sleeping bags, coffee and laptops. that's what hundreds of die- hard apple fans needed this morning at the worldwide developers conference in san francisco. we'll tell you why they came out in droves this year. a major closure for people who ride b.a.r.t. we'll tell you why a big part of the service will shut down twice later this summer. i'm tori campbell. >> good morning. >> good morning. >> i'm dave clark. let's talk about weather and traffic. steve paulson has a lot to talk about this morning. >> it will be hot for some. >> really hot. >> hottest we've seen. by tomorrow, though, tropical clouds will come roaring in. we'll get a big change. if you are by the coast, even with sunshine, it won't be that warm. 60s, 70s. inland, it's warming up fast. 90s to 100 look like a slam dunk. still some fog around. it's starting to peel back from the coast. on parts of the coast, half moon bay and el granada, it's lifting. 50s and 60s, already 67 in livermore. 62 fairfield. 63 san jose. 51 half moon bay. 55 san francisco. they made it down to 53. there's not much of a breeze. west at 12. keep an eye on that if it goes below 10, that's a sure sign temperatures will be warm. san francisco going 73. this is a very challenging

forecast here. even though the fog has lifted, there's still a component. the system moving out. high pressure building in. this little low will tap into the remains of tropical storm blanca tomorrow and start funneling in. that's the remains of blanca, it moves to baja, cabo, moving north. most is heading off to the north and east. today, show, it's all -- though, it's all about sunny and warm conditions. especially for those well inland or the east bay. 80s, 90s 100. 60sance 70s by the -- 60s and 70s by the water. sal, are you gonna show the golden gate bridge? >> we've seen slow traffic associated with that. we've been keeping an eye on the golden gate bridge. this time we'll start off with the bay bridge. traffic is looking normal. we thought that maybe -- i still think it will happen in june -- we'll have lighter volumes and lighter commutes into the city.

right now, it looks very normal. about a 15, 20-minute delay before you make it on the span. we've been looking at the commutes. highway 4. westbound is slow. eastbound we had an accident at loveridge. that's clearing up. but westbound highway 4 will be slow and 680 not taking a holiday getting down to the walnut creek interchange. san jose, traffic is moderate. it's looking pretty good into the west valley. back to the desk. >> all right. thank you, sal. and it was another nail- biting overtime game in the nba finals, the warriors did have a fourth-quarter comeback with steph curry tying it up. they took a one-point lead in overtime. but mathew dellavedova made what turned out to be a pair of

game-winning free throws. >> this is the final. it's hard. it's supposed to be hard. we had a tough night. so you have to move on and you have to learn from it and get better. >> i'm not gonna let one game alter my confidence. i know as a team we're not gonna let one team alter our belief that we'll win the series. >> a great squad that we have. it's not cute at all. if you are looking for us to play sexy, cute basketball, that's not us. everything is tough. >> what is sexy, cute basketball? i don't know. this is the first time in nba history that the first two games of the finals went into overtime. now, hundreds of warriors' fans watching the game at two san francisco bars were hoping to see the same kind of overtime win the warriors pulled out in game one. developers conference in san francisco hundreds lined up early to get tickets for the keynote speech which usually focuses on apple you -- of ale's new -- apple's new ideas. tara moriarty is at moscone center and i can see the crowd is already fired up. >> reporter: they are. those in the blue t-shirts, they are apple employees. they did open the doors a little bit before 7:00 this morning. you can see -- see they are still streaming in. it's barely made a dent in the line. we have apple die-hards from china, south africa, england, even brazil. this line wraps around the corner, sphanning about four -- spanning about four city blocks. they are expected to unveil the subscription music. it wants to offer apple viewers

time-consuming downloads. we talked to the techie, first in line for when the doors opened. >> noon yesterday. >> reporter: are you crazy? >> i'm the craziest of the crazy ones. >> reporter: this is a pretty crazy bunch. >> so much fun, though. so many great developers out here. a lot of young people coming in from the scholarship program talking about the fan bu list -- fabulous projects they are working on. >> reporter: another guy said he got here at 4:00 yesterday afternoon. he slept on an air mattress overnight at the front of the line. >> you came all the way from maryland to attend this conference. >> six-hour flight. >> reporter: and then you spent the night out here on the cold cement for how many hours? >> paid for a hotel room and slept on the street. >> reporter: one of the things you won't see here today, though, the new apple tv set top box. apple had been working on a new

being scheduled is estimated to take five days. so b.a.r.t. officials looked at what weekends have the lowest ridership. they are planning to shut down service between west oakland and san francisco on the first weekend of august and on labor day weekend, which is the first weekend in september. b.a.r.t. officials say the tracks need to be replaced for safety reasons. the system is 43 years old and has to be updated. b.a.r.t. officials this will be an inconvenience for riders, they had no choice because the work is critical. the giants have anaway game but that should help. there is a billy joel concert. we're a crowd of 40,000 -- a crowd of 40,000 is expected. they are planning to have a bus bridge between oakland and san francisco during the disruptions and service. again, two days in the first weekend of august and those three days, that labor day weekend in september. tori? >> all right, janine de la vega, live for us this morning. thank you. president obama is speaking in germany. this is his news conference at

the close of the group of the summit. he's talking about jobs. let's listen in. >> wages for american workers continue to rise and since i took office, the united states has cut our deficit by two- thirds. so in the global economy, america is a major source of strength. at the same time, we recognize that the global economy while brew something still not performing at its full potential. we agreed on a number of necessary steps. here in europe, we support efforts to find a path to carry out key reforms and turn to growth within a strong, stable and growing eurozone. i updated congress so we can move ahead with the asia- pacific region. agreements with high standards to protect workers', public safety and the environment. we continue to make progress

towards a strong global climate agreement this year in paris. all of the g-7 countries have put forward our post 2020 targets for reducing carbon emissions and we'll continue to urge others to do so as well. we'll continue to meet our climate finance commitments to help he having countries transition to low carbon growth. as we've done in the u.s -- >> we've been listening live, of course. president obama speaking at the end of the g7 summit in germany. he talked about how they are gonna work on climate change and control. also helping greece recover economically among some of the topics. he talked about continued job growth and what need to be done here in the united states. the g7 made of u.s., germany, united kingdom, france, italy, canada and japan. russia has been left out for the second year because of -- -- because of its aggressive

actions in ukraine. this is the end of the g7 summit in germany and president obama holding his news conference. we'll have more details throughout the day. 7:11. well, new this morning, suspects in the deadly stockton bank robbery, they are expected to find out today if the d.a. will seek the death penalty. jaime ramos and pablo, they are charged in the robbery that turned into a running gun battle last july with police. two of the other suspects they were killed as well as 41-year- old misty holts-singh. police say she was a bank customer. she was taken hostage and the robbers used her as a human shield. >> all right. two convicted murderer escape from a maximum security prison in new york. >> it was elaborate. it was sophisticated. it -- it encompassed drilling through steel walls and steel pipes. >> coming up at 7:30, the

search underway and the taunting note the escapees left behind. but first, caught on video, the new look at a deadly police shooting. it happened in oakland and what witnesses are saying about this dramatic encounter. good morning. we're looking at marin-bound traffic from the east bay on 580. looks like there is a crowd at the richmond bridge toll plaza. we'll also tell you about some of the fog in southern marin county. well, officially summer has not kicked in. but meteorologically it has, so it's time for a summer song. ♪

different perspective on a deadly police shooting that happened in oakland. now, cell phone video captured a standoff between oakland police officers and a man with a loaded gun. he's inside a silver bmw. this is near lakeshore avenue saturday morning. now, police said the car had been used in a burglary friday in san francisco. now, a woman took the video you aring looing at from inside a salon. and she says from her point of view, the police did everything they could to get the man to give up. >> they tried. they tried to get the man out. they gave him the benefit of the doubt. >> he did fight to not get out. tug-of-war. they took a couple police officers to try to get him out of a vehicle. >> now, police say after breaking the car's passenger window, there was a confrontation, one officer used a taser on the man. the other officer then opened fire and shot him. oakland's police chief sean whent said they are investigating the officers

involved and checking footage from body cameras. a las vegas strip club is raising eyebrows with the message for students just in time for high school graduation. check out the ads recently posted outside the little darling strip club. one sign reads, now auditioning the class of 2015. another says, pay your way through college. the manager says with the cost of tuition continuing to rise, his club offers a way for women to foot the bill. >> we all know the economy isn't all that great. it's kind of hard to find jobses. this is an open door for young women 18 and up to come and make some good money. >> the manager says entertainers can make up to $1,000 per night. this same company also owns a trip club on columbus avenue in san francisco. >> okay, tori. all right. >> yep. [laughter] >> nothing more we can say about that. we can say that sal's right over there. >> i was just on the phone with my daughter. [laughter]

>> you are not going anywhere. >> i wasn't paying attention to that last story. just got the gist of it. probably not for me. let's take a look at the list. we have a look at highway 4. you can see traffic is busy as you come up with the will le pass grade. the earlier accident eastbound highway 4 has been cleared. it was a noncommute direction near loveridge. traffic will be busy at the bay bridge toll plaza as you drive through. if you are trying to get to the airport, i wouldn't use 101 out of san francisco. it's very slow because of an accident in south city near grand avenue. i would use 280. it's going to be a little bit slow in san bruno and then you can use 380 over to 101. it's still better to use 280 at this point than 101 which is shing down on the candlestick causeway heading down to south city because of the crash. it's blocking a couple of lanes. don't go to the airport and be

surprised by this. use 280 instead. let's go to steve. >> thank you, sal. mostly clear although some of that fog continues to kind of dart in and out near the coast. it was in the city for a while. looks like most of that is peeled back. it will be a warm to hot day. there's still a couple of low cloud decks around. it's -- doesn't have much of a chance past bayside and inland locations, it will be very, very warm. this is from chad. he says some sunrise in san francisco this morning. this is warm with some low fog. this is at the mini ward playground in en-- in ingleside. there is a heat advisory out. 90s to 100s. some of the higher elevations are already 73 to 78. you get up around mt. diablo, i it's 78. there's still fog. it's up and down the coast. it hugs the coast. 67 already in livermore.

52 half moon bay. city made it down to 53 starting to warm up here but again, not much of a breeze. anything less than 10 at travis, usually a sure sign it will be toasty. again, very challenging forecast. officially for san francisco. going 73 today. there may be some areas cooler than that. maybe a little warmer without a rip roaring offshore breeze. i would lean more on the 60s and 70s. this little guy right there. that's going to -- that guy. tomorrow, not today. 52, 53, water temp, bodega bay san francisco buoy, monterey and half moon bay. come up a little bit on the temp. not too much t will be a cooker through the sacramento and san joaquin valley. they are already in the 70s. pretty toasty conditions. fog is there on the coast. it's getting squashed. the heat advisory is out for the inland areas. may was the coldest since 1999. haven't had hot, hot. yesterday yesterday, temperatures got in the 90s and 80s. near 100 for those inland.

this is blanca falling apart. but it still made it. 45 miles an hour. moving northwest at 15 miles an hour. it's the moisture from this moving in tomorrow. it will tap into that. watch what happens quick. fog will be there. watch tomorrow afternoon. zoom comes flying in here. we'll cloud it up with the tropical moisture. fog near the coast. it will be cool, nice, mild. it will be hot inland. it's sunny for most even by the coast. you will deal with some of that. 60s, 70s, 90s to 100. there is a lot of fog on the golden gate bridge. be careful. 70s, 80s, 90s to low 100s to the east bay, san jose. san jose downtown, 90. 60s on the coast. 80s to near 90. tomorrow, tropical clouds will hold that into wednesday as well. >> wow. we've been due for kind of a big warmup like this inland. it's something that we normally see this time of year. >> thank you. 7:21. a teenager watching a street

the family of a woman hit in the head by a bat at fenway park is saying thank you for the prayers and well wishes. 34-year-old on na carpenter is still in serious condition in a boston hospital -- tonya carpenter is still in serious condition in a boston hospital. she was struck in the head of a broken bat. she's expected to survive. the accident may have been avoided if mlb had acted on the player's request for more protective netting. according to seuss -- to sourcing, they asked for the net to extend down to the foul poles. the owners reportedly rejected it worried it would distract from the experience of fans in seats. andre pearson felt he was letting his daughter down

because his daughters felt he was not well enough to walk his daughter down the aisle before her wedding. days before the big event, his medical team decided he was well enough to make the trip to southern california to see his daughter get married. it was the surprise of a lifetime for the bride to be when he showed up at the rehearsal. >> i knew there was no way. i knew the circumstances and everything. and i just -- feels like a dream. >> didn't expect this to happen. didn't expect to be here. but it's a good feeling. >> pearson was able to escort his daughter down the aisle for her wedding. she calls it a dream fulfilled. doctors say if he continues to respond to treatment the way he has, he could be put on the list for a heart transplant. 7:26. it sound like something out of the movies. the intense search continues for two convicted murderers who escaped from a new york prison.

[ applause ] >> dave, scott, ken, who is it today? al? thank you. very well done. 7:29. for those of you if you are well inland you say oh, my gosh, i don't like anything over 75, go west because that's your best opportunity. otherwise, we have a heat advisory out. it will be a cooker inland. some of those -- i might be going higher than some of the forecast highs, especially east bay, some of that fog and low clouds not showing up. it's already 67 in livermore at 7:30 the in -- in the morning, you could tack on 33 degrees. some of the fog clears, comes back in. f that goes to calmer at travis, that will be a sure sign. the coast stays in the 60s or very low 70s.

little low will trap into tropical moisture from blanca as that moves up and falls apart. most of that is heading up toward the north and -- north and east of us. some of that will move into our forecast zone tomorrow. maybe late tonight. fog near the coast. it will be nice for some. it will be hot for others. 100s for a view. 60s and 70s -- for a few. 60s and 70s for others. did you see the fog on the golden gate, sal? >> i did. kind of like the summer pattern we're used to. it's not causing a lot of slow traffic. the traffic is doing well. i will tell you where the traffic is not so good is the bay bridge and also not so good on the peninsula. southbound 101, we had a crash at grand avenue. they are clearing it. but it caused a big backup because it was blocking a couple of lanes and traffic is backed up into san francisco out of south city. northbound 101 is also slow passing this area. on the peninsula, it is going to be slow. unfortunately, now out of daly city, heading down on 280, it's slow. i would still do this if i were

you, if i had to choose between two and i was trying to get to the airport in my car, i would still use 280 even though i knew it was going to be slow in daly city. it's better than 101 at this point. let's take a look act the bay bridge toll plaza -- at the bay bridge toll plaza, it's backed up to the maze. those metering lights are on. about a 15-minute delay. i want to mention a two-alarm house fire this morning in sowsh san jose, almaden area. 6390 empaseo. a fire is out. it -- empaseo. a -- el paseo. a fire is out. skyfox is over it. it does look like the fire is out. it looks like the residents did get out safely. we'll back with skyfox. still plenty of equipment on the scene. it's blocking major roads. if you live in this neighborhood, that's what all of the noise was about. that's what the smoke was seen. now, at 7:32. back to the desk. >> all right. thank you, sal. here's a look some of the top stories -- b.a.r.t.

is planning to stop all service between san francisco and the east bay during the first weekend in august and over the three-day labor day weekend for what it calls critical track maintenance. offer a bus bridge for oakland and san francisco. apple's annual developers conference is getting underway. most of the focus this year is expected to be on apple's new music streaming service but there could also be updates on the apple watch and apple's operating system. you can see all of the crowds there but insiders say not to expect any news about apple tv. and despite mounting a fourth-quarter comeback to force overtime, the warriors still lost game 2 at the nba finals to the cavaliers -- cavaliers. cavs won thanks to

dellavedova's free throws. here's dellavedova's connection and the tough road to the nba. >> the odds are long that a midmajor basketball program with a school enrollment of 4,000 would have players in the nba finals three years in a row. patty mills running with the spurs and now mathew dellavedova with cleveland, they are part of the school's australian pipeline that coach randy bennett has developed since he took over in 2001. >> it's neat for the -- the kids in the community. they have all kind of grown up seeing matt play for st. mary's. >> dellavedova, banks it home. >> guys like patty and mat go on the nba. nothing better than marketing for that. we look forward to keeping the connection going. six people from australia on our team next year.

>> we recognized he was a good player, but rick was ahead of us on it. he kind of beat us to the punch. >> reporter: joe fonzi, ktvu fox 2. >> and the series now leads to cleaveland for the next two games. tomorrow night and thursday. we have a crew going to cleveland. we'll bring you live coverage tomorrow morning. game 5 will be sunday back here in oakland. >> 7:35. was it an inside job? two convicted killers still on the loose this morning after escaping from a new york prison and now a female worker at the prison is being questioned about being an accomplice. this escape was like something out of a movie. 34-year-old david sweat and 48- year-old richard matt used power tools to break out of the clinton correctional facility. the inmates' beds were found empty and there was a note saying have a nice day. still not known how the men were able to get those tools that they used in the escape. but officials say it must have

taken them days to break through the steel walls, the pipes and the bricks. >> the precision of the operation was truly extraordinary and usual and almost impossible to duplicate. but we want to find out exactly what happened. >> both of escapees are considered very dangerous. matt was sentenced to serving 25 years to life. he beat a man to death in 1997 while sweat, he was serving a life sentence for murdering a sheriff's deputy. south african authorities are recommends that oscar pistorius be released from prison in august. he served just tent months -- ten months. he's serving a five-year sentence for come aable homicide -- culpable homicide for shooting his girlfriend. a decision by the parole board is still pending.

7:38. three-legged race, live entertainment, farm animals, reptiles and a giant ferris wheel. that's just some of what you will find at the san mateo county fair when the gates open in a few hours. alex savidge, though, got in a little early. joins us now live from the fairgrounds in san mateo. so you had tweeted out pictures of some pigs, i think. >> reporter: yeah, pigs earlier and now i'm making some new friends. that's kind of what happens when you come down to the fair. i want to introduce you to this guy. it's. this is darth gadder for all of the -- darth vader for all of the star wars fans. thankfully for me, i already learn he already ate breakfast. he will not be eating morning television reporter today. he's all fed. you want to know what he eats? three chicken drumsticks. the whole thing, bone included.

yeah, the whole deal. >> oh, boy. >> reporter: maybe i want to pass -- maybe i should pass this guy off to the professionals here is. this is called -- i do. i need that arm. exactly. this is brad's world reptiles. and i think darth vader is gentingantcy here -- getting antsy here. this is alley the alligator. she's a lot bigger. these are some of the big reptiles -- those tooth. they are gorgeous, though. all pearly white. she brushes. this is amanda. i'm gonna come on side and stick the mike in your face. so i don't have to stick it in your mouth. amanda here at the san mateo county fair. people can come down and they can pet these guys. >> yeah. these are a couple of animals we have out for handling. we take pictures with them and

they are basically education animals. they are here to teach the public about how interesting and unique they are and their role in conservation and environmental help. >> reporter: we're also looking at a beautiful bowa constrictor. that's bo. you can put them, you can hold them and that's what you want is for people to get up close with these beautiful creatures. >> we're an educational exhibit and also a rescue. we take in a lot of animals. and bring them out to help educate the public. >> thank you. amanda with the san mateo county fair. the fair kicks off today. it runs until the 15th. 14th. sorry. runs until the 14th. obviously, aside from the reptiles here, they have all of the rides, they have livestock barn which we saw earlier where the pigs are. they will be auctioned off. and of course delicious food. funnel cakes, cotton candy, a lot of healthy options as well.

let's move along to a live picture here of the bay bridge toll plaza. you can see traffic is going to be busy as you get into san francisco. it's not too bad. but it certainly is. i want to ask the guys in the control room to bring back the maps because i forgot to mention something. southbound 880 is slow. i don't want to ignore this. it's backed up from 238 into fremont. and the 280 is slow getting into the west valley. steve. thank you, sir. if you are anywhere by the coast, you might have some sun. but there's enough fog that will keep temperatures held in check. 60s, 70s, coast and bay. maybe a quarter mile inland, it will jump up fast. it will be warm to hot. some locations, daly city antonio, one of other observers, the fog, currently 53 degrees and no wind in daly city but some thick fog there.

these traffic areas where it will be slow. 101 northbound doesn't look good if you are trying to get across oakland. southbound one in the city itself is okay. but down the peninsula, it's slow getting to the airport because of earlier issues. 280 is slow out of daly city across the bay, 880 slowing down near 238. backup a little bit. you can see from 238 all the way down to about decoto is where the slowdown is. dumbarton and san mateo bridge, a lot of slow traffic and also a lot of slow traffic on 680 southbound and westbound 580. i want to mention the traffic will be busy in san jose on 280 and 101. this is a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. it is getting better. you can see that 880 -- 88 -- the ramp from 880 down to the toll plaza is improving. back to the desk. thank you. we get to talk about basketball again. it was another nail-biting name in the nba finals last night.

new york's governor now says two convicted killers had help breaking out of prison.

thank you for being here with us. >> good morning. great to be with you. >> i know the proposed plan focuses on making san jose marter and safer and i -- smarter and safer. i know that applies to technology with the police. what does that apply to specifically? >> certainly we know we need to restore depleted staffing departments. we have money for hiring and retention and recruiting. we will be able to increase the number of officers out there on the street. but we know it will take many years before we are able to fully restore the department. we're making target investments in technology. we'll focusing on prevention, we'll be hiring 800 teens who live in gang- -- gang-impacted neighborhoods and get them in perhaps. we'll be focused on gang- prevention programs and really

leverage civilians. we'll be doubling the size of our community size officer core and that will help us better respond to some of the lower level less urgent calls so our officers can be focused on their most urgent priorities. >> talk about making san jose a smarter place with the technology. any particular things you want to bring out or not? >> we live in the heart of silicon valley, we should be leading the way in deploying technology that can help our you as and city employees be more -- our officers and city employees be more effective. hot spots, property crime, so our officers can better deploy themselves. we just launched a security camera registry that enables business owners and homeowners to be able to sign up to voluntarily let the police know if there is a camera at their business and there is a robbery nearby and then the officers
