bb king passed away last night. a lot of people are waking up to that. >> yeah and finding out that news. thank you for joining us. it is friday, may 15th i'm pam cook. >> good morning, i'm dave clark. let's talk about your weather and traffic on a friday morning. steve paulson has the forecast. >> a lot calmer here. san diego is going to get a lot of rain today. a lot of rain. and this is the system that moves out across the plains there will be a major severe outbreak. in the plains. i mean major. as it comes out of the four corners. if you have travel plans sunday, monday and flying across the country, i would expect a lot of turbulence. this will be a wicked system. these are very strong for may. for us we have a lot of low clouds in place. could be an isolated shower or two. if it does it will be san jose south. all the action now.

northbound 101 still not a big crowd. you have a little bit of time to get to the the valley. 6:02 let's go back to the desk. it is somber day in vallejo one day after a well liked senior was shot to death. ktvu fox 2 reporter alex savidge is joining us now with what we are learning about the 17-year-old victim. alex. >> reporter: pam, good morning to you. this community certainly is in mourning this morning. we can say that about the loss of this young man who was shot to death yesterday here along the pathway which is close to the campus and you can see what people have left behind here. quite a few candles. bouquet of flowers. there is a skate board that

says rip max. he was shot at about noon on this walking path. >> very full of life. he loved his friends and family. didn't care too much for school but everybody has their down fall. >> bush also told us last night that his son loved skate boarding and was planning to get a job after graduation and then potentially look into attending college somewhere. vallejo police have not announced any arrest in connection with this homicide

and the best lead investigators have to go on at this point is witnesses spotted a man running down this pathway shortly after this shooting took place. but there is only a vague description on that man at this point. so obviously they need more people to come forward. >> hopefully they will get more people who come forward. thank you. we are also following new developments out offal pal where a wreckage of a u.s. marine has been found. there are reports that three bodies were found at the site. the helicopter disappeared not tuesday. the investigation in philadelphia of tuesday's deadly amtrak derailment is focused on the train's engineer. a search warrant for the cell phone records of brandon that train engineer reportedly has been obtained by the police. investigators want to know if he was on his phone or maybe

texting before that crash. he suffered a concussion in the crash. so far he has refused the to give a formal statement to the police but he has agreed to talk to investigators for the national transportation safety board which is not a law enforcement agency. the ntsb says it doesn't think the derailment was caused deliberately but for some reason that train sped up from 70 miles an hour to 100 miles an hour one minute before the derailment. now all 243 people who were on the train they have now been accounted for. so far eight people have died from injuries. one of the victims had ties to us in the bay area. abid gilani used to live here before he went to new york. >> they go through a lot. >> mt. in the meantime the eighth victim he was discovered

yesterday inside of a rail car by a police dog. couple days earlier his 13-year- old son here printed fliers pleading with the public to find his missing father. the first lawsuit has been filed for that amtrak derailment. the plaintiff and amtrak dispatcher injured in the crash. he is is still in the hospital for brain trauma. amtrak is responsible for that derailment. whether it was caused by mechanical failure or human error. the federal lawsuit is seeking damages in excess of $150,000. excess materials from a weld that should have been ground down. bart is now looking into that and all of the rail associated

with that manufacturing batch. well known man from concord has been arrested and accused of possession of child pornography. police in concord said they arrested jeff casper at his home last week. according to his website, he is the former chairman of the greater concord chamber of commerce. the mt. diablo health care district and one time served as the president of the concord rotary club. he also owned several businesses. he served as master of ceremonies at charitable auctions and other events. kasper was booked for harmful and obscene manner of depicting minors in sexual acts. legendary blues guitarist bb king has died. ♪

time is 6:11. we have developing news coming in from guam. a powerful typhoon has knocked down power lines and trees. this typhoon is centered between guam and the island of rota. residents are warned stay inside. now so far there are no reports of serious damage or injuries. several flights into and out of guam they are canceled today. people there have been getting ready for that typhoon for the past week. meantime in southern california stormny weather you -- stormy weather you have heard steve talk about it. they rescued a driver that was trapped in several feet of water. more than an inch of rain was recorded at san diego's airport. the weather forced a rain delay in last nights game between the padres and washington

nationals. it was only a fifth rain delay at petco park in san diego since it opened in 2004. after months of negotiations, the city of san jose and its police union have cleared the way for use of body cameras on police officers. yesterday they announced an agreement on how the cameras will be used to protect the privacy of officers and the public. cameras will not be used during free speech demonstrations or at hospitals. the department says it will be testing several cameras before it picks a vendor. officials say they do expect officers will be fully outfitted by june of next year. >> we would like to think we are very patrol guessive. we have been seen as a model nationally. i think our policy will be seen as a model nationally. >> meanwhile in oakland police say they have seen a dramatic decrease in the use of force since their officers started using body cameras in 2013. a california man is suing uber.

he claims the car share idea that was his idea. kevin claims uber stole his idea for a realtime cellular cell phone based system. back in 2006 he talked about his ideas with the men that would later develop uber which officially launched in 2008. potential investments could increase uber's value to $50 billion. he posted a youtube video he sued two other tech companies claim leg got them started. one case was dismissed and the other he did receive $250,000 settlement. a woman claims mayor johnson took her into his private city hall library and pressed his body against her. the mayor asked her to start a sexual relationship.

the alleged harassment began in december of 2013. but johnson harassed her three more times in 2014. now she is seeking $200,000 in damages. but yesterday mayor johnson said the city had investigated the allegations and found them to be unsubstantiated. the nfl players association filed an appeal on behalf of new england patriots quarterback tom brady. the nfl suspended brady for four games over his involvement in deflating footballs. his suspension was based oned findings of a report to conclude it was more probable than not that tom brady was aware of the deflated footballs in the afc championship game. roger goodell says he will personally hear the appeals. the city of san francisco now has a four part plan to reduce congestion in the city. police and parking control officers will be out this morning cracking down on double parking, cars blocking intersections, and delivery trucks blocking traffic.

they are also checking to see the construction projects are complying with regulations and officers will focus on certain areas like the south of market neighborhood, 19th avenue, and van ness. there is also an unusual proposal on the table to help solve the problem to solve bay bridge. considering a wrongway bus lane. the idea is turn an eastbound lane into a westbound lane during the morning commute just for buses. that would allow transit agencies to run more bus into san francisco. this would be the fastest way to fix the traffic problem. it would cost though an estimated $51-$177 million. interesting. time is 6:16. let's get you out the door on a friday morning. how is everybody looking in the south bay? >> it looks pretty good dave and pam. right now northbound 280, 101, 517 we will start off with a live picture for you and take a

look at 280 northbound. traffic is looking good. right now on the south bay sometimes we get a later start and it's lighter than usual. you can look at the south bay map and see the traffic not only 280 that we see here. if you look at the maps you can see 280 all of those look good. a little bit of crowding on the altamont pass. but now on a regular weekday we have much more slow traffic. we will take that. and getting up to the bay bridge toll plaza that is backed up. there is a backup of 10-15 minutes before you make it on to the span. but steve says it's not going to rain today so the commute will be better. >> commute will be fine. the evening commute for some was tough yesterday. for others there was no rain at all. there might be an isolated shower or two east or south. a lot of low clouds in place. it's a cool pattern for some yesterday. for others not far away.

half an inch to an inch. rowdy ranch golf course had an inch of rain. marsh creek fire station. marsh creek road had an inch of rain. scott stein here said my total was zero. most likely because i took my umbrella. [ laughter ] thank you, scott. that is probably why. the system that produced the rain has moved south to southern california. you can see moisture streaming back. i will mention morgan hill, gilroy, san martin. down until southern california they are getting really heavy rain. the record wettest may was 2.54 back in 1921 and i think they will beat that. it looks like a day of rain continuous for them. you can see everything is rotating in this system that you have over us is very strong for may and as it ejects out, it's going to pick up a lot of

golf moisture. so yesterday's system has moved south. we're on the northern edge of it. a few isolated showers i will say that but it looks like a partly sunny, partly cloudy day. it's not very warm. 40s and 50s on your temps. there is a breeze behind this for most. it is westerly or southwest. son-in-law of the moisture continues to stream into the sierra. you can see some cloud cover wrapping back around. a mix of sun and clouds. it's nice but it's a little breezy and on the cool side here. just a wee bit warmer. upper 60s and 70s. antioch was 67 degrees. that is 10-12-degrees below average. a lot of locations still struggling to get above the upper 60s. fog will be with us. nights and mornings. and on monday there may be another system dropping in. >> the weekend a little warmer than we have this week.

dozens of people in china took car pooling to a whole new level. recently police pulled the six seater van over found 51 people crammed inside. police say it looks like a clown car. the people inside say they were construction workers. 51 people. i don't even know. they say they were told by their boss to cram into that van in order to save time on their commute. after testing driverless cars in empty parking lots for years, google is about to put some of those cars out on to streets. 25 of those cars will be tested next month in mountain view but they will be restricted to neighborhood streets where the speed limit is 25 miles an hour. the dmv is finishing the new operational rules for automated cars making it the first government agency in the whole world to create a detailed handbook for driverless cars.

sausalito is considering extreme measures to slow the roll of bikes into that area. but there are inquiriesing complaints about traffic problems. and now the city is considering limiting the number of bikes entering sausalito. requiring all bicycles that come in to be licensed and even cracking down on bike parking. >> there is an existing ordnance that says you can't park on the sidewalk. it really hasn't been enforced and it is never a bicycle parked to a meter. they come in groups well the average is four but you can have up to eight and no one gets fined. >> the issue is expected to be taken up by the city council on tuesday. we are two days away from the colorful foot race. bay to breaker participants can start picking up their packets. runners can get a look at the latest fitness technology, the gear, and nutrition. the race starts at 8:00 sunday

it's chilly, it's gray, some clouds out there too. >> yes a cool pattern. >> i wore a coat i normally wear in february. some of the low cloud deck is in place. give it credit. there is zero support for a lot of fog. there is is no warm air aloft. there is no heat in the valley. a cool 46. northwest breeze to three miles an hour. any spring rain is good and may has been great. i would agree with that 100%.

the pathway where the shooting took place yesterday afternoon. this is right behind jesse bethel high school. on that skate board they wrote rip max. he loved to skate board according to his family. he was gunned down yesterday at about noon. it was on this walking path which is close to a skate park and this is a spot where teenagers tend to come and hang out. family members and friends came together for a vail jill. they are trying to understand why they would target rusk. his father told us he was a loving son. >> he was looking forward to getting his first job. and he's been trying. he's just a good boy. the pain is is unbelievable.

i really can't put it into words. >> reporter: and his father told us max was planning to get a job after graduation and looking at possibly attending college somewhere. vallejo police are investigating obviously trying to track down the killer in this case. they have not announced any arrests but as of now, dave, the best lead investigators have to go on is reports from witnesses who spotted a man running away from the shooting scene, down this walking path here but they have only a vague description on that person. obviously more witnesses needed to come forward in this case. >> alex savidge from vallejo, thank you. police in san jose they have arrested a second teenager in connection with that home invasion we talked about it yesterday. captured on surveillance camera. it happened last friday afternoon. it shows the suspects grabbing kitchen knives and going through the house. two women and a young child

were hiding in a bedroom but they were not hurt. a 17-year-old surrendered to police. yesterday police arrested a 16- year-old. both of those are being held at the juvenile hall. the owner of a plus size langly shop believes his store is being targeted by vandals. her curvey girl shop has been hit three times in the past two months. water as you know is a very precious resource especially in drought but a local newspaper is reporting that thousands of

gallons of fresh water is being wasted for tearing down in the demolition of candle stick park. ktvu fox 2 brian flores is joining us live now. you're near candle stick telling us about the source of recycled water the developer could be using for free, brian. >> reporter: yeah that is exactly right, dave. but what is being reported at least from this article is that right now the developer in charge of tearing down candle stick as we take a live look at it right now is using water directly from hetch hetchy reservoir but as you can see it's kind of tough to see. very tough for giants and 49ers fans demolition work continues. and this is a look high above from our view from sky fox. you can see the work being done there. crews taking apart the stick piece by piece instead of imploding it. but it's the type of water that is being used now that is in

question. as first reported by the bay area news group thousands of fresh drinking watt fresh hetch hetchy reservoir is being used to keep down the dust. the paper says lanar who is in charge of the demolition and construction of that retail and housing development planned for the stick says the company could have received free recycled watt fresh a sewage treatment plant being offered by the city. lanar from what they understood a public utilities e-mail told them the recycled water could not be used for larger demolitions. but they say lanar misinterpreted the e-mail and will talk to them. as we take you back out here live it could be a case of misinterpretation but in any case it was a misinterpretation apparently thousands of gallons of water being use marylanden we tried to reach out to lanar but we have not heard back. guys, back to you.

>> okay brian that will be interesting. thank you. the golden state warriors they are in memphis right now getting ready for game six of the nba semi finals tonight and if they win, they move on to the western conference finals. yesterday we were in oakland airport the players and coaches. there is steve kerr there. there is one of the young rookies carrying the drinks. here is steph curry getting on a good easy move. they lead the series three games to two. game six starts tonight. 6:30 again. if the warriors win, the series is over. steph will roll right on. but if memphis wins, there will be a game seven. it will be at oracle sunday afternoon. floyd mayweather junior's hit when she was at wednesday nights game at the warriors caused quite a stir. the a lot of the fans booed him when he was introduced.

tmz says there was an altercation that night between a woman and the entourage of floyd mayweather. she was heckling him and hit a member of mayweather's entourage with a plastic inflated thunder stick. now oakland police stepped in. they say there is a record of some incident. now police called it a mutual combat battery between a man and a come but apparently it was resolved, nobody was arrested. no charges filed. >> this is definitely going to be mutual combat. he is never going to be confused with floyd mayweather but mitt rom know stepping into the boxing ring tonight. >> please welcome mitt the glove romney. >> i didn't know he was the glove. he will face evander holyfield in a charity matchup. romney says he is used to political barbs not boxing jabs but you can see he tried to

good morning. welcome back to mornings on 2. time is 6:43. a man from vacaville is accused of flying a drone near the white house yesterday setting off a security alert. now the u.s. park police says 39-year-old ryan mcdonald flew the small drone about 110 feet over lafayette park. now although it never crossed the white house fence line, traffic was shut down on pennsylvania avenue and the white house briefly was on lock down. the secret service ordered

mcdomed to land that -- mcdonald to land that drone. more than 1,000 students using in uc berkeley dorms are finding out about a hidden camera inside one of the warms. tara moriarty is there to tell us about who police believe the suspect is and how he hid these cameras. >> reporter: detectives say it was actually a male staffer who hid the camera inside a dorm bathroom and they say it had been there for two weeks. now let's take a look at the room where it happened. it's a bathroom in the basement where police say the camera was hidden and used to record women. it's in the lower level of the unit. the staffer lured his victims down to a long hall to the rarely used staffer locker room. by posting an out of order sign on the regularly used bathroom. >> it says it was not working and we were directed to the

other one. >> it looked really sketchy. it was just blue tape and a sign. and then we were redirected down this hallway. >> reporter: detectives say that the camera was disguised as an electrical outlet. one of dozens marketed online as a spy camera. or nanny cam. detectives say it was eye opening for them to see cameras tuck into so many fake household objects. the outlet cam was discovered by a staffer who didn't think it looked quite right. police are going through the suspects computer and counted at least 50 women on his videos. he has been fired but not yet arrested. with finals approaching, students say it's just one more thing they have to stress about. live from uc berkeley i'm tara moriarty, back to you. our time is 6:45. let's check in with tori

sal. >> it sure does. >> and if you are 15, i don't want to hear from you. let's take a look at the commute now. traffic will be a little slow in some areas. starting off with highway 24 westbound as you drive past the orinda cross roads and into the tunnel. maybe a little bunching up but not that bad. driving over to the bay bridge toll plaza you will see slow traffic here. it's backed up for a 15 minute delay. 880 has already improved. we might be on the improvement end of this commute. at least for drivers that are approaching from 880. westbound 580 is not as bad as it normally is. otherwise it looks good from livermore to pleasanton. let's go to today's forecast. here is steve. sal, thank you. a lot quieter today. i know some of you didn't get a drop of rain. san francisco and oakland and much of the coast and others absolutely the skies opened up in port. today will be a little better. some sun, not more.
