clean cut bandit. gilbert was arrested this morning. he is accused of robbing two dozens banks. gilbert will likely face trial in san francisco. the family an officer that was shot have filed a lawsuit. the suit alleges a canine police dog went off jacori calhoun then derrek toms fired eight shots. calhoun was killed. the wrongful death suit alleges

that calhoun was not armed. perkins said it would forgive almost $1 million in court fee s if sháe did not appeal. she asked for $2.7 million. perkins rejected had the request. measures that didn't make it out of the their house of origin by today died at least for this legislative session. but among those bills that made today's deadline are child care subsidies, tax credits for low income californians and expansion of welfare benefits and a higher minimum wage. the legislature passed dozens of bills earlier in the week. a controversial late night ride service for state senators has ended. senator president de leon says

you are looking from above as police arrest a kidnapping suspect seen in a hoodie after a 3-year-old boy disappeared from a library in milpitas. tonight that suspect is behind bars and the little boy is back with his parents thanks to a quick thinking bus driver. ktvu's anne rubin on tonight's frightening chain of events. alfonso edington is in custody accused of abducting a 3-year-old. he was carrying the child in his arms and they physically had to pry him away.

a baseball bat that flew into the stands has unfortunately left a woman with life threatening injuries. laurie was at the mound and the bat broke and one of the pieces hit a woman in the head. she was sitting on the second row. paramedics took her off the field on a stretcher. the woman was there with a man and small child. the child was distraught over what happened. police even tried to shield his eyes to keep him from seeing how bad it was. we are getting a better

firefighters in los angeles county have gained the upper hand on a grass fire burning near the california poppy reserve. the fire burned about 300 acres but we just learned it's about 80% contained. the fire broke out just before 2:00 and strong winds quickly fanned the flames. the fire got very close to the poppy reserve in lancaster. a 4-mile stretch reopened tonight. oily blobs started washing ashore there early in the week. clean up crews were sent out and removed about 55-gallons of the tar. officials say it's possible that that tar came from last
