it. but it is starting to fill in rapidly. and if you're away from this, douglas said this weather is more likely. some of the thunderstorm activity is right there beginning to fire up already and also in north california. you can see the thunderstorms yesterday and the mother load and north east california and some of that moisture when it starts to fall apart, it starts to fall back toward us. and the low is driving in southern california and it will reject in the four corners. but it will be long enough to give the sierra and active day. but the key for the coastal water temperatures on monday, 52, 55, 58 and 59. they've all cooled off, upper 40s and low 50s. so that helps in the fog formation and 36 in truck yi.

so a little chill in the mountain. and the temperatures in the 60s and the 70s. and the fog will play into the coastal forecast. so mostly sunny and 80s inland and 50s and 60s by the coast. and this is finally a category 2 and it will weaken tropical storm strength. but it is going to have winds about 60 miles an hour. mostly sunny and a little warmer. more likely over the high country and not here. 60s, 70s and 80s and the temperatures. these are near average. the coast and bare still hovering near average and slightly below. and that is the first summer pattern that we've seen in a while, 50s, 60s, coast on the peninsula. and we could get a rapid warmup sunday and monday. we'll see if it develops. thank you for the updates.

back toward the part of the north bay, east bay. but the low clouds are on shallow. it's filled in up and down the coast. yesterday was not the case. it went down the coast. today it's going up. thunderstorms already starting early up in the sierra. yesterday, they were going crazy. and they will do that again today. there could be big boomers. keep an eye on the scit. morning is the best time to go. 50s are on the temps. we'll see 60s next hour. overall, mostly sunny and warmer unless you are right by the coast and then 50s, 60s. fog on the coast. could be a few showers north and east but i think they are confined to the high country. 50s to 80s. a widespread. sal, you had two issues, richmond bridge, san mateo, you want to start with one of those first. i do want to start with one of those and i want to mention traffic will be slower than it was. thank you very much. let's take a look at what we have. you can see the traffic will be busy as you drive approaching the richmond bridge. there was an earlier non-injury

crash, westbound past the toll plaza of the richmond bridge. if you are going to marin, you will be happy to know they removed it but the traffic is already very slow. i can tell it's gone because for a while, it was completely stopped but now the traffic is moving better. it will take a while. if you are in a good mood and want to kick back for a while, maybe hang out with us, that would be a good alternate. things are getting belter. let's take a look at the san mateo bridge. that crash is also cleared from the san mateo bridge toll plaza. it was a little bit slow earlier. they removed it. the bridge crews got out there rather quickly and got it out of the way. the third element is a surprise. i don't know what it's going to be but i will tell you, the traffic is going to be -- thank you -- it will be busy on the eastshore freeway, but check this out. normally, look at all of this green on the map. that's a great site on hercules to richmond, 80 commute.

that's awesome. 680 slow from concord to walnut creek. but on 24, it looks good from la fayette to oakland. 7:32. back to the desk. >> thank you. a tough story to talk about. a family in concord mourning the death of their baby girl today. police say she drowned in a pool. ktvu's janine de la vega joining us live now. you are in concord. you've been out there all morning and you just talked to the baby's father. >> reporter: yeah, dave. it was tough. there were tears in his eyes and one of the things that he asked is that everybody pray for his wife and for his family. he didn't want to get into details of what happened. just told me it was a tragic accident. this all happened just around 8:00 last night on ridge park lane near cowell road and monument. contra costa county paramedics

and firefighters came. the girl was taken to the hospital but we learned that she's died. police have not revealed the circumstances surrounding the drowning but here's what one neighbor told us. >> that the baby had fallen in the pool and drived. that was all i heard -- and drowned. that was all i heard. devastating. >> reporter: police are handling the investigation into what happened trying to find out if the pool had a fence around it or not. they plan to release more information later today. an officer who was patrolling the area told me it's awful. it's hitting them hard. he said with summer coming. he hope this serves as a reminder to keep a close eye on your kids and the father did tell me that he does have other children. they are altogether in a dark place grieving right now the loss of their baby girl. dave? >> all right. janine de la vega, thank you. 7:34. meantime, police in santa

clara, they are searching for a hit-and-run driver who injured an 89-year-old man in the parking lot of a kaiser hospital. here is the surveillance video they released from saturday. it shows a dark colored suv right before it hit the man. just outside of the view of your camera. you can see then the driver backs up, police say he went over to the victim, then walked inside the hospital and talked to two hospital volunteers. but then he got back into his car and drove away. the victim lives in santa clara. he's expected to recover. well, a south bay mother is speaking out after a camp counselor was arrested, accused of sexually abusing her son. now, this allegedly happened in january at the waulden west science camp. the man was arrested for possessing child pornography last month. now, the mother who does not want to be identified said her son was alone with the counselor while he was sick at camp. but the suspect says he's innocent and would never touch

entertainment. it happened tuesday about 2:00 in the afternoon at a shopping mall off hegenberger road in oakland. that gear was in the entertainment crew's van which was in the parking lot. $40,000 worth of equipment including camera gear and five laptop computers. well, the warriors, they are known for giving back to the community. that's why the warriors are taking some time out from the nba finals and giving support to the boys and girls club of oakland. some. warriors, including harrison barnes, draymond green, even head coach steve kerr, they will be at the club on international boulevard this afternoon. they are gonna unavailable a new play zone as part of an nba community outreach program. well, if the warriors win the championship, we're hoping they will, they will become the next prayer pro team to visit the white house. yesterday, president obama welcomed the defending world series champions, the san

let's go outside and take a look at what we have. we'll start off with the bay bridge toll plaza, we do have backup that's improving. whenever you see 880, i've been doing this for a long time. whenever you see 880 getting quickly better, that means the rest of the toll plaza will soon follow. right now, it's about a ten- minute delay getting into san francisco. if you are driving in the city right now, it would be a good time to go. looking at the commute here on interstate 880, we don't see that typical slow traffic building just yet passing the coliseum and heading up to downtown oakland. i do want to mention that 680 is not exactly a dream come true. southbound 680 is a little bit slow as you drive just after 2:42 to the walnut creek interchange and into alamo. by the time you reach danville, it's looking good. there's slow traffic building in livermore westbound coming west of the altamont pass.

down. well, good morning. welcome back to "mornings on 2." it's friday, it's june 5th. i'm dave clark. >> good morning. i'm tori campbell. let's check weather and traffic. steve, normally this time of year we're talking about bowing to a west wind. we've had a lot of west wind. breezy. but if you are inland, it's starting to bump up a little bit. dave, tonery. it's been a long time coming. it looks like the next four days or so could be in the warm category. by sunday/monday, i think this fog gets chewed up. we'll see high pressure build in and get a breeze. there is a lot of low clouds on the coast. some of the bay. inland looks like it's burning off. george mccray -- i did this. i didn't save it. i save it. george mccray wanted to know, is high pressure building in? yes, it is. the high is nosing into the north. not yet but as it does, we're still going to see some thunderstorm activity up in the sierra also up in northern california, now shifting more

extent of this breach could be worse than we know. they targeted opm, the human resources department of the federal government. the agency conducts more than 90% of federal background checks for security clearances. and reports indicate that names, addresses and social security information were all compromised. this latest hack took place in april. that's according to government officials. this could affect every federal agency. >> you note what this their weaknesses are and all sorts of details about them, their career, their life. it's a huge concern and, you know, i don't know where you go to reverse it. i think once it is done, it's done. >> reporter: some u.s. officials believe they are from the chinese military. some say they are working on stealing and compiling this type of sensitive information but it remains unclear why. the chinese embassy in washington calls such accusations voting here, not

he was standing there with tears in his eyes. all he told me was it was a tragic accident. he said that he and his wife have other children and he's asking that everyone pray for them. this all happened just after 8:00 last night. contra costa county firefighters arrived at their home on ridge park lane off cowell road last night and found that police officers were already performing cpr on the baby girl. paramedics took over and was rushed to a local hospital but did not survive. she was 13 months old. >> it broke my heart. it really did. you can't imagine what that family must be going through,ant accident like that -- an accident like this. very sad. >> reporter: that neighbor was told that the little girl fell in the pool. we're still waiting to hear from police to confirm that and to get more information on what happened. we did speak with an officer earlier this morning who whats patrolling the area. he said he's a dad and this drowning hits him and other

call friday light. let's go to steve in the weather center. it looks like it will be two forecasts. one by the water, coast, and one inland. one will warm up. temperatures a struggle except for a few days. really since the beginning of may, it's been held down. a few high clouds coming off the sierra. thunderstorms are already beginning to pop up. nothing yet but the cloud cover is beginning to form there. temperatures unrunning 10 degrees warmer out towards sacramento valley than they were 24 hours ago. that will aid in the lift. and the clouds and low fog on the shal doe side -- shallow side. yesterday things were popping up. i expect that to happen again today. thunderstorms. when they collapse, fall apart, some of that cloud cover works its way toward us. occasionally they may drift into mendocino county and lake county. 60s on the temps for some. inland already.
