it is friday light. 703. let's go back to the desk. >> thank you. the search continues for the person who shot and killed a high school senior who was four weeks away from graduating. it happened yesterday on a pathway near a skate park behind the high school. alex savage is live now with a look at the memorial that continues to grow in the teen's honor. we can see balloons behind you. >> tory good morning to you and this memorial is the spot where the shooting happened along a pathway next to a drainage canal as a matter of fact right behind the high school. this community the out pouring of support for this teenager who lost his life yesterday, flowers and candles left behind and a skate board over there on the left hand side that says rip max for the victim who loved to skate board. now this scene, this memorial is right behind bethel high

school and the group of young men dropped by this memorial for a moment of silence. they didn't want to talk with us on camera but came here for a moment of reflection this morning. they came to honor the 17-year- old who was gunned down yesterday about noon. the killing happened on this walking path close to a skate park an area where teenagers tend to come hang out. he was just four weeks away from graduation looking forward to his future after high school. his family and friends gathered for a vigil here at this spot last night. they are all still trying to understand why someone who target him. police have not said what the motive may have been for this killing. his father told us max was a loving young man. >> very respectful, very fine and full of life. he loved his friends and his family. didn't care too much for school but everybody's got their downfalls. >> and his father also told us that max was planning to get a

job after graduation and then looking at possibly attending college somewhere. the police have not announced arrests in connection with this homicide. the lead they have thus far is a man who was spotted running from the shooting scene yesterday afternoon shortly after the shots were fired but only a vague description so more witnesses are needed in this case and we'd like to point out there will be grief counselors on the campus for students who need them. >> it's hard close to graduation also. thank you alex. after months of negotiations the city of san jose and it's police union have cleared the way for the use of body cameras on police officers. yesterday they announced an agreement on how the cameras will be used to protect the privacy of officers as well as the public. the agreement says cameras will not be used during free speech demonstrations or hospitals. the department will be testing

several campuses and officers will be fully out fitted by june of next year. >> we like to think we are progressive and have been in a lot of programs scene as a model nationally and i think that our policy will be also seen as a model enationally. >> meanwhile in woke oakland they have seen the decrease in crime since 2013. we are following new developments out of nepal. the wreckage of a missing u.s. marine helicopter has been found. six marines and two soldiers were on board. their reports that three bodies were found at that crash site and the government official in nepal says it's not likely anyone survived. the helicopter disappeared on tuesday while delivers supplies to the villages hit hard by two earthquakes. the investigation in philedelphia of tuesday's deadly amtrack derailment

focusing this morning on the train's engineer. a search warrant for the cell phone records of engineer brandon bostian has been obtained by the police. investigators want to know if he was on his phone or texting before the crash. he did suffer a concussion and has so far refused to give a statement to police. he has agreed to talk to investigators for the safety board which is not a law enforcement agency. the ntsb says the derailment was caused deliberately but for some reason the train sped up from 70 miles per hour to 100 miles per hour one minute before the derailment. now all 243 people on the train have now been accounted for. so far 8 people have died from their injuries. one of the victims had ties to the bay area. he used to live in walnut creek before moving to the east coast to be an executive for wells

fargo in new york. >> they've gone through a lot, diane his wife and their family, their two beautiful children have been through a lot. >> the 8th victim was discovered yesterday inside a rail car by a police dog. days earlier his 13-year-old son printed up flyers pleading with the public to find his missing father. the first lawsuit has been filed in the amtrack derailment case. it was an amtrack dispatcher being treated for brain trauma and spinal injuries. amtrack is responsible whether it was a mechanical failure or human error. they are seeking damages in excess of $150,000. we are learning more about the san francisco bart track that broke last week causing delays all day long. a chunk of the rail broke away

in an under ground tunnel between the 16th street and civic center stations wednesday. bart officials said the track had been flagged as an anomaly. excess material from a weld that should have been ground down. bart is looking into that and all the rail associated with that manufacturing batch. an east bay man with a lot of community involvement arrested for possession of child pornography. they arrested jeff cast per at his home last week. he is the former chairman of the greater chamber of congress and once served as the president of the conquer wrotey club and also owns several businesses and serves at master of ceremony. possession of harmful and object matter with minors in

♪[ music ] ♪ boy it sure has because bb king died last night at the age of 89 in his sleep at his home in las vegas. his real name was reilly king. he took on the name bb for blues boy. he was born in mississippi and came from a family of croppers. it was his cousin who taught him how to play the guitar. >> about 12 years old i decided i wanted to play and didn't get really serious about it until i was 18. >> when he got serious it took off in his 70 year music career he recorded more than 50 albums won 15 grammys among other awards. he kept performing well into his 80ssuffered from diabetes and had been in poor health over the past year.

his attorney says the funeral arrangements for bb king are under way. >> i had no idea where me came from until right now. >> yup. >> a california man is suing uber claiming the idea of car sharing was stolen from him. uber stole his idea for a real- time cellular phone based car service from his 2003 start up from cellular wireless and discussed it with the men who later developed uber which launched in 2008. potential investments could increase uber's value to $50 billion. he posted a youtube video detailing his lawsuit previously sued two other tech companies claiming he helped them get started. one case was dismissed and the other he received a quarter plan dollar settlement. policy chief will replace

former obama advisor david. he'll join uber's board of directors and continue to advise the company as uber expands to 250 cities around the world. google is one of uber's largest investors and mapping and driverless car technology. the city of san francisco now has a four part plan to reduce congestion during the morning and evening rush hours. police and parking control officers will be out this morning cracking down on double parking, cars blocking intersections and delivery trucks blocking traffic. they are also checking to see the construction projects complying with regulation. officers will focus on certain areas like the south of market neighborhood, 19th avenue and oak street. >> get ready for this. a very unusual proposal on the table to help solve the problem of bay bridge rush hour traffic. according to the san francisco chronicle transportation officials are considering creating a wrong way bus lane.

the idea turn an eastbound lane into a westbound lane during the morning commute just for buses. that will allow transit agencies to run more buses into san francisco. officials say that will be the fastest way to fix the traffic problem. it would cost between 51 and $177 million of the to do it. >> and i assume they would do the opposite in the evening commute to get everyone home so interesting idea but it would be nervous driving the wrong way. >> on the bay bridge. wow. >> just because i've been in the area for such a long time golden gate transit used to have buses drive the wrong way on the balanced o grade to bypass traffic during commute hours. they used to cone one of the lanes off and the buses would get onto the golden gate bridge. they stopped doing that but it was weird to see a bus coming at you. >> it would be confusing for

drivers. >> it's very safe. they put a double layer of cones up but it's unnerving to see that. good morning let's go outside and take a look at the commute. traffic is moving along relatively well getting better by the way in some areas. this is highway 4 lingering congestion but definitely improved in the last few minutes coming from pittsburgh to bay point on the way to concord. let's take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza a bit of improvement there into the city the 80 ramp and fast track golden then it's not a bad commute. 580 westbound slow traffic on the alternative mont pass but it looks good. let's go to steve. >> i was just in the news room speaking with you and it's the magic of television and now you are here and i'm there. >> thank you sir. >> we have more clouds around. a lot of those left behind

yesterday's system and and speaking of boy that's a chamber of commerce helicopter shot there i'll tell you, beautiful. some of that low cloud deck. cool but more sun today. yesterday some areas not a drop of rain. others today. i know it's orange but there's a red ridge that arcs the bay. okay this is from jim up at could be mountain. we have fog on could be. a quarter of an inch of rain mixed with hail too. some areas got the hail others nothing. crazy especially down in mount hampton. currently 48 degrees with a sea breeze and mostly cloudy skies in d.c. we do have a lot of clouds. record setting rain already. there's been really hefty totals for us on the dryer side. cloud cover favor takes to the south like gill roy and morgan hill. san diego possibility of setting record rain. there are big time returns

showing up right affect the coast. they've already had minor flooding. watch out the system turning right here. this is very impressive for may. this is something we see in march or february. and as these systems eject out a lot of energy going into the four corners the rockies and gulf low level jets come up from texas and stuff this is a big time severe weather producer as it moves across the country. even today. 40s and 50s on our temperatures. pretty good little breeze. oakland, nevada west not that strong. water temperatures came up to 55. i think we'll get a cool down on those as we get the northwest wind over the weekend. everything is from the winter until now. cool air in the west hot in the middle and east of the country. you combine these systems a lot of them are the same lows we had and gain a lot of strength as they move out. but here's the deal eight unearned look at the lines

campus now to tell us who police believe the suspect is and how they found that hidden camera. >> they say it was a male staffer and has been fired but not yet arrested and detectives say what's unique is the type of camera that was used. it looked like an electical outlet. another staffer noticed it thought it seemed out of place and alerted authorities. it's in a lower level of the unit 1 central building resident hall basement bathroom and the man lured women down the hall by posting an out of order sign on the regular one. this one was in plain view disguised as an outlet one of dozens marketed on line as a spy cam. just last month the student was arrested for sticking cameras in one of the halls. >> this year there's been so many incidents and now everybody is supercautious about going to the bathrooms.

high school tonight at 730 and a vigil for williams will be monday night. san has a police have arrested a second person caught on surveillance cameras happening last friday afternoon in the evergreen neighborhood. videos show the suspects arming themselves with kitchen knives. two women and a young child were hiding in a bedroom but they were not hurt. a 17-year-old surrendered yesterday police arresting a 16- year-old boy yesterday. both teens are being held at the juvenile hall. water as we know is a precious resource especially during the drought but thousands of gallons of drinking water is being wasted for the demolition of candle stick park. brian flores is live with the source the developer could be using for free. it's interesting it's not being used. >> it is interesting good morning to you and the developer is using water

directly from the reservoir but as you can see from where we are standing at demolition work continues. very tough to see many fans looking at what's left of the old candle stick park. crews are taking apart piece by piece instead of imploding it but using water to keep down dust from blow inning the bay but it's the type of water that's being questioned now. as first reported by the bay area news group thousands of gallons of fresh drinking water was being used on the demolition project. they say who is in charge of the retailed housing development says the company could have received free recycled water from a sewage treatment plant being offered from the city but a public utility commission e-mail told them the recycled water could not be used for larger projects but according to the paper he

new this morning a vacaville man is accused of flying a drone near the white house yesterday which set off a security scare. the united states park police say 39-year-old ryan mcdonald flew the small unmanned aircraft over lafayette park. although the drone never crossed the white house fence

this morning for the person who shot and killed a high school senior only 17 years old four weeks away from graduating. ktvu fox 2's allen savage is live with a look at the memorial growing in his memory. >> good morning to you. fellow students are saddened by the killing that took place yesterday here right behind jesse bethel high school in vallejo. this is the scene of the shooting and a large memorial has been set-up here with candles and flowers to honor 17- year-old max ru sk who was killed yesterday. there will be counselors on hand at the school for students today who maybe are having difficulty coping with what took place and this has been the scene all morning. lots of students dropping by this memorial some just asking to botch their heads for a moment of silence. they are all coming here to honor ru sk who was gunned down the middle of the school day four weeks away from graduation

according to family members looking forward to future after high school. his family and friends came together last night for a vigil here at the shooting scene trying to understand why someone who target him. police have not said what the motive may have been here. one of his childhood friends dropped by the memorial this morning on his way to class. >> he was always kind, respectful. he's a great person. it's kind of weird that he was one of the people that was always proud to say he was from here. >> max's father told us last night he was planning after graduation to look for a job and then possibly look at attending college somewhere. police have not announced any arrests in connection with this homicide yesterday. the best lead investigators have to go on tory is a man who was spotted running away from the shooting scene yesterday

but there's not a exact description on that person that we can put out to the public this morning so more witnesses certainly are needed in this case. >> absolutely. sounds like police will be looking for that. thank you alex. the investigation into tuesday's amtrack derailment in philedelphia is centering on the engineer. police have obtained a search warrant for the cell phone records of brandon bostian. investigators are looking to see if he was on the phone or texting before the crash. he has declined to give a formal statement to philedelphia police. he has agreed to talk to the national transportation safety board which is not a law enforcement agency. ntsb does not think it was deliberate but for some reason the train sped from 70 miles per hour to 106 miles per hour just a minute before the derailment. all 243 people on board the train have been accounted for. 8 have died from their

concord jail for possession of harmful and object scene matters of sexual acts. he was released on bail. after months of negotiations the city of san jose and the police union have agreed about using body cameras on police officers. yesterday they announced an agreement on how the cameras will be used to protect the privacy of officers as well as the public. that agreement says cameras will not be used during free speech demonstrations or at hospitals. department says it will be testing several cameras before they pick a vendor. officials say they expect police officers will be fully out fitted by june of next year. >> we like to think we are progressive. we have been in a lot of programs that we have seen as a model nationally and i think that our policy will be also seen as a model nationally. >> now oakland police say they have seen a dramatic drop in the use of force since their officers started using body cameras in 2013. an east bay man with a lot

half a million cyclists crossed the golden gate bridge every year but there are increasing complaints about traffic problems. the city is considering limiting the number of bikes entering requiring all bikes to come into to be licensed and even cracking down on bike parking. >> there's an existing ordinance to park on the sidewalk that hasn't been enforced and it's never a bicycle parked to a meter. the average is groups of four but you can have up to eight all parked in one meter and no one gets by. >> the issue is it expected to be taken up by the city council on tuesday. >> time 824 after testing those driverless cars and empty parking lots google is about to put some of those cars on silicone valley streets. 25 driverless cars will be tested next month restricted to neighborhood streets where the speed limits are 25 miles per

hour. the dmv is finishing the new operational rules for automated cars making it the first government agency in the world to create a detailed hand book for those driverless cars. the city of san francisco has a four part plan for reducing congestion during the morning and evening rush hour. police and parking control officers will be out this morning cracking down on double parking cars that block intersections and those delivery trucks tax payer block traffic. construction projects are complying with regulations. officers will focus on certain areas like the south of market neighborhood, 19th avenue oaks street and there's a very unusual proposal on the table to help solve the problem of bay bridge rush hour traffic. check this out. san francisco chronicle says transportation officials are considering creating a wrong way bus lane to turn an

students were killed. tonight hundreds will gather to remember their lives. mendoza and sara williams were passengers in the car that crashed tuesday night. the driver was suspected of being under the influence and survived the crash. a memorial service for mendoza and will be held at 730 tonight at mount madonna high school. a vigil will be held for miss williams monday night. police have arrested a second teenager in connection with a home infoblox observation caught on surveillance cameras. it happened last friday afternoon in the evergreen neighborhood. the suspects can be scene grabbing knives out of the kitchen. two women and a young child were hiding in the bedroom but they were not hurt. a 17-year-old surrendered to police on wednesday. police arrested a 16-year-old boy yesterday. both teenagers are now being held at the juvenile hall. the owner of a plus sized

near candle stick park with the resource of the recycled water the developer could be using for free. brian. >> hi dave good morning to you. according to the article that i read through the bay area news group this morning the water being used is directly from the reservoir but demolition work continues at what's left of candle stick park. crews taking apart the stick piece by piece. part of that work is using water to keep down dust from blow inning the bay but the type of water can being used in question. first reported by bay area news groups thousands of drinking water was being used to keep down the dust on the demo project. lenore who is in charge of the commission planned for this area says the company could have received free recycled water from a nearby sewage treatment plant being offered by the city of san francisco.

morning and san francisco police embraced the very busy one of a kind event. the race begins sunday morning at 8 but the festivities start today at 11. participants can start picking up their race pacts and can sample new exercise gear technology and food. the san francisco police department embraces the bay to racers and will have officers along the route to make sure people are safe and have fun. >> we love it every year where people come to the city and see the craziest funnest costumes and it's basically a great event. we are there to facilitate the race route and make sure everyone has a great time. if you are going to come out have a great time and run the race. >> 50,000 people are expected to come out and run that race. join in the fun. no alcohol anywhere along the race and no backpacks or bags so be sure to look up the rules of what you can and cannot have with you on the course.
