john fowler, ktvu fox 2 news. a worker was crushed by a steal i beam this morning. the accident happened before 11:00 a.m. at xkt engineering. the beam fell and hit the worker in the leg. he was taken to a trauma center. cal-osha has been notified. a report by federal regulators show the pipeline that ruptured in the santa barbara area last month was corroded. the section of pipe worn away to 1/16 of an inch. it was close to where repairs were made after a 1220 inspection. the -- 2012 inspection. long week of waiting but the nba finals are almost here. the warriors and the cavaliers held their last work outs today before game one tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. ktvu's joe fonzi is live at oracle arena where there has

i don't know the ins and out. they need help these children. >> the average cost for day care in california $3,000 to $12,000 every year depending on the age of the child. the cost many family say they can't afford. california's economy will continue growing according to a new study out of ucla. the state unemployment rate will drop more than a percentage point. the unemployment is likely to hover around 6.2% for this year. it is currently 6.3% and it will hit 5% by 2017. ucla say the drop in unemployment is partly thanks to an increase in construction, automobile and business investments. los angeles may be the latest california city to give a raise to those making minimum wage. the city counsel voted to raise

the minimum wage to $15 by 2020. it starts with $10.15 by next july followed by annual increases. a second vote required. oakland's minimum wage increased to $12.25 in march. san francisco will have increases before the minimum wage there hits $15 an hour in 2018. someone stole a backpack out of a fire engine. that is not big news. but what was inside the backpack sure has people angry. ktvu's rob roth reports, it was filled with donations that was going to be used to help people fighting cancer. >> put the bag here. >> reporter: what was stolen out of this pink fire engine has many people shaking their heads. >> i think it is low. >> normally during the day the backpack stays right here.

>> reporter: the fire chief also doubles as head of a organization that helps cancer patients and their families meet expenses. >> one of our shirts. >> reporter: last saturday after a day of selling t-shirts at a fundraiser he put the cash box in a backpack in the cab and continued cleaning up. minutes later he noticed it was gone. >> disbelief that anybody would do that. >> reporter: gone with it, his fire department radio, cell phone and hundreds of dollars in donations for cancer patients. >> it hurts. every dime we lose can't go to somebody to help them. >> reporter: with the money it raises they helped 60 families in the area. this helmet, signed by all the children fighting cancer that they helped. that includes this 8-year-old
