time with their loved one. that and his two children were rescued on thursday night after disappearing in the mountains on tuesday. we are learning more about what went wrong on that trip. chris. >> i spoke with stepfather and sister this morning. they felt embarrassed and bad for the worry he cost his family and friends. one of those friends is his business partner, a barber by trade, and he is glad to have nick back home. joe is busy at work, cutting hair and getting ready for a grand opening. his business partner is nick, the father who was rescued after going missing in the sierra with two of his children. >> we are happy. >>reporter: i just spoke with nick last night and said he never meant to worry lublin's. >> he was worried more about us than himself. which is very typical of nick. he's extremely selfless person.

>>reporter: and an instant ram post that talks about what happened and what went wrong. he said the plan trip to the sierra was meant to show his kids to abandoned mining towns with enough water, food and supplies for a week they ventured out and were nearly at their destination when they came across a tree with no way around it. that's when nick says he made the mistake of finding an alternative route instead of turning back. after a few dead ends, they reached soft dirt it caused there'd truck to slide down an embankment and get scott -- stuck. in hindsight he says he should've hung her down -- hunkered down instead of going. >> he wanted to get the message out that he was safe. and he wasn't able to do that. that was what was worrying him the most. >>reporter: next line from the children's mother is visiting relatives out of state, she's been in touch with nick he told her not to worry, just finish your trip, and tonight the family is privately celebrating the homecoming.

san mateo bridge remains closed tonight. it will remain closed through 5:00 a.m. monday. so that crews can resurface that entire bridge and apply a layer of protective covering and do some electrical work as well as some routine cleaning. this is not something you see everyday folks. caltrans gave an update this afternoon and says the work is on schedule. earlier today caltrans tweeted a photo of the roadwork and you can see workers beginning to resurface the project on one of the lanes. officials say this type of maintenance is vital to the long-term stability of the bridge. one of the alternative routes is the bay bridge. we want to give you a live look at a very congested toll plaza again this is saturday, just after 6:00 o'clock. take a look. it looks like a monday morning during the commute hours. the bay bridge is bearing the brunt of the overflow traffic from the san mateo bridge.

it is obviously an alternative route, but it isn't quite as product -- crowded. while there is a bus bridge, train passengers may have to make additional stops and transfers. bart is also updating the system that guides trains from one track two another. bart says its so-called switch is causing trains to reduce their speed when they pass through certain areas. that's making the right even slower on some routes. parking fees are set to go up at three bart stations next month. these will increase by 50 cents in concord, north concord and other stations on june 1. the increase will raise the daily parking fees to a dollar 50, it will be $2.50. san mateo police made a gruesome discovery today in a parking lot of a toy store. police say that a man's body was found near talbot toyland

on south beach street and east fifth avenue. the man's name has not is not been released by police believe the body is that of a 55-year- old transient. there were no signs of trauma and police do not suspect foul play. and advanced of the super bowl revised stadium today hosted a event to prevent human trafficking. the summit was organized by the bay area anti- trafficking coalition. they say hosting the super bowl has history of exploiting teens and children for prostitution. inside the stadium organizations came and got information about fostering for the abuse on victims come from all over the world. >> we try to find them foster homes here in the bay area. we also try to find the medical services, legal services, mental health services area do anything they can need once they are transitioning into their new life into the united

south of the dumbarton bridge when the tide went out. one person couldn't wade, and a water rescue crew picked them up. such rescues are common and warned voters -- boaters to avoid shallow waters. a special car show featured many classic models in a special tribute. the 14th annual car show in san lorenzo is in honor of rick divac e, brother of ktvu photographer was the hit -- he was in berkeley when a man and a light-colored car intentionally ran him down. rick died in the hospital from severe head trauma. the car sure -- show organizer said rick was a very good friend. >> he was amazing. he was a giver of the community. he helped people. and we lost him. we do this to keep his memory alive. >> police never made an arrest in that --

liberia paid a heavy price in the ebola outbreak there were more than 3,000 confirmed ebola cases in the country. 7400 suspected cases, and more than 4700 estimated deaths of those 189 were healthcare workers. >> after nine months. gathered in washington dc today for the million moms march. organizers say they want to call attention to police brutality and racial injustice. the march wound through the nation's capital to the department of justice the event was organized by mothers of justice united and set up by maria hamilton. she says she started the group after her 31-year-old son was shot and killed by milwaukee police a year ago. mitsubishi is recalling more than 100,000 cars, all because of possible visibility issues. the carmaker says the problems are with 130,000 lancers including the sports back, evolution and sport models and some of the cases the windchill defroster might fail as a result of a faulty blower motor. headlights taillights and winter wipers may not went to wipers may not work because of an unstable electronic control unit. mitsubishi says it will notify owners and dealers and will

seattle and vancouver rounding out the top ten. two tornadoes touched down in north texas late this afternoon. witnesses say hale the size of oranges came with that. several tornadoes touched down yesterday damaging homes and also schools. one storm turned out to be deadly. >>reporter: storm chasers catching this tornado on camera as it touched down in north texas on friday. people across the plains experiencing several days of the severe weather that brought twisters, flooding and even fires caused by lightning. this couple is lucky to be alive after tornado destroyed their home. >> we just never leave, but for whatever reason we decided we better leave. >>reporter: now, they are sorting through rubble trying to find anything salvageable. >> where do we start? we have been here 20 plus years and we have never even had to replace a roof from a storm. >>reporter: the elementary school was badly damaged by the storms, hvac units on the store -- russo blew over leaving

holes where rainwater flooded in. >> it's just coming in everywhere. at the point the principal and i were in here, all of these classrooms it was just coming in and ceiling tiles were falling. >>reporter: none of the students were injured but the storm did turn deadly. an oklahoma cityand oklahoma city woman did the right thing, she took shelter, but the flash flooding that followed tractor inside and she drowned. >> that's a freak situation. it was shocking. >>reporter: her family trying to make sense of how a shelter that was supposed to protect her took her life. >> i think if someone would have been here this would've happened. >>reporter: this is what's left of a home and bridge creek oklahoma that was hit by an e f2 tornado wednesday night. the roof is gone. there are tornado watches in western kansas and eastern colorado for tonight. and oklahoma, will fox news. and tropical storm anna is making its way towards the

carolinas tonight. strong winds and high waves are battering north carolina. landfall is expected tomorrow with even stronger winds and also flooding. it's the first named storm of the season it comes three weeks before the official start of the hurricane season. in the meantime in the bay area there's nothing going on. nothing like that. we are pretty lucky. let's check in now we have been talking about the droughts, we don't have that kind of weather. we probably have the most stable weather the country right now in the bay area. you have stability and fog. it's going to push back into the bay overnight. you heard about the two weather stories across the country. here's the satellite perspective right now, you can see the activity across parts of the south right now and also there is that circulation with a tropical storm anna you can see developing with that circulation for this part of the country out toward the atlantic. as far as temperatures for today was only 53 degrees at pacifica, the overnight low in

pacifica they started out a 48, of 48, warming up to 53 degrees. not too much change there. lots of 60s out there. seventys, i did find 180 out towards antioch. my stamp -- live storm tracker to this really reached out to itself yesterday at this time. no big changes out there. current numbers you can see where the fog is. that's where half-moon bay out towards sfo parts of san francisco 54 right now. out towards concord and fairfield i should mention went up to ten -- 20 file -- 20 miles an hour. a pastor to a fog pushing back into this picture. forecast headlights we will go with this partly cloudy skies tomorrow for mother's day, coastal fog with some warm numbers inland. what happens in the extended forecast we could be talking about some rain chances making a comeback. the flowers for mom tomorrow for mom for mother's day starting out with fall skies becoming partly sunny and breezy.
