championship forecast. >> that sounds good. >> every day is a championship forecast. as we look forward to today, if you enjoyed yesterday, that cooldown, it does look warmer today. there's gusts up to 30. and it's still going to be a day where temperatures are really near average to slightly below. how are you out there? we do have the low cloud deck in place and temperatures in 50s for some, upper 50s for others. 48 in santa rosa so it is cooler. almost 31 miles per hour gusts. at this time of year i look at travis because it is kind of a key. fog is there but not as much as yesterday. high pressure, weak as it may be, is trying to build it but it looks like a quiet week. it will be sunny and nice and a little warmer. more 80s. by the coast, around the bay, still holding on to 60s and

70s. here he is. at 4:01. >> here we are, steve, and you know what, traffic is actually doing okay. >> i would hope so. >> it is for the most part. if you are driving around the bay area. let's go to the east shore freeway and start there. traffic is doing pretty well. if you are driving from the bridge to the mcarthur maze, it is a nice trip. looking at the bay bridge toll plaza, that is light. no problems getting into san francisco. the commute continues to move along nicely. if you're driving from livermore valley and over to castro valley we're off to a good start. let's go back to the desk. we begin with the breaking news in berkley we told you about just a couple minutes ago. five people killed and at least eight other hurt after an apartment building balcony collapsed. it happened at the library

gardens apartment building on kittridge street. that's where we find ktvu fox 2 on this tragedy. >>reporter: we know at least five people are confirmed dead, eight injured. some of them so severely that those injuries are considered life threatening. now, it happened around 12:40 this morning. a balcony fell off the apartment complex that you see behinds me here four stories up. it can fallen and is resting on top of the balcony below. there are family members here on scene and waiting to hear if their loved ones are okay. the victims are scattered at area hospitals. this apartment building again is on kittridge. it's a complex called library gardens, and according to the website for rent.com, the building was built in'76. we spoke to a man coming out f

of a nearby movie neither after this happened -- theater after this happened and said he gave victims rides to hospital. he said many of them were texting and informing family of what happened. the identities of the victims have not come out. berkley police have launched a full investigation. they've informed the people in the unit below that they're not allowed to use their balcony. we're going to stay on top of this developing story this morning. we will keep you updated on the injuries and any information we receive from berkley police, we will pass to you. back to you. >> thank you so much. in the meantime, san jose police are asking for your help in finding a missing 91-year- old man with alzheimer's disease. the family of murrel richard says he may have walked out of his home. his wife noticed the front door

open about 6:30 last night. he was last seen wearing a gray and white striped shirt and blue jeans. if you see him, please contact police. tonights the golden state warriors could be nba champions. they lead the finals over the cleveland cavaliers much that's after pulling away in the 4th quarter of game five. the warriors are 3-1 and the cavaliers are 7-2 in the playoffs. the warriors know getting a win won't be busy. >> it's probably the hardest win in the series. on the inside it's going to be war. >> now again, the warriors looking to close out the series tonight in cleveland. if it does have to go to a game seven, that would be back here at home. about 17,000 warriors fans will be watching game six inside

oracle arena. tickets went on sail on saturday -- sale on saturday and they quickly sold out. some of the tickets are going for more than $50 each. arena doors open at 4:30 this afternoon. now, again, if the warriors win tonight, there's no doubt fans will be out celebrating. amber lee has more on what the city of oakland is doing to prepare for those celebrations. >>reporter: at oakland city hall, a banner proclaims loudly that this is warriors ground, but inside city leaders are largely silents about plans for a possible victory celebration. >> we will be prepared to celebrate with golden state and that's about all i can say about that. >>reporter: city leaders did tell me if there's a warriors win tuesday, then the parade will take place friday.

if the finals go to game seven on friday and the warriors win, the parade will be on monday. >> usually with celebrations, you would get a parade within days of a victory, and the warriors 'organization is prepared for that. >>reporter: at overland bar and grill, the owner says he's ordered four times the normal amount of food and beverage. >> tomorrow we're going to have about a thousand for the burgers, but the problem is we also have 15 kegs coming in. >>reporter: he's looking to increase business that is prepared for the possibility of celebrations getting out of control. >> what we're doing in lieu of boarding up the windows and doing things that are that drastic, what we decided we're going to do is just add extra security. >>reporter: oakland has a history with sports fans taking things too far. in 2003, fans angry over the

raiders loss took over the streets. >> a lot of our businesses will be hosting events and parties and we want to make it safe. >>reporter: police won't go into details but say they've been working on a plan for weeks. they're call on law enforcement to be on stand by and ever available law enforcement officer will be on duty. >> we want a safe environment for everyone. parents are still searching for answers after a school district announced a staffing overhaul at an elementary school. administrators are requiring all 29 teachers and 15 staff at west valley elementary in sunnyvale to reapply for their jobs. those not interested or selected will be transferred. at a meeting last night, the district tried to explain the decision to about 250 parents and teachers. the superintendent said the change was fueled by tension

between the administration, the teachers and parents. >> really taking over a lot of the school. it wasn't good and healthy. >> it would have been nice to know what the problem was because tension is a very vague thing and we don't know what the problem is. >> the school's new principal was introduced last night. she has already begun interviewing teachers. the district says it plans to announce personnel changes at the end of the month. the evergreen school district will pay $15 million dollars as part of a settlement deal in a lawsuit accusing teachers of not doing enough. craig chandler was sentenced to 75 years in prison for molesting five young girls. the victim's parents brought the lawsuit against the district. one of the family's lawyers says the family received sexual

harassment complaints a year after he was hired. reading the statement, we believe the settlement will anow these young women to move forward and heal. the mayor is putting his focus on munie again. he will tour the next generation of light rail vehicles. the trains are also designed to carry bicycles. the mayor is one of several city leaders who are taking part in the muneie challenge, promising to ride muni for 22 days this month so leaders can get an idea of what it's like to use the transit system. shifting gears, u.s. will take on nigeria in the world cup. after scoring three goals in their opening match, the u.s. women's team was held goalless

that the leader of al-qaeda in yemen was killed in a drone strike. he was the leader of al-qaeda a on the arabian peninsula. time now is 4:14. and hot, dry and windy conditions are fueling a massive wild fire in alaska. hundreds of people have been forced to leave their homes but no serious injuries have been reported. patricia stark has more on how firefighters from across the country are helping to battle the blaze. >>reporter: a massive wild fire in alaska is forcing hundreds of people to leave their homes. the fire has mushroomed in size since it began sunday afternoon near the southern alaska town of willow, not far from anchorage. >> you can see the glow from that area, and to fly up and see it up close was very

impressive and frightening as well. the sort of fuel that's available to it is a concern. >>reporter: the fast-moving fire which is being fueled by windy conditions has already destroyed more than two dozen homes and up to 20 other structures, including sleds and outhouse, but -- sheds. >> what's really significant is a the effort on the part of the firefighters to do what they can to protect the structures that are there. it was amazing to see the homes that are still there. >>reporter: no one has been seriously injured in the fire which has grown to more than 6,000 acres. officials say the blaze is at zero percent contakenment, but crews -- containment, but crews are working around the clock to get it under control. >> you're going as close to the fire as you can, but the

response has been huge. >>reporter: the governor has issued a disaster declaration. what cause $it is under investigation. a grass fire burned dangerously close to home. the flames were reported at 9:00 last night near mag da lean a avenue. crews attacked the fire on the ground and made water drops from the air. about three acres burned. there is no word on what started that fire. it's 4:17. tike to check back in with sal. how is it going so far? >> it's going okay. not a lot going on right now. let's take a look at what we have going on. starting with interstate 880 it looks good driving past the coliseum in oakland in both directions. it's a nice-looking drive and there are no problems all the way up to downtown oakland. if you're driving to the bay bridge toll plaza, it's been

light and no major problems. the rest of the east bay from hayward to fremont, we have a nice commute. 4:17, let's go to steve in the weather center. i was talking to brian. >> he's a very interesting question. >> i didn't know you were about done. we have a tropical storm bill that's about ready to hit the texas coast. we'll show you that in a second. that's going to give them rain that they don't need. they had 18 to 24 inches of rain in may. we have fog out there. not as much as yesterday but it's making a little bit of a push, although it made a stronger surge yesterday. the wind is still pretty decent. 50s on the temperatures, 48 in santa rosea.

brentwood 58, fairfield 55. gusts up to 25. more of an onshore push, even though it's not as strong as yesterday. 50, 60, 70s through the interior, 50s on the coast. the water temperature went down. half moon bay went down, monterey went down. that's a good sign. focusing on cleveland, early morning rain. it's been very cool throughout much of the great lakes and here we go. this is tropical storm bill, just a wave yesterday. now it's accelerating. areas that absolutely positively don't need any more rain, austin texas and also into houston. they are going to get it. there are reports of maybe 8 to

10 inches of rain possible with that. and the track is going to take it right up through texas, oklahoma and back up towards st. louis and then over towards the ohio valley and the great lakes, so that will be a big weather maker for us. not much at all happening here, just day-to-day changes. some fog. on the cool side for the lows, and also warmer inland. had a lot of 70s and very low 80s yesterday. not much of a change but warmer for some inland as we have less fog coverage here, but fog will retreat back to the coast. maybe a little warmup friday and saturday but it looks like it cools back down sunday and monday. >> perfect tennis weather. >> you were talking about tennis rackets. >> what happened. >> i had two rackets and now i'm down to one.

welcome back to "mornings on two." it's 4:23 and here's allocates the top -- a look at the top stories. we've been talking about texas preparing for more rain. storm watches and warnings are up across the southern part of the state. tropical storm bill is expected to hit the gulf coast in the next few hours. for casters say it could drop as much as ten inches of rain by next week. >> we expect it will be a rain events, we expect there will be flooding. we don't know where or how bad right now. >> some people still cleaning up after the memorial weekend flooding, but others actually taking advantage of the pending storm by hitting the beaches and enjoying the waves. we are hearing the panicked 911 calls after two teenagers

were seriously injured in north carolina. >> the hand was bitten by a shark. we need an ambulance right away. >> somebody was hit by a shark. >> okay. ma'am, i need for you to calm down. i'm having a hard time hearing you. what access are you near? >> we're at 55th street. his arm is gone. >> scary. the 12-year-old girl and 16- year-old boy both lost an arm in the attacks. both were about 20 yards off the shore in waist deep water. officials are stopping short of closing down the beach. >> not necessarily important to close the beaches at this point but certainly for people to exercise some caution, certainly don't swim out too

weekend as they were heading off on vacation. mom called the airport. employees found the animal and held on to him until the family returned. what the family didn't know, while they were on that vacation in texas, hobbs was having an adventure of his home. several employees snapped photos of hobbs. >> so he had an adventure. and back to the little boy. 4:27 is the time right now. there's a big announcement coming from the gap. >> i think it's changed a lot. it used to be really good. a lot of people have that to say. the company now deciding to close nearly 200 stores and what it means for jobs here in the bay area. we are live in berkley after five people are dead when a balcony collapses. we will have more on this developing story next. right now the south bay
