her house at the backdoor. >> i asked what is he doing here. and then he said to me, this is my house. >> reporter: she said the man was calm. >> walked here and went upstairs. >> reporter: her four year daughter was in her room, she called 911. >> she kept telling me calm down, don't panic. i wanted to get my daughter. come on. come on. >> reporter: she grabbed her toddler and ran outside. no clue what was happening upstairs. her daughter all alone. >> she was brave and calm. she didn't panic. >> reporter: she told her mom the man said nothing. >> sat in here. and then hid in the closet. funny how he was able to work it out. >> reporter: she picked up her iphone after police arrested the intruder and led him out of the house. police confirm the man was lopez, booked on resisting

arrest and burglary and in a twist the victim in the case says his family lives two doors down. we went to the home. >> i am glad nothing happened to my daughter. >> the suspect's mother said he was a good kid. >> is he going to come back? >> reporter: it is a mother's job to keep her kids safe. >> come on. >> reporter: in antioch, noelle walker, ktvu fox 2 news. a san jose family is going public with a home invasion robbery in the hopes of finding the men responsible. it was caught on surveillance video. two men entered the home and armed themselves with knives. all the while two women and a baby are hiding upstairs. the men go upstairs and move from room to room, discovering

the women. that woman's husband describes what happened next. >> when they start kicking the door and start to attack them with the knife and the knife was just beside her and she got scared. >> that was the woman who described what happened. one of the women called for help. they were not physically hurt. they are hoping someone recognizes those intruders. a heart breaking story in san francisco. a 12-year-old boy was killed today after police say he ran out into traffic and was struck by a muni train. many people are saying the interaction has been dangerous for years. ktvu's david stevenson spoke to witnesses who described the scene as the boy's mother learned about what happened. >> reporter: this is the city's 6th pedestrian fatality and neighbors are saying no more. flowers mark the sidewalk where

the 12-year-old was struck and killed by light rail vehicle this morning. >> sad. sad. >> the boy was on his way to school and darted out into traffic. witnesses say his parents were nearby and rushed to the scene. >> she was hysterical. trying to move the train. trying to pull the kid out from under the train. she lost it. >> reporter: grief counselors were available to student. the superintendent said i extend my deepest condolences. we all share in the grief tonight. >> just horrific. >> reporter: investigators are talking to passengers and studying video from the train. with one stop sign for the three way intersection, neighbors say traffic makes it too dangerous for pedestrians. >> i am horrified to cross that intersection. >> we need stop sign or a street light. two months ago another kid that

lives across the street got hit by a car. >> reporter: the transportation agency says the last pedestrian injury reported here was in 2008. and last year it has been working on a four way flashing beacon. >> a year ago they sent someone to see how fast the traffic was going. but they didn't do anything about it. >> reporter: the driver of the lrv is a veteran, experienced operator. he was taken off duty, tested for drugs and alcohol and offered counseling as well. counseling was offered for the first responders who came to the scene and tried to aid the boy and wur devastated by what they saw. >> so sad. thank you. man accused of two attempted sexual sexual assaults in san jose appeared in court today. he was charged with crimes that could put him in prison for

life. he is accused of following a 13- year-old girl home from school last week. watch what happens here. tried to attack the girl. right there in the hallway. she was brave and fought him off. police say he is the same man who tried to attack a woman at a market last month. he was arrested last friday thanks to a tip from a resident. warning for thousands of bay area parents with young children. a clinic in the south bay sent out letters telling parents 10,000 doses of vaccine used in the past year may not have been as effective as they should have been. ktvu's ann rubin is here with what parents need to know. >> reporter: it happened at the sutter health palo alto medical foundation's los gatos pediatric clinic. doctors say a refrigerator wasn't operating properly. a letter went home to 4300 patient whose might have been effected by the problem.

the temperature was fluctuating and one to two degrees too cold. doctors say they waited to notify patients till they could get an action plan in place. each patient will receive options. some won't have to do anything. those who got other vaccines may get blood tests or another dose of vaccine if necessary. doctors want to reassure them there is not a safety issue here. >> what that has done is put into question the effectiveness of the vaccines we gave. not the safety. there is no safety concern here whatsoever. it is where they as effective as they normally would be. >> the clinic set up a hot line and offering extra appointments for patients who want to discuss their action plan. they replaced older refrigerators and put in new protocols for checking them. >> ann rubin live tonight,

thank you. imagine walking outside in the morning to see your car with wheels gone. it happened in north oakland recently. ktvu's allie rasmus is live to explain what car owners can do to protect their property. >> reporter: police say it is a crime that is hard to keep track of because many people don't report it. they pay out of pocket or let their insurance handle it. but they noticed the trend. >> i was holding back crying. >> the source of her frustration, seeing her car with all four wheels gone. >> jacked up with a jack. that side was held up with a stack of bricks. >> reporter: it happened over night may 1. the vehicle was a loaner car from the deepership -- dealership. they said it was a problem

other customers experienced too. an employee sent us a picture of all the jacks he collected from cars that had their wheels stolen. the latest happened yesterday. it is the 4th wheel theft in the neighborhood in the past 10 days. >> people work hard for the things they have. you feel violated when somebody takes those things from you. >> with the tires and wheels on newer cars it is not uncommon to pay a thousand dollars for a set of tires. >> reporter: he says the more valuable the tires the more attractive they are to thieves. >> flee markets are common for selling stolen tires. they will offer them on 25 don't the dollar. >> the cost to owners add up. she had to pay for the stolen

computer and engineering program. they received $5 million from intel. they will share the grant. intel will help the two schools over 5 years develops curriculum, buy computer, train teachers and offer mentors and job shadowing programs. gas prices around the country will remain low throughout the summer except in california. they expect the national average to be $2.55. that would be the lowest nationwide average since 2009. reduced supply due to a fire in southern california will keep california gas prices higher. a car wash on the peninsula is taking the guilt out of washing your car during the drought. eco green auto clean in redwood city is washing cars without any hoses or high powered sprays. they estimate they use less than a cup of water per car. the owner developed the spray solution that lifts the dirt
