of travis, and 20 out of the south in concord. temperatures will be slow to recover after yesterday's cool down. morning fog, sunny and nice for some. cool for others low mid-80s for some. 60s, 70s, coast and bay. all righty, sal, on a monday morning, is everything okay here. >> yeah, things are okay. there's a little bit of slow traffic. we don't have a lot of crashes to report which is good. let's take a look now at the commute. as you can see on the bay bridge toll plaza approach, there's a little bit of waiting to do. it's backed up to the foot of the mcarthur maize. those metering lights are on. they come on a half hour ago. the bridge looks good into san francisco. there are no major problems, and that traffic is okay. we have slow traffic in livermore, or at least getting to it from the altamont pass. highway 205 is backed up this morning. a lot of people coming from the central valley. 680 beginning to get slow as you drive out of pleasanton,

and head down fremont. at 6:01. let's go back to the desk. now to the developing news in san jose. police in the 9th hour of a bizarre standoff. a man broke into a construction site at city hall, climbed a train and is refused to come down. tara moriarty joins us now from the scene with new information. tara. police obviously have been trying to coax the man down. they did have the streets blocked off. there are two men on scene. not sure if they're family, friends or construction workers, but they have been talking to police, and just look how high this man climbed, that is 9 stories. and a witness saw them climbing up that crane at 8:30 last night: called 911, there is a white plastic bag he appears to have pressed against the window of the cab. it's not clear why he went up

there. witnesses say he appears to be intoxicated. >> he's yelling down when he can. >> officers say they are going to sit and wait this out. again, 6th street between santa clara and st. john, now open, not sure if this is a tactic officers are using, are reverse psychology, we will keep you posted when everything is clear. emanuel church in south carolina opened its doors days after a gunman killed the pastor, and 8 other church members. the historic black church embraced strangers yesterday who walked in and tuned in from home for the first worship service from wednesday's mass

shooting. >> many of the family members of the deceased, and so we came here simply because we wanted to support them. >> right now, our differences are placed aside, and we're united. we're one. >> the man accused in shooting 21-year-old dyllan roof remains behind bars. thousands formed a human bridge to peace unity chain last night in charleston. that happen event was designed to honor the nine victims of wednesday's shooting by bringing together people of all walks of life who are opposed to hate crimes. that event capped off a day of worship. churches across the city rang church bells in a show of solidarity and support. hillary clinton is speaking out against what he calls institutionized racism here in america. during a speech in san francisco, saturday, the presidential candidate told the crowd that our problem is not all cooks and clansman.

clinton says she believes race remains quote a deep fault line in medical -- america. and echoed president obama's call for common sense gun reform. anticipation all over the country, the supreme court could rule as early as 6:30 this morning on same-sex marriage. the high court's decision involving state bans on same- sex marriage. first the court has to decide if individual states should be allowed to ban same-sex marriage. if it rules that states can ban same-sex marriage, then the court has to decide if those states have to recognize same- sex marriages performed in other states. >> this however, is truly historic if the supreme court decides to do away with all bans on same-sex marriage. this is a truly historic moment in the march toward full equality for all american citizens. >> now, all of this comes as san francisco is celebrating

pride week. capped off by the parade on sunday. organizers in san francisco, they're planning a decision day rally at 18th street in castro, at 6:00, the evening of the ruling, however that decision goes. a high school in san francisco will be offering an lgbt studies class next fall. the class at the school of the arts is the first in san francisco to focus entirely on the history, struggles and achievements of the lgbt community. and that class will cover the history of gay leaders, including san francisco's supervisor harvey milk. it will also look at the aids pandemic of the 1980s. students will take a field trip to san francisco's glbt history museum. crews continue to fight a wildfire in san bernardino county. it started on wednesday, about 90 miles east of los angeles. more than 17,000 acres have burned so far. the fire is just 19% contained, and the cause is still under

investigation. firefighters in medera county hope the sky fire will be contained. that fire is threatening at least 200 homes and buildings and is only 40% contained. investigators believe that fire was sparked by a car on thursday. time now 6:06. happening today, cab drivers set the stage to protest right outside. uber along with lift are among the sponsors of the annual mayor's conference, in san francisco. cab drivers are accusing the ride sharing companies of buying off the mayors. they also say that uber and lift carry inadequate insurance. they don't conduct a thorough background check of their drivers and they pay their drivers low wages. at least one mayor, paul saugland of madison, wisconsin, agrees with that. he plans to skip the tour of

uber today. uber says it is taking steps to increase riders safety by adopting a no gun policy. that means neither drivers or passengers can carry a gun of any kind inside of an uber car. now, that policy change was prompted by feed back from users and by drivers. lift, by the way, already has a strict, no weapons ban in place. a southern california, high school, track coach was arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography after he left his ipad in a rental car. an employee in the rental car business found the ipad which contained photos of naked girls under the age of 15. raymond henry was arrested on friday. he works at the trabuco girls high school. and is due in court tomorrow. time is 6:08. parents of a south bay elementary school plan a big protest against dramatic staffing changes. almost all the teachers at west

valley elementary in sunnyvale will be transferred to other schools in the district. originally, west valley teachers were told they had to re-apply for their jobs, and some of them would be left in place after what he was described as a lot of tension in the school. the school district and teachers union decided that would be unfair, so now the plan is to transfer almost all of the teachers to other schools. the parents will be holding a rally at the school tonight demanding that the teachers be left right there at west valley. 6:09. paying tribute to 6 young people who los angeles their lives in the berkeley balcony collapse. coming up at 6:30, the emotional service as families prepare to bury their sons and daughters in ireland. up next, an effort to build a new sports complex in oakland, the new deadline facing a development group today. and we're looking at traffic that is bound for marin, westbound 580 still looks good at the richmond san rafael toll plaza, headed over

welcome back to mornings ongoing 2. we're following developing news, coming from afghanistan. taliban fighters launch an

attack outside the afghan parliament building in kabul. a large car bomb exploded near the outer wall of the parliament compound. lawmakers were meeting inside at the time. six taliban fighters then tried to storm inside. afghan security forces fought them off, killing all six of them. that explosion shattered gas in the parliament building. no one inside was hurt. more than 30 people outside the building, they were hurt in that attack. people trying to access instagram in north korea are getting a warning that the site has been blocked due to harmful content. internet service highly restricted in north korea. some people who have rare access to mobile phones can get online, as well as foreign visitors. right now it's not clear where the blockage is coming from. there's speculation, it could be linked to photos leaked from a fire at a luxury hotel, which was never reported. instagram owned by facebook has

no comment yet. reports from fremont, a flasher may be on the louis. the mercury news reports there were two incidents last week of a flasher in the city's brook brookvale neighborhood. two days later, another woman says a man in a parked car exposed himself. that car described as a white two door 1990s honda civic. that man described as latino in his 20s, he was unshaven and he has a buds cut. -- buzz cut. today a development group has until today to lay out details of how it plans to finance a new stadium that would be built next to the current coliseum. the coliseum city plans suggests having football, baseball, and basketball venues as well as housing, retail, and office space. a zone, lou wolf made it clear he does not want to share the

location, and baseball commissioner, rob manson says the a's will not play at the sate. the san francisco 49ers of course have their new stadium in san that clara -- santa clara. the mercury news reports team executives spent more than $11,000 to help elect mayor and two of the 6 city council members as the team is asking for city approval to take over property near the stadium. the 49ers say they are doing what many local businesses are doing, supporting candidates open to their ideas. today is the last day of the muni challenge, the 22 day event where the mayor, ed leigh, and board supervisors have been riding muni every day. it will help them make informed decisions about transit, and

they have a policy that requires city leaders to ride public transit at least twice a week. 6:15 is the time. speaking of public transit, let's check in with sal on the commute. pam, dave, we don't have any major problems now. when it comes to public transportation or with the commute, we do have some slow traffic out there. we can go to the live picture. i'll show you the east shore freeway from the carcinas bridge to the maze taking about 20 minutes, still not too bad to drive the ledge. average speed about 57 miles per hour, and when you get to the bay bridge toll plaza, you will see that traffic does move okay. it's a little bit slow as it normally is. it's not out of the ordinary. that's for sure. so kind of a typical commute getting into san francisco. we are looking at the santa clara valley now with our map system. 101, 288, 85 off to a decent start. usually they get started a little bit later. obviously we'll keep an eye on it for you. 6:16. let's go to steve in the

weather center. thank you, sir. pretty good following bank and a decent -- fog bank, and a decent breeze. coast and bay doesn't change that much. too much gray over the bay, as we like to say, and that fog bank continues to enhance some of the cold itself water temps, from bodega bay to monterey. good morning, she says, a delicious, 49 now. and only got to 88 yesterday. didn't even use the ac for the first day of summer. that's impressive from middletown to lake county. i would have that ac standing by, wednesday, thursday, you might need it. 54 in san francisco to start. 60, 64 for a high. still running below average. oakland downtown, we'll bump you up a little bit. 72 downtown. 68, 67 closer to the airport. this is too much fog and continues to work its way up and down the coast. a couple he or she and a lot of 50s -- 40s and a lot of 50s.

welcome back to mornings on 2. it's 6:22. google has a policy to crack down on revenge porn. within the next few weeks, people can submit a form, asking the search engine to remove nude or sexually explicit images from search results. google says it will treat it as highly personal information, such as bank account information and social security numbers. 6:23, the faceoff between taylor swift and apple music is over. apple music says it will pay artists, writer and producers for its music, even during a three month trial period for

the seeming service. taylor swift threatened to keep her album off the service. she even posted to open later you're looking at to apple saying we don't ask you for free iphones, please don't ask us to provide you our music for no compensation. an apple executive tweeted out, we hear you taylor swift, and independent artists, swift said she was relieved and wasn't speaking just for herself but also for new artists. the dinosaurs are ruling the movie world again this week. do this my way. >> jurassic world remained the number one movie at the weekend box office, earned $100 million, the second highest take for any movie's second highest week. avengers has been better. jurassic world set an opening weekend record last week.

not far behind, though, inside out nearly matched dinosaurs, the emeryville studio earned more than $91 million for this movie about the emotions inside a young girl's head. that was far above expectations, the best opening for any movie that was not a sequel or based on another source of material like a book or song. it was the first movie not to open in affairs place. one -- first place. later today, warriors fans, you have a chance to meet harrison barnes in san francisco. this morning at 10:00, when the macy's and union square opens, the first 250 customers to spend $35 or more on specific licensed merchandise will get a wristband that will let them meet harrison barnes at 5:00 tonight. the harrison barnes scored a combined 53 points in the nba finals, including 8 3-pointers and then he had this dunk over lebron. right there.

have a holiday bump. we move the maps to highway 4. we have slow traffic in bay point, concord, 680 looks good. at the bay bridge toll plaza, traffic is moving along okay, as we head out toward the mcarthur maze. westbound 80 at west texas street in fairfield. there is a 7-car crash blocking lanes. that one just came in just a few moments ago in solano county. we're going to follow up on that and have more on the next updates back to the desk. we're keeping an eye on what's happening in san jose. a police stand off that lasts about ten hours. a man was holed up in a crane near city hall, and would not come down. tara moriarty joining us live now from the scene. so what's happening now, how are the police responding. >> police originally were yelling up to him on a bull horn. i haven't heard them do that lately, and all the streets around the construction site

have been opened, and you can see the man still up in the top of the crane, nine stories high. he's apparently at last report singing up there. a witness saw the man climbing the crane around 8:30, and called 911. police have not identified him. it's not clear why he climbed up the train. but police say he does appear to be intoxicant -- intoxicated. >> his sobriety is in question. that's what we know at this point. >> reporter: officers say they're going to sit and wait this out, but once again, 6th 6th street between santa clara and st. john is now open. live from san jose, i'm tara moriarty back to you. >> thank you. time is 6:33. new this morning, police in vallejo want your help after a deadly shooting early this morning. police were called to sonoma boulevard and indiana street about 1:00 this morning. they found a 32-year-old man. he was still alive. but he died after he was rushed

to the hospital. his name has not been released until his family is notified. police out there looking for evidence at the crime scene, but they want anyone who may have seen or heard anything, call investigators either directly or you can use the anonymous solano crime stoppers program. we have an update now on the deadly balcony collapse in berkeley. there's a new report that a contractor had to rebuild balconies on a complex on the peninsula due to water damage. the cause has not been released but many suspect dry rot from water damage getting into the wood was a factor. the chronicle reports segue construction, and a water proofing subcontractor were sued after a balconies were destroyed by dry rot three years after construction. according to the paper, segue settled out of court for $3.5 million. a sunday mass at st. mary's cathedral in san francisco paid

tribute to those killed and injured in that collapse. five irish students one from the bay area died when the balcony they were standing on suddenly collapsed last tuesday. 7 more people who were injured in the collapse remain in the hospital as of this weekend, that's according to the irish consulate. >> somebody said to me today, how are you, i would say my heart is broken. broken for the suffering of these families over the past week. >> the last of the victims' families returned home to ireland last night. now, those grieving families are preparing for funeral services this week. the bodies of four of the irish students arrived in ireland yesterday, the first is expected to take place tomorrow. the body of the 5th student will arrive in ireland today. time is now 6:35 a. san

francisco art gallery reaching out this morning. its new mural was vandalized for a second time within days. ktvu fox news brian flores joins us live from the mission district and why the gallery thinks they were targeted. >> the mural on 24th and bryant was meant to promote tolerance and understanding, but days before pride weekend, the mural was defaced, vandalized a second time in a week. want to go to pictures of the damaged mural on the gallery's facebook page, you can see a vandal spray painted over the depictions of the lesbians and gay couples and a transgenderman. the latest incident is believed to have happened on saturday. the gallery, and artists say they have received derogatory comments and threats, and homophobic hate speech, and this was first unveiled two fridays ago and was defaced the

following monday. volunteers spent thursday cleaning it up. it was defaced this past saturday. it remains unclear who is responsible but this is being reported as a hate crime. the gallery is asking for donations to replace the mural. we have a link on our web site ktvu.com. as you can see $surveillance cameras pointed in the direction of the mural. it's been reported that the footage has been turned into police. we hope to have an update sometime later this morning. back to you. >> brian flores in san francisco, thank you. time is now 6:37. psychiatric tests are being conducted on a b.a.r.t. rider who reportedly threatened to blow up a b.a.r.t. train. police say a passenger on a train over heard that person talking about explosives, the passenger called b.a.r.t. police, that rider was taken into custody at the 16th 16th street mission station. the san francisco politics brought in a bomb sniffing dog to check out the train car, but nothing suspicious was found.

a northern california dog owner is making a dying wish that his dog finds a good home. 62-year-old army veteran, tristan kurr is battling stage four cancer. the san francisco man was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer in march and was given two months to a year to live. he hopes to find a good home for his dog cane. the and calm and loving doberman pincher, also a service dog. he would love to repay cane by finding him a new home. >> i have a terminal illness, and i don't have much time left, and it's very important for me to know that he's going to have a good home. >> curr says cane is in great health. he gets along with people and other pets and enjoys walks in the parks, and he says the perfect person to adopt him should have a lot of free time, someone who is retired and

. welcome back to mornings on 2. it's 6:42 and we will be closely following the supreme court this week. the justices are expected to issue their ruling to decide once and for all, whether states can ban same-sex marriage. ktvu paul chambers is in san francisco this morning where the ruling could come down right in the middle of the city's pride week. paul. >> reporter: this is pride week in san francisco. there's a lot at stake. the united states supreme court decision on same-sex marriage could have a negative or

positive effect on this week's celebration. >> right now, legally, the country is divided into marriages haves and have notes, that's what we need the supreme court to decide once and for all. >> reporter: people all across the country are waiting to see how the nation's highest court will rule on the two cases dealing with the 14th 14th amendment, which addresses a person's right and equal protection under the law. it will decide whether the state should be required to issue marriage licenses and whether they should be forced to recognize same-sex marriages in another state. some conservatives say recognizing same-sex marriage is morally wrong and against the religious freedoms. and others say a decision allowing same-sex couples to mare is overdue. same-sex couples are suing areas, relocated, and some questions should same-sex marriage couples have the rights as opposite section couples, insteading tax

benefits, hospital visitation, michigan, ohio, kentucky, tennessee, and they claim it should be the state's right to define marriage. again, it's unclear when the ruling should come down. if it is sometime during pride week, it could determine the size of the crowd to rally no matter the outcome. >> most of the visitors will be coming later in the week. it might be just a local crowd. it might be quite an event. we don't know what to expect. >> reporter: now, the justices are expected to vote along party lines on same-sex marriage, however conservative justice anthony kennedy is a swing vote, and has a history of backing gay rights. no matter what happens, the day the ruling comes out, there will be a rally here at 6:00 p.m. in the castro. there's a question i put on twitter, hit me up @ paul chambers tv. should it be the supreme court, the people or the states, who should decide this? >> it's a good question. we'll bage to hear the responses -- we'll be anxious to hear the responses.

thanks paul. after an intense 24 hour man hunt, the man accused of fatally shooting a new orleans police officer is now in custody. travis bois was arrested saturday for aggravated assault on a woman with a gun. officials say while he was in the police vehicle, he somehow managed to shoot officer daryl holloway in the head. an officer spotted bois the following day trying to board a city bus. he was still wearing the handcuffs. police are trying to determine how he got the gun used in the shooting. >> the .38 caliber, used, and a .40 caliber weapon, a smith and wesen, believed to be used in the heinous crime. >> investigators say officer holloway's gun was in its holster, and had not been used. 22-year veteran least behind two children. police are not sure if bois had any help in their escape.

two convicted killers who broke out of a new york prison more than two weeks, a witness reportedly spotted david sweat and richard matt near train tracks in the small town of friendship new york north of pennsylvania. the two have been on the run since june 6th. that's when they used power tools to break out of the clinton correctional facility in upstate new york. >> we interviewed the witness at length, and the determination was made that this investigation lead should be investigated. approximately 300 members of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies were brought in for the search. >> the u.s. marshal service has put matt and sweat on its list of the most wanted fugitives. a $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to their capture. dave, guess what. >> what. >> it's time. >> it's time to check in, in our newsroom, joining us on mornings on two. i know i said your name right. >> you said it perfectly. >> not as well as you say it.

airport, it's not a bad commute, and looking at the bay bridge, there is a back up, 15 to 20 minutes, before you make it onto the span and head into san francisco. fairfield, there's a crash. it was several cars. fortunately it's been moved to the shoulder. however, traffic is going to be slow coming through fairfield. this is a slow down you're not expecting. so if this is your commute, you need an extra ten or fifteen minutes to stay on schedule. decent fog bank there, except for parts of the santa cruz coast. it looks like there's fog hugging almost all of the coast. some over the bay, and some inland. i have seen bigger surges, it's decent. retreat back to the coast. temperatures will stay in the 50s and 60s. inland i think we'll bump it up a little bit. there is a lot of low clouds, except right there. looks like santa cruz northward for a while. that's about all i can find. upper 40s, 50s. and even at the napa airport.

welcome back to mornings on 2. certainly teams in new mexico have now found the body of former white house chef walter shief. he disappeared after going hiking in the mountains on june 13th, and he never came back. he was reported missing the following day. the sate police and volunteers have been looking for him since wednesday. his body was found late last night off a trail. no cause of death has been announced as of yet. shibe served as the white house executive chef under president bill clinton, and george bush from 1994 to 2005. an investigation is underway in las vegas after a person attending a huge electronic dance festival over the weekend died. police say the person who died was a 24-year-old man.

he was among 135,000 people who attended the edc, which ended early this morning. now, police say the festival took place in record breaking heat out there. and that led to hundreds of medical calls. police also report 26 felony drug related arrests and 10 demeanor arrests. caltrans and the chp are tracking down on drivers for freeway jumpers. for many years, drivers would use that exit off eastbound interstate 580 and use the on camp to get back on ahead of other drivers. since january, there's been a sign at the end of the off ramp saying left lane only. now there's frequently a chp officer there to enforce the sign. caltrans says it has not received complaints about the sign, and that it is looking at ways to add another lane to ease congestion. the drought is really having a major impact on summer recreation at folsom lake. the water out there is now so low, boaters, who rent slips at the marina, they had to take

them out this weekend. now, in normal years, the boats could stay docked well into september. but the water is so low, at 414 feet, the owners couldn't leave the boats in the water. i'm going to really miss coming out and taking the kids, and wake boarding and enjoying the afternoons, and i guess have to find another hobby for the rest of the summer. >> once the water level falls below 400 feet, the speed limit for boats will drop to 5 miles an hour. that's too slow for water skying. the people are hoping the water levels won't affect their 4th of july plans. part of president obama's trip to california last week landed him right in the middle of california's water use debate. here's the president arriving in palm springs on saturday before playing a round of golf. the lush green courses in the area, they're watered by a depleted colorado river and an

underground aquifer that's drying up. the natural resources defense council says the golf courses have to do a lot more to reduce water consumption and switch to more sustainable water resources. well, ten months after the 6.0 earthquake in napa, repairs are being made. the city's latest focus, streets that were damaged by water mains that burst during the quake, there are 163 locations where crews need to restore the pavement and make permanent repairs. the city will spend more than $400,000 on the project. most of the cost will be covered by fema, and the state office of emergency services. time is 6:56. he's 21 years old, golfer jordan spieth won his second straight major golf tournament after a wild finish at the u.s. open.
