against sugary fights in san francisco. are set to propose a new regulation to -- to regulate those. after talking to those both for and against this. >> heather i talked to supervision or, he sponsored one of the three bills and he says he expects a robust discussion tomorrow. these all focus on sugary drinks. >> san francisco could be the first in the nation to change the way sodas are advertised. want to require warning labels about its health effects, similar to a warning on cigarette ads. >> i think it's a good idea because i don't think a lot of people understand how much sugar is in coke products. >> the legislation would require ads placed on

billboards, buses, and other city surfaces saying it contributes to obesity and tooth decay. the warning would cover 20% of the ad. others would ban soda ads on public property. >> i think it's a great idea. there should be a label and people should know. >> he says he believes he gained weight and developed anxiety from it when he was in his early 20s. >> because of coca cola, having 2 or 3 a day. >> says the soda industry plans to fight the 3 bills. industry groups reportedly spent 10 billion to defeat last november and they don't plan on backing down. >> i like coke occasionally but i'm not a huge doak drinker and -- coke drinker. >> anything else out there that

remember a 6-year-old girl who disappeared and was later found dead. sheriff's deputies confirmed that the body found in a field 90 miles north of sacramento. 25-year-old juan rivero has been arrested, the girl's mother's boyfriend. that vigil is set at 8:00 tonight. firefighters in san jose are trying to figure out what caused a house fire that left 3 people hurt. it happened just after midnight on glen fox court. firefighters say 10 people were inside the home at the time. they were able to get to the roof. 3 people hurt suffered minor injuries. in new york city at least 10 people were hurt this morning after a crane accident

in downtown manhattan. >> a dangerous situation in the skies above manhattan while a crane malfunctions. workers were trying to hoist the unit to the 30th floor but it missed its target shattering part of the building's facade. sent debris raining down on the street. >> we're talking about streel frame. we're talking about plastics and fiber glass, curtain wall which gets attached to the steel frame. >> new york city mayor says rescue crews sprung into action right away. >> as the usual, we are blessed in the city to have extraordinary response and fast response from our first responders. >> the immediate area was blocked off in the after math of the accident and crews have been slowly opening up nearby streets throughout the day as they are deemed safe. >> it is our hope and we will

rare session and it failed to reach an agreement on extending the patriot act because of phone data. that act is expected to expire at midnight. presidential hopeful rand paul had planned to block it. >> another would shut down the bulk phone program and give phone companies the job of maintaining records the government could search. the man who was in charge of monitoring dem domestic. >> if you are asking me in a perfect world what would i do, i would reauthorize the patriot act. can we live with this? i understand the politics matter, probably. >> it's unclear what the senate will do to pass a new version of the patriot act.

dispensaries, that's after closing more than a dozen this spring. under the ordinance one dispensary will be allowed in each of the city's 4 quadrants and the chief of police will review applications. previous who ignored the mandate will be disqualified and those away from schools will be given special consideration. hope to have dispensaries operating again by the end of the year. the national average is now $2.84. that's just 4-cents a gallon than it was 2 weeks ago. shows the average in san francisco is a little bit higher at $3 -- and in oakland and san jose it's $3.58. says those prices are just 5 to 11-cents higher than a month ago. a national guards man killed more than a month ago

san francisco may or ed lee is about to throw his hat into the ring for reelection. he plans to -- tomorrow before 9:00 a.m. he had intended to last -- he's served for 25 years before he became mayor. the election will take place on november 3rd. the family of a national guard's soldier is battling to get him buried in arlington national cemetery. he died in march when a helicopter crashed in florida. 10 other people died in the same accident. the army says because sergeant wasn't on active duty at the time of his death he does not qualify for burial at

temperatures are still mild. 70 in liver more and to the south bay, san jose at 68 at this time. the 24 hour change showing you where temperatures really fell off today. 15 degrees cooler in livermore by 13 in concord. santa rose a reporting 10- degree temperature change there. around the bay, 15 degrees cooler. and san jose slightly cooler as well. as we get into your evening hours the clouds are going to continue to move through the area and we will continue with the possibility of a few sprinkles. the on shore breeze picked up today and continued to cool off areas. reporting a gust of 33 miles per hour still at this time. at napa, 22 miles per hour. oakland you have an on shore breeze at about 20. let's take a look at the system responsible for the cool down today. you can see here it's beginning to move on shore. it's going to take a

northeasterly track and that is why we only see the possibility of some drizzle, maybe a few sprinkles and it looks to come tonight. so as we pick it up for you not a lot going on but by tomorrow morning we'll have a few specks of blue, and then through the morning hours it kinds of of sticks around with partly to mostly cloudy skies and temperatures below average. so in a nut shell, drizzle and the possibility of sprinkle by morning and then temperatures remaining the low average. giving a view here as we head out the door here. 52 expected for santa rose a and 56 for san jose. afternoon highs going to be low 60s for downtown san francisco with 60s expected for the east bay shoreline. we are looking at 70s, but even our warmer locations only going

a court hearing to hear arguments in the case of robin williams, his wife claims the three children wrongly took personal items from the home she shared with the actor after his death. the williams children disagree and say their father's trust say they were to inherit all of his clothing, jewelry and personal photos. williams committed suicide at the age of 63. the zoo is mourning the

death of a polar bear. he was born at the zoo 32 years ago and she was a favorite. they say she was always playful and showed great enthusiasm for things like catching fish and artificial snow. she lived 8 years longer than her expected lifetime. trainers attribute her longer lifetime to special diets. a new unique pet therapy program is helping both health care workers and animals. as bryan tells us the program brings in adoptable animals to relieve the stress of hospital staff. >> for years hospitals across the country have relied on furry friends for pet therapy for patients but only one hospital is offering the same therapy for staff. the university of pennsylvania brings in animals to relieve their nurses, doctors and other

health care workers. >> just look at the people. they come in here and go, awe, it just takes a load off. >> an emergency room nurse started the program called pet a pooch 2 years ago. since then the hospital created the center for nursing renewal where staff go to relax. every month the adoptable animals are brought there. >> on any given night we have 300 or sometimes 400 pets under our roof. so the need is big. nationally somewhere between 6 to 7 million pets enter shelters every year. only half of them come out alive. >> according to a survey, 88% of the staff say the animals boost work morale. so far about 2 dozen dogs and cats have been adopted by the staff. >> i didn't want any more dogs.

to the ferry, and as a young kid, that was a major outing event for us with our station wagon and we catch the ferry over to san francisco and have lunch, a picnic lunch. >> and apparently a good place to listen to old airplanes flying overhead as well. the trail now has completed 341 miles out of the planned 500- mile long trail. the bottle rock music festival wraps up tonight. it is estimated that 100,000 people came to the festival for the big event. about 20,000 more than last year. organizers say they are expecting their biggest crowds tonight because of the headlining performers which include new dog and no doubt. a bit of history landed in the east bay today. there's the classic.

and he said i haven't been able to keep a job for 6 months. 5 months later the war was over. >> thank you, noel. it certainly was great. well the coast guard says that salvage crews were able to remove all the fuel of a fishing boat that ran aground. that boat ran on to the rocks friday. the captain was the only person on board and was not injured. the coast guard is monitoring that work. the mel pita city council will consider an ethics hotline for the reporting of fraud, waste and abuse and would be available for employees and city contractors. it would be managed by an outside contractor. some promising news today about those treated for childhood cancer. researchers say that the death

rate 15 years after pediatric cancer diagnosis has been cut in half since the 1970s and is down now to 6%. many can be treated with chemotherapy. however historically the long term effects of those treatments had led to second cancers as the children grew up. now researchers say progress has been made to address those long term issues. meantime, new research suggests that radiation for cancer treatment may be -- the study in the journal of cancer looked at 1400 prostate cancer patients and found that higher relapse rates and in overweight king. bb king was laid to rest this weekend in his hometown in mississippi. king paid many visits to the bay area. he even recorded a live album

>> one of king's most memorable prison was when he sang at sing sing on thanksgiving day. san francisco leaders are considering a plan to use cameras to catch speeders. they already have cameras that catch those that run red lights. some city leaders want to install radar beams that capture speeding motorists. speeding cameras are popular in other locations. thinking of a trip to disney land. the new proposal being floated to raise ticket prices again during certain dates. and it was a combination of sun and clouds today. our meteorologist will be here with a look at your forecast.

walt disney parks may consider charging more for higher demand days. it would impact high peak days during the summer, christmas holiday and spring break. sent an online survey asking for their opinions on new pricing. it will be split into 3 tiers, gold, silver and bronze. silver tickets valid almost every day except peak days and those would cost $105 and bronze would be for off peak weekends and those would go for $99. a north bay charity is trying to pass go and send some children to summer camp. supports of the -- built what they hope is the largest monopoly board in the world.

moment. let's take a look at some of these numbers, 76 in livermore. this area really saw a cool down today. mid to upper 80s is where we landed yesterday afternoon. antioch landed about 88 yesterday, today only 75. around the bay. temperatures were very similar to what we had yesterday, 75 in redwood city. here's a look at a little bit of moisture. you can see over portions of the north bay. don't think this is hitting the ground just yet. we may have a few isolated sprinkles. here's a look at the system that's just now approaching the coastline, it's going to continue to move north and east so we are just on the tail ends of it. so for today it brought down our temperatures. and by tomorrow morning could bring us a few sprinkles. here we go as we get into the overnight hours.

you can see there a few specks of blue. tomorrow you may be getting the little ones off the school. temperatures will remain on the cool side as we head into june and the clouds will be with us as well. for tomorrow temperatures will range in the upper 50s to mid- 70s for our inland cities. behind the system the cool air will continue as well. tomorrow morning, 52 in oak lands. mid-50s in redwood city and 54 for livermore. 67 in nevada. 60s in richmond. notice these temperatures a lot like what we had today. low to mid-60s for the east bay shoreline. into the santa clara shoreline, 70. san francisco will be a cool 60, partly to mostly cloudy at the coast and the extended forecast here easy to see.
