the state department releases the first batch of messages sent to hillary clinton's personal e-mail but with some significant changes made just today. good afternoon, i'm tori campbell. the release shows that the former secretary of state received sensitive information on her private e-mail accounts. brian flores is in the newsroom with more including reaction from hillary clinton herself. >> since the state department releasessed the -- released the emails, many have been trying

to see the e-mails. at times seeing the e-mails have been difficult with the website crashing. we want to go to new video of clinton crashing at a new hampshire brewery talking about promoting small businesses, but earlier today, the first batches of the e-mails regarding the attack in benghazi, libya, she says she fully supports the e-mails, about 30,000 pages to be reese lease -- released. one e-mail revealed that the then-secretary of state was advised that the 2012 terror attacks in benghazi was related to an al qaeda plot and not from an anti-muslim video as the administration had been saying. >> under limited circumstances to use personal e-mail for unclassified purposes. >> reporter: we understand some of the e-mail was redacted. it was sensitive information sent to her unsecured e-mail server. it does not appear she forwarded the e-mail to

anybody. at the time, it was deemed unclassified. but before the release, the fbi said some of that information was too sensitive. >> you had the american diplomats in libya saying we're in trouble, we cannot withstand a concerted attack. we're in danger here. what did hillary clinton know about these reports? >> back in march, clinton said her use of private e-mail account didn't violate state department rules. she also said she deleted many private e-mails. >> looking back, it would have been better for me to use two separate phones and two e-mail accounts. i thought using one device would be simpler and obviously it hasn't worked out that way. >> well, overall, the state department had opened the moilts would be released by january of next year. a federal judge ruled the e- mails should be release on a rolling basis.

back to you. >> thank you. the fbi says two southern california men face charges of conspiring to support a terrorist organization. the two men both 24 years old, from anaheim, were arrested late yesterday. authorities say one man was at los angeles international airport when he was taken into custody. both men are scheduled to appear in federal court at 2:00 this afternoon in santa ana. sources describe the men to the l.a. times as home grown violent extreme is who planned to travel overseas reportedly to join isis. isis is continuing to make advances in the middle east. the military group has now taken control of another iraqi city on the heels of seizing ramadi and an ancient syrian city. they've seized a town in the anbar province. this is significant because the comprehensive vince is a --

spotted the plane and search- and-rescue crews aren the scene -- are on the scene. we're working to get more information to bring you information online and at 5:00 on the newscast. a small earthquake has rattled napa valley, a 4.1. it hit at 75053 last night about six miles northeast of yowptville on the eastern side of the silverado trail. the earthquake works the chargest to hit the 6.0 earthquake last august. geologists say this wasn't on the same faultline as that one but could have been triggered by it. police say they felt 20 seconds of light to moderate shaking and this quake was a reminder of last year's 6.0. when it started shaking, it was like boom. my girlfriend is in the bathtub. she's like it's the big one again. but it didn't happen. but she did call it. she said it was a 4.3.

the news said a 4.2 and for reals it was a 4.1. we're show used to this in napa, it's not a big deal. >> no reports of injury injuries or damage. gusty winds and choppy waves are slowing down the cleanup efforts in santa barbara. waves as high as four feet are making it difficult for crews trying to corral the nine-mile long oil slick off refugio state beach. officials are closing a section from fishing. officials are working around the clock to clean up thousands of gallons of oil. >> we know the community who are concerned and some who are angered. we do truly regret and we are committed to cleaning up this incident as quickly as

possible. >> dozens of people expressed outrage over the spill in a protest outside of the santa barbara court hours. they used the -- courthouse. they used the event to call on governor brown to end the use of fracking to extract oil and gas in california. a driver was hurt after his car caught fire this morning on interstate 580 in livermore. you can see the flames completely engulfed the car and the huge plume of smoke could be seen for miles. firefighters treated the driver, then took him to john muir medical center in walnut creek. we don't know the exexpect of his injuries -- extent of his injuries. the car shut down interstate 580 at north flynn road during the morning commute. no word on why the car caught fire. this afternoon, the chp is expected to release the results of its investigation into a crash that killed ten people including five high school students. this happened back in april of 2014 on i-5 about 100 miles

north of sacramento. a fed-ex tractor-trailer swerved across the highway hitting a charter bus filled with students. three chaperons and the drivers of the bus and the fed-ex truck were killed. the report is due out at 2:30 this afternoon. it's memorial day weekend. if you are staying in the bay area, expect roads to possibly be a challenge. alex savidge explain how the combination of a bridge shut down and a b.a.r.t. closure could lead to serious delays. >> reporter: if you are shaking in town this weekend, you might find it tough to get to where you are going to go. many bay area freeways will be backed up as caltrans closes the san mateo bridge to do repaving work. >> we're advising people just like last time to plan ahead and allow plenty of extra time to get around this weekend. >> reporter: the shutdown starts at 10:00 tonight and lasts through 5:00 a.m. monday morning. when the bridge closed two weeks ago, traffic was a mess

especially on the bay bridge and the dumbarton bridge. but there are ways around the backups. >> the northern route, using the san rafael bridge and the northern gate and then the southern route going south through san jose and mountain view through highway 237. those are two other cards you can play this weekend. >> reporter: drivers say they learned a lesson during the last bridge closure. >> stay local. i'm not going anywhere. working this whole weekend. >> i know last week or a couple of weeks ago it was really bad. it was just a big inconvenience. i just know this weekend, it will be a lot crazier. >> reporter: along with the bridge work, there is a major b.a.r.t. closure to worry about. on saturday and sunday, no service between the fruitvale and coliseum stations. instead, a free bus bridge will be set up. b.a.r.t. will be slow going, the freeways will be extra busy. but there is a bit of good news for those leaving the memorial

the driver. why he walked away, we don't know. who confused? who knows. that's why we want to talk to him and find out how this -- his part of the events, of how it occurred. >> both directions of cedar were closed until after 9:00. several commuters had to take side streets to get around the seen. it remains unclear what called the crash. the prime suspect in a grisly killing inside a washington, d.c. mansion is expected to appear in court this afternoon. as ktvu fox 2's claudine wong explains, investigators now believe the killing of a married couple, their 10-year- old son and a housekeeper was not a random act of violence. >> reporter: the arrest of 34- year-old daron dylon wint came overnight in northeast washington, d.c. he was arrested by a fugitive task force after a manhunt that spanned several states. >> our entire task force worked it for the last 48 hours. a lot of people haven't had a lot of sleep, we tracked him up to new york city and we barely

missed him last night. >> reporter: police finally caught up with him in maryland and then 20 task force vehicles and a helicopter trailed him for several miles into d.c. before surrounding him. now that he's behind bars, the search for a motive in the may 14th killings continues. police believe wint killed 46- year-old savvas savopoulos, his 47-year-old wife amy, their 10- year-old son phillip and their a 7-year-old housekeeper -- 57- year-old housekeeper. police say it appears they were kept hostage for hours and may have been tortured before they were kill requested ed and the house was set on fire. one of savopoulos's employees dropped off $40,000 to the house. pizza was also delivered and paid for with money left on the porch. it was dna on the left over piece of pizza that police say led them to wint. >> it does not appear this was a random crime. there is a connection through the business of the suspect and the savopoulos family business.

>> reporter: wint was a certified welder who worked for savopoulos. savopoulos was the president of american iron works. the family issued a statement, thanking law enforcement saying "while it does abate our pain, we hope it begins to restore a sense of calm and security to our neighborhood and city." claudine wong, ktvu channel 2 news. a proposed ban on plastic exfoliating beads made a big step forward. the state assembly passed bill which would be one of the toughest bans on the microbeads. supporters say the beads get into water ways and can harm animals. this would prohibit the sale of soap, toothpaste and other cosmetics with microbeads inside. a similar proposed stalled in sacramento last year. the bill now goes before the senate. ♪ farmers who use water from the delta will have to wait to see if the state will agree to their proposal to give up a lot of the water they use. the farmers who are senior

water rights holders are offering to voluntary reduce up to 25% of their water this year in exchange for being spared deeper cuts. they had hoped to receive approval of the plan today. however, regulators with the state water resources control board have postponed making a decision. they tell us an announcement would likely be made next week. such a long stretch of cloudy, cool weather is about to change. >> yes. we're looking at improvements as we get into your holiday weekend. for today, the picture not changing a whole lot. giving you another look at the gloomy one outside of the doors, as we have partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies around the region. and we have thunderstorms a possibility over parts of the sierra. for us here at home, perhaps a few sprinkles. i want to see you this picture. this is up and around highway 88 near carson pass where there's snowshowers falling at about 8500 feet. this will be the case for the weekend as the sierra continues

to deal with the possibility of thunderstorms. if you are thinking about getting away, that to be aware of. here at home, plenty gray. i will show you how the moisture continues to feed over the sierra over our coastal range. for us a few light sprinkles will be possible once again for today. hit or miss, not anything beneficial just enough to, well, you know make it a nuisance. this system over southern california will continue to southeast into the weekend we're looking at a better clearing for your saturday, sunday and temperatures will be coming up. it looks like sunday will be the warmer day. if i take away the radar and show you the atmosphere circulation, you can see a broad trough over the west. this will shift off to the east. we'll have a weak ridge of high pressure build in for your weekend. here is a look at the scattered showers that i do expect over the sierra. temperatures will remain on the coomb side with the onshore breeze continuing for the afternoon as well. fairfield reporting a wind gust to 21 miles an hour.

day -- there are a number of fun events in the area during this memorial day weekend. >> reporter: countdown to a big holiday weekend is yell underway. i'm mike mibach. the 37th annual carnival san francisco is saturday and sunday on harrison street between 16th and 24th. there's plenty of food, dance always a great party. the grand parade is sunday. color run hits downtown san jose at 8:00. $50 a ticket. you get doused with color dyes as you complete the run. it's teamed up with the american diabetes foundation to promote health and happiness. all you music lovers out there, san francisco's own train will crack open shoreline am a theater friday night, also performing with them the city resident, matt and if you are looking for free live music, the 2015 east lake music festival is saturday at the lake merritt amphitheater in oakland. plenty of bands and deejays will perform there. bay area kids fest kicks off at

we were at the park this morning when it opened. thousands of people crowded on the main street usa as a day- long party began. disneyland will remain open for 24 hours straight. many people waited overnight, one lucky person at the diamond celebration will walk awith cinderella slipper. >> it's a hand-crafted slipper, diamond and topaz. just beautiful. some lucky winner will go home with it. >> several other prizes are being given away as part of the celebration including a dream suite, a private party in fantasyland and a rare 2 carat blue diamond. we're following the developing story near castro valley, where investigators are on the scene of a plane crash. it does not appear there are any survivors. we're working to learn more about how the plane crashed and the pilot. that's coming up tonight on
