temperatures are not that cold. they were about a week ago when we had water temperatures in the upper 40s, the overnight lows are coming up but speaking of coming up here are the rainfall totals if you will. they're drizzle or light rain, 12/100ths for tilden park, .05, the marina district, mount diablo, .02, and sfo point 01. plenty of low clouds, stepping all the way out to san francisco, thunderstorm activity again just incredible over lake county. i don't see any change over that. sierra, nevada getting thunderstorms, 5, sfo and they're much warmer than five it's ago. we can't get rid of this cool pattern for most. some locations inland. they're a good and low clouds

and breezy at times. the thunderstorm activity will pick up later. 60s and mainly low 70s, all right. wet roads as we see out there. >> it's hard to say sometimes. steve we had wet roads out there. let's get right to it, i want to show you the toll plaza, traffic is backed up for a 20 to 25 minute delay already. no doubt that the wet roads slow down a little bit. it would be the prudent thing to do. let's move along and take a look at the commute here on interstate 880 north and southbound. that traffic is moving along nicely. it begins to slow a little bit as you drive to hayward. this is a look at the san jose commute into the valley. it's not too bad. 6:02, san jose track down four men attacking innocent people overnight. the victims were walking down the street when they were randomly punched by a group of

men. neighbors came in and tried to help get these suspects. >> i want to describe the neighborhood we're in. we're in north san jose. and this is a middle class neighborhood, no the a high crime area, police were here earlier doing a yard to yard search for suspects. they're responsible for attacking a woman in her 30s at 9:45, she was walking to a bus stop when she was punched in a stomach by a group of young teenagers wearing dark clothing and 15 minutes later an elderly man who was walking was hit in the head and beat up by suspects fitting the same description. shortly after neighbors reported seeing a suspicious group of teens nearby. police had a hunch it was the assault suspects. >> we set autopsy perimeter and began to do a yard to yard search. we were able to take all four suspects into custody. >> how did you find them.

>> we utilized two k-9 officers. they safety assisted the police officers as we did the yard to yard search. >> they found three of the suspects harding in the backyard of one of the homes in the neighborhood. the other was caught running away. two of them ended up confessing to commit those assaults last night. the ages range from 15 to 19 years old. two had their legs banged because they were bitten by the police dogs since they were arresting arrest. they are booked into the jail for assault and robbery. they're going to see if they're linked to other types of assaults. they'll be seen to be linked to other crimes there. 6:04, san francisco police need your help to find a woman who attacked an elderly woman in chinatown. the victim of a 77-year-old grandmother is in a coma. the family worries she will

never wake up. she was getting off the bus and was attacked by another woman. a good samaritan helped her to the curb and she was able to make it home, but three days after the attack she lost consciousness. >> the key is that we really need to speak to that good samaritan that helped her off the bus to sit down and recover, he may have witnessed the entire incident or if there were other witnesses on the bus they could help narrow down the search. >> this is a very severe assault and damage and injury, and she doesn't deserve that, and not only that, she suffered. >> complicating matters is that police do not know which bus that she was getting off of muni is looking at surveillance video on four different bus lines in hopes of identifying the attacker. >> back to dade city where an early morning police chase that ended in a crash that sent four people to the hospital and streets blocked off.

>> a stolen dump truck smashed into a mini van on the busy intersection of flournoy street. how far did that police chase go? >> well, it spanned actually four miles, three cities, so very dramatic crash at the very end of it which is right behind where i'm standing, you can see that the tow truck is here, they're trying to uplift, up right that truck there. that is the dump track that has crashed, they're trying to prevent it from leaking fuel. it's been leaking fuel. that's the minivan that the dump truck hit. the minivan is now being looked at by the investigation's team. and we know that the diesel -- that the dump truck actually has been spilled diesel all over the roadway and there has been some sand that's been laid

down and they're trying to make sure it doesn't spill further. the driver of the dump truck hit the minivan as it was trying to make a turn on to flournoy and the impact was so great it slid 100 feet slamming into a parked car. it happened near the costco in co hmo a, the police say the dump truck seemed out of place in the neighborhood and they tried to stop them. >> it ran through stop lights and ended up in the city. >> it slammed into the minivan how did it happen and who was inside? >> it looks like there were three occupants in the vehicle from what it looks like, a 16, 20-year-old and a female adult. the injuries are unknown at this time and they were rushed to san francisco general hospital. >> once the driver crashed he still tried to evade officers, but was caught trying to jump over a fence.

the suspect was taken to the hospital with injuries. flouynoy will be shut down until 8:00 because of that diesel spill which spans an entire block. it's slippery out here. this is a major there are row fair, so a lot of people use this area, there was -- a major thoroughfare, they'll have to avoid this area, a lot of people use this area, try it avoid this area. a ktvu camera catches dirt bike riders dangerously riding down a san francisco street. here's what happened on tuesday on hay street. you see a biker doing wheelies, smiling back at a police officer. that biker and the others with him got away. police are getting lots of complaints from several neighborhoods about bikers

racing and doing those street stunts. the officers have their orders, don't chase the bikers. >> we don't want to get into a chase situation, busting a light or busting a stop sign. it's not a good situation. >> they're using other tactics to identify who these speeds are, checking videos the bikers are posting online. >> here's a followup to the story, a suspect who barricaded in a san francisco apartment finally surrendered to police last night. that stand off went for 20 hours. they were called to the home 8:15 tuesday night, no one was hurt during that stand off. today san jose police officer will be remembered with a special ceremony. michael johnson was shot to death in march.

he had been a san jose police officer for 14 years. a tree will be planted at the regional medical certainty of san jose and dedicated to his memory. it's a week long show of gratitude to first responders including police, firefighters and military personnel. >> time is 6:10, and they're cleaning up the massive oil spill along the coast, they're working around the clock trying to limit the environmental damage. it leaked on tuesday from a broken underground pipe, more than 20,000 gallons ending up in the ocean. governor brown ordered a state of emergency funding the cleanup. the all american pipeline is taking responsibility for the spill. in 2010 they claimed to improve the technology after being cited for ten different oil

problem getting down to the san francisco airport. southbound 101, let's show it to you, southbound 101, southbound 280, to 380 to get to the airport, 101 southbound, they're moving the accident to the lanes, the traffic will get slow going into the south city, it's an unpecked slow done. if you go to the report from the east bay, let's go to the san mateo bridge. the traffic looks good, once you get over to san mateo and head northbound on 101, it is not a bad commute at all. when you get to the bay bridge toll plaza, it's a 25 to 30- minute delay to get to san francisco before you get on the bridge. lots of gray over the bay as we like it say and there's plenty of drizzle to go around. it started late last night. lots of reports of drizzle there, if i'm not mistaken,

they said it was raining. there's decent amounts coming in. .06 in san francisco, we can beat that. 12/100ths, my goodness. the bows triangle. it's the reporting and the marina and it could be 1/10th of an inch, i don't know if it's .01 and nothing would surprise me .01, lots of drizzle, and they banged up to the sacramento valley and auburn. that's a good push there. thunderstorm activity, lake county we'll see a repeat of that, and over to amend seen owe county as well -- amendicino county as well. we'll see how the whole process, that's why our pressure has been cool.

the water temperatures are coming up. that's why the lows were warmer than they were a week ago. 57 livermore and sfo it was colder than that as well. west at oakland, west southwest concord. west at napa valley, 12, west of novato. the water temperatures are 51 to 56 now, they were 48 to 51 a week ago. this is a key support level here. it gets warmer if the pattern changes. we'll stay in a cool pattern if the weather changes. it will be very active over there on the weekend if you're heading up there. keep an eye on the sky and northern california. it looks better by the weekend. back to cooler early next week, waneta of warmup looks to be sunday, today and tomorrow, a lot of low clouds, if you get the sun, that's breeze behind it, it's on the cool side, thunderstorm activity, lake county, it dies down at night.

a small dog is whisked away by a flash flood. one officer got ahead of the dog, jumped in and pulled him to safety. they were able to revive him, he even had to do a little cpr, the dog was injured from the rocks and debris in the water, but thanks to their efforts, he's expected to make a full recovery. david letterman made his final appearance as host of the late show. the bay bridge toll plaza get nothing san francisco. traffic will be backed up. it's slow getting on to the span. you have to deal with slow traffic here for 20 to 25 minutes. you can see the span getting up to treasure i'll. it gets crowded up there and it gets crowded after treasure island as well. south city we had an earlier accident near grand avenue. it was in the lanes, they moved it. also slow traffic this morning as you drive on the san mateo bridge. i want to mention the traffic in the north bay is going to be clouded. there's a crash, it's on petaluma boulevard, and it's causing a big delay near petaluma. and daley city has a problem on san jose at flournoy, they have to get the dump trucks way. this is right near the border near the top of the hill daley

block away from flournoy where the crash happened. it slammed into a mini van with three people inside then a pole spilling diesel fuel all over the roadway. they tried to make a turn on to flournoy, it fell 100 feet crashing into a parked car. all three people in the minivan and an adult female driver, and a 16-year-old and 20-year-old passenger was rushed with minor injuries. the chase began shortly after midnight near the costco and colma, it started in the residential area of colma, the officer observed it and saw it was suspicious running late at night and discovered that the vehicle was stolen he ran the license plate. the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, allegedly the

vehicle attempted to ram the patrol vehicle and a pursuit ensued. >> the officer chased the suspect four miles through san francisco into daley city, he ran several stop lights along the way. once the driver crashed, he tried evade officers, but was caught jumping over the fence. they'll be shut down until probably 8:00 this morning because of the diesel spill which spans an entire block right now, 75 gallons, and luckily they did not get into the storm drains. we did speak again with police recently and they told us that the suspect faces potential charges with assault with a deadly weapon an officer, evading the officer and possession of a stolen vehicle. this is a major thorough fair and if you need to get through avoid the area, there's been a backup here this morning, try to avoid the area, live from

daley city, i'm tara moriarty. a woman was killed in oakland and two men were hurt in an apartment fire. it started at 6:45 on 89th avenue in an apartment. firefighters found a woman and a man near the 50s near the front door here. the woman died at the scene. that man and another man found in a bedroom they were treated for smoke inhalation. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. a march republican county teacher is on leave today. students claim that he showed pornographic images on a screen. a dozen students were working on a classroom project last week during a lunch break. the teacher was using his personal laptop computer and it was connected to a projection screen in the room. according to a police report, at some point pornographic images popped up on the screen and the teacher quickly turned

it off. they haven't found any evidence of a crime, but they may re- examine this matter, and it appears on what the school investigation finds. >> the science camp counselor accused of possessing child pornography and molesting a ten- year-old boy is accused of possessing and making child pornography. the new charges were revealed yesterday. he was arrested earlier this month when deputies served a constituent at the walled inwest science camp. he went to cupertino and was working there since 2013. he was known as papa bear. investigators say so far new of the images appear to be of the children who went to the camps but they caution the process is still ongoing and he has not entered a plea. identity thieves are increasingly looking at atms as

. welcome back, new this morning, four young men suspected of assaulting people in san jose. they were punching random people walking down the street. we're joined in san jose in the neighborhood where they were arrested. >> reporter: pam, police tell us there were neighbors that were alert that tipped them off, that was group of suspicious people here in this north san jose neighborhood and then police came and they found those suspects hiding in one of the backyards here. here is video of the four suspects that were taken into custody. two are adults and two are juveniles between the aches of 15 to 19 years old.

they used k-9s to track them down and the dogs bit two of the suspects resisting arrests. they're responsible for punching the women in the suspect at 9:45 in the border of piedmont road and sierra. an elderly man was hit in the head by a group of teens wearing dark clothing and they took his wallet and attacked him when he tried to leave. and officers arrived and did a yard to yard search and captured them. >> this group of four assaulted two people walking down the street, they took it farther by taking his wallet and reassaulting him again after picking up his belongings from the ground. i'm pleased to take them into custody and no further crime was committed after that. >> how they knew the suspect they found in the neighborhood were the same ones responsible last night. they told us two of them confessed to the attacks, they
