the fight. i'm a pacquiao fan and i was really pulling for him. but i can't disagree with the decision. >> the restaurant paid $7,500 for the right to show the event. the owner still expected to make a tidy profit through coverage charge and t-shirt sales. the fight is also making the front page on newspapers across the country. this is "the boston herald." you can see the headline reads

news from nepal. eight days after it was hit by the earthquake three survivors. two men and woman were pulled out of the rubble and now being hospitalized. the details of their conditions haven't been released. the death toll from the earthquake in nepal now tops 7,000 and continues to climb. search and rescue crews now dealing with new complications. officials now say the slow arrival of relief supplies to areas outside kathmandu could lead to the spread of disease. and aftershocks and rain are producing landslides in the area which is making it even more difficult to get to the more remote areas that are desperate for food, water and medical supplies. >> we definitely need more helicopters. this is an area where particularly in the early days of the response and even seven days in this is still very much the early days. because there are people we have not yet reached.

>> one other problem facing emergency teams, nepal's only international airport is now closed to big jets. that is because there are signs that the airport's own run way is starting to -- only runway is starting to crack under the big planes loaded down with supplies. a washington, dc teen is working to give homeless people people a chance for real relationships. they buy dozens of mcchicken sands witches at a nearby mcdonald's and then skate around and hand them to those living in the parks. he calls them his homies and they are grateful. >> i say talking to them is more important than this stuff. i have never seen anyone just sitting down having a casual conversation. that is what i like to do. just give them someone to talk to. just be a homey to the homeless. >> inspiring young man there. lindsay graduates from high school later this month. he says he will then make feed the homies an international effort. he plans to set up his first

welcome back. coming up on 7:30 -- here's a look at some of the top stories we're following this morning. san jose plans to roll out a new street safety plan tomorrow. the city is the second safest large city in california for people who walk, ride bikes or drive. now it plans to outline an $80 million program that will narrow wide streets where drivers speed, crosswalks made more visible and improve street lighting. fundraising efforts underway to help cover funeral costs of a woman killed by an alleged drunk driver in bay point. police say the 21-year-old suspect plowed into people at the parking lot of a restaurant at port chicago highway friday. 24-year-old laura sanchez killed and eight others injured. she worked in a cafeteria at ucst. livemore police sents us these photos from an apartment

complex. they say a suspected drunk driver rammed into an apartment building and killed two people. one of the victims was just 14 months old. cristina joins us with this develop story. >> reporter: we're hearing this morning that a friend of the family said that 14-month-old baby and her mother were both killed in this crash. they were hit by a suspected drunk driver 7:00 last night. pan over this way. we're told by police that the suspected drunk driver was going eastbound on marietta boulevard and lost control on this curve, basically jumped over here on the grass, went through the trees and then crashed into the back of the apartment complex. that is where the mother and the 14-month-old baby girl were in the backyard. that is where they were hit and killed. we're also told a 7-year-old boy and 6-year-old boy were also hit and taken to the hospital but they are expected to be ok. this obviously a very tragic incident happening at the apartment complex here. neighbors have come out and said it was a very chaotic

scene, ambulances were everywhere. and it was very sad watching the father try to save his wife and baby basically because there was nothing he could do. we're also told by police the suspected drunk driver is a 35- year-old man, but other than that not releasing his identity. he's been arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter and his identity hasn't been released and neither has the identities of the victims. taking another live look. this is just some of the damage and debris left behind from this tragic accident. right now we have cable crews out here working to repair a line and also a lot of clean-up will be underway later today. we have course will be following up on this very sad story and have another update later on in our newscasts. >> thank you. your time now 7:32. if you liked the weather yesterday you may like it the next several days, right? >> yes. a near repeat. we're going to bring

culture. the pope says serra was part of a missionary door that went to extreme edges of society to spread the gospel. he will be proclaimed a saint in washington, dc this fall. fairfield police are investigating a shooting that injured three people. it happened before 10:30 friday night on clay bank road. police say three men started to shoot in an apartment and ran off. two people were injured. they didn't suffer life threatening injuries. police say they found a gun, ammunition and small amount of marijuana in the apartment. so far no arrests made. pg&e pg&e facing a $48 million lawsuit following a pipeline explosion in fresno last month. it blew up april 17th at a fresno county sheriff's shooting range after it was punctured by a bulldozer. more than a dozen people were hurt. several injured were part of a jail inmate work crew. a complaint has been filed against the utility company. authorities say it is i amlar

to the 2010 -- similar to the 2010 san bruno blast. regulating marijuana. currently local governments are regulating more than 1,000 pot dispensaries across the state. previous efforts to create statewide rules failed because of concerns about federal law which bars the use of sale of marijuana plants. the state lawmakers now say as many as four initiatives about recreational use could make the ballot next year and want consistent regulations in place by then. next week hillary clinton making her first fundraising trip to the bay area since declaring she's running for president. she will attend two fundraisers in san francisco wednesday. one at the home of hedge fund manager tom styer, and the other of susie thompkins buell, co-founder of north face we're just a few weeks away

from the bottle rock festival in napa and organizers are trying to find a way to keep traffic to a minimum. 30,000 people are expected to attend the three-day festival and organizers are encouraging people to carpool, take bus, ride a bike or even walk to the event. organizers say 4,000 cars will need to park each day causing huge traffic backups. bottlerock says it's paying for bus service for anyone with a bottlerock ticket for the day. there's a new program. zoo labs. the teachers try to show musicians how to make a living off their art. as allie rasmus explains the free oakland-based program may be going global soon. >> reporter: day one in the recording studio for the band

crash in livermore are a 40- year-old woman and her 14 month old daughter. livermore police say a suspected drunk driver lost control, slammed into an apartment building yesterday on marietta road. marietta boulevard i should say. the mother and child were actually in the yard. tenants at the apartment complex tell us the father desperately tried but couldn't save his wife and daughter. two other victims, a 7-year-old and 6-year-old were taken to the hospital in stable condition with non life- threatening injuries. the driver faces a charge of vehicular manslaughter while intoxaids. livermore police posted this on facebook. the crash that happened a mile from a design warning people not to get the behind the wheel while under the influence. police set up a sign on 4th street that read "designate a driver don't drink and drive." a driver in bay point facing manslaughter and dui charges on suspicion of crashing into a group of people outside of a restaurant and nightclub. one person killed, eight others injured in the crash. it happened yesterday morning in the parking lot of la finka

after the club closed. 24-year-old laura sanchez was killed. her family says she was a cafeteria worker at ucsf. >> from what her friends had said he was really drunk and he was trying to leave and he hit the gas but hit it in reverse. and i think he panicked after. that >> the driver has been identified as 21-year-old martin munoz pittsburg. -- >> we arrived on scene and approximately nine or 10 victims were hit by a reckless driver in the parking locht. witnesses told us it was an intentional act. >> after the crash into the crowd -- into the crowd of people police say the driver then struck two other cars as well. the family of laura sanchez set up a gofundme page to cover the cost of the funeral. as of this morning more than $700 has already been raised. the nightclub also plans to host a fundraiser next saturday night in her honor.

were vandalized. oakland police arrested more than a dozen people but say their investigation is ongoing and hope to make more arrests. livermore police say a suspected drunk driver plowed into an apartment building yesterday and killed a 40-year- old mother and her 14-month-old daughter. two boys age 7 and 6 were also hurt. investigators say the driver lost control and crashed into the building at a high rate of speed. silicon valley is mourning a popular executive who died suddenly while on vacation overseas. david goldberg was the husband of the facebook chief operating officer cheryl sandburg and father of two children. also the chief executive officer at survey monkey. the company which provides on- line survey says goldberg's deepest passion was with his family. it's encouraging people to post memories of him to their facebook page for their his family. he was 47 years old, his cause of death is not being released. a new york city police officer is recovering from surgery after being shot in the head while on patrol.

but investigators are looking at surveillance footage and hope to make more vandalism arrests. 62 cars were vandalized at a hyundai car dealership, that estimates there were more than $500,000 in damages. people who walk and ride bikes in san jose already use the second safest city streets in the state but now the city wants to make them even safer. this is all from a sitwide study that shows the san jose death rate is 3.18 per 1,000 people. tomorrow the city is going to unveil a plan called vision zero and it's designed to reduce fatalities and serious injuries. it's based on steps taken in sweden where road deaths have been cut in half. steps include lowering speed limits on troublesome road and replacing amber colored sodium light with white light emitting diodes and adding traffic signals.

round two of the warriors playoffs begins in a little more than three hours from now. team returning to the action for the first time in a week. we sent sal castaneda inside the arena. anticipation building for the big game. looks like things are already getting busy in there. >> reporter: that's right. i didn't get to shoot but a guy who shoots a lot like me is james michael macadou. the guy in the blue. if you watch him he has a lot of my style. see that? ooh! anyway. obviously just kidding. >> looks just like you, sal. >> reporter: the warriors dance team center court there were just practicing. a band plays here for the fans. they are playing up in the stands now. but seriously, warrior fans, maybe a little anxious because

the team has been off for a week. and obviously a lot of the fans want the team to come out strong. they've had a lot of rest. the grizzlies are going to be without one of their best players. you hate to see someone hurt but this injury does really benefit warriors fans. mike conly, one of the guards is going to be out. he has a pretty serious eye injury so it's doubtful he's going to come back for the game at all. but they are just about to -- i see them sweeping with the dogs and all that. that is a sign they do, that they are going to let people in. if you're coming out to oracle you're going to be wearing your yellow t-shirts that they have on the seats. by the way, they have some seats available, the warriors do. it's a sellout but they held some seats just so they can have some for today. they left them on-line, so you can go to warriors.com and get them. it's the 126th consecutive sellout. again tipoff is 12:30. we're going to have all the highlights for you later in the
