some police tape around the house that we are talking about here. oakland police lieutenant says a dispute over a marijuana grove found in that home may be the motive for a shooting that happened here near here yesterday evening, up-close look, police won't tell us how many plants are inside only that they were in the house and also in the garage. now police and swat team members surrounded this home last night looking for a homicide suspect. yesterday just before 8:00 p.m. there was a shooting at 99th and dante, a block away from here, two people shot, one man died, the other was hospitalized, within minutes they got tips from neighbors and witnesses police came to this home they believe was connected to the shooting suspect. the police had -- police commended the neighbors and people who live in this area for alerting them and directing them to this house. >> we also had a lot of help from the residents, people here really cared, they are the ones

who notified us, they completely cooperated with us, it is because of them that we were able to do what we did. >> reporter: and after surrounding the home for 9 hours, swat team members at left 9:00 -- what they did find was a marijuana grow and that is some of the evidence that some investigators are continuing to assess, you can see them standing outside the home this morning, there were two victims in the shooting, one of the men died, the other was hospitalized and the man who is hospitalized is in stable condition, he apparently has spoken to investigators but investigators say he is not being cooperative, police don't have a suspect description to give us just yet. dave, tori back to you. >> thank you. 7:05 four people were arrested, 19th 0ers were cited after protests in oakland, about a hundred demonstrators marched along broadway to

protest the crackdown on nighttime protests, she is using existing laws to prevent nighttime protests that had previously turned violent and destructive, protesters called the policy a curfew, last night ease protest was mostly peaceful, there were no reports of any damage. a warning if you will be heading out to a popular east bay swimming spot this memorial day you will not be allowed to swim at quarry lakes regional recreational area due to dangerous blue algae bloom, live at quarry lakes park to explain why this algae is a problem for swimmers. >> reporter: good morning, tori, we are seeing people slowly trickling in for the memorial day holiday coming here to go fishing, hiking, walking the trails, as you can see from this sign right here if you plan to go swimming you will have to go elsewhere because blue green algae is present in horseshoe lake. and so it's closed to swimming.

visitors tell us they get algae every year but the lake looks completely different this year, it's full of toxic blue green algae likely caused by the drought, it's rare but very dangerous, it can cause skin ash, abdominal pain and allergic reactions, signs are posted everywhere warning visitors of the temporary closure due to the water quality yet that hadn't deterred visitors from enjoying the water, we meta visitor this morning to came to enjoy the lake. >> i don't get too much contact with the water because i am catching fish. but other than that, no. i would be more concerned like with people that's come down for recreation with their dogs and dogs drinking the water. >> yeah, that's right, it's not just harmful to people, the algae is harmful to dogs and can make them sick as well. so, owners are encouraged to

keep their dogs on leashes so they don't freely drink the water. as for fishing, visitors are advised to watch their catch very carefully after gutting the fish out. and again, the rest of the park is open to barbecue, to hike, to take in the scenery, you just can't swim this memorial day and they are hope to go open the waters back up to swimming this wednesday. we'll see. back to you. >> all right, well probably not ideal swimming weather today, not too much of a problem there. thank you. time is 7:08, firefighters in vallejo are trying to figure out what spark add fire yesterday morning, the flames broke out just before 9:00 a.m. on sacramento street, it's the third fire in that area in the past 8 months. investigators say this fire is considered suspicious in part bus the building did not have electricity. investigators say the homeless were likely using it as a place

read about the war, now knows someone who lived with. >> what was your worse day in viet nam, and i -- i never thought about that before. >> someone who can drive home the reality of it and for him that is important. >> april 4th, 1967, i was just carrying guys that looked like me from helicopters to open sided ambulances to the hospital to triage and that really messed me up, that was my worse day. >> amazing thing, bus i, you know, i belong here in school, and being anywhere else is daunting, it's really scary. >> the whole idea of being over there is to get home alive. >> to actually get someone from that time period in history and bring them into the class and, i mean, in talking to him, it's like i think you get to see the more human aspect of the work. >> they gave me six weeks. >> he battled another war cancer, december 1977. >> what was the bigger fight for you. >> cancer, it was more personal. the war wasn't personal, the war was there and the war was

gave their lives, joining us live now in washington d.c. where memorial day has a special significance this year, doug. >> reporter: good morning, well you know, it's a beautiful morning here in washington, it's a special time to be at these memorials, this is the word war 2 memorial, we had some veterans here today to pay tribute to some of their fallen come rads, the pentagon is growing increasingly concerned about those hard fought gains in iraq. as motorcycles from rolling thunder made their way across nation's capital reminding of missing in action,. >> we never leave a cam rad behind. that's what this march is all about. >> reporter: but carter was much less charitable when it came to a growing crisis in

iraq, ground that had been won by u.s. forces many who gave their lives and are remembered today. >> what apparently happened was that the iraqi forces just showed no will to fight. they were not out numbered. they vastly out numbered the opposing force. and yet they failed to fight, they withdrew from the sight. >> one iraqi official called that charge base less. this weekend though has largely been a time to reflect on those who served and gave everything. the west lawn of the capital played host to the national memorial day concert but there was at least a brief scare. capital police set off a small explosion in a vehicle they thought was carrying a pressure cooker with an odd or of gasoline, they later determined that it was not a threat. ultimately they don't think

going to find thick, dense fog and when it's dense like that visit down to a quarter mile, we'll be mostly cloud along the coastline today, we are going to see these clouds break away from around the bay, it could linger just a little bit into the east bay, a lot like yesterday. partly to mostly cloudy as we get into the 1:00 hour, i am seeing a little bit of haze here inside the bay, so perhaps a little bit of better clearing, coastline is going to remain stuck and stubborn for the entire day, upper 50s in the forecast, cloudy skies, breezy conditions expected, not going to be a beach day, sierra, fog this morning, dense fog in some areas and for the afternoon will a slight chance for afternoon showers as well as thunderstorms, between california and nevada we may see some of that on the west slope side, 53 in walnut creek, 54 in hayward, shift along the

place later this morning, i mean this is a humbling site on this memorial day, crews are setting up for that memorial plan later, each of the gravesites here, the tomb stones, the grave stones, they have an american flag, approximately 22000 of them placed here over the weekend just quite a sight to see here. today's memorial day ceremony, will mark 40 years since the end of the viet nam war, 70 years since world war ii he ended, starting at 10:30 include a march with the 191starmy band, guest speakers including rear admiral thomas, kernel janet, 21 gun salute with the u.s. army 75th pacific training division. and at 7:00 there will be a memorial day vigil at the crosses of lafayette off highway 24. this memorial started back in

suspects or information on the motive. another whale has washed ashore on a by area beach, it's the 8th to wash up on a northern california shore in the last five weeks, some scientists like everyone else wondering what is going on. a young 28-foot gray whale washed up on pore to you geese beach saturday between jenner and the bay. the fact that we are seeing so many whale mortalities in a small gee graphic area is setting off alarms, last week a gray whale 40 feet long was found decaying and rolling in the surf. a stranded bay was found as well, this is a tail end of the gray whale migration in which the strag letters are making their way back to arctic waters and their health can be diminished by hunger. >> they have not fed since they left arctic waters since last fall so they are working on an empty tank of gas when they are

under weight and malnourished that can open up malnutrition related conditions,. >> ocean nutrients drive in colder temperatures, that is something scientists are looking at, many have been pulled away from the whale data to go to the oil spill in santa barbara. a court hearing set in redwood city this week to discuss the mental health of gypsy hill murder suspect, he is suspected of killing three young women found dead in northern california and in reno in 1976, prosecutors say dna collected from the crime scenes matches his. he hadn't entered a plea but says he is innocent, two psychiatrists have been asked to examine him. meantime in cleveland, 71 people arrested over the weekend during protests after a police officer was acquitted in

a very controversial shooting. officer michael brelo was acquitted for the 2012 shooting death of an unarmed boy, timothy russell and williams were in a car that back fired as they sped past they thought the sounds were shotted fired, they chased after the car, 13 officers fired 137 shots at that car, brelo was charged because prosecutors said he kept shooting after the car stopped even though the two people no longer posed a threat. >> they did not deserve to die for fleeing and alluding, that is not a death sentence. >> now a judge ruled the prosecution did not prove brelo shots were the ones that killed the two people. the police department of justice is now reviewing the case. golden state warriors are on fire finding themselves in a position they have not bin in in four decades, after a huge
