time. so the geese population got to me right away and said, hey, they were ducks. they were geese. they weren't ducks. there you go. here are the people arriving for the parade. still people arriving. let's take a look at the traffic pictures. traffic is going to be a little bit slow in some areas. this is a look at the east bay. it's much lighter volume than usual today. out to the bay bridge toll plaza, you can see traffic is moving along very nicely as you -- once you make it on the bridge. there is a little bit of waiting to do. >> i cannot see what my third picture will be. we're back to the maps. you can see that traffic volume is doing very well. this is 242. a little bit of slowing heading downg to the walnut creek interchange but not much. as i go back to you, did i hear that ross mcgown is in the

oakland area you parking. we'll check in and keep on top of all of the events and all of the excitement going on. also happening in the bay area, president obama is coming to san francisco. he will be addressing hundreds of mayors at the national mayors' conference. he flies in later this afternoon. but the conference itself, it kicks off this morning. ktvu fox 2's janine de la vega joining us live in san francisco to tell us what he will be doing here and some other highlights of that event. good morning, janine. >> reporter: good morning, dave. we're here in front of the hilton union square where federal agents as well as police have been stationed out here. they've been doing security sweeps. now, we know there are also no- parking signs all along o'farrell street. that's in preparation for president obama's arrival. president obama will be touching down at sfo at 1:00 this afternoon. he is the keynote speaker at

this conference that nearly 300 mayors attending. he will be speaking at 2:15 this morning. the focus of the conference is to discuss economic health of the cities and the factors that contribute to growth and decline. he will be talking about topics such as water conservation, transportation, education, technology and community policing. last night at a fund-raiser in southern california, he expressed frustration that he couldn't bring about the hope and change he campaigned on, saying the system is still broken because of the division in politics. while here, president obama will attend two fund-raisers and so will presidential candidate hillary clinton. she speaks at the mayors 'conference saturday morning and will be at a home of a real estate broker for a fund- raiser. the conference lasts through monday. it won't just be politicians. carlos santana and mc hammer will be speaking at this mayors' conference. they will be on a panel about

carolina's governor says that suspect in the charleston church shooting, he should get the death penalty. also nbc is reporting that the suspect dylann roof confessed to the crime. and there he is, the 21-year- old. he's due to appear in court. he was arrested in north carolina yesterday. a woman who was driving to work spotted him and his car and called the police. now, roof is accused of killing six women and three men at a church bible study. the people who know roof say he was talking doing something because he said "blacks were taking over the world." now, while roof was being hunted by police, a gospel singer reached out to him directly on facebook with an inspirational message. that message went viral. it reads in part "if you are still out there and you have your phone with you, give your heart to jesus and confess your sins with a heart of forgiveness. he's the only one that can save

your soul." the person who wrote that was marcus stanley. he explains why he did it. >> i asked myself what can i do to make a difference? what could i do in this situation to bring some hope, and i reached out to him directly instead of putting the post up on my own page. >> mr. stanley is very unique. he was a victim of gang violence back in 2004. he was shot eight times after being confronted by gang members. he says it took him a long time but he was able to forgive the people who shot him and he says, that's why he's able to forgive dylann roof. 7:10. bay area religious leaders are reacting to the church shooting. at sole's restaurant there was a monthly meeting of ame church leaders that just happened to come the day after the shooting at the charleston ame church. they say the shooting is a reminder that racism is alive in america, noting that south carolina still openly honors the confederacy and its history

of slavery. >> the very fact they continue to flatten a confederate flag speaks to some of the leadership of the state. >> the pastors say while they do have some level of security at their churches, it's more important to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and safe. your time is 7:11. donations are pouring in for the victims of that berkeley balcony collapse and their families. a gofundme site started with 126,000 at 4:00 this morning. it grew to $138,000 at 6:00 this morning and right now, it has reached $145,000. in the meantime, the investigation into that collapse on tuesday is continuing. the city of berkeley released construction blueprints and some independent engineers reviewing the documents say that balcony should have held up if it had been built to

specifications. well, pruitt water park is being investigated after 200 children complained about being sick. firefighters, paramedics and 18 ambulances rushed to that water park. 34 kids complained of breathing problems, sore throats and they were coughing. 17 of the kid were taken to the hospital. hazmat team was called in to inspect the pool and also wear the chemicals were stored. >> as far as what we found on -- we found nothing that would be consistent with the symptoms that were exhibited here at the pool today. >> now, county officials say pool water samples did show some higher chlorine levels but they say it wasn't high enough to make so many children sick. the water park pool where the children were playing, it's since been closed. we are just hours away from the warriors' parade. just less than three hours now. one man got the mvp to help him

everything goes smoothly. let's take a look now at the bay bridge toll plaza, there is a little bit of a crowd there, it's not that bad but you will see waiting before you get into san francisco. and this morning's commute has also slow in some areas in the east bay but nothing major out there. it's definitely lighter than usual traffic pattern. as we end here, i'm gonna show you that even the oakland police have this unit here where they are taking pictures of people or not taking pictures of people but keeping an eye on people. this is gonna be a great day. oakland police just out here to make sure that everyone is bafning themselves -- behaving themselves and having a good time here at the warriors. you know what? as we transition to the weather, it's not that chilly anymore. it's probably getting to be in the upper 50s, i would say, if i could guesstimate. >> i think you are close. but still overcast, right?

well, today is my last day here at ktvu after 19 years. kind of a bittersweet time since this is a job that i little love but i'm ready to move on to my next adventure. it's a lot easier knowing a really talented person is taking it over the shift. gasia mikaelian mass been anchoring the 5:00 and 6:00 news for how long? >> seven years. >> a long time. i want to, you know, find out about how excited you are about this. and all of the adjustments you got to make. but i also have to ask you what do -- >> sal nailed it like my first day here. props to sal. he knew along but the conversation you saw in the pro mow was conversation i had with a lot of people in the building, at the grocery store.

in kindergarten. sometimes people will come up to me and say michaele yun! michaeleian. others say come up to me in the grocery store. >> sal is really trying. he has it nailed. >> i know you are looking forward to doing the morning shift. you have to make adjustments with your family. >> a lot of adjustments. i have two boys. going into kind and first grade in the fall. we're still in the wakeup early and get them out the door. i thought you were gonna make his lunch, that sort of thing. the morning schedule -- i remember one of the -- you took me out to lunch and you said this schedule works great when you have young children. but i thought, mornings i've done that. now that i'm in that place and i have the two young boys, the schedule couldn't be better and mornings has a feel and a flow and a natural excitement of

energy. >> the nice thing -- you kind of avoid all of the craziness in the morning getting the kids in the morning but you are there in the afternoon and evening which is so important. your kids are used to seeing you on television. you've been in this business a long time. >> before they were born. >> had a lot of highlights. >> i have to tell you, my first time i ever anchored here, i started as a reporter for the 5:00 news. the first time i anchored, i was filling in for you on the noon show. i was so nervous. i remember saying, i have to make tori proud and do it right. they gave me a pillow because the chair was low and they said i think this is ross mcgown's pillow. gathered here near lake merritt just across from the henry k. kaiser convention center. that's something to see. i haven't -- i'm gonna stop lying about this. i remember 1981 when the raiders had their parade. i was a young, young man. i think my dad brought me out there. now i'm a full-grown man. i have never seep so many people in oakland and this is just the beginning. not everyone is here yet. this is really gonna be a party today. but my best advice for you is to take public transportation. if you take b.a.r.t. to 19th street or to 12th street, you could easily walk over here. walking is the -- is the best thing. make your bike is the second thing. there is already a lot of people here waiting for the stage thing. there are already people along broadway. let's go to live traffic pictures. i want to make sure i keep my

traffic people up to date. let's talk about the commute here. i want to show you here that traffic on the bay bridge toll plaza is doing very well westbound as you come through. it's looking very good. the san mateo bridge is also looking okay heading out to the high rise with no major problems. also looking at our traffic maps here. i haven't seen a lot going on. as a matter of fact, if you are looking at the screen right now, you notice that traffic is going to be moving along very well on 580, 680 through dublin. a little bit of slow traffic from 880 south from 238 heading down into union city. it's still lighter volume than usual. one of the things i'm gonna say is get here early. bring a good attitude. it will be an historic day in oakland. all of the players will be here where i am and ktvu is covering the parade, obviously after "mornings on 2" starting at 9:00. >> all right, sal. looks pretty out there. thank you.

7:34. for all of you warrior fans who didn't camp out overnight, b.a.r.t. is the best way to get down to the parade now. brian flores joining us live. you are near the 12th street b.a.r.t. station. i see the crowd growing behind you. >> reporter: it certainly is. good morning. we're at the beginning of the parade route. if you are headed down here now taking public transportation is the best way to get from here along the parade route or if you are going to lake merritt. it takes it so much easier. there's no parking. in terms of ridership numbers and what you need to know if you will take b.a.r.t., we have jim allison, the spokesperson for b.a.r.t. >> we're about 15% higher this morning than we were on the morning of the giants' parade in 2014. so 15% is certainly significant. but the thing to remember that

parade started later. as you can see, the crowd is well behaved and people having fun. >> reporter: we're at the busiest b.a.r.t. station, 1th, 19th -- 12th, 19th. fremont? >> the places where people begin their trip are the busiest and that would be in terms of the fremont, dublin pleasanton, richmond and millbrae station. fremont the busiest. >> reporter: what do people need to know if they will be leaving? there are changes there if they will go in the northbound or southbound direction. >> the rally is closer to lake merritt than where we were. we're asking people headed northbound to come back to this station, 1th street or 19th -- 12th street or 19th. the trains will be carrying most of the people to san francisco and to pittsburg baypoint from here. we're asking people to follow directions and use either 12th street or 19th street if they are going into san francisco or farther out to the east bay.

>> if they are headed south to use lake merritt? >> that's right if you are headed south. >> reporter: more than 500,000, 500,000 riders expected to take b.a.r.t. this morning. take a look, dave and tori. this, crowd continues to grow here. also 11th and prodway, the -- broadway, the floats are ready. everybody wearing their warriors' gear. it will be a party. i have had six people say they will miss you greatly. >> oh,. >> reporter: i'm gonna miss you a lot. a lot of these fans are gonna miss you a lot. >> i really appreciate it. >> the cameraman waving at you. >> thank you. >> you are in a great spot, bribe. >> yes. thank you. >> thank you. 7:37. well, if you have watched any of our live team coverage and rally, i think you can gather one or two people called in sick for work today.

one fan decided to get the day off the honest way so he asked his boss. take a look at this tweet from alex sanchez. he tweeted steph curry and said my work said they would give me the day off for the day if you wrote a letter excusing my absence. steph curry tweeted back. he said, please let him off work for the parade, end quote. we're not sewer if sanches's boss lived up to his end of the bargain but we hope so. >> that's tre men thousands -- tremendous. the parade starts at 11th and broadway and moves onto grand avenue and lake merritt all the way to the kaiser convention center. the major streets that will be blocked off include 10th and 11th between broadway and mlk way. there's practically no access to lake merritt. it's too late. ktvu's special coverage of the

warriors' parade, dub nation celebration, it starts at 9:00 this morning right off we get off the air. we have cameras and reporters. you can follow the action right here and online. the today the suspect in the deadly church shooting massacre in charleston, south carolina is due in court. pam cook joins us in the studio with more on the young man accusedded and the turning -- accused and the disturbing information from his past. >> people across the country are in mourning and looking for earnses. 21-year-old dylann roof was arrested yesterday in north carolina after a woman spotted him in his car and called police. now, roof's facebook photo shows him wearing a jacket covered with two farmer apartheid governments -- former

apartheid governments in south africa. >> it was a race thing. he told me that he -- the black people were taking over the country and that the -- he wanted it to be segregation, white on black or white with the white and the black with the black. [singing] >> at a church service in charleston last night mourners remembered the nine victims of the attack, including the church's pastor. manage the other victims, a high school coach, a college counselor and a library manager. they range in age from 26 to 87. now, dylann roof has reportedly confessed to the shootings and interviews with the charleston police and the fbi. again, he will be in court later today and we'll continue to bring you updates on this story and the investigation. dave? >> all right. thank you. 7:40. san francisco police are busy. they are looking for two young women. they say they stole thousands of dollars of designer

sunglasses. look at the surveillance video. this is from the sun glass hot at the stone's town mall on may 19th. you can see the women. they are looking at glasses and they slipping them into a -- then shipping them into a bag. they were in the store for about a minute before they walked out. one of the women shoved a store employee who tries to keep them from leaving. >> no lack of remorse. they don't care. they walk in for one purpose and that's to steal. >> police say the women appear to be between 16 and 20 years old. they are about 5'5", weighing about 1 50 pounds. as you look amount that video, if you recognize them, call san francisco police. 7:41. san francisco taxi drivers are furious. coming up at 8 clks, the tension brewing over uber's alleged influence on hundreds of politicians in town this weekend. and next time you go on a hike, you may be watched. up next, the reason scientists are now using tracking devices

one of the things i want to tell you, we are looking at the traffic for you here and the traffic is actually doing pretty well in many areas. it's much lighter volume. maybe because everyone is in oakland. let's take a look at the richmond toll plaza, a little bit of heavy traffic here as you drive approaching the toll plaza area. it's just gonna be a little heavy as you drive to marin. it's not that bad. when you get to the bay bridge toll plaza, that's much lighter. there are no major problems getting into san francisco. i mean, this is actually looking like -- almost like a sunday morning out there. let's go to 280 at the 880 interchange in san jose. we do have a little bit of slow traffic trying to get in the valley if you are driving up to cupertino. 101 is a little bit slow. it is definitely lighter than you normally do it. now, when tori campbell first came to "mornings on 2," i had

it's friday, it's june 19th. i'm dave clark. you know, it's a bittersweet day for us here at ktvu. we're celebrating the warriors and their victory parade but we're also saying farewell to my partner, tori campbell. this is the final hour of her last show. >> my last hour. my gosh. >> strange for me to say. i'm sorry. >> hard to believe after 19 years, i'm gonna be leaving. but you know, i'm not comfortable being in the spotlight. i don't really like being the center of the attention. in a way it's awesome we have the warriors' parade to talk about it. >> the timing was great. >> yes. >> we have team coverage of the warriors' celebration. we want to start with a look at weather and traffic. steve is here with a great forecast for us. >> it looks like the fog is

already burning off. there will be machines. temperatures will warm up here. we'll be in the 60s by the time the parade starts. 54 now. you can see some of that low cloud check already getting chewed up. if you are deciding to head out. if you are watching us on your phone 0 or tablet, 60 -- phone or tablet, 60, 70. temperatures cooled off yesterday. they will warm up. they will hold that into saturday/sunday. looks like we're warming up and gorgeous and sunny in vuz. there's fog near -- -- there's nothing here santa cruz. that along with high pressure means it will warm up for many. probably most except for a few near the coast. i hope someone is taking care of you with some coffee this morning. >> reporter: you know, steve?

i -- i am kind of having a hard time hearing you. but if you are talking about the weather, it's getting much better out here. i wanted to show you if i step away -- step away, look at all of these people who have shown up here at the end of the parade route which is -- the henry kaiser convention -- convention center. the traffic is lighter. everyone is already here. the traffic is going to be okay at the bay bridge toll plaza, as a matter of fact, it looks pretty good as you are driving into san francisco. as i mentioned, it looks like a sunday morning there because a lot of people are, you know, not going to work, perhaps they will going to the parade. today will be a busy day in san francisco as well with the conference of mayors and the president showing up for that. san francisco will be very busy.

we're also looking at a commute that is okay on highway 24 through the la fayette area and walnut creek. it's not bad. we are doing pretty well here driving toward the caldecott tunnel. >> reporter: again, if you are trying to come down to the parade, the parade starts on broadway. it goes for two miles, ends up here at the henry j. kaiser convention center. take public transportation. the 12th street or 19th street stations for, they will get you here. you have to walk to get to lake merritt. i'm shire you know how to do that if you have been here before. >> they are saying 5 hufn,000 people will be -- 500,000 people will be showing up. the dub nation is out in full force to celebrate the nba champion golden state warriors. tara moriarty is live in oakland where the excitement is

parking, no stopping. it's a good idea to avoid the area, especially later this afternoon. president obama is expected to arrive at sfo at 1:00 p.m. he will be the keynote speaker at the mayors' conference. around 300 mayors will be discussing the economic health of their metropolitan areas. they will be addressing water conservation, transportation, education, technology and community policing. while the president is in town, he will be attending two fund- raisers. he was at one in beverly hills last night where he acknowledged his truckle to bring about the -- struggle to bring about the home and change he promised during his campaign. hillary clinton is attending a fund-raiser at the home of a real estate broker and she will be speaking at the mayors' conference on saturday morning. the city will be full of politicians. lieutenant-governor gav be newsom, nancy pelosi and -- gavin newsom, nancy pelosi and ed lee and libby schaaf is expected to attend, all we are

and $145,000 at 7:00. we just checked seconds ago. it's now more than $152,000. meanwhile, the investigation into tuesday's balcony collapse is continuing. the city of berkeley released construction blueprints and independent engineers reviewing the documents say the balcony should have held up if it was built to specifications. 8:07. later today, that suspect in the deadly church shooting massacre in charleston, south carolina he's due in court. 21-year-old dylann roof was arrested yesterday in north carolina. a woman spotted him and his car and called the police. now, roof's facebook page shows him wearing a jacket. it's covered with flags from two farmer apartheids in africa. his friend said he was obsessed with race things. >> it was a race thing. the black -- he said the black people were taking over the

country. and that the -- that he wanted it to be segregation. white on black or -- white with the white and the black with the black. >> last night at this comuch service in charleston. mourners remembered the nine victims of that attack, including the church's pastor. among the other victims, a high school coach, a college counselor and a library manager. ages range from 26 to 87. back here at home, bay area religious leaders they are reacting to what happened at the church shooting. at soul 'restaurant a monthly meeting of ame church leaders just happened to come on the day after the shooting at the charleston church. they say the shooting is a reminder. racism is alive in america. and they know -- they noted that south carolina is still openly honors the confederacy and the history of slavery. the pastors say while they do have some security at their churches, it's more important

little bit slow in the area there. but the rest of the commute is actually doing okay. also looking at the commute here, if you are driving on some of the other freeway, let's take a look at live pictures. you can see the traffic is moving okay on the san mateo bridge. we can go to the bay bridge and traffic is also moving along very well. so many people are coming to the warriors's parade. we -- warriors' parade. we have at least a hundred thousand, probably more expected in oakland. most people -- all of those people are not driving. and also in san francisco, we have a big day with president obama attending the mayors' conference. today will be a special day with traffic. i would advise you to bring your patience and use public transportation if you can. now for the weather, let's go to steve in the studio. steve? sal, can you hear me? >> reporter: yes. >> has anyone brought you coffee for crying out loud?

south carolina's governor says the suspect in the charleston church shooting should face the death penalty. and nbc reports that dylann roof confessed to the crime. the 21-year-old is scheduled to appear in out today. he was arrest -- appear in court today. he was arrested in north carolina yesterday after a woman driving to work spotted him and called police. he's accused of killing six women and three men at a prayer meeting. people who know him say he talked about doing something pause he said blacks were taking over the world. while roof was being hunted down by police, a gospel singer reached out to him on facebook with a message that went viral. it reads in part, if you are still out there and you have your phone with you, give your heart to jesus and confess your sins with a heart of forgiveness. he's the only one that can save your soul. marcus stanley explains why he did it. >> i asked myself what could i do to make a difference?

what could i do in the situation? what could i do to bring some hope? i reached out to him directly instead of putting the post up for my own page. i reached out to him. >> stanley is the victim of gang violence in 2004, he says he was shot eight times after being confronted by gang members. he says it took him a long time but he was able to forgive them. he says that is why he is able to forgive roof. roof is back in south carolina and currently being held at a detention center pending a bond hearing. well, san francisco police searching for two young women who they say stole thousands of dollars in designer sunglasses. now look at this surveillance video. this is from the sun glass hat at the mall on may 19th. you can see the women. they are looking at glass, then slipping them into a bag. police say there were only in the store for about a minute before they walked out. you can see one of the women shove a store employee who tried to stop them from leaving. police say the women appear to

be between 16 and 20 years old. they are about 5'5" weighing about 150 pounds. you have seen the video. if you have any information, call san francisco police. well, pruitt water park in antioch is being investigated right now after more than two dozen children complained about feeling sick. firefighters, paramedics and about 18 ambulances rushed to the park yesterday afternoon. 34 children complained of breathing problems, sore throats and they were coughing. 17 of them were taken to the hospital. a hazmat team was called in to inspect that pool and also where the chemicals were stored. they say the pool samples showed a higher level of chlorine but they say it wasn't high enough to make so many children sick. stop interviewing and transfer everyone. that's the new twist in a staffing tis sput we told you about on monday at a sunnyvale
