the 10:00 news on ktvu fox 2 starts now. from the air and on the ground firefighters work to contain a brush fire that grew too 500 acres this afternoon and threatened home.

>> firefighters have made significant progress tonight on a brush fire that burned in the hills above antioch. burning through dry grass near contra loma regional park. and close enough to some homes that people needed to evacuate. ken is live. >> reporter: this is the neighborhood along silver auto drive that bucks up against the vast area of wilderness and grasslands here and the fire burned just down to the edge of this neighborhood. associately things have turned back to normal but you see some red flashing lights. those are fire trucks in very, very steep terrain. it's hard to pang how thigh got the trucks up there. but they're working hot spots and a good chance they will be here all nigh. this was one of those fires first report as a 4-acre blaze. >> with the winds and the winds
