let's turn to rosemary. it's a beautiful start. yeah. for some it's finally going to feel like summer. we have temperatures climbing today. we will be from cool along the coast to warm inland and it's the start of a warming trend that will take us into the 90s for some by the end of it. areas of the east bay. partly to mostly cloudily. the north bay waking up with clouds. we get into areas of the east bay. concord mostly sunny this morning. we are going to see this peel back as we get in to the second part of the morning. early part of the afternoon. i think we will be partly to mostly cloudy. it'll be along the coastline. 58 in concord right now. 58 in oakland. 54 san francisco and low 50s for nevado and along the peninsula we have 59 mountain view. as we get into again the second part of the morning mostly sunny skies. a least away from the coast around the bay and inland

communities will be warming up. we will have the gray skies along here. upper 50s to low 60s for the coastline a lot of 60s and a few 70s and you go inland and it's a mild to warm day. mid to upper 70s in the forecast a few pockets will hit 80 or so for the afternoon. take a look at the central valley. its going to be 90s or so in and around areas of sacramento. we will warm up. i will put numbers on the screen when i come back and detail the warming trend. back to you. >> thank you. an investigation is underway in san francisco into a deadly accident involving a bicyclist and a police patrol car. it happened about 9:00 last night near sunny dale. right now it's unclear who hit who. investigators say the bicyclist was a young man in his 20s who

wearing a helmet. >> >> >> we apologize. this is not related to the story. we want to tell you more about this accident. there were no safety lights on the bike and it didn't have brakes. there was a bike event earlier in the night but it's not clear if the bicyclist was part of that a 3-year-old who was kidnapped is back his family because of the help of a vta driver. >> the bus driver is a hero. o >> investigators believe alfonso eddington took the boy from the library. he then got on a bus with the child heading toward the bart station. the bus driver said he realized the young boy i fit the description of an aalert that was sent out by his dispatch. >> i pulled over and hit the brake and i said i'm looking for a green backpack. once i learned it was a

kidnapping it really hit. i broke down. >> eddington is in custody. the 3-year-old appeared to be unhurt. the sheriff has released a sketch of a man they say groped two women walking on a trail. they hope someone may recognize the man. he is described as 20 to 30. about 5'7'' with olive skin and a medium build. investigators say both of the attacks happened on monday on the walking which is just north of half moon bay. they say the first incident happened at seven in the morning the second was reported just after six at night. the president is leading ayodele gaze to delaware this morning for the funeral of beau biden. the eldest son of the vice president. he died last week from brain cancer at the age of 46 a mass is scheduled to start? just about 25 minutes. this is a live picture from inside the church. its being held at saint

anthony's in wilmington delaware. the president will give the eulogy. air force one was scheduled to land in the area a short time ago. the president is with the first lady. others attending the service include hillary clinton and bill clinton and the chicago mayor. thousands of people including the biden family attended the wake. they held hands as they walked in to the church a color guard brought in the casket which is draped the american flag. some waited five hours in line to get into the church and to offer respects. stay tuned throughout the morningw. he will carry part of the memorial funeral mass including the president's eulogy. the san francisco city attorney has filed a lawsuit against a landlord accused of harassing and bullying tenants their rent controlled home. the defendant owns apartment

buildings in the city. tenants say they had access blocked to mailboxes and the disabled are targeted. >> she is torturing these tenants very bad and illegal behavior with -- improper evictions. with harassment. the lawsuit also claims she has interrupted gas, electric, water and cable service and installed video surveillance cameras aimed at resident's front doors. we tried to contact her but she didn't return calls. santa clara is hosting a gun buy back today. it'll run between eight and noon in san jose. people will be able to hand over their guns, no questions asked. gun owners will be offered $100 for hand guns. the governor is praising santa clara county residents for doing their part to meet the water conservation goal. he talked about it -- water

district officials say the county met the state's goal of cutting water use by 25% in april. the governor said he importants efforts to recycle toilet water into driving water. >> whatever we can do to facilitate, reclaiming and reusing water we are for. if we can help with more standards i will push that very hard. the governor is expected to visit southern california next week also to talk about the drought. new water restrictions set to take effect in vallejo next week. they said water customers are on target to meet their goal of a 16% reduction in water use. so far water use dropped by 12%. the additional water restrictions are set to take effect on thursday. the new restrictions ban the use of drinking water in fountains or other water features and limits watering lawns by property addresses, even can water on monday, wednesday and friday, road can

water on tuesday, thursday and saturday. violaters can face up to five hundred dollars in fines. the fair kicks off today at the county event center. it'll feature pig races, carnival rides and a variety of exhibits. there will be performances from tower of power. and the charlie daniels band. the fair runs through june 14 june 14th. it's ten dollars for adults and children five and under are free. oakland animal services are waiving fees by the end of the month. it's called summer of free love. the goal is to help find forever homes for all of the shelters, longer term residents including dogs, cats and rabbits. the shelter recommends all family members be present for at dome to ensure a good match. according to the shelter director the adoptions may be free but the love shelter pets provide is priceless. happening today we could see horse racing history. american pharoah is the favorite to win the belmont

stakes and capture that triple crown. he has won the first two legs of the derby. his jockey is victor espinozo who nearly won the triple crown last year. russell bays has won more than 12, 5hundred races in his career. the most by any rider and he knows a good horse when he sees one. he is so far he has looked like he was head and shoulders above the rest of his age group. baring any unfor seen circumstances i think he is set to win. now there have been only 11 horses to win. the last was the horse affirmed in 197-8689 golden gate field is expecting a huge crowd. gates will open at nine. the club is sold out with part

in critical condition. brett lawry broke his bat yesterday against boston. part of his bat flew in to the stands and hit the woman who was sitting in the second row. she was bleeding from her face and rushed off in a stretcher a boston police officer scooped up her son who was with her. the officer tried to shield the boy's eyes the scene. the woman was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. the player hopes for the best the 49ers are losing another player to retirement a young one and that will happen at least temporarily. anthony davis is leaving because of lingering injuries including a concussion. he was drafted in the first round of 2011 and while the team wishes him well davis expects to return in a year. the 49ers will still own

you can expect heavy traffic for the 21st concert of the shoreline theater. the event is hosted by the rid yellow station and is sold out. this year's line up includes modest mouth, cold war kids and more. that concert kicks off at 11. apple kicks off its conference on monday. it gives developers a chance to check out their newest software and hardware. analysts expect new versions of ios and osx to be revealed. they could also announce a new

streaming music service and reveal new features for the apple watch. the man behind three unique ballot initiatives got the go ahead to start collecting signatures. he was behind the california flag act. it would require california state flag to be displayed above the american flag. he stayed protocol is that the american flag should be on top. another initiative backed by the same man calls for the governor of california to be called president as in president jerry brown. he also wants to ban out of state election contributions. he said he thinks california is like it's own country and so he said we should start acting like it. one of the biggest movies of the 80's is celebrating it's 30 30th anniversary this weekend. >> if you can hear me run. run. the goondocks is a yearly celebration. 15,000 fans are expected to go to astoria oregon where the

perspective in terms of what riders deal with? when i rode on it and i grew up in san francisco. i have ridden it for a long time. it's not hard to find rider who aren't happy. they are upset about performance, about a lot of things. >> yeah. there is a lot that goes on on a person yes a daily routine that can be frustrating. muni being late or information, may not be great. often there are other thing that make your life stressl and it's taken out on muni. >> let's talk about your ride i saw you were at 17 which is good. only scott weiner looks like he had a couple more than you. tell me -- we look at some of your tweets. you have been doing that. i have seen tweets where you were late the first day or you just got on the wrong bus the

first day and -- you were on bart. we have a picture of an escalator out of service. anything that you have seen that surprised you? >> i have been riding for a long time. it's not like my first venture into muni. what this time with the challenge lets me doe is focus on the experience of riders is. so, i have been tweeting abhijit it. liting surprising to me -- you know i'm still surprised that some of the next muni signs are inaccurate and that's why i got on the wrong line. that was funny and i didn't time that -- i built the time into my schedule to take the longer route. in my district we live five miles city hall. often we will take bart. we will take muni and then

bart. i decided to take the light- rail and j church. i love the view from delores park but the sign put me on the wrong light-rail vehicle and i went on the k and had to take bart. i think that was my one glitch. i asked the -- do you think supervisors and the mayor, do you think you are out of touch and what do you think at the end of the day will be -- the benefit of this challenge? >> i think we are -- out of touch to what the daily grind is for muni riders, what it's like to ride muni every day. we are preparing straightening the roads. all those things ways we are

working and we know those are things we have to do to improve the system and that way we aren't out of touch. those are things we should be aware of and that's what it helps us with. >> thank you so much for joining us. city officials say safety improvements have been made at an intersection where a driver was killed in february when she was stuck on the train tracks. the changes are at ravens wood avenue. this week the city instaled temporary turn restrictions. drivers can no longer turn from ravenswood onto southbound alma or across the barrier installed. >> the intent is to prevent queing on the railroad tracks. and changes may mean detours of up to a mile for

it started monday and several supervisors have been tweeting about their experience. we talked to john to see how it's going. he told us he has been on muni every day and said it's given him a better idea of what riders face. in menlo park safety improvements have been made where a driver was killed when her suv got stuck on the train tracks. the changes are at ravens wood avenue where it crosses the caltrain tracks. drivers can no longer turn from ravens wood the intent it to prevent lining up on the railroad tracks and prevent collisions with the train. the changes naming detours of up to a mile for some drivers. >> little challenging because if you want to make a turn. i have seen cars by habit want to turn in there and they stop

dozens of people are out on lake merritt learning how to row, all part of the lake merritt rowing club. allie, i know you were out on the water. now you are back on land. looks like things are getting busy out there. >> reporter: yes. lake merritt rowing club is part of this event. it is getting busy out here. other rowing clubs around the country are participating in this event as well since it is national learn to row day. here they are hosting a free rowing clinic from 9:00 to 2:00. here we have people just starting their free rowing clinics. you have never done this before? >> i have done this before, no. i walk the lake and i see them all the time. it is great. >> reporter: what made you decide to come out? >> about 10 to 12 years ago my daughter came and took a summer

rowing clinic and my daughter adored it. it was cool. >> once you finish with the rowing machines the next step is getting a tour. >> reporter: are you excited for that? >> i am very excited. >> reporter: thank you. and also, tom, you are the president of the lake merritt rowing club. you are taking a lot of people out here for learning to row day. how many people do you think are here? >> i think a couple hundred people will come through. i am not sure. there are a regular stream of boats going out on the water. you can see there is a boat that just launched. >> reporter: so, these are novice, people are just starting to learn? >> that is right. there are two experienced rowers in each boat but the rest are going out for the first time. >> reporter: how do you convince people to come out and try this? there may be misconceptions about the sport of rowing. >> that is true. there can be misconceptions but we try to appeal to a diverse audience and the summer program

is a major part of that. it is probably the most diverse program where we have kids from age 12 to 18 that come out for a week long class. >> reporter: that is something that parents may be alonging for a camp this summer may -- may be looking for a camp this summer may want to come check out. and you have scholarship, too? >> yes. we do have scholarships, and it is a great experience. we encourage everybody to come out and try it. >> reporter: thank you, tom. the free rowing clinics here at lake merritt are from 9:00 to 2:00. you have to come sign up for it but no prior experience necessary. i was out on the water this morning, earlier this morning. i had never done this before. you get a lot of good guidance here and there are a lot of good people here to show you the ropes. >> what was the toughest part, allie? maybe the timing with all the people? >> reporter: the toughest part is the timing and also talking through the live shots while i

demonstrations. protestors say the demonstrations are similar to a curfew. city supervisors and mayor he had lee are taking part on -- ed lee are taking part in a challenge to ride muni for 22 day, challenged by the transit rider's union. we have more on how this is all going. mayor lee says he has been commuting a few times a day since the challenge starts and is getting a better idea of what people face everyday on the muni system. a woman's suv got stuck on tracks and the incident has now prompted changes on ravenswood avenue off of he will rial. drivers can no longer turn from ravenswood to southbound alma or cross the median barrier there. >> the attempt is to prevent

collisions on railroad tracks with vehicles. >> it could mean detours for up to a mile for drivers. >> it is challenging. if you want to make a turn, i have seen cars by habit want to turn. then they stop and block traffic. it defeats the purpose and things back up at the train tracks. >> the city says this will be a six month trial, after which they will study the data and determine if the changes should be kept in place. hundreds of people have teemed up for a community -- teamed up for a community problem that will bring 200,000 people in need the help they seek. more on that story, coming up.

. what a beautiful view there. good morning, san jose. mostly blue skies and plenty of sunshine around the bay and along the coast. we are still waiting on the sunshine along the coast. not going to see much of it today. we are into a warm up for the bay area weekend. this is a live look here over the berkeley area and the aquatic center. along the east bay shoreline we continue with gray skies. mostly cloudy to mostly sunny skies for the morning but along the coast we will remain mostly drey. upper 50s in -- gray. upper 50s in san francisco. oakland is 65 and low 60s in san jose. we are continuing to watch this system that is slowly moving off to the east over the last few days into the afternoons. it has helped provide the thunderstorms and showers over areas of the sierra as well as the central valley. you may notice a build up
