those. some rain is making up in the extreme northern part of the state. we have low clouds around but the big dividing line. it's cool to the west. warm in the east. complete flip-flop of what we saw during our winter months and tropical depression now ana in that is all that is left. for us here locally it is quiet. snow coming out of the colorado rockies. for us 40s and 50s. they will end up with 50s and 60s and low 70s. all right sal, any updates? >> yeah we are looking the the san mateo bridge. if bridge was scheduled but opened a half an hour earlier. this bridge usually carries 100,000 cars a day. that has caused lots of wear and tear over the years.

crews used the road deck. now not all the work is done. so we're going be watching that for you very closely. this is a look at the bay bridge. you can see traffic is a little bit slow here trying to get into san francisco. we have also promised you a look at the south bay. we are off to a good start here. even 101 has very slow traffic. and that is about all. that will probably change but for now it's a decent drive in the south bay. at 6:02 let's go back to the desk. if you ride cal train, this morning's commute and finding a seat may be a little easier. alex savidge is live now at the san mateo station and the extra room on the trains that may cause some problems at some of the stations alex. >> reporter: yeah dave, good morning to you. cal train has added a sixth car to some of the most popular

trains that run during the peak commute times and those new longer trains they should really make for a much more comfortable ride for a lot of commuters. and they are being rolled out this morning. the first one expected to pull into the hillsdale station in a couple of minutes. that extra car it will mean an extra 150 seats on board those trains. trains that are at this point often over crowded. cal train has seen four straight years of ridership increases with an average of about 60,000 riders ewing the system every day and that is why cal train went out and bought 16 used cars from l.a.'s metro link system. four of those cars were put into service right away. the ones that will be out and about today. the others need more repair work and they will be rolled out once they are ready. there is one other issue here and that is come cannot

accommodate the loors. cal train is supposed to be monitoring those platforms at some point in the near future to obviously make things work smoothly. >> we'll be watching and checking back with you. alex savidge, thank you. when you think of starbucks you probably think of coffee but the company also sells a lot of bottled water. that water comes from here in california. janine de la vega is in santa clara to talk about changes the company is making because of the drought. >> reporter: yeah, pam. starbucks sells this water. it's bottled in placer county but that is going to end soon. that is because starbucks doesn't want to take from the scarce supply here in the state. this comes after people were outraged that the coffee company was using water from

california springs. starbucks got its water from an under ground spring in baxter. they will no longer purchase water from there or any other place until california. the water will now come from pennsylvania. starbucks customers share their thoughts with us this morning about that. >> we are in a drought and companies need to be conscious of what they are doing to the state that they operate in. i think it would be better you know for us if we got the bottled water from other states but i think it's really bad that they bottle it here and if they are shipping it out to other places. because that really impacts us. >> reporter: there are currently 108 licensed bottled water plants in california and that is catching the attention of water conservation advocates. protestors are protesting nest

lee -- nestle. and crystal geyser is coming under fire for its plans to open up a bottling plan until cisco county. starbucks though is being praised for this latest move that it's doing. >> sounds like other companies are going to be following suit down the road. thank you. time is 6:05. employees at a cvs pharmacy they are cleaning up after an attempted burglary. police say the suspects rammed aniso right through the front of the cvs store about 5:00 yesterday morning. it was an unsuccessful attempt to steal an atm inside. the manager says this is is the second time in a month someone intentionally crashed into that store. the customers who showed up there yesterday they were shocked to see all the damage. >> i don't know what happens to people where they feel that desperate. i wonder about that especially on mothers day. >> now the store will reopen once all the repairs are

completed and we can tell you no injuries were reported. investigators are looking for the person who shot and killed a man after he went to a memorial service for a friend in marin city. the marin county sheriffs office received several 911 calls reporting shots fired early yesterday morning. it was on kole drive. when the deputies got there they found the victim had been shot several times. he was taken to marin general hospital that is where he died during surgery. the victim is a 35-year-old man from vallejo. he was in marin city to go to a memorial service for a family friend that was shot two weeks ago. investigators are trying to figure out if this is a random act or if he was targeted. two mississippi police officers killed during a traffic stop will be remembered at a city wide memorial service. 34 officer benjamin dean pulled

over a traffic stop and then called for backup. someone inside that car started shooting. the mayor is calling on his city to help the families and each other as the investigation into the shooting continues. >> you can't have these kind of events happen in the community and solve them in a matter of hours. but i think what we need to do is celebrate the lives of these two individuals. >> four people have been arrested but authorities are not saying much about a motive for the killings. they do say the suspects are known felons and will be in court today. everyone as the forecasters presixty emergency teams are going door to door looking for more victims. severe stop that hay have

protected. the people that live there say they have very little warning. >> everything was calm and still. there is no wind or rain and i look to the west and i can see it circling and i can hear it. it sounded like a plane going over the house. >> strong winds damage schools and churches in iowa and in south dakota and heavy rains caused roads to flood. in some cases people had to be pulled from their cars be. in if lack in the mid of your screen. rushing water captured an ambulance. the five people inside they got out through the back of the ambulance but just minutes later that ambulance was completely submerged in the river. it may be days before they finally remove it. time is 6:09.

the warriors will really be tested tonight. they will play the memphis grizzlies. the grizzlies lead the series 2- 1 highwaying to tonight's game. the warriors were watching film of game three. they want to know what went wrong. steph curry has carried the team a lot this season as you know. the warriors have only lost 15 regular season games this year but a lot of people are hoping steph can get his focus back after a disappointing series so

>> they do have some good barbecue down there. >> yes. sal has all you need to know about your morning commute. how is highway 24 doing? >> you know it's not that bad, dave and pam. good morning to you. highway 24 i think you will like it. let's take a look at it here. westbound 24 looks good from walnut creek to oakland and a little bunching off in lafayette but not bad as you drive all the way over there. if you are driving to the bay bridge toll plaza, you will see a little backup in the some of the lanes here. 15-20 minute delay as you drive through. the traffic continues to look pretty good driving there. let's talk about the south bay where northbound 101, 85, and 280 are off to a good start. no need to rush out of the house but it will get busier later. at 6:17 let's go to steve in the weather center. >> thank you. we do have a little disruption in the fog bank. a few low clouds around. but it's a cool air mass in place associated with a low that is up visiting near the oregon border. giving them some scattered

rain. the breeze has kicked in and even with a little bit more sunshine coast and bay it will not be that much warmer and inland temps will take a little tumble there. some light rain. not bad. it's all a bonus once you get to may. especially in the dry air. there is more on the way it looks like. some cloud cover in southern colorado. a big, big dividing line. and that gives you all sorts of severe weather. but first what was tropical storm anna now tropical depression giving a lot of rain to the carolinas. so it will be rainer there. it's losing its definition as it moves inland. look at the line of severe weather already. slicing through half of texas. this is blowing up. and then all the way through memphis up to st. louis as well and a little system coming out of colorado that has had seven days of mountain snow, hail, and rain on the front range. look at that coming out of pueblo some snow. 40s for napa and santa rosa.

50s for other temps. and nine degrees cooler in santa rosa than it was 24 hours ago. you lose that fog bank to take a plunge. most are running a couple of degrees cooler. water temps continue to be cold. upper 40s and low 50s. this is the key here. they have been very cold this month and surprise our weather has also turned more unsettled. pretty good breeze for many. some areas not too bad. for others it's a westerly breeze about 25-30 miles an hour at sfo. west at hayward. west, southwest at livermore. on shore breeze. 43 up in truckee. 52 monterey. 50s and 60s up in the valley. there will be a stronger one. this one will swing in near the oregon and california border. next one will park itself off the bay area and give us rain on thursday afternoon. we will see a couple days to fine tune the details. some sun but staying cool.

it is a cool pattern for the next seven days. below average temps certainly away from the coast. few areas pushing the up every 50s. 50s and 60s. thursday afternoon holding off until friday morning as well. and a little better on the weekend but not very warm. >> no, i thought i could turn the heater off for the year. you know. save some money. but no. it's chill. >> i don't even have that. 74-year-old woman wac on ground after being rescued from the summit. she fell and was injured while in a remote area on the east side of the mountain. chp helicopter was called in to assist the fire department yesterday afternoon. the woman was hoisted off the mountain and then transferred to an air ambulance that took her to the hospital. first fire started yesterday morning in the grove of eucalyptus trees. it took the fire crews seven hours to put it out. it burned more than three acres but no homes were damaged. and on the peninsula, a wild fire burned 11 acres in the san bruno mountain state and county park. the fire started on the side of the road near the direction of hillside boulevard and dolores way until south san francisco. the winds were strong. that made it hard to control the flames.

so a helicopter and two planes were called in to help battle the fire. it took more than two hours to put out the flames but no one was hurt, no structure was damage. the cause of that fire continues to be investigated. a new analysis suggesting that riding california's bullet trains could be one of the world's cheapest high speed rail trips. the athat sis by the l.a. times predicts the price of the ticket from san francisco to los angeles would be about $86. that is about $0.20 a mile compared to $0.46 a mile for the train in germany. the full line between san francisco and l.a. it will be open to passengers in 2028. four of the 48 driverless cars that are being tested right now in california they have been involved in collisions since september according to the associated press. three of them involved suvs that google has outfitted with

sensors. the other involved a car operated by auto parts maker delphi. the other two happened when the car was controlling itself. both companies say their cars were not at fault in any of the collisions and that the damage was minor. thousands of soccer fans gathered in the south bay over the weekend for a special send off to the u.s. team for the 2015 women's world cup. abby big star the women's national soccer team took on ireland yesterday and fans were pumped up following their 3-0 win. two of the three goals were courtesy of abby. all of the players moms were flown in after the surprise. >> after the second goal she looked up and so i knew that was my mothers day gift. >> several players with bay area ties to cal, stanford, and santa clara university say it was great to be back.

you will see there is a 15-20 minute delay. no problems getting on to the actual bridge into the city. we are seeing slow traffic in the east bay now. southbound is 880 beginning to slow just south of 280 as you drive down to hayward. it's 6:31 let's go back to the desk. it's 6:32 now. oakland business owners are speaking out against the mayor of oakland and the police chief after those may day protests. they were promised help to fix the damage done by vandals. there is one auto repair shop owner that is really showing how upset he is out there. right? >> reporter: that is for sure. he is not mincing words. last week after vandals attacked his store front, he

boarded up the windows and painted them. it says opd you failed us again. he is still angry. riot tourism. visit oakland. we will show you which block to trash. clearly a growing sense of frustration by people who had their store windows shattered at the hyundai dealership had 70-80 cars destroyed. this is is a look at the damage from the may day demonstrations that turned violent. cars on auto row were targeted. several businesses downtown still have their windows boarded up. oakland mayor libby schaaf promised the city would help since the police response she said fell short. girls talked about low interest loans but there has been nothing concrete. just empty promises. business owners say they shouldn't have to pay a dime for something they are not responsible for and something the police they say didn't prevent. we will reach out to the mayor's office today and see what the hold up is and see if any progress has been made. live from oakland i'm tara moriarty, back to you.

all right tara, thank you. time is 6:33. some frustrated people in vallejo are calling for violence to stop after the terrible incident involving a seven-year-old boy a couple weeks ago. now yesterday a small group gathered for a rally called peace matters. the woman that organized this says she was motivated by the drive by shooting that injured kamar polk. his grandmother says he is not doing well. police are still searching for suspects. >> i wanted to just doll something and i told people it wasn't for him but it was because of what happened to him that as a community we needed to just talk, communicate. >> she says she planned it for mothers day because it's often the mothers who are left behind to mourn the violence that injures or kills their children. the new protest song by prince is now online.

♪ >> the pop star released baltimore saturday a day before his special rally for peace concert. it was held yesterday in baltimore's royal farm arena. con is set goers were out to wear green. now newly released records show that in recent years, thousands of people have been brought to the baltimore city jail with injuries too severe for them to be admitted. the baltimore sun looked at records from june 2012 to april of this year and found correctional officers at the baltimore city detention center refused to admit almost 2600 detainees because they were sufferinfrom medical conditions. in take officers noted a wide variety of injuries including fractured bones and facial and head trauma. a new report also finds

that several police departments where officers using body cameras have seen dramatic declines in police use of force complaints. they began equipping officers with the wearable cameras five years ago. use of force complaints have declined 72% in oakland. chef shawn whent says it has civilizing effects on both sides of the camera. in oakland use of force reports dropped from nearly 2200 in 2009 to 611 last year. oakland is currently the largest department in the u.s. to equip all of its officers with body cameras but that is is likely to change soon since many departments roll out their new programs late last month. the city of menlo park also has been using body cameras since 2012. the year before that the city's police department had nine use of force understand accidents. in 2013 that number dropped to

6. according to the chronicle, cover bell have been issuing cameras as well. they see a number of declines. >> your time is 6:36. the war on isis has gone viral. the terror group is using social media and youtube videos to recruit fighters from right here in the u.s.. brian flores is in our newsroom to tell us how the united states is responding and whether it's working. >> reporter: the u.s. state department hopes so. essentially what is going on here is the social media show down between isis and the u.s. and some are call it the viral battleground. what analysts are seeing is the videos that were poorly made by isis they are now becoming increasingly sophisticated. officials say the production value has gone up and with it the effectiveness this reaching potential recruits here in the u.s.. homeland security secretary jay johnson discussed it on this

week. >> very definitely in a new phase in the global terrorists threat where the so-called lone wolf could strike at any moment. >> we have this phenomenon in the united states where they can be activated by the internet and really terrorism has gone viral. >> reporter: now in a counterattack the u.s. state department is turning to social media as well. it's called think again, turn away. some videos tell of isis recruits that have lived to regret their decisions to join the fight. another says for those that sign up with the terror group, travel is inexpensive because you won't need a return ticket. it's followed by graphic images of dead isis fighters. ever since the u.s., twitter, or youtube accounts were opened, experts are questioning whether it's working to keep people from joining isis.

>> brian flores in our newsroom, thank you. time is 6:38. two private transit companies competing with san francisco's muni they are gaining fans. leap and chariot they offer service during the morning and evening commutes for about twice the price of muni. chariot which launched last year says two of its routes are already making money. leap which started in march they are not talking about the profitability yet. critics say the services are another sign of the growing gap between wealthy tech workers and everybody else. today the class of 2015 will be induct into the bay area sports hall of fame. former giants manager dusty baker one of those being inducted. he won manager of the year awards in 1997 and 2000. he also played 19 years in the majors including two with the a's and one with the giants. other members joining baker barry bonds who played 21 years

including 15 with the giants. he made 14 all star game appearances. golfer roger maltbie he played for san jose state. and had five wins on the pga tour. frankly franklin owned the golden state warriors. and johnny mosby. former giants star pablo sandoval won't be leaving the bay area empty handed. he is in town with the boston red sox. according to a tweet by bruce bochy and larry bear presented him with his world series ring. bochy says pablo was a big

little bit more relaxing commute. that is because cal train is adding an extra car to some of the trains during the peak travel times. ktvu fox 2 alex savidge is joining us live. you're at the san mateo station so what is going on with the extra space and cars? >> well, you know it should make for a much more comfortable ride for commuters. as a matter of fact here. one of the new six-car trains there it goes. heading southbound here from the hillsdale station. that is the second one we have seen out here. and take a look here this is the first one you saw came in early this morning. that one arrived here at the hills dale station a half hour ago. the car he added on to the

popular trains will mean an extra 150 feet potentially for passengers and these trains are often over crowded right now. cal train has seen an a four year increase in ridership. four straight years in ridership with an average of 60,000 riders using the system each day and so that is why cal train went out and bought 16 ewed cars. four of those cars have been put into service right away. the others need a little bit repair work. riders tell me these additional cars are desperately needed. >> will get on and -- and they have the other train and it's all the way full. >> reporter: so this morning you have six cars coming in here and you're hoping for? >> room to sit. >> reporter: although there is one issue to point out here

with these new longer trains, apparently some cal train platforms are not designed to accommodate those six car trains and what that will mean is the doors of one train car won't be able to open at particular stations and passengers will have to just simply travel to another train car so that they can exit but dave cal train says they are working to modernize all the stations so they can accommodate the longer trains. >> that is interesting. that will bring that tension level down too for that ride to work. >> absolutely. that is right. everyone can relax. >> alex savidge, thank you. the parents of a student who committed suicide in his dorm room are filing a wrongful lawsuit. they claim school employees ignored clear warning signs just hours before 18-year-old brendan tiggs death. he showed up drunk to his dorm. two resident advisors recognized him and let him in.

we'll see you then. >> let's go to our live pictures. you can see traffic is going to be backed up at the bay bridge toll plaza for a little bit here for about a 20-25 minute delay before you make it on to the bridge. also looking at the commute on the san mateo bridge that traffic looks good in case you are just joining us. the san mateo bridge opened on time. in fact it opened a little bit early at the 4:00 hour. i'm drawing a line on the map here. you can see traffic is going to be slow from 238 heading down to union city. it gets better by the time you reach fremont. 6:48 let's go to steve. you like the cool pattern? >> i do. yes. i will tell you though temperatures by the coast and around the bay were very cool this weekend. some did not get out of the upper 50s. san francisco is only 57 yesterday. amazing how those water temps went from 60 to 49 that weather changed. we see a little disruption in that fog bank. there is still some out there.

the death toll from last months earthquake in nepal continues to rise. officials say the numbers stand at 8,000. nearly 18,000 people were injured during the quake. 366 people are still listed as missing. another 300,000 damaged. tremors and aftershocks were still being felt across the country on friday. the california shirpa association will be holding a
