er activity, more rain in january -- or june than in january. january was dry in san francisco. the driest january ever recorded in san francisco. june we had some areas over quarter inch of rain. san francisco got .11. that puts us more than january. more cities with rainfall accumulations. not a ton of rain. nice to get it. nice to knock down the pollens, wet the lawns. rainfall right now, a few scattered showers lingering. they did linger through the early afternoon commute but now we are seeing drying and that is the beginning of a big change. showers out there by the fremont area. light stuff. not slowing you down too bad. the roads are wet. remain wet and then they dry up. it will get hot again. when i come back we will talk about a significant warm up. from this to that. we will see you back here.

>> okay. thank you. >> now to ktvu's noelle walker. the weather caused a lot of crashes today. >> reporter: yeah. it has. the rain stopped right now. that is good. it has been stopped for the last hour or so. i talked to a chp officer earlier this afternoon. by the time he rolled up to the accident we were at he said he had already been to 5 other accidents. what could help is the rush hour traffic, some places could help by slowing the traffic down. >> been like that the entire day. going from crash to crash. >> the most serious of the crashes was a solo roll over crash. the driver had to be pulled from the truck. that was here on highway 24. another roll over accident involving an suv had the driver walking away from the crash. many crashes along highway 24 were solo spin outs. a bmw lost control and hit a

light pole. the driver walked away with minor injuries. the light pole will need major surgery. >> it is rain. millions of california drivers drive safely, we ask that people slow down. >> reporter: we found a baby, he was experiencing his first rain storm. sound asleep as you should. we called the chp to see if they had any numbers about the accidents today. we kept hearing them over and over again. they said they didn't have numbers. the officers were too busy. they gives you an idea on how money were out there today. >> you have to be careful.

noelle walker, thank you. all of those icons are showing is accidents along bay area roads and the red lines there, that is where it is slow going on this wednesday night. download our ktvu weather app to get the latest on the conditions. it is available for download on android and apple devices. breaking news now. police arrested a man expected of setting -- suspected of setting new cars on fire. police say he targeted a dealership on red wood road monday night. he was arrested this morning and booked into jail. police released this surveillance video last night showing an arsonist lighting the cars on fire. he set fire to four cars. two were destroyed. at one point the suspect walks across the street within full view of the surveillance camera. new at 6:00 p.m. a new twist on tax fraud.

a man received a number of checks worth more than $100,000 from the irs. all for a return he never filed. he keeps reporting the fraud to the irs and sending the checks back only to get more in the mail. ktvu's ann rubin reports why the problem won't be resolved for months. >> reporter: he was more than surprised when this refund showed up in the mail. the check was for $74,000. odd since he hadn't filed yet. someone else had. >> i was shocked. contacted the irs immediately. returned the check. i thought that would be the end of it. >> reporter: it wasn't. another check, this one for 48 hon dollars arrived -- 4800 arrived later. >> okay. is this the last check? contacted the irs. let them know.

they assured me they receiveload my documentation. identity -- received all my identity. . >> reporter: the money kept coming. . >> received another $36,000 check. >> reporter: while his case seems unusual identity theft is not. they say while he can't comment on this case preventing fraudulent returns is a priority. >> we are doing the best we can to protect and use filters to make sure -- [ indiscernible ] >> reporter: between 2011 and 2014 the irs stopped 19 million suspicious returns. but this it did not catch his. >> the irs says we are not going to take action till you file your tax return. i can't file till the fall. >> reporter: they worry the thieve's trail will be cold by

then. his message to the irs -- >> please help. >> reporter: he returned all three checks. but he has no way of knowing how much money the thieves got away with. in san jose, ann rubin, ktvu fox 2 news. officials are looking looking for a man who stole a woman's identity to obtain a credit card. we have a surveillance picture here. he used the credit card that store. anyone with information is asked to call the district attorney's office. the plaintiff in the supreme court case for same-sex marriage visited san francisco today to talk about the struggle for equality. high joined leaders -- he joined leaders to talk about the case. he was legally married in maryland but their home state of ohio refused to allow his name on his husband's death certificate.

they are asking to decide if states have to recognize same- sex marriage performed in other states where they are legal. >> i fight for an end to discrimination. nothing more and nothing less. here in san francisco i fight for an america that lives up to its process of justice for all. >> they are also deciding if states are required to allow same-sex marriage under the equal protection clause. the ruling is expected at the end of this month or sooner. activists rallied in san francisco today demanding the release of a detainee. they want a woman freed from detention. they say she is a victim of domestic violence. the mother of four u.s. born children and the care taker of her father. the fact she was convict offend theft in 2007 should not be held against her. >> we are here to show that

people with convictions have family members. they are part of the community. and that having a conviction as a non-citizen does not make a person disposable. >> she has been separated from her family for two months. now to the nba finals. a tough, tough loss last night for the warriors. they are down 2-1 against the cavaliers. fans still believe. >> we have to. ktvu's mark ibanez is there now. i understand you found warriors fans? >> reporter: yeah. i did. i was going to tell frank this is just like home. i am trying to watch the game here and frank interrupts me. we were wandering around town and trying to find warriors fans, few and far between to tell you the truth. and they were wondering a lot of the same things the media has been asking.

at the press conference today, you know, the warriors, one of the most disturbing aspects of their game was the way they seemed to come unclude in the 3 3rd period when the -- unglued in the 3rd period when the cavs went up by 20. didn't look too good and as things went on they got themselves back into the game but i went out today and tried to find warriors fans and ask them for explanations but most importantly solutions to the 2- 1 deficit they are facing now. >> seemed like especially last night, steph curry isn't enjoying himself on the court. okay? got to have fun. you are in the finals. it is big time pressure. you are also supposed to enjoy it. >> reporter: why are you a warriors fan wearing a indians hat. >> hanging out here. we are going to indians game tonight.

police discovered the largest marijuana grow operation ever. calling it a factory. 13,000 plants were seized with a value of $15 million. it was in a large warehouse with sophisticated equipment. three men were found at the scene, they have been arrested and face charges for cultivation and sale of marijuana. in san francisco police say they uncovered a cash of weapons including explosives and thousands of rounds of ammunition. investigators searched a home in south san francisco last week. they found 38 guns. police chief says the investigation started back in april after robbers hit a gas station and then three other businesses across the city. police arrested a man on robbery charges last month. and then last week s.w.a.t. officers another man at a home in south san francisco.

>> the fact that he was manufacturing inside the home could have had devastating consequences to the neighborhood. >> the bomb squad was called out after they found dynamite and a pipe bomb. last night a two-year-old girl was bitten by rattlesnake. she was playing in her backyard when something bit her on the foot. the child was airlifted to the hospital with a rattlesnake they found that could help with treatment. the drought could be bringing out more and more snakes but human activity attracts them. >> big problem is kids littering. rats, squirrels, mice, like food, bees, yellow jackets. flies like this food sitting around, attracts lizards.

they eat lizards. >> snakes strike if they are threatened. never try suck out the venom. the girl is in stable condition. new at 6:00 p.m. a special delivery along a busy bay area highway made with the help of firefighters. the south san francisco fire department says it responds to 7,000 calls every year and this is one they will never forget. ktvu's allie rasmus tells us their training helped them deliver a baby. >> reporter: when a call comes in firefighters prepare for the worse. but every once in a while their assignment comes with a happy ending. >> this is a special call and a special day. we are pleased we were a part of it. >> reporter: it started monday morning when a baby boy was born right in the back of this

ambulance on highway 101. >> we are not sure if it was san bruno or burlingame. >> what matter to him is the delivery went smoothly. 3:45 a.m. monday morning they called 911 when they realized they wouldn't be able to make it to the hospital in time on their own. the baby arrived on the road 15 minutes into their trip to the hospital. >> going to be one of those kids that wants to be in a hurry. >> reporter: they are all trained paramedics. they took action when they realizedized the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby'sneck. >> every first responder is or has been a paramedic. >> reporter: every firefighter is a parent. . >> three kids. you are used to seeing the

and texas. atlanta, georgia. we don't see that here. when you get it, it is like wow, that is different. moisture gone, the temperatures come up. thursday warmer. friday warmer still. friday is the warmest day of the week. high clouds are gone. the fog. forecast highs, reds, boom, there they are. tomorrow. friday will be the hottest day of the week. temperatures on friday a, mid- 90s. more than that. livermore valley, 98, 99. 89 danville. 89 pleasanton tomorrow. air quality good. the way the pattern shook out. i hope you got moisture. when i see free water -- right now water is costing us. went up 24% on the bills. when i see the lawn getting wet and the trees getting wet. my car. it was wet.

out. what do we know bout the surprise -- about the surprising hero? >> reporter: yeah. he is a surprise. i guess when you look that big picture for him and what was expected of him. bottom line, dehydrated. as a precaution they did have him spend the night in the hospital. he is banged up and bruise but coach says he will play his usual minutes tomorrow and he will start. bottom line warriors fans don't get your hopes up. matthew dellavedova will definitely be playing. mean time, well, you know, you look at his activity yesterday and, you know, i was saying today, it is nice when the international press gets involved because they ask unusual questions. have a listen today as lebron james meets the international media along with matthew dellavedova as well.
