little bit of gray. certainly it's been a hot few days. we'll see how much warmer it's going to get. welcome to mornings on 2 . >> good morning. we're talking about the cloud cover out there, the fog. it's certainly been warm the last couple days. we'll send it over to mark in our weather center stepping in for rosemary. >> fog pushing in and it's been wacky weather week. remember we had the heat advisories and rainfall wednesday and yesterday the hot temperatures inland. today we'll cool things off a little bit. here's our live camera looking out and breaks in the clouds, but still the coast and bay with some cloud cover. we're going to cool things off a little bit, but still toasty numbers toward livermore.

ninety-six in san francisco. the fog has been scattered in nature. stepping outside the door, 63 degrees in livermore. san francisco upper 50s with overcast. santa rosa reporting mostly cloudy skies. here's the plan for today for your saturday. we have the fog near the coast and bay and then more sunshine this afternoon. partly cloudy skies near the coastline, 8:00 temperatures upper 50s to upper 60s, temperatures inland upper 80s. by about 4:00 pretty warm numbers, san jose 84, a bit of a breeze kicking up around 15- 20. we'll have more on the forecast coming up. we're following developing news on interstate 880. traffic backed up in the

southbound direction with all lanes blocked. the chp has issued an alert and says the highway is expected to be shut down until 8:40 this morning. they say a person jumped off the overpass. they're treating it as a suicide and are asking drivers to avoid the area if possible. we're following a developing story in dallas, texas where a standoff appears to have just ended with a man accused of shooting at police headquarters. moments ago a police sharpshooter fired into the armoured vehicle hitting him. officers are checking to see if he was killed. police had negotiated with him for hours overnight and posted pictures of the attack on the twitter page. there were bullet holes in squad cars and buildings. officers found pipe bombs

planted outside the building. >> this was an on-againoff- again negotiation. he would get angry and hang up and stop talking and would rant and not really have a conversation with us. >> he is a 50-year-old man who claimed he was going to blow up the police department because he says they took his child and accused-of being a terrorist. we're monitoring the story and will have updates. high temperatures have people searching for ways to beat the heat and last night the concert in the park was absolutely fabulous. look at those pictures. some people had help in the shade to stay cool. for people attending graduation ceremonies, umbrellas kept the sun off their backs. the scorching heat also brought with it wildfire concerns. >> the fire behavior wasn't extreme, so we're lucky this occurred early in the day

rather than later. >> this started about 11 in the morning and firefighters were able to get the flames under control quickly. they say it's important to remember that fire season is just getting underway. in response emergency centers are being operated. last monday high temperatures did cause a large number of outages and response times were slow. they've opened emergency centers starting yesterday afternoon. >> we have crews that will be remaining here on site much later than normal hours so that during the peak hours should there be any kind of heat related outages they're ready to roll. >> the problems aren't actually caused by demand from customers, but most often caused by heat related problems with equipment and transformers. a wildfire in northern california has grown to a

little more than 1,000 acres. that fire was sparked by lightning strikes on tuesday in the trinity national forest about halfway between eureka and redding. a team of 200 firefighters are battling the flames along with 17 helicopters and two air tankers. the great america ride where two people were injured yesterday will remain closed today. authorities tell us the employee hurt suffered what's described as a traumatic injury. witnesses say he was trying to get his cell phone that was dropped near the ride. the park visitor who was hurt suffered a hand injury. the accident happened on the roller coaster flight deck formerly known as top gun. the ride can go up to 50 miles an hour. the park has not released information on how the injury happened. a ten-year-old girl was airlifted to hospital in southern california after she was found unconscious after

riding roller coaster at six flags. it happened on the revolution ride. the 113-foot coaster loops around and reaches speeds of 55 miles an hour. park representatives are trying to figure out if she lost consciousness because of the ride. a man shot dead is causing a protest, there for a man who was killed during a confrontation with officers. the rally started where he was shot. police say he was passed out in a car with a loaded gun on the passenger seat. demonstrators attached themselves to each other and a replica of the car. >> whether or not we knew the

victim is traumatic and we know that it's a day we all fear. >> police say they spent more than an hour trying to wake him up and eventually broke the window, which led to a confrontation. we're learning new information about a home invasion robbery in san jose. police say it was an inside job. prosecutors blame the homeowner's teenage son who allegedly got help from known gang members. >>reporter: the video blasted on social media and news of two teens armed with knives robbing a home in broad daylight. prosecutors say it was not a random act, but masterminded by the victim's 17-year-old son who does not live there. >> sources have provided

information that he is actually the one who set this up and initiated the contact and provided information to help the gang members that he knows from high school commit the crime. >>reporter: they're accused of robbing the house, and authorities say back on may 8 all of them drove to the home, two inside armed with kitchen knives ransacked the house. two women, prosecutors say, are staying with close family friends. the man chased one woman, kicking down a door as she desperately tried to hold the door closed. the women and baby locked themselves in a bathroom. >> he's turning on his own family. >>reporter: his father did not speak to the media at the arraignment, but last month told us that he wanted whoever did this behind bars. >> they're very dangerous,

armed. >>reporter: his attorney wanted bail to be lowered saying they had strong ties to the community and no priors. the judge set bail at $200,000 the teens have been charged as adults given the seriousness of the crime. they'll be back in court in july. if convicted he could face-up to 20 years in jail. people planning to ride bart should be prepared foreclosures, shutting down some stations all day today. ac transit will be providing a bus during that closure. they're repairing traction and a switch that's in bad shape. the track's wooden ties are also worn out. service is expected to resume in time for game five of the finals at the arena. a closure date is also in store for doyle drive through san francisco. the roadway is set to be closed

. i think there was a temperature spike yesterday and today. here's the camera looking toward the point. haze here and temperatures inland back up to mid to upper 90s. let's talk about the golden state warriors back in the bay area getting ready for game 5 . the treatment was greeted by fans as they arrived back in oakland. many people were camping out in their cars to try to get a glimpse of their favorite players. the series is tied at two games a piece heading into tomorrow's game. they'll be hosting a special watch party at oracle arena on tuesday for game 6 held back in cleveland. tickets go on sale at 2:00 today. it will cost fans 15 bucks, but everyone who attends the watch party will have a chance to get a commemorative ticket, cheer card and just a fun place to watch the game. a portion of the proceeds from the cedes sales will be

donated to charity. the city is taking extra security measures to prepare for the last game of the finals. back in january of 2003 the city erupted into violence after the ravens lost the super bowl to the buccaneers. rioters torched cars and looted businesses. they've contacted local law enforcement including the highway patrol and asked them to be on heightened alert. the finals could end tuesday night. city postponed their meeting because of concerns about possible unrest. on a more positive note, you can see support for the warriors popping up. the chronicle reports that on social media people have posted pictures of road signs that have been hacked. these electronic message boards that normally warn drivers of construction delays now have messages cheering on the team.

sunny, but with a cool ocean breeze. >> i've got a 68 for you. that's the thing about the bay area, the big range in temperatures. we do have temperatures ranging from the 60s to the 90s. yesterday of course around 100 to 101 degrees. clear skies inland, but fog making a comeback in parts of the coast and bay. i heard the foghorn going off in san francisco this morning, so some overcast over the bay. inland a completely different story. temperatures on track to reach the mid to upper 90s. here's a look right now at live stormtracker 2 . there's storms out there, but it's kind of mixed up a little bit. we could have partly cloudy skies in parts of the shoreline later on today. current numbers right now 63 degrees in livermore, oakland 59 and san francisco upper 50s. the forecast headlines, of course fog this morning, warm

to hot inland, but a cooler sunday and gradually warming up next week, especially by wednesday and thursday. san francisco for today the north beach festival, always a fun event and part of the city. 10:00 60 degrees on track to reach the upper 60s with skies becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon hours. i think we'll bump up the 92 to 95 degrees, but it will be a little cooler than yesterday. livermore yesterday was 101. today baseball giants at the at&t park. temperatures upper 60s with partly cloudy skies in san francisco. today mild temperatures for the coast and still hot inland, readings in the upper 90s, but this area of low pressure kind of develops, especially for tomorrow. that will be the source of cooling for the second half of the weekend. for today here we go.

some of the fog this morning and clearing back to near the shoreline. lots of different temperatures out there. winds do pick up and the onshore breeze picking up around 10-20 miles an hour. oakland is 70s, santa cruz 68 degrees and san francisco 69. a look ahead at your five-day forecast with the temperatures shaving off a few more degrees in the sunday forecast, then a cooling trend continuing monday. maybe a bump in the numbers by tuesday and into wednesday, but as a meteorologist it's been fascinating with temperatures 109 in gilroy on monday and pretty good rainfall wednesday. yesterday we soared back up and a little more manageable.

correctional facility in the taylor shop as well as maintenance provider. >> mitchell is also suspected of agreeing to be a get-away driver, but didn't show up. investigators say she had a change of heart at the last minute. she's being held on $100,000 bail and is due back in court monday. a former congressman shot while in office will receive a rare honor today. the navy will honor her. gabrielle give gifford ship is being named for her. military veterans took issue with the name and thought it should have been named after a former service member instead. if it wasn't for him i

. in dallas police there shot a man who was accused of attacking police headquarters are but officers so far are not revealing whether that man is still alive or not. police do say the man used an assault weapon and switched to a shotgun during a shooting incident outside of headquarters. officers also found several suspicious bags, with at least one of them containing a pipe bomb. residents in the area are now being allowed to return home. the great america ride will remain closed today. the accident happened near the roller coaster flight deck formerly known as top gun. the employee hurt suffered a traumatic injury. the guest who was hurt suffered a hand injury. temperatures experienced across the bay area, the up and down weather, but yesterday people at the graduation ceremony kept cool with umbrellas. others cooldown with snow

fairfield 91 degrees, san jose 84 and san francisco 69 degrees. more changes in the sunday forecast. more on that coming up. the state water board is cutting water allotments to long time water rights holders. more than 100 farmers are water districts, on the list in the latest round of cuts is the part that supplies irrigation water to the valley and other areas. >> for the most part senior water right holders will be irrigation district, which will be farming. there will be smaller communities that might be one of their sources of water. >> officials say the regional water system which serves san francisco and parts of the peninsula is not included, but

could be in the future. on monday the pittsburgh city council will consider raising rates and imposing fines. under the plan they would go up about 4%. the plan also calls for fines between 25 and $1,000 for excessive water use. a slimy sea creature has been turning up on east bay beaches. giant purple shrugs like the one in this picture have been seen on several shore lines. they're harmless plant eaters, but can weigh more than 15 pounds and reach 30 inches in length. most of the ones seen here are about the size of a large fist. they've been spotted along the shores at miller knox in richmond and other areas. they're native to the area and are likely washing ashore because of the unusually warm

water temperatures along the coast. a large number of dead carp have been appearing and washing up on the shoreline. according to fish and wildlife, the die off appears to be lake wide and only affects carp. in 2008 there was another carp die off and many were infected with coy her piece herpes virus. the renovated northern half of delores park is set to open next week. the city has added a large concrete walkway. once both sides are completely renovated the park will have two dozen rest rooms instead of just four. >> the overall layout has been successful for 100 years. we really didn't want to change the park too much in any really

dramatic way. >> the northern part of the park will open next thursday. the same day the south side will close for a few months while the city updates the irrigation system. a 15-year-old that was riding as a front passenger when the driver lost control and crashed into a tree the night before mother's day died, and her family is raising money and are creating a memorial bracelet to remind drivers to be careful. >> a lot of parents have been putting them on the gear shift of their children so every time they look at it and are reminded. >> she was killed a week before her 16th birthday. she was an honor student who dreamed of being a corporate events planner after college. thousands of students across the bay area are walking across the stage to graduate. congratulations to all the

grads, but for one teenager the day had special meaning because he received a life saving organ transplant seven years ago. since then he's spent several hours paying the gift forward. >> i'm a little bit nervous graduating from high school. >>reporter: family, friends and an organ donor helped him get here. >> we're going to get one more thing. >>reporter: he's graduating with the help of an 18-year-old who died before receiving his own diploma. >> we'll put johnny on top of him so he can go to the graduation too. >>reporter: he was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2008 while on his way to adult night school. he was a recipient of his liver that saved his life. >> if it wasn't for him i wouldn't be walking the stage today. >> mikey and johnny are

walking the stage today. >>reporter: ever since the donation he's been paying it forward in a big way. this video from when he started an effort to feed the homeless, not just on thanksgiving, but once a month. he's helped those less fortunate and even his own classmates. >> they basically signed up and received. i helped them out and they helped me out. >> i'm glad he decided to pay it forward. it became contagious with my family first and everybody just caught on. >>reporter: he plans to major in social work when he attends cal state this fall. right now he's enjoying the moment and not thinking about the 14 times he was in and out of the hospital since the transplant, the recovery.

doesn't want any communication. >> officials are questioning other hate crimes that she has apparently reported, like a noose found outside her home. take a look at this video from the berkley national laboratory. it shows a herd of goats making their way down. it looks like they're hungry and anxious to get at the grass. officials say by allowing the goats to graze, it keeps the grass short and reduces the potential fire hazard. john stamos as been accused of driving under the influence after police received numerous calls about a possible dui driver. he was taken to a local hospital for a possible medical condition. he was cited and released for treatment. he was the only person in the car and said to appear in court on september 11. he became famous for his role as jessie on full house and is

we'll strip away the clouds with patchy overcast. partly cloudy skies for the shoreline. a big temperature range, mid 60s to 90s. the north beach festival taking place, and throughout the afternoon back to upper 60s. once again the temperature range all the way to 96 out toward antioch. more on sunday's forecast in a few minutes. we begin with a developing story from dallas, texas. a police robot is being used to check the condition of a gunman shot by police a short time ago. police say he shot an assault weapon and the gun fire left large holes in the building and car windows.

saturday turned into a protest march. they were protesting the death of a 30-year-old man who was killed during a confrontation with officers. demonstrators attached themselves to each other and a cardboard replica. it was organized by a group called the antipolice terror project. >> whether or not we knew the victim is traumatic for us. it's triggering for us and trauma because black and brown people, we know that's a day we all fear. >> police say he passed out in a car with a loaded gun on the passenger seat and police spent an hour trying to wake him up. an officer eventually broke the car window, which led to a confrontation. the lawyer for the officer said

she opened fire when he reached for his gun. a 17-year-old boy is one of four people charged in a home invasion at his father's home in san jose. surveillance shows them going room to room. prosecutors say it was all masterminded by the homeowners 17-year-old son. >> sources close to the case have provided information that we believe is actually the one who set this up. he initiated the contact and provided information to help the gang members that he knows from high school commit the crime. >> he along with other teenagers are all accused of robbing the house. the teens have been charged as adults. a ride will remain closed today after an employee suffered what's described as a

traumatic injury. he was trying to get a cell phone dropped near the ride. the park visitor suffered a hand injury. it happened on flight deck formerly known as top gun. the ride can go up to 50 miles an hour. so far the park has not released information on how the injury happened. high temperatures had people searching for ways to beat the heat. last night the concert in the park was packed. some people took to the street to stay cool, others enjoyed shade. police attending the graduation ceremony used umbrellas to keep the sun off their back, but the scorching heat also brought with it wildfire concerns. >> humidity was a little higher, so the fire behavior wasn't extreme so we're lucky this occurred earlier rather than later in the day. >> a wildfire started at around 11:00 a.m. in another area. they were able to get it under

are back open. for an eighth straight day hundreds of officers are out searching for two men who used power tools to escape from prison. a worker named joyce mitchell was arrested for helping the men escape. she pleaded not guilty yesterday. they're also questioning her husband. >> he is obviously a person of interest because of the relationship with joyce mitchell and he works in the taylor shop at the correctional facility as well as maintenance provider. >> mitchell is also suspected of being the get away driver, but didn't show up. investigators say she had a change of heart at the last minute. she's being held on $100,000 bail and is due back in court on monday. a three-year-old boy in virginia is learning that all dogs really do go to heaven. luke westbrook asked his mom to write a letter for him, and

as i mentioned in san francisco, the north beach festival taking place this weekend, and for today those readings will be back up into the 60s throughout the afternoon hours. the highs a little cooler than yesterday, but still not cool. still 90s out toward livermore and antioch. oakland mid 70s and san francisco checks in 69 degrees later today. a few changes in the sunday forecast coming up in a few minutes. a slimy sea creature has been turning up on east bay beaches. the giant purple sea shrugs likethe one you see in the picture have been seen on several shore lines. they can weigh 15 pounds and reach 30 inches in length, the size of a two month old baby. most of the ones seen here are about the size of a large fist. so far they've been spotted along the shores of alameda and miller knox national parkthey're likely washing

ashore because of the unusually warm water temperatures along the coast. a large number of dead carp have been one hearing in clear lake and are washing up on the shoreline there. these pictures were sent by a viewer. the die-off appears to be lakewide and for some reason is only affecting the carp in the water. there's good news coming out of the oil spill in santa barbara county. several pelicans that were injured by the spill have been cleaned up. they were released back into the wild yesterday. each bird was washed by hand and nursed back to health. the pipeline rupture leaked 100,000 gallons of oil into the ocean. the newly renovated

northern half of the park is set to open next week. yesterday we got a tour of the changes. the city added a large new concrete walkway so trucks can move in for events without damaging the grass and once both sides are completely renovated the park will have two dozen rest rooms instead of four. >> the overall layout has been successful for 100 years, and we really didn't want to change it too much in a dramatic way. >> the northern part of the park will open next thursday, and the south side will close for a few months while they update the irrigation system and add rest rooms. take a look at this video from the berkley national laboratory. it shows a herd of goats making their way down the hill.
