beautiful shot there. the low clouds have drifted inland. the marine layer is deeper, now over 1,000 feet or so and the on shore breeze is back with us as well. two tale-tale signs that changes are coming to our area for the afternoon today. let's take a look at storm tracker 2. not tracking any rain out there. we are looking at the low clouds all the way inland this morning. north bay issue south bay and into the east bay along the coastline today. i do not expect them to clear. we will remain mostly cloudy for the coast. the rest of us mostly sunshine into the second half of the morning and into the afternoon. there's the breeze, 28 miles sustained gusting to 30. that will be with us through the entire day. through the delta it could be a little breezy today. 58 degrees in concord, 56 in areas right around oakland low 50s san francisco and 59 expected in mountainview. belmont you're checking in at 58. palo alto,

you're at 58. as we get into the afternoon we're talking about a drop off from 5 to 10 degrees. i'll talk about how long this trend is going to last coming up. >> thank you. a south carolina church has opened its doors for the first time since the mass shooting devastated that congregation and the community last wednesday. you are now looking inside of the sunday services at emmanuel a.m.e church. it is packed this morning. services started about an hour ago. we can bring you live pictures inside and outside that church. it's filled. it's got regular per rigs artitioners as well as people from around the country who have come to show their support. church officials say it is a day of comfort and of healing. they are going to address the emotional pain people are feeling four days after nine people lives were claimed at that church. today's event includes sunday school for

church, prayer services. churches are ringing their bells right now as a show of solidarity. at 9:00 members will surround emmanuel a.m.e to pray. >> this could have been me, this could have been my family, loved ones or whatever. it was just upsetting to see that. >> i feel like i needed to pay respects. those people didn't deserve what happened to them. >> mourners are going to create a unity chain which means they will meet on both sides of the bridge that connects downtown charleston to the city of mount pleasant as a show of unity. >> the fbi is investigating a website and manifesto linked to the suspect dylann roof. it says quote the event that truly awakened me was the trayvon martin case. the website also showed pictures of roof burning an american flag and waving a confederate flag.

>> the deadly church shooting in charleston, south carolina is reigniting the debate over the display and the flying of the confederate flag. hundreds of demonstrators protested outside the south carolina state building yesterday demanding the flag be taken down. state law prohibits the confederate flag from being lowered so lawmakers would have to vote to remove that flag. the sheriff's office is searching for the gunman responsible for a deadly freeway shooting that happened in the pittsburgh area. it happened just before 3:00 on highway 4 near bailey road, not far from the pittsburgh barge station. authorities got 911 calls from people reporting that one in one car fired shots at another vehicle on the highway, causing that second vehicle to crash into the center divide. investigators found bullet holes in that car and the man behind the wheel later pronounced dead. >> because it's such an extended crime scene, about 300

yards we had to walk it. there were casings in the roadway and things that would be destroyed if we let people travel on it. >> two and a half hours sitting in traffic bumper to bumper. people were trying to cut through the traffic. it was just insane. >> traffic was a mess. authorities did have to shut down the eastbound lanes of highway 4 for six hours while they collected evidence at that scene. the sheriff's office did thank drivers for their patience but some of course were frustrated by the gridlock and the delays in that area. a woman was killed after being hit by a caltrain in sunnyvale. it happened around 7:30. about 100 people were on board the train when the woman was hit. none of the passengers were hurt. the woman was the 13th person killed on caltrain tracks this year. vallejo police are investigating whether marijuana use led to a deadly car crash that happened friday. the 65-year-old driver of a nissan versa ran into a sidewalk.

one woman died, three others hurt. police found marijuana in the car and said the driver just left a medical marijuana dispensary. the driver has not been arrested. a special mass will be held in san francisco today for the victims of that deadly balcony collapse in berkeley earlier this week. two of the young people killed were remembered yesterday during a funeral and memorial. heather holmes reports they were cousins who were talented, intelligent women who shared a special bonds. >> [bag pipes playing] >> a loan bag paper whaled as mourners remembered two lives taken too soon. >> today we gather in celebration of life. the life of ashley and olivia. >> the two cousins 22-year-old

ashley and 21-year-old olivia were more like sisters. they were among six people killed when the balcony they were on collapsed during a party. seven others were injured. >> the reverend offered words of comfort to the heartbroken family. >> both of them had a good and promising story and it came to an abrupt and tragic end. >> those in attendance wiped away tears as they looked into stories about the young and ambitious women whose hopes and dreams were dashed by the tragic incident. >> the mother's heads went down and it was pain and emotion. >> father aiden said all of ireland is mourning the loss of the students and praying for the injured. >> everyone is just in unison in the sense of grief. just a national tragedy. >> the sorrow also being felt

in sonova county. ashley graduated and was a star soccer player and a student at state. >> she was such a beautiful person and everything like her energy was so amazing. at a time like this you would need someone like her. >> that was heather holmes reports for us. while the investigation continues into the cause of the collapse it's believed that's dry rock may be to blame. berkeley's mayor said there's a high probability that water exposure weakened the balcony supports. >> the memorial mass for the six victims will be held at 11:00 at saint mary's in san francisco. five victims came from ireland. time now is 7:09. there's a big celebration in the skies over sonoma county over the

weekend. it's the silver anniversary of the hot air balloon classic. ali is live for us in windsor this morning. skies have to be absolutely gorgeous out there ali right? >> reporter: yeah. big celebration, colorful celebration. the timing is just right. you can hear them igniting the burners. this is a privately owned more traditional looking balloon. some people here actually get a hands on opportunity to help the pilot move the balloon over. i guess she's coming towards us. maybe she wants to be interviewed. i do have with us though ted richie the vice president of the hot air balloon festival. what can people come to see and do when they come to the festival? >> we have a few dozen balloons. we have tether drives that people can take for 5 or $10, children and adults.

they can try out a balloon for a few dollars. >> reporter: where are you going? >> we're going to lay it out. >> reporter: so you're going to deflate it? >> yeah. >> reporter: why? >> well, we were going to be doing the patrol but unfortunately because of the over cast skies we aren't able to fly so we stood it on the field and let the crowd come up and ask questions and excite them with the big burn. >> reporter: a little hot air balloon fact. that's about 400 degrees. >> i've never even thought about how hot the flame is. >> reporter: definitely wouldn't want to touch it. >> it puts out 9 million btus. >> reporter: you're the pilot? >> yes. >> reporter: how long have you been doing it? >> about 37 years. >> reporter: what do you love about it?

two and a half hours away to the start of summer. we have a cool down expected for the first day of summer. a look at your temperatures coming up. >> thank you very much. this morning a man hunt is upside way in louisiana to find a man accused of shooting and killing a police officer while he was being taken to jail. the new orleans police department, louisiana state police and the u.s. marshalls service are all searching for 33-year-old travis boys. boys was wearing handcuffs at the time of this shooting but managed to get to the front seat and shoot officer darrell holloway. the car crashed into a utility pole at an intersection and that's when boys took off. >> that prisoner somehow was able to get his hands from behind his back where he was handcuffed. he was handcuffed from the front. apparently he's double jointed and able to do that in the back of the car. >> police do not believe boys used officer darrell holloways

gun in this shooting so they're trying to figure out where the gun came from. he had just been arrested on aggravated assault charges. officer holloway was a 22 year veteran of the police force. >> i've known him for 23 years worked with him in our early years. he was a personal friend of mine, great police officer. >> right now a $10,000 reward is being offered. today is father's day which means big business for retailers. they expect spending for the holiday to hit $13 billion. half after that will be spent on gift cards electronics and clothing. there's a new trend towards another type of father's day present and it's called experience gifts. >> we're actually hearing a lot more about people looking to purchase golf lessons for their dad or the nascar experience to ride in a fast racing car or hot air balloon ride.

right now upper 60s livermore. these numbers similar to yet but not as much sunshine out there this morning. as we get into the afternoon mostly sunny skies, 67 degrees when the a's place. western breeze to 10, maybe 10 -- maybe 15. 77 for nevada, sal lee . to the east bay along the alameda store line, 68 expected, 69 for san leandro mid 70s in castro valley. 75 is a good number for me. as you get inland low 80s danville as well as livermore. 85 for brentwood. that's not bad for the first day of summer. 76 san jose 79 expected for saratoga. santa cruz will clear and 70 in the afternoon. mid 70s for wood side low 70s for san mateo.

earth, wind and fire on a sunday morning. >> perfect to get you day off to a nice start. look at them dancing in the streets. >> they were having a good time yesterday. because they had such a good time oakland is now the proud owner of the world record for the longest soul train. we were live there yesterday as fans started to show up and warm up. the old record was held by philadelphia. it was a soul train line of 298 dancers in 2012. yesterday oakland beat that by 39 people. beating the soul train record was the idea of the center. the group is trying to come up with activities at the park for low income people. yesterday's event was also a fundraiser for

local children to go to a 5-week camp. bay area cat lovers are getting excited for san francisco's first cafe. kit tea's first day will be june 24th. up to 15 cats at a time from give me shelter will be featured at the justice -- japanese tea house. oakland has a similar set up. it was the first cafe in both in bay area and the nation. speaking of kittens a kitten who was abandoned on a bridge in oregon now has a second chance at life thanks to a god samaritan. here's lucky the kitten. zach wilson said he was walking across the bridge when he heard her cries and immediately dialled 911. >> i was just walking across the saint john's bridge and

plans are being delayed due to money concerns and a dispute over territorial rights because in the south bay that dispute is happening in the south bay between the as and giants. >> my stance on the as is that i think it's crucial that the as get a new facility. i remain committed to the idea that oakland should be our first preference. >> a report on building a major development at the coliseum site is due out today. the coliseum city proposal would include retail, housing and sports complexes for the raiders, as and potentially the warriors. oakland city council members tell the bay area news group they received a sneak preview of the report several days ago. the raiders will have a knew months to review the financing details before the next nfl owners meeting in august. the developer spearheading the project say if the raiders don't move to southern california the earlier it could be -- the earliest it could be

we have great weather coming up. if you like the heat sorry, it's going to go, at least temporarily. we have a live look over the east bay where the clouds rolling in, areas that had sunshine yesterday now waking up with low cloud cover. our temperatures coming down especially for the inland areas. i'm talking five, even 10 degrees so should be a notable drop. areas like livermore reached into the low 90s yesterday. today you'll go into the low 80s. so peaked on saturday, temperatures falling off today. will be similar tomorrow. some of us may see just a bit more cooling but that should really be about it. the bigger drop is going to come as we get into sunday afternoon. temperatures right now 58 degrees in concord. 56 in oakland. 53 san francisco. low 50s in novato. santa rosa, napa, the delta breeze is blowing. through fairfield, gusts near 30. that breeze is going to stick

truck driver pulls a double back flip with a truck that weighs, yes, 10,000 pounds. it happened during monster jam at gillette stadium in massachusetts. he tried the trick to years ago and only landed it with the help of a lucky tire bounce. yesterday's landing considered clean. catch monster jam july 12th and 19th on fox sports. an appearance by kim kardashian on a national public radio show angered some listeners. npr said it received hundreds of complaints about last week's episode featuring kardashian. she was in a segment called "not my job" in which she answered questions about north korean leader kim jong un.

it happened on april 15, 2013. the boston marathon ended with two explosions at the finish line. three people killed, dozens more injured but despite the tragedy the city, the athletes and thousands of people rallied together to prepare for the following year. i was in boston one year after the bombing, the spirit was containingious, people say

balloon classic. can you guess where i am standing now? >> inside a balloon? >> reporter: there you go. i'm in the actual balloon. it's called the envelope. the part that inflates. last hit i was in the basket. >> doesn't damage the balloon to stand on it? >> reporter: this is a retired hot air balloon. they have this out as a sample. an example for people to come, check it out, see what it looks like inside. you can see it's popular with the kids and toddlers, like a giant play mat for them. this is part of the process of inflating a hot air balloon. they -- use a fan and they blow cold air into it and that is where you see the balloons starting to inflate. they kind of get -- they blow up a little on the ground. this big semicircle on the ground. then they add more hot air and then the whole thing goes up. it's interesting for folks to see. when they come out.

ted richie is with the organization. what other stuff can people do when they come here today? >> see balloons, take great photos. get inside this envelope and jump around and check out the colors. we have a few tethered rides. we have some food vendors and whatnot to check out. it's a fun day whether the weather is gorgeous or overcast. we do our best to make everyone happy. >> there's a lot of hands on activities too. did i explain the process right? you kind of told me ahead of time what -- how you inflate a balloon. how is this in the process of getting a balloon off the ground? >> once they hook this envelope to the basket and it's secure they will get a gas of had powered fan and -- gas powered fan and get as much as they can into this. the burners get inflated, the balloon lifts and you will soon be off the ground. >> reporter: a lot of conditions have to be right, especially weather conditions.

to help put out the flames. the fire scorched 25 square miles and threatening 400 homes and cabins. people have been evacuated but so far no buildings destroyed. fire crews are facing 90-degree temperatures and low humidity today. we just checked and the fire is now 15% contained. more than a dozen female inmates are working alongside firefighters to put out a brush fire near a rural arizona community. the 18 women arrived on scene the day the fire began and have been working for three days to protect homes and stop the fire. the women make up the perryville wildland fire crew and say they are treated as firefighters, not prisoners while working. they have completed the same certification programs the other firefighters have. >> we are a close bunch. we all want to succeed when we get out and a lot of us want to do this web we get out. it's a great opportunity, i'm grateful for it. >> the perryville wildland fire

oakland is now the proud owner of the world record for the longest soul train. they look good out there. they were live yesterday morning as dancers showed up in oakland. the old record was held by philadelphia where there was a soul train line of 298 dancers in 2012. yesterday, oakland blew that out of the water, beat it by 39 people. they beat that soul train record and beating this record was the idea of a group trying to come up with activities for the park for low income families. yesterday was a fund raiser for local children to go to a five week camp. april 15, 2013, we can't forget, boston marathon ended with two explosions at the finish line. three were killed and dozens more injured. despite the tragedy the city,

athletes, and thousands rallied together. really the entire country came together that following year. i was in boston during the 2014 marathon one year after the bombing. the spirit, energy and all of it was contagious as people said running the race brought them to tears. for one woman from walnut creek the race became one of the biggest days of her life. >> we met them just yards from the finish line, john and his parents had come to boston from walnut creek to watch john's girlfriend april run the marathon. they had come for something else too. >> i am getting engaged to my girlfriend at the finish line. >> if she says yes. >> we waited patient hi clocking each mile until she crossed the line. she still had no idea although we did try to blend in. >> we met up with channel 2. >> reporter: security made it tough. we caught up a half mile later but she was over come with emotions from the race.

the first time i had ever done it. it was surprisingly very calm. these are one of the three balloons you can get in at the sonoma county hot air balloon classic. they're tettered balloons so it's a bit more controlled than just being out in the open skies. i am with mr. lapoint, hot air balloon pilot. you have been doing this for 33 years. you have been all over the world doing this. >> i have done some european trips and asian trips. now we are going to hit the ground. >> very exciting there. you guys are first time riders. what do you think so far? >> it's high. it's a little weird. >> it does definitely feel like you are floating. it's almost like being under water. what do you think? >> other than the tetters, i

feel like it would be out of control but i guess if you have been doing it for longer than my life, i think you will be all right. >> it is all knowing when to give the heat to it. the balloon is nothing but a bag holding hot air. >> that's what freaks me out. >> it's lifting now about 1800 pounds. >> gosh. >> i am not saying you are heavy. i am saying by the time we add the basket and the balloons, we are about 1800 pounds. >> too bad they couldn't get more balloons up today because of the fog. you are kind of at the mercy of the elements. >> correct. the reason we didn't get it going this morning and stuff is because the upper level atmosphere and stuff is a little bit dense. that's what makes the fog. we also had wind. >> luckily the tettered balloon rides are still going out here this afternoon. sonoma county hot air balloon

classic. this is the 25th year they have done that. they will be open for a couple more hours. they'll have these tettered rides as long as the weather permits. it's $10 for adults and $5 for kids. there are quite a few people in line. this is the main attraction out here. >> it's good to know there is another option if you have the gray skies and folks can still get in the air. that's great. thanks. dozens of people showed up for the 150th anniversary of mountain view cemetery. a new orleans jazz band was on hand yesterday and volunteers were there as well in civil war era costumes. they explained the unique history of the cemetery. mountain view cemetery was founded in piedmont oakland hills ten days after american civil war ended. it was designed by the architect who designed new york national park and the national mall in washington, dc. >> on the map he calls it a

cemetery for the metropolis of san francisco to be located in the suburbs of oakland and berkeley. flash forward 150 years later, we are in the middle of the metropolis. >> the anniversary celebration was held in part of the 220- acre cemetery that's known as millionaires row. some of the famous people buried there include architect julia morgan, samuel merit. the coastguard is interviewing owner of a 40-foot boat that sank part way. it leaked a small amount of oil into the bay. the coastguard talked with the person who reported spilling diesel fumes near the boat early yesterday. it took almost six hours to stop the oil leak. the coastguard says the area is not considered environmentally sensitive and oil was cleaned up by noon. here is a picture of the partially submerged boat. about five gallons of fuel was recovered and there is no sign now of any leak.

clean up work continues one month after the major oil spill in santa barbara. crews have been making progress but there is no timetable for when the clean up will be finished. a ruptured pipeline spilled up to 100,000 gallons. the national conference of mayors continues today in san francisco with the city's current mayor ed lee and former mayor and now lieutenant governor as keynote speakers. they'll address topics of tech no the gee and innovation. yesterday hillary clinton was there to talk about gun violence. she focused on the south carolina church shooting and said something must be done to keep guns out of the hands of people who have hearts filled with hate. >> i know that gun ownership is part of the fabric of a lot of law abiding communities. but i also know that we can have common sense gun reforms

that keep weapons out of the hands of criminals. >> mayors from across the country says this conference gives them a chance to hear ideas that have worked in other communities. they say they can bring home ideas that are most likely to work in their cities and make the country a better place. the conference runs through tomorrow. cab drivers are protesting the mayor's conference because of its ties with ride share companies. uber and lyft are among sponsors of the conference. a taxi drivers group demonstrated outside the conference yesterday and planned to hold a protest tomorrow at uber headquarters in san francisco. a group of mayors is scheduled to tour uber's facility as well. green is basking in the attention of being nba champion after enjoying friday's parade and rally with the team. green is going to take part in another parade that will just be for him. his hometown of saginaw michigan is throwing him a victory bash. it will be a busy week. starting wednesday he will host

a free basketball camp for children. the parade will be saturday afternoon and for adults, he is going to host a championship party saturday night. it starts at 9:00 at night and is expected to run until 2:00 sunday morning. friday's vick reid parade was a big win for bart. the transit agency announced there were 551,000 riders making it the second busiest day in history. the largest single day was when san francisco giants celebrated their second world series championship. 2010 giants parade ranks as the third busiest day ever for bart. a report on building a major development at the colosseum site is due today. the colosseum city proposal would include retail, housing, sports complexes for the raiders, a's, and warriors. oakland city council members tell bay area news group they received a sneak preview of this report several days ago. raiders will have a few months

to review financing details. the developer spearheading the project say if the raiders don't move to southern california, a new stadium could be potentially built in oakland in 2020. controversy involving kim kardashian and npr. what she was part of that has some threatening to stop supporting the station. a family shocked to have a family heirloom returned to them nearly 100 years after it was lost in a historic disaster.

he said he had a pocket watch engraved with their father's name. their father was aboard uss san diego when it hit a mine off the coast of new york and sank. their father was rescued but his watch which had been passed from his father and grandfather, the watch went down with the ship. the diver says he found the watch more than 30 years ago but it took this long to find the family it belonged to. northern california verses southern california in baseball. giants are going for the sweep against the dodgers. a two run home run in the fifth yesterday and brandon belt went deep in the 6th. giants beat l.a. let's watch it. see ya. giants have won nine of 11 games this season against the dodgers. let's talk about the a's. they can win against the angels with a victory this afternoon. the starter threw 7 and 2/3 innings just giving up a single run to one of the more potent

lineups in baseball. a's did well smacking three doubles in the 6th and went onto a 4-1 victory. canseco is once again swinging for the fences in the area. he did retire with 462 home runs. tuesday he will begin a three day set for an independent minor league team the pittsburgh diamonds. he will participate in home run derby thursday. he recently played with sonoma stompers and hit a home run for him. having a way with food popular we judges at the alameda county fair. he won a smack down competition with deep fried wood fired pastrami pizza. it's made with mozzarella cheese, pastrami, sour category 2, mustard sauce won the title.
