for a check of the weather. it was cool this morning cooler than yesterday. >> on-shore breeze blowing this morning. marine layer deeper. cool-down will continue for today. inland falling out of the 90s for most of us. look at what is happening outside. you see from storm tracker 2 no rain and patchy drizzle along the coastline. the big story is the cool-down for inland communities. it dropped from five to 15 degrees and we'll see numbers fall off for the afternoon. giving you a view of the low clouds and fog inside the bay stretching into the east bay and on shore breeze blowing through the delta. 23 miles per hour gusting to 30. so that robust breeze helping to bring in some of that cool pacific air through the delta and pacific valley. oakland 57. walnut creek 54. 45 outside your door.

shifting over to the areas 55, upper 50s sfo into mountain view. outside your door in san francisco. here is the 24-hour temperature change. temperatures cooling off. little bit cooler out there. fairfield, concord and livermore and san jose, temperatures down by four degrees. the bay down one to two degrees. here is a look at the afternoon highs, along the coast we'll partly to mostly cloudy. comfortable weather, 74 for oakland. and inland it is warm but not as hot. 88 for livermore. 89 in antioch. temperatures will cool down as we get back to work on monday. i'll have a look at that extended forecast coming up. we're 10 hours away from tip off of game five of the nba final, warriors and cavaliers tied at two games each. who ever wins tonight will be

market. the patrol officers approached the vehicle and saw something suspicious inside and then called the bomb squad. authorities shut down the street along with market and mission. the bomb squad determined there was nothing hazardous and gave the all-clear before midnight. tragedy in vallejo after a boy drowns in a swimming pool. this is the second such accident in the past few weeks in the bay area. we have more on the emotional reaction from neighbors. >> oh, golly poor baby. >> reporter: russell turner lives directly behind the house where it happened. he is friendly with the family and he has seen the boy playing. >> golly i'm so sorry to hear that. >> all was quiet as police wrapped up their investigation. earlier the parents had rushed to kaiser hospital with the ambulance and then come home without their son. >> i seen the family into the home and heard the cries and the moans from the mother, and it was pretty terrible to me.

>> need a cover with the pool or some sort -- >> reporter: vallejo police said the pool was accessible out the back door. the youngster didn't slip away. he was in the back yard alone and the mom and dad aware of it. >> the parents were inside the house. the boy was playing outside. at some point they didn't hear the child playing out the back. they went to check on him and found him floating in the pool. >> nine days ago in concord a 1-year-old girl drowned in a back-yard pool. her mother was home but didn't realize the toddler wandered outside. the parents tried resuscitation and paramedics continued cpr but both kids were under too long. >> i know they keep the boy out of the area. you know, i always see him when anybody is out there. there is always somebody out with him. >> but not this time, not this once. the family moved in about a year

ago and had been renovating. possibly preoccupied by the work they were doing. >> many pools in america don't have covers. one of those sad situations that something happened. >> police are investigating how it happened but at this point it appears the drowning was a tragic accident and the parents were not arrested. a missing boy was found after he was allegedly kidnapped by his mott. they believe 18-year-old trinnian gonzalez was taken by his mother from his grandmother's home. the minimum wage in los angeles is going up. mayor -- the mayor signed the minimum wage to $15 an hour the first increase would be in july of next year when the minimum wage would be $10.50. that will gradually go up to $15. san francisco and seattle have similar minimum wage laws. people are expected to gather in west hollywood for

political actions. organizers say important issues addressed include marriage rights, as well as issues facing transgender people such as violence and access to medical care. a stanford will hold 124th commencement ceremony. gates open in about an hour from now. this is video from last year's ceremony which featured microsoft co-founder bill gates and his wife melinda. sanford is handing out 1700 bachelors, and 2400 masters and 1,000 doctor rates. some of the least known heroins are in the bay area. they're all known by the same name rosie the riveter. there is a museum named in their hon nofrment richmond is where many women learned how to rivet and weld. for many it was the first time they ever worked outside of the

new this morning lions tigers and bears are among several animals that escaped from a zoo in the former soviet union. take a look at this video. you can see there are animals walking through the streets. according to the associated press at least eight people in georgia have been killed including three zoo workers.

some of the animals including a hippopotamus have been captured. it is unclear how many of the deaths are from the flood flooding and how many are from animal attacks. the former soviet republic capital is 750 miles northeast of turkey. for the first time we're hearing from the father of the man accused of firing at dallas police officers. the father of 35-year-old suspect james boulware said his son was mentally ill and the legal system broke him. authorities say boulware shot at the police station friday night. the attack left bullet holes in the building and police car windows. you can see them there. the officers chased down boulware who was driving in an armored vehicle. police officers shot and killed boulware. his father said legal issues pushed him over the edge. >> i believe he more thought he could have hit the police station, make a stink out of it,

make a statement and go off. and he got himself killed, i guess. >> according to his father, boulware blamed authorities for losing custody of his son. boulware has been in several heated arguments with family members and was arrested in 2013 on charges of choking his mother. a gun accident telly went off in new york city at a wedding. four people were injured. the victims were all guests at the wedding which occurred in the luxurious walled dorf as store ya. waldorf astoria. an elderly woman who got lost on the highway in northern washington state is home safe thanks to the help of a state trooper. >> if we can get you out of here. >> just don't tip it. >> i'm not going to tip it. >> he did not tip it. that is dashcalm video shows the trooper with the 80-year-old woman. she was out and about on her

bad weather. she was rescued off the japanese coast yesterday after sending out a distress signal. the 30-year-old left japan a week ago hoping to be the first woman to row solo across the pacific. two homes damaged by a two alarm grass fire in vallejo. you see the smoke spreading across several acres. crews were called out to creek view drive yesterday morning. winds sent embers on to the roofs of two homes burning the shingles. firefighters were able to put out the roof fires before they spread. ground crews worked quickly and able to contain the flames to a five-acre grass aefrment the cause of that fire is still under investigation. a wildfire burning in trinity county spread to 1500 acres. lightning sparked the flames at the forest located between eureka and reading. the fire was only 15% contained

yesterday. the sheriff's office ordered mandatory evacuations in the area. no injuries or damage to private property was reported. extreme heat and fire danger residents need to be vigilant. residents tried to fight a fire with a garden hose and say they are lucky the firefighters arrived quickly and put it out. firefighters say there are lessons to be learned. >> the best time to water is cool early morning hour. if the dry grasses are up to your knee s that needs to be handled. even that it needs to be handled in the early cool hours of the day. >> the agency responded responded to nine fires. two fires were started by some kind of mowing. it is called the uber of air travel. a look at the new service that can have you flying to your destination with only 30 minutes notice. game five is hours away.

look at the on-shore breeze. fairfield, wind at 34 miles per hour. this is a good indication of what is going on as far as cool-down. 56 degrees in fairfield. 57 in walnut creek. upper 40s and low 50s in napa and into santa rosa. 57 for san jose. i'll have a look at your afternoon highs in a bit. investigation continues into a traumatic injury of an employee at california's great america amusement park. it happened friday night after 8:00 p.m. on the flight deck roller coaster. great america says an employee was hit by one of the cars but was alert when he was taken to the hospital. witnesses say he was trying to retrieve his cell phone that was dropped by one of the riders. i guess also reported a hand injury. the ride will remain closed during this investigation. there is no word on the condition of the employee. and here is the list of some previous accidents at great america. in 1980 a 13-year-old boy was killed while trying to get on

the willard's roller coaster. in 1991, two couples were injured when the boat hydroplaned. a man tried to retrieve his hat and he was kicked in the head by another rider and that pass injury suffered a broken leg. a 12-year-old boy fell to his death on drop tower after slipping through the ride's restraints. in 2007 a 4-year-old boy bound in the barrier reef wave pool. north bay community is showing support for a popular teacher who died. there was a bake sale outside of petaluma church. he died in a car accident on son home ma county coast. it -- sonoma coast. he started his 7th and 8th grade history classes by playing classic rock music and asking the students to guess the name

>> reporter: vallejo police say the pool was accessible out the back door. but the youngster didn't slip away. he was in the backyard alone, his mom and dad aware of it. >> playing in the backyard, parents were inside the house. and at some point they didn't hear the child play out back and went to check on him and found him bloat floating in the pool. >> reporter: nine days ago in concord a 1-year-old girl drowned in a backyard pool. her mother was home but didn't alize the toddler wandered outside. as in vallejo, parents tried resuscitation and paramedics continued cpr but both kids had been under too long. neighbors here say the parents always seemed attentive. >> i know they keep the boy out of the area. i always see them when anybody's out there. there's always somebody out with him. >> reporter: not this time not this once. the family moved in about a year ago. and had been renovating. possibly preoccupied by the work they were doing.

republic. heavy rains caused some deadly flooding, according to the associated press there are at least eight people in tblisi, georgia, who have been killed, that includes zoo workers. some animals have been captured but unclear how many others are still on the loose. it's also unclear how many of the deaths are from flooding and how many are from animal attacks. the stormer soviet republic's capital is located 750 miles northeast of turkey. we're more about the background of a man shot and killed by dallas police after he was suspected of firing outside police headquarters. the father of 35-year-old james boulware is opening up about his son whom he says was mentally ill. authorities say he shot at the police station friday night and the attack left bulletholes in the building and police car windows. officers later chased down james boulware who was driving an armored vehicle. a standoff lasted for 11 hours before police sniper shot and killed him.

an american woman's attempt to row from japan to fran ended because of bad weather. sonya baumstein was rescued off the japanese coast yesterday morning after sending out a distress signal. the 31-year-old left japan three weeks ago hoping to be the first woman to row across the pacific. she was expecting to finish the journey by late september. in vallejo, smoke damaged two houses -- witnesses say the embers of the roofs of two

nearby homes burning the shingles. fortunately the fire was put out quickly before it spread. ground crews contained the flames to a five-acre grassy area. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. the wildfire burning in trinity county now spread to nearly 1,500 acres. firefighters say lightning sparked the flames tuesday at the shasta trinity national forest, about halfway between eureka and reading. as of yesterday it was only 15% contained. the trinity county sheriff's office ordered mandatory evacuations in the area. there are no reports of injuries or damage to private property. two of south floridian's biggest -- san francisco's biggest and best known soda ads won't be affected by the ordinance. it was passed last week and requires that soda ads carry warnings that say soda can rot your teeth and lead to diabetes. but the giant coke bottle slide at at&t park is exempt from the ordinance as well as the neon

midnight. tragedy strikes a family in vallejo after a young boy drowns in a backyard swimming pool. first responders rushed to the home yesterday where they found the child unresponsive. they rushed him to kaiser medical center. despite their best efforts the boy was pronounced dead a short time later. >> i seen the family, and i heard the cries and the moans from the mother. it's pretty terrible to me. >> this is the second child to drown in a swimming pool in the bay area this month. on june 4th a one-year-old girl drowned in a backyard pool in concord. her mother was home at the time but didn't realize the toddler had wandered outside. for the first time we are hearing from the father of the man accused of firing at dallas police headquarters. the father of 35-year-old james boulware says his son was mentally ill and says the court system broke him. authorities say boulware shot at the police station. that attack left bullet holes in windows and cars. a stand-off lasted for 11 hours before a police sniper shot and

killed ball ware. his father says legal issues pushed his son over the edge. >> and i really believe he more thought he could hit a police station, make a big stink out of it, and go off. and he got himself killed i guess. >> according to his father, boulware blamed authorities for him losing custody of his so. boulware has been in several heated arguments with family members and was arrested in 2013 on charges of choking his mother. the minimum wage in los angeles is going up. the mayor signed into law a measure that will increase the minimum wage to $15 an hour. the first increase would be in july next year when the minimum wage will become $10.50. it will gradually go up to $15. san francisco and seattle already have similar fazed in minimum wage laws. thousands of people are expected to gather in west hollywood today for the annual l.a. pride parade. this event is a colorful

new this morning, some pretty unbelievable pictures. check out this video. that's actually a hippo right there. there's also lions, tigers, and bears among the animals that have escaped a soviet zoo after flooding. at least eight people in the area have been killed, including three zoo workers. 10 others remain missing. some of the animals, including that hippo, have been captured, but it is unclear how many others are still on the loose.

it is also not clear how many of the deaths are from flooding and how many are from animal attacks. the former soviet republic's capital is located 750 miles northeast of turkey. two homes were damaged by a four-alarm grass fire in vallejo. this video shows the smoke as fire spread across several acres. crews were called out to creekview drive at around 11:30 yesterday morning. a battalion chief said is wind sent embers onto the roofs of two nearby homes, burning the shingles. ground crews also worked quickly and were able to contain the flames to a five- acre grass area. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. firefighters are saying with the high heat and extreme fire danger, homeowners need to be extra careful. at this unoccupied home, a person trying to cut downey- high weeds ended up starting a fire that spread to the nine's

motives there. go to our ktvu facebook page. >> with streaking, i wonder if it's really a sacrifice? with the countdown on, you can see signs of warriors pride all over the bay area, even on walls and buildings. earlier we showed new mural being paid on an empty building in oakland. the artists go bey the name illuminary. it took five gallons of blue and yellow paint, 20 spray cap, and more than two days of work but the artists put the finishing touches on the mural a couple days ago. here it is. we're going to reveal it to with you a picture, once they show it. there it is. stef curry in the pose of bay area rapper mac dre. the two walls are 60 feet wide by 20 feet tall. you can see the side by side before and after. the artists have painted close to 50 murals. their next job is going to take them to washington, d.c.

that's a warm day, but yesterday you were at 85. so temperatures again will be falling off for your neighborhood. i'll have a look at your extended forecast in just a little bit. the investigation continues into an accident at the great america amusement park in santa clara. it happened friday night on the flight deck roller coaster. great america says an employee was hit by one of the cars but was alert when he was taken to the hospital. witnesses say he was trying to retrieve a cell phone that was dropped by one of the riders. a guest also reported a hand injury. the ride is going to stay closed during the investigation. there's no word yet on the condition of the employee. and here's a list of some of the previous accidents at great america. in 1980 a 13-year-old boy died while trying to get on the willard wizard roller coaster. and in 1991 two couples were hurt on the yankee clipper when their boat hydroplaned. in 1998 a man died while trying to get his hat.

he was kicked in the head by another rider. happening tomorrow, san francisco police are going to talk about a report that suggests the department may need to increase staffing. right now the police department has 1700 officers. there is a board of supervisors resolution calling for at least 2200 officers. a report from the city shows police staffing levels are less than nine other cities comparable in size to san francisco. police chief says he is looking to put more officers on the streets. >> there's nowhere in san francisco along any commercial corridor where they don't want to see more officers on foot, walking around. >> fur talking about reducing crime, we need to look at a whole package of initiatives and not only more police. >> opponents say they're worried about the cost of adding more officers. one officer costs $175,000 in salary and benefits but a city report says from 2004 to 2014, police staffing dropped by 3% while san frances can he's

businesses took part in the first "get baked" sale in san francisco. food trucks and booths lined 11th street yesterday. they sold everything from pancakes and macaroons and empenadas. four people are facing charges in connection with a multimillion-dollar marijuana bust. the coast guard says it spotted the small boat full of thousands of pounds of marijuana early friday morning. it was beached near mill creek and big summer. police say they recovered $18 million worth of marijuana on the boat. the four people were arrested were found in a van not far from the boat. three are in their 20s and one is a teenager. the biggest movie of the weekend is bringing in monstrous ticket sales. >> he just went and made a new dinosaur? >> probably not a good idea. >> not a good idea fore
