today it's 68a65, 70, and 67. so another cool pattern. i don't see much change maybe near average but i'm not sold on it yet. i think another low is dropping in from the north to keep this pattern in a cool pattern. 50s on the temps. for some you can see a big low there. another one in southern california not doing much. and that is when they will keeps on the cool side and ramp up the drizzle. showers pop up again later in the afternoon but for most it's a cool pattern with 60s and 70s. 50s over by the coast for some. all right sal you have been busy here. >> we are still busy. steve, good morning to you. we will start off with a look at the east bay traffic which has been very slow moving along to the bay bridge toll plaza. it's backed up for a 15-20 minute delay and it looks like there is a stalled vehicle in the middle of that mess. at the toll plaza westbound. there is also a art of a

stalled ever vehicle. that would be the middle tunnel heading east there is a stalled vehicle there. let's move along and take a look at the commute on interstate 880 north and southbound. so the good things is a lot of the vehicle accidents have been no injuries but they are still causing slow traffic. if you are driving west on highway 4 bay point it's still good. let's go back to the desk. we begin with the breaking news of the amber alert we've been talking about of a six- year-old girl abducted in san jose. police have just told us that they found the girl in stockton. arrested two suspects and the amber alert is now canceled. officers say suspects 39-year- old maurice seen here. 35-year-old don atkinson took

crude oil that leaked along the coast. a pipeline ruptured yesterday near the beach just west of santa barbara. oil went into the drain. if the coast guard feels that amount could be higher. it did leave a thick coat of black tar stretching four miles wide. cleanup experts say it could send the oil four miles south. the lek was mugged three hours later. >> the beach was covered in thick black crude. the rocks were covered. the waves coming in were black oil. >> the beach and local fisheries have been shut down, the popular beach may be closed through the memorial day weekend. it's a very popular camping area. the pipeline belongs to texas

based plains all american pipeline. it is trying to help with the cleanup effort but does not know what caused the leak in the first place. orinda mayor steve glazer beat bonilla. glazer has 54% of the vote while bonilla has 35%. bonilla is a former t-shirt. glazer will fill the district 7 seat. and glazer will have to run for reelection next year. on his facebook page steve glazer wrote and i'm quoting one new state senator can't change california on its own but i will work with my

colleagues. some members of the oakland city council accused their own board of going too far. the controversy stems from a may 5th city council meeting when a group of people protesting the construction of an apartment tower stormed the city council desk. city hall security guards have since started asking people to sign their names when they come into the building to attend city council meetings. couple of people asked whether these tough new security measures violated a state law that governs public meetings. it's been exciting. after mounting a 16 point second all righter heed.

deadly weekend shooting involving rival motorcycle gangs began with a parking dispute. the fight may have been sparked over a parking spot or from someone running over another person's foot. the fight continued inside the restaurant and spilled back outside. when it was over nine people were dead and 18 were wounded. there will be increased security over the memorial day weekend because several events that draw motorcycle riders are scheduled. two men in florida facing several charges. they are accused of plotting to attack -- they also seized bullet proof vests, marijuana, cocaine, and pills. the deputies received a tip that two men were planning to attack a police station. those men now face gun and drug charges. >> it's a severe threat.

there is a mask. there is a suit for concealment. there is gun powder for possible explosive devices. >> and they found some devices that could be some kind of pressure switch. all of that is being investigated with federal investigators as well. after a decade of severe budget cut backs, the san francisco fire department is getting millions of dollars in extra funding. the news came after a new fire station opened. that money will allow for the training of 82 new firefighters, 33 extra emt's, and paramedics and plus new fire engines and ambulances. the money will also be used to fix old fire stations and upgrade technology. the city of napa is

crashing down on leash law violators. that means dogs have to be on leashes no more than six feet long and someone has to be holding the other end of the leash. stills say first time offenders will receive warnings but after that dog owners will receive citations. bad news ladies it looks like we can't live without men. men are needed for a process called sexual. to fight off disease and extinction. now scientists say the competition among men to be chosen by women improves the gene pool. researchers say if there is no need to compete, populations become weaker and are at risk of dying out. you are keeping us alive. >> of course, pam.

we're not worthless. sal and i we are here for a purpose. >> who would open all of those tough to open jars at home? if men weren't around. that's why i'm here. i do have a purpose. good morning. i don't think she is up yet so i can joke for another 15 or so minutes and we are good. let's take a look at the commute now. westbound bay bridge it's backed up for about a 15-30 minute delay. it depends. yesterday i drove this myself and it took me a half hour to 40 minutes to cross the bridge at 9:00. and traffic was about like this. so that is about what you are looking at here. let's move along and take a look at the commute on highway 4. we had an earlier accident. it took them awhile to get out of it and traffic is backed up on to the bypass. you know what that means it will be extra slow this morning and all of that traffic will make it over to bay point. we are look at westbound 580.

and fog to go around. the next one looks to be pretty good. that will be here on thursday. low clouds until place. some of that is very slow to burn back. westerly breeze or southerly breeze or some kind of a component of an on shore breeze in place. sfo west, southwest. hayward westerly. livermore west. southwest. it's there. it's their 51-55 on water temps. this is a key support level. i think their pal tern will change. just massive lows coming out of california and that is causing all sorts of problems. southern california dealing with a lot of cloud cover and even cooler temps. for us we have the low clouds. it will be breezy to windy at times. low 70s for some. upper 50s and low 60s.

long angeles has taken a big step toward raising its minimum wage. right now the minimum wage in los angeles is $9 an hour but if it gets final approval it would gradually increase in 2020. it would make los angeles the largest city with a minimum wage that high. san francisco of course and

seattle already have passed similar measures. the san jose city council voted to give medical marijuana dispensaries five additional months to comply with new regulations. the original deadline was july 17th but pot clubs now has until december 18th to meet the city's requirements. they include installing surveillance cameras and background checks for staff. and the dispensaries have to be located a certain distance from schools, parks and religious centers. and they voted to create a new position on a city drug czar. time is 6:24. a south bay couple is being honored and praised because they took care of dozens of young foster children from the time they were newborns to when they were toddlers. norma and chuck ward have cared for more than 30 foster kids in their san jose home. yesterday the county of santa clara awarded them the foster parent of the year award. the best part about being a foster parent was getting to adopt their very first foster

child named angel who they cared for. she is now in the third grade. >> it feels good to be part of this family and to know that somebody loves me. >> that says it all. the wards admit yeah it's not easy. that are challenges to being a foster parent including issues with the biological parents and dealing with medical challenges for some of the newborns. the recognition is part of foster parent appreciation month in santa clara county. the county says the number of children in the foster system it's been going up in the last couple of years but adoptions are also up as well. hayward native dwayne the rock johnson has cemented his legacy in hollywood. yesterday he had his hands, footprints implanted into the sidewalk. johnson thanked friends and

good morning. welcome back to mornings on 2. these are live pictures in san francisco. we are still following a police stand off in san francisco. this has been going on for nine hours. this live picture just down the street from the stand off and the police have asked us not to show the exact scene so we won't do it. it's not known if the man at the center of the standoff is armed. but some of the neighbors have been evacuated. ktvu tara moriarty is out

there. she is following this. she will have more with a live report coming up at 7:00. good morning. welcome back. thank you for joining us for mornings on 2. wednesday, may 20th i'm dave clark. >> good morning, i'm pam cook. thank you for joining us this morning. it's almost 6:30. it's not going to get any warmer over the weekend. >> maybe a little bit but not a lot. i think we are in a pattern that only has subtle changes. occasionally inland areas warm up. coast and bay are stuck in the 50s and 60s. if you're far enough away then for sure. it looks a little cooler today. mostly clear and calm. san francisco now not 74. still running slightly below. but inching up. by the way, i do believe this

is probably the coolest may we have seen since may 1995. everything continues to hold together. if you are thinking it's been awhile since it's been this cool, that is true. thunderstorms popping up over lake county again probably. we'll see that mendocino county and lake county. a series of lows. they keep rotating in and out. some go into southern california and some go closer to us. that will keep us going here. 50s on the temps. i don't see much change on the high temps. 50s and 60s and 70s. a lot of high clouds in southern california. a lot of low clouds here. breezy at times. afternoon showers to the north. popping up around 2:00, 6:00. it's a cool pattern i don't see much change here. 50s and 60s and low 70s. is there anything new that has developed? we to have more slow traffic usually at 6:30 is when we get to the peak of the commute. let's go to the east shore freeway from the carquinez bridge to the maze. traffic is going to be a little slower in richmond than it is here in berkeley. it all evens out to a 23 minute drive when you get to the bay

bridge toll plazast it's 20 minutes of waiting before you make it on to the bridge. southbound 880 we have a report of a crash heading south on the nimitz freeway will be busy coming out of hayward and heading down there. we also had a report of a car fire northbound 880 near mission but that is in the noncommute direction it looks like that fire is out. we're also looking at the south bay here. we've had a couple of incidents. they are gone. so far not bad in the santa clara valley commute. let's go back to the desk. we are continuing to follow that developing news out of san jose where an amber alert was issued just about 30 minutes ago police told us the little girl who was abducted had been found. her kidnappers had been arrested. brian flores is now in san jose with more of how this all unfolded. brian. >> reporter: that amber alert has been canceled. the six-year-old girl has been

found safe and the two people accused of kidnapping her were also caught in stockon. i want to go to pictures who police have in custody. 39-year-old maurice and 35-year- old dawn were taken into custody by stockton police. still unclear on the details on how they were caught. the girl was taken at her san jose home which authorities say was near cleveland avenue and olive avenue at 1:30 this morning. again the six-year-old girl identified as ava bar-illan. she was found on the 5500 block of tree swallow court. again in stockton. we are learning the alleged kidnappers also this is new information is that the male suspect was the exboyfriend of the girl's mother and the second suspect was the current girlfriend. this is all according to the santa clara county sheriffs department. the good news is that the six-

year-old girl taken from her home is found safe and hopefully she will be returned here shortly. guys, back to you. >> all right that is the good news. thank you, brian. time is 6:33. a teenage girl says she was attacked on a popular walking trail near los alamos high school. it happened sunday morning while she was on iron horse trail and a man in his 50s tried to sexually assault her. the girl fought off the attacker and ran into a nearby apartment complex where she called her parents and the police. now that man is described as latino in his 50s, about 5'6" tall with a thin mustache, medium build, and he was wearing a blue and purple rain jacket with a hood. a prostitute has pled guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the overdose death of a former google executive. 27-year-old alex tickleman was sentenced to six years in jail for the november 2013 heroin

related death of forest hayes on his yacht in the santa cruz armor. they released the -- after reviewing surveillance video from that yacht. >> prosecutors say the surveillance video shows tickleman appeared concerned and crying when hayes overdosed but she did not call 911 which is why she received jail time. because of her time already served, she could be out of jail in two years from now. the recall of takata air bags is the biggest recall in the u.s. history. 34million air bags are defect i. some of the materials used in the driver and passenger side air bag can degrade when exposed to humidity and that causes the bags to inflate too quickly in a crash and pieces of metal can be sprayed across

ktvu.com. crews on the san mateo coast they have started to bury two dead whales that have washed up on shore in the recent week. christien kafton is joining us live now in pacific can. you are busy out there with that story and also word of yet another dead whale that has washed ashore. christian. >> yeah that is exactly right. as you said we're pretty busy. we are just now arriving on scene here. making our way out to the scene where you can see crews just starting to work burying the two whales they found out here. but first new development out here. now crews in pacifica got busy yesterday digging a pair of graves for the whales. over the last two months a female hump back and a male

sperm whale washed ashore here. [ inaudible ] and the cities of san francisco and pacifica are going to split the $40,000 bill for burying those whales. the whales don't pose a health hazard but they are certainly causing an inconvenience for people that are living near maury point. it's not an easy thing to do to bury a whale. the hole has to be dug very deep. some 15 feet or so. we expect crews to be back here all day. meanwhile in half-moon bay the body of a but we did not spot her. that may be good news. officials there had hoped the high tide would wash that whale back offshore. this may be the same whale that was spotted floating offshore over the last two days. if that whale does not show up or does show up rather, marine biologists will likely be out

there to examine it. you can see we have made progress hurrying our way up here to the beach. we will keep on top of what they are doing out here today and see just how much work they get done burying the two whales. back to you. >> all right. we can see you are physically on the move. and we'll talk to you later. construction of a new aquatic park is moving forward in the east bay but it is while we're in the middle of the drought. work surround way at the site of dublin's future aquatic center. the plan calls for a year round indoor pool and 11 lane outdoor pool and a water park. now critics say the construction sends the wrong message at the time. >> i think the timing is wrong. i think the city could serve its people better by completing some of the more environmentally friendly community parks that people want. >> at a meeting of the dublin

city council last night, city officials say the project was put on hold in 2008 during the recession and now is the time to move forward. however, dublin san ramon services district says it can't guarantee it will have the water to fill the pools had been they open in 2017. there is a new sign this morning the oakland raiders are a big step closer to moving back to southern california. yesterday raiders owner mark davis here told us again. he wants to keep the team in oakland but he also wants a new stadium. davis announced he and the owner of the san diego chargers they have signed a deal to buy 170 acres in the city of carson where a new stadium could be built for the two teams to share. >> there is going to be two number one teams if in fact that is how it happened. that we're designing it together. we're making all the decisions together. it will be for both teams. >> in the meantime raiders fans gathered outside the hotel with the nfl owners meetings are

welcome back to mornings on 2 it's 6:44. new grocery store opening in the east bay but it has features that turn out to be maybe more of an entertainment center. janine de la vega is joining us now at the new whole foods

store in dublin to talk about not just the size that makes the store very different janine. >> reporter: yeah the employees of the new whole foods has been here bright and early. they have been getting ready for the store opening that happened at 10:00 a.m.. what is unique about this is the sheer size of it. 40,000 square feet. it's one of the largest whole foods in northern california but also has some unique features. customers will be able to sit and dine and listen to live entertainment. this whole foods has a wine tasting and tap room which has 12 beers on tap and you can have 50 different wines. you can taste them by the glass. and an outdoor patio where live musicians will be brought in. there is a huge pizza bar. bakery and heavy emphasis on locally grown foods and products. it's the first whole foods for people that live in dublin and pleasanton and livermore.

toll plaza, it's a 25 minute delay but there are no major problems. there is a lot of traffic down there. you probably already snow this but i just wanted to remind you. this is a look at 880 north and southbound. the traffic is looking good in both directions. and if you are driving on westbound 580 the traffic is a little slow on the altamont pass. now let's go to steve in the weather center. inland areas have a little more sun here but most locations are dealing with the low cloud deck. it's been around for a long time. should be another pattern similar to yesterday.

amtrak train conductor is suing amtrak. conductor emiliano remains in the hospital in critical condition with a broken neck, a broken back, and head trauma. his lawsuit accuses amtrak of negligence and carelessness. the derailment killed eight people and injured more than 200 others. four passengers have also sued amtrak. our time is 6:56. keeping pedestrians safe on the streets that is the goal of a special program in san francisco. the program is called -- now a new report released yesterday says san francisco was on its way to completing 24 projects
