sometime, tori. >> i am dave clark. rosemary is in for steve. gloomy outside our doors? >> you're right. if you are stepping out this morning the clouds are back with us. even a little bit of drizzle out there. our pattern continues with a slight warm-up for the afternoon. high pressure strengthening over the bay area. it's the inland areas that are going to begin to feel it. along the coastline not so much. and around the bay very similar to a tad warmer than what we had on wednesday. giving you a look at all that overcast that dave mentioned, the marine layer not quite as thick as yesterday. still thick enough to get over the hills. and so our local valleys waking up with the grey skies this morning. 55 degrees in livermore. 52 in walnut creek. low 50s in oakland. 49 san francisco. 49 in areas around novato. as the ridge of high pressure strengthens, to helps to compress the marine layer and squeeze out drizzle. oakland reporting a little bit

of drizzle this morning. anitoch at 50. as we get into the second half of the afternoon we will be partly cloudy to mostly clear away from the coast. we don't clear on the coastline for today and the color coating showing you upper 50s at the coast, 60s around the bay. a lot of 70s out there. mid-to-upper 70s and even a few areas now getting into the low ezeli. i will have a look at the numbers on the scream here for today and take you into the weekend. we go to the bay bridge toll plaza. there is a crash in the left lanes westbound at the toll plaza. i want to go to it now. we can show you the traffic is going to be affected. these lanes -- chp said on the radio just about to clear. in fact, they have cleared a lot of it. there is still a little bit of slow traffic here coming up on these closures. moving it over here to the parking lot over here to this parking lot. so you are going to see some delays at the bay bridge toll plaza this morning.

give yourself extra time. the san mateo bridge, perhaps you want to use that, the san mateo bridge traffic is not bad if you are driving out to the high raise. a little bit of slow traffic on highway 92. no major issues. dumbarton bridge, i can show you the traffic looks good. and getting to the south bay right now the traffic is not bad. a little bit of slow traffic on northbound 85 coming up into the saratoga area. 7:04. back to the desk. >> thank you, sal. and the wait is over. >> it is over. >> for dove nation. >> for the first time in 40 years the golden state warriors are going to the nba finals. >> got it! harrison barnes from downtown! >> we were watching. the warriors eliminated the houston rockets. they won 104-90 in game five. >> there was a square for the warriors in the fourth quarter. klay thompson was accidentally kneed in the head by the rockets trevor ariza. he left the game.

needed three stitches for a out can in his ear. the warriors say thompson was put through a concussion evaluation and did not show any symptoms at the time, so he came back in. after the game he said he did not feel well and did develop concussion-like symptoms. he will have to pass the nba's concussion protocol before being cleared to play in the finals. >> the break will be good for him. it will be probably good for awful our guys with the run we have been on. but especially for klay. >> this is a proud moment for everybody in the bay area to be four wins away from our goal. >> to be able to do it here in front of these great fans that deserve so much and to be able to advance to the finals, i mean, that's -- it was a perfect night for us. >> the warriors meet lebron james and the cleveland cavaliers in the finals which start a week from today. the teams, by the way, split two games during the regular season with each team winning on their

home floor. james did not meet when they met in oakland. >> this is an nba dream match-up. everybody wanted this. king james against the league milpitas steph curry. everybody wanted that. and warriors fans are flying high this morning. they are expecting another championship 40 years later here. we will take you live to oracle arena in oakland right now. and a big warriors fan. ktvu's alex savidge, you have been out there since 4:00 this morning. how does it feel to be on the court? >> reporter: i wanted to get out for the tail end of the postgame celebration here at oracle. i can tell you we picked up on the vibes here. the confetti still flying when we got here this morning. it was quite a celebration last night. a huge win for dove nation. a lot of people waited a long time for this. the warriors, they are four wins away. her going to the finals. what is it they are hoping to do? take four more games from the cleveland cavs.

they want to hoist a championship banner here inside oracle arena. the last time these warriors won the title 1978. they believe they can do do it again. when we arrived at the arena, the hard working crew at oracle was still cleaning up after last night's postgame party. confetti was everywhere. the warriors locker room, well, it looked like it had been -- there had been a celebration going on inside. maybe some beers. maybe some champagne consumed in the postgame party. after that final buzzer sounded at the end of game five last night the warriors and their fans, they began a celebration 40 years in the making. the w's knocked off the rockets with a 4-1 reason. they held off james harden. but they fended him off last night. the confetti rained down on steph curry, klay thompson and the warriors team and fans who

sell braid after the game. many fans said it was a night they didn't want to end. >> my first game ever. what an amazing game, right? >> lebron is tough. he is proven. but we are a better team. we are deeper. and they got to roar -- icle. >> reporter: this was the scene outside last night. fireworks went off outside the arena to celebrate. fans, though, they want another party. they want to bring an nba championship back home here to the bay area. all they have to to is grab four more wins, of course. those wins will have to be against the cleveland cavaliers and lebron james. he is a decent player, from what i've heard. king james and the cavs are going to come to oracle for game one of the nba finals. it will be a week from today, next thursday night at 6 p.m. game two is the following sunday also here at oracle.

then the series shifts back to cleveland for games three and four. the warriors have their work cut out for them. they played the cavs twice during the regular season. they won here at oracle. they lost when they played there in cleveland. so they split that series. and they are hoping to grab four more wins over lebron. it will not be easy. no doubt about it. by the way, dave, i would like to point out if folks are trying to get ththeir on the official western conference championship warriors gear that they were wearing during the accept celebration, the warriors team store is home at oracle and one inside the westfield shopping center in san francisco if you want to get decked out in your warriors gear to celebrate. >> before you go, i want to point out, if you make that shot -- >> i just airballed it. >> today is larry's birthday. something else to celebrate.

four on june 9th and 11th. >> and we will have continuing coverage of the warriors throughout the morning. we are also talking about the roads to the nba finals. not an easy one. talking about it on facebook and twitter. 7:11. after a three-hour-long stand-off with police, a hostage situation in antioch ended peacefully. the suspect holed up inside of an arco gas station. police say he had the owner of the gas station and an employee inside with him. this all started about an hour earlier near antioch's auto row with this. anthony hernandez and his daughter were at the front desk of their auto body shop. they heard a loud crash. the suspect had plowed his car into one of the their customer's cars. both the father and daughter ran outside to see if they could help. that's when anthony says the suspect pulled a gun on them before running away. >> what's scary is because i actually talked to him and he ended upholding two people

hostage. what if he would have freaked out at the point when it all happened? >> after that crash police say the suspect ran a block away where he stole a newly purchased car. the new owner had left his cell phone in the car. that allowed the police to track the suspect. shortly after that the suspect stole another car. crashed it near this arco station. that's when the hostage situation began. after a couple of hours that suspect there surrendered. the hostages were not hurt. police say the suspect has along criminal record that includes stolen cars, drugs, and other crimes. it is 7:12. a south bay city is pulling the plug on its fourth of july fireworks show because of the drought. janine de la vega. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. yeah, the neighbors, they are very surprised and disappointed. the fireworks are normally

launched at the sports field at cupertino high school. they say watching them here across the street is the highlight of their summer. here is video from a past fourth of july celebration. in order to prepare for the fireworks show, city officials say they put down a fire retardant cover over the field and spray over 100,000 gallons of water on it to prevent damage to the facility. in past years, the sports field reportedly were damaged even when precautions were taken. the fremont union high school district took that into consideration as well as the extreme drought conditions and reluctantly decided to deny use of its field. >> i have been here for a few years now and we come down and you can't even get through the streets. it's a great, you know, activity for families it to come and enjoy their children. so i think it's a real bummer. >> reporter: it's unclear if

the city is concerned about potential fire danger as well. but the celebration is still going on on fourth of july with a pancake breakfast, parade, live music and various block parties. but the city hasn't found an alternate location to launch this year's fireworks. at this point they are canceled. many neighbors, though, want the city to keep looking for venues. one man that we actually spoke to earlier from the neighborhood told us that he would actually write a check to pay for the water use. not sure if he was serious or not. but the city says they want to be good citizens, especially when it comes to the drought. tori. >> janine de la vega, thank you. time is 7:14. still ahead, a bay area police officer arrested with a loss prevention officers at a target store say they saw him do and what he reportedly had with him when they caught up with him. a girl seen yelling and struggling in an suv at the bay bridge toll plaza. what the chp says it's learned

good morning. welcome back to "mornings on 2". 7:17. new developments about a story we were telling but yesterday here on amongst on 2. the chp found a girl as a car was going through a bay bridge total booth saturday night. now, after photos of the suv appeared here on channel 2, the man who was driving voluntarily

went to the chp yesterday. investigators talked to him and later on they talked to the girl. >> we also sent officers out to the residence. interviewed the 12-year-old juvenile, who was in the -- confirmed she was in the back seat of the vehicle at the time, and confirmed she is safe. she was not harmed at the time of the incident. >> investigators said the girl was actually trying to break up a fight between the man who was driving and a female passenger. the woman is identified as 47-year-old la donna johnson has since been arrested by san francisco police on suspicion of domestic violence and child abuse in a separate case. it is 7:18. an army lab in utah accidentally sent live anthrax samples to facilities in nine states, including california. the pge is pentagon is working with the centers for disease control to retrieve the samples.

researchers were supposed to receive inactive anthrax for study. four people working in labs are being treated for possible exposure to the bacteria. the specific labs that received the anthrax have not been identified. time is 7:18. let's bring sal back. how does the commute look? >> a little bit better. right now we have -- well, we had an earlier accident at the bay bridge toll plaza. they moved it from the lanes. but i want to show you where it is. it's actually -- i will show you where the toll plaza looks like. it's still slow. we had a report of a stalled vehicle there as well. so we have a lot of slow traffic here coming up to the toll plaza. at least a 25 to 30-minute delay before you make it on to the bridge. it's very slow. someone on twitter asked me, why is this commute so terrible every day? well, the simple answer is everyone seems to use it and the traffic is going to be slow still. let's move along and take a look at the commute here on 880 north and southbound. this commute is moderately

heavy. it gets busier, which the way, as we get closer to 8:00. san jose is surprising me a little bit. we don't have a lot of slow traffic. perhaps a lot of people were up late last night celebrating that warriors win. it's a little slow. it's not as slow as it normally is. speaking of the warriors, rosemarie, tomorrow we have traffic jams where we play songs for people, and our theme is songs from 1975, the last time the warriors won the nba title. >> okay. >> 40 years ago. >> have to pull out rolodex. >> can't wait to hear them. maybe i will have one of my own. >> go to our facebook page. a look outside this morning where we have overcast skies. a little drizzle. a ridge of high pressure is strengthening over the area today and that is going to lead to a warm-up at least for some. not everybody getting into this warm-up. and, you know, for many of us it's just a modest one at best. giving you a look here at

that in oakland this morning. for the afternoon today 73 in novato, mid 70s for san rafael. to the east bay 64 for alameda, 66 san leandro. so mild here. but you get up over the east bay hills, get to the cull de cot tunnel, it's warmer. 82 livermore today. 82 antioch. to the south bay, temperatures range from the low 70s in areas like santa clara. 73 for saratoga. as we get into the afternoon woodside 72. san mateo 67. san francisco hits 61 yesterday. today to 62. you are not going to notice a whole lot of change. if you seeing the giants play today, taking on the braves, partly cloudy, 56 degrees. and the on shore breeze, although it's weakening some, it's not gone completely. we will continue with the sea breeze for the afternoon. the extended forecast there taking you into your bay area weekend, temperatures continuing to climb, but really again the inland communities are where

7:25. evan newsom could get a permanent spot at city hall. supporters wants a bust of him in the halls where he once served as mayor. they have met with the artist. they want to go with an open collar look and is hoping the artist as a quarter inch to his receding hairline. he will not be smiling in the bust because you don't want teeth in bronze because they turn green after a while. the money will be raised by newsom's reporter. fifa, the controversial president seth blatter is refusing to resign. european football associations announced they will vote for his opponent in tomorrow's

presidential election. before the scandal blatter was seen as a shoe-in to win a fifth term. this comes after a 47 count indictment against the members of fifa for allegedly taking millions of dollars in bribes by awarding world cup tournaments to certain countries. russian president vladimir putin says the u.s. is trying to steal a world cup by preventing brat prevent bratter from being re-elected. companies such as coca-cola, visa and adidas have long-term contracts with fifa. in a statement, visa says it was disappointed with the indictments and is expecting fifa so take swift action to resolve their issues and restore the reputation of soccer for fans everywhere. 7:27. former 49er ray mcdonald has been arrested again. second time in three days. up next, ktvu fox 2's tara

weather expected. a tad warmer than where we were yesterday. giving you a look at all the cloud cover, once again it is fairly widespread. the marine layer not as deep. about 2,000 feet deep which allowed it to move into our local valleys this morning. we have a little bit of drizzle reported in areas right around oakland. the on shore breeze is 17 miles per hour and gusting. oakland 18 at fairfield. the fairfield area, through travis, backed off just a little bit. but still there. 53 in fairfield right now. 53 walnut creek. 50s around the bay. 55 mountain view. san mateo 53. outside your door 54 palo alto. if you are thinking about or if you have somebody that's arriving to sfo, there are delays because of the low cloud cover. as we get into the afternoon temperatures coming up a few degrees over what we had yesterday, especially for the inland areas where some of the warmer spots will warm into the low 80s today. when i come back i will put the numbers on the screen for your neighborhood and talk more

about this warming trend into the weekend. let's check in with traffic with sal. >> good morning to you right now. traffic is going to be a little bit slow in some areas. highway 4 is one of them. let's take a look here at the highway 4 picture. pardon me. right now on highway 4 it's very slow. there is an accident eastbound highway 4 at 680. several cars are moving it out of the way. it's not in the commute direction, but i think it's causing a distraction for people driving west to concord. a lot of people brake off on 242. that is slow heading south towards the 242/680 interchange into walnut creek. at the bay bridge toll plaza we have a backup here. we had an earlier crash. it was already slow anyway. so i would give 30 minutes, maybe a little bit more before you actually make it onto the bridge. we keep looking at the south bay. northbound 101 near 85 a crash clearing. the traffic on the south bay is good. this is kelly cam. i went out of order. it's a ktvu commuter cam with kelly driving. this is a look at interstate 880 northbound and southbound.

the traffic is moving along very well. all right. now we can go to the south bay. i am surprised that the south bay is actually a little better than normal. so we won't ask a lot of question. a little bit of slow traffic on northbound 101 out of sunnyvale to mountain view. let's go back to the desk. >> thank you. a former san francisco 49er in legal trouble again. ray mcdonald was arrested for the second time in a week. ktvu fox 2's tara moriarty joining us live in santa clara. what is he charged with this time tara? >> reporter: well, this time it's for vie violating a restraining order. he says that mcdonald was at the particular residence with a defense investigator to gather pictures for evidence. we have some pictures to show you from monday. this was shortly after his arrest earlier on child endangerment and domestic violence charges. he allegedly kicked in a door and attacked a woman while

holding a baby at 4:00 in the morning. the chicago bears released him after less than three months on the team. now, yesterday he had another incident. joining me live is lieutenant kurt clark with the santa clara police department to tell us what happened yesterday. >> yes. yesterday about 3:00 our investigators were following up on the case involving ray mcdonald on monday where he was arrested for child endangerment and domestic violence. during that follow-up, we learned ray mcdonald was in violation of a restraining order at a residence in santa clara and subsequently he was arrested for that offense. >> reporter: where did you find him? was it immediately after? is it take a while to find him? >> it was shortly after the violation occurred. he was arrested in santa clara. >> reporter: what happens from here? >> from here he will be given his day in court to explain the violation of that order. >> reporter: all right. thank you so much for joining us this morning. we appreciate it. back in august you may recall mcdonald was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic

violence against his then fiancee but charges were not filed. it is unclear whether or not the woman involved in this case is the same woman. also in december san jose place said they were investigating mcdonald's for a sexual assault charge. a lot of incidents obviously. we will try to get a little bit more information and talk to mcdonald's attorney. tara moriarty. back to you. >> thank you. 7:36 this morning. a veteran st. clair police officer is in trouble with the law. santa clara police officer kit nguyen has been on the force for 25 years. investigators say that earlier this month a loss prevention officer at a target store in san jose saw nguyen steal a $250 smartwatch. he was off duty at the time when he was arrested. nguyen had the watch, wire cutters, and a magnetic key to disable the watch's anti-theft lock. shoppers outside the target were stunned. >> you think a police officer is held to a higher standard.

so, you know, probably he does need some help and he probably needs to be off the force while he is getting help. >> when one of our employees get arrest ford shoplift -- arrested for shoplifting, it's a step back. it saddened us here. >> the santa clara police department has placed nguyen on paid administrative leave. he is charged with petty theft and using burglary tools. two highway patrol officers on bicycles arrested two men suspected of stealing copper wire from the bike path leading to the bay bridge. these are photos from the chp. the incident happened yesterday when the officers say they spotted the men acting suspiciously. the officers say the men had a large trash bag full of copper wire and it appears they were breaking into electrical boxes. the chp is waiting for an estimate on how much wire was taken. that will determine whether the men are charged with misdemeanors or felonies. our time is 7:37. ktvu is getting new details about a wrong-way crash on the

bay bridge. it happened last november and injured several people. prosecutors have now filed charges against the driver. 33-year-old kerrie lynn morgan of vacaville. that's after a toxicology report confirmed she was high on a combination of drugs that included methamphetamines and marijuana. on november 8, morgan was seen driving westbound on the eastbound shoulder of the bridge with no lights on. she crashed head on into a nissan and then careened into another car. 36-year-old jared petty of richmond and his 35-year-old wife angie were in that nissan. according to the chp report ktvu obtained, jared looked up, saw a car facing with us no headlights. angie was critically hurt. >> when she came to icu she had fractured her skull, fractured both legs, fractured her right arm. she had torn all the ligaments in her neck. they had to restructure her

neck. >> chp says morgan was driving a stolen car during that bay bridge incident. she is now facing four felony counts and six misdemeanors. well, we have also learned another steel rod that stabilizes a tower on the new eastern span of the bay bridge, it failed a critical strength test. caltrans says it discovered the faulty rod while running tests on all 400 rods that are accessible. the overall results show 99% of the rods passed the test. caltrans says the findings should boost the public confidence in how the bridge is. still some independent engineers say this discovery is worrisome. it shows that exposure to water could be corroding the rods and making them brittle. caltrans says more laboratory testing is needed to determine if corrosion is to blame. it is 7:39. it's a sign that summer is almost here. the gates at the contra costa fair open at noon today in antioch. ktvu fox 2's brian flores is at

welcome back to "mornings on 2". it's 7:54. a plan to cut down tens of thousands of trees from the east bay hills, it will now move ahead despite a lot of strong opposition. last night the oakland city council voted to accept federal grant money to cut down those trees. the idea to remove non-native trees came after the 1991 oakland hills firestorm. eucalyptus trees, which are not native to the bay area, helped fuel the deadly flames that killed 25 people and destroyed 2800 homes. now, the fire has a re-- reduction plan would remove trees over the next ten years. >> we will be very sleek toughly thinning out -- selectively thinning out dead trees, diseased trees, saplings as

ktvu mobile app. time is 8:08. still ahead in other news, a after a three hour long stand-off with the police, a hostage situation in antioch ended peacefully. early yesterday afternoon the suspect holed up inside an arco gas station on contra loma boulevard. he had the owner of the gas station and an employee inside with him. now, this situation began about an hour earlier near antioch's auto road. you see that? anthony hernandez and his daughter esperanza were at the front desk of their auto body shop and heard a loud noise. a crash. the suspect had plowed his car into one of their customer's cars. both the father and daughter ran out to see if they could help. that's when anthony says the suspect pulled a gun on them before running away. >> what's scary is because i actually talked to him and he ended upholding two people hostage. so what if he would have freaked out right at the point when it all happened? >> after the crash police say the suspect ran a block away to mike's auto body where he stole

a newly purchased car. the new owner had left his cell phone in the car. that allowed police to track the suspect. shortly after that police say the suspect stole another car and crashed it near this arco station. that's when the hostage situation began. after a couple of hours the suspect here surrendered. the hostages were not hurt. police say the suspect has a long criminal record that includes stolen cars, drugs, and other crimes. it is 8:10. summer is still weeks away, but one south bay community has already canceled its fourth of july fireworks show and it's all because of the drought. ktvu fox 2's janine de la vega live in cupertino. sounds like people are disappointed. a lot of fireworks shows were canceled a few years ago because of the recession, janine. >> reporter: yeah, that was about money. this is about the drought. the neighbors who live here are really bummed out. they would block off the street every year. they would barbecue.

they would look at the fireworks. they are launched across the street at cupertino high school's field. but not any more. the fireworks celebration on the fourth of july attracts thousands of spectators. to prepare for the display the city covers the sports field at cupertino high school and then they use 100,000 gallons of water to spray on the field. that's done to prevent damage. but the fremont union high school district reportedly says the damage still occurs and it has denied the city from using the field because of extreme drought conditions. residents have mixed reactions. >> totally support it. i think the natural resources is the top priority to preserve. so i totally am against it. >> i don't like it. we have been watching the fireworks shows for my kids, i have been parenting for 28 kids. the shows are very important.

welcome back to "mornings on 2". 8:15. new development a story we were telling you about yesterday. the chp has found the girl, the one seen yelling and struggling with a woman inside of an suv as their car was going through a bay bridge toll booth saturday night. after photos of the suv were shown here on tv the man who was driving voluntarily called the police. investigators talked to him and to that girl. >> we also sent officers out to the residence. interviewed the 12-year-old juvenile, who was in the -- confirmed she was in the back seat of the vehicle at the time, and confirmed she is safe. she was not harmed at the time of the incident. >> investigators say the girl was actually trying to break up an argument between the man who was driving and a female passenger. the woman identified as

47-year-old la donna johnson has since been arrested by san francisco police on suspicion of domestic violence and also child abuse in a separate case. 8:16. we are following some developing news regarding the live samples of anthrax that the military mistakingly sent to facilities in nine states, including california. we have just learned a lab at the stanford school of medicine was one of those that received a shipment. according to the stamford report, the lab received a single vial last july that may have contained very small quantities of live anthrax spores. the material was received by the lab on july 22, 2014, and last opened by the lab a week later on july 29 a year ago. the vial has now been sent back to the centers for disease control for analysis. the university says it has not received any reports of incidents or reactions over the ten months since the material

to the oak street exit in downtown oakland. if you are going to the bay bridge, a look from our camera in emeryville, it's moderate. a 25 to 30-minute drive before the bridge. it's busy out there. no major accidents on the span. let's go to rosemary. our warming trend continues. it is a minor one. temperatures are only coming up a few degrees in some areas. our inland cities now beginning to feel the heat with 80s in the forecast for the afternoon. the marine layer not as deep. the on shore breeze not as strong. but you can see here from this graphic that it is fairly widespread. the low cloud cover. the marine layer about 2,000 feet deep. yesterday it was 2,500 feet deep. still thick enough and wide enough to bring -- or i should say deep enough to bring it up over the hills and bring our low cloud cover into the coastal valleys this morning. fairfield at 24-mile-per-hours for a breeze.

at the east shore freeway. you can see the traffic is going to be a little bit slow. it has improved a little bit at the bay bridge toll plaza. just caught a quick glimpse of it. it's going to be about 20 minutes before you make it onto the bridge. let's take a look at 880, which is not improved. slow out of san leandro. it continues all the way up almost all the way to oak street. not quite, but it starts to break three after 23rd. you are going to be in a lot of slow traffic there. and if you are in san jose northbound 101, 280 and 85, the accidents are gone. the slow traffic is still there. traffic on 880 south slow from union city to milpitas. 8:33. back to the desk. a former san francisco 49er who has had several recent run-ins with the law was arrested for the second time in a week. ktvu fox 2's tara moriarty says police in santa clara made the latest arrest. >> reporter: mcdonald was arrested for allegedly violating

a restraining order. his attorney says neither he nor his client actually knew about the restraining order. his attorney also says that his client was at this particular residence with a defense investigator to gather pictures for evidence. here is some video from monday. this is shortly after his arrest. he was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and child endangerment. he allegedly kicked in a door and attacked a woman while she was holding a bay baby at 4:00 in the morning. the chicago bears released him. he showed up yesterday at a home apparently to take the pictures. he was gone by the time officers arrived. they found him an hour and a half later at a nearby sandwich shop. >> i can't go into the specifics of the violation. but there were clear parameters within that retraining order that he violated that he was aware that he was in violation of. he was cooperative during the

arrest and came willingly. >> reporter: mcdonald was later booked into jail on $5,000 bail. back in august, you may recall he was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence against his then fiancee, but charges weren't filed. and it's unclear if that woman is the same person involved this this current incidents. in santa clara, tara moriarty, ktvu fox 2 news. >> thank you. well, this morning a veteran santa clara police officer is in trouble with law. santa clara police officer kit nguyen has been on the force for almost 25 years. investigators say earlier this month a loss prevention officer at a target store, this one in san jose, saw nguyen steal a $250 smartwatch. now, he was off duty at the time. when he was arrested police say he had a watch, wire cutters, and a magnetic key to disable the watch's anti-theft lock. shoppers at the store were stunned. >> i think a police officer is held to a higher standard.

so probably he needs help and to be off the force while he is getting his help. >> the santa clara police department is placing him on paid administrative leave. he is charged with petty theft and using burglary tools. two highway patrol officers on bicycles arrested two men suspected of stealing copper wire from the bike path that leads to the bay bridge. take a look at these photos. the incident happened yesterday when the officers spotted the maneanting suspiciously. the officers say the men had a large trash bag filled with copper wire. it appears they were breaking into electrical boxes. the chp is waiting to get an estimate on how much wire was stolen. that will determine whether the men are charged with misdemeanors or felonies. 8:37. ktvu is learning new details about a wrong-way crash on the bay bridge last november that injured several people. prosecutors have now filed charges against the driver.

33-year-old kerrie lynn morgan of vacaville. that's after a toxicology report confirms she was high on a combination of drugs that included methamphetamine and marijuana. on november 8, morgan was seen driving westbound on the eastbound shoulder of the bridge with no headlights on. she crashed head on into a nissan, then careened into another. a man and woman were in the nissan. according to the chp report ktvu obtained, jared looked up and saw a car facing us with no headlights. angie was critically injured. >> when she came to icu she had fractured her skull, fractured both legs, fractured her right arm. she had torn all the ligaments in they are neck. they actually had to restructure her neck. >> the chp says morgan was driving a stolen car during the bay bridge incident. she is facing four felonies and
