it's been a weekend of celebration here in the bay area and across the country. pride festivities have been in full swing continuing with the annual pride parade. mornings on 2 starts right now. and good morning to you. this morning we are live. you are taking a look at pier 54. you can see the floats getting ready for the pride parade. they are going to head down to the starting point very soon.

alley is with the float giving us a peek before she heads over to the parade herself. she's going to joining us in minutes. good morning. >> let's start with a look at how the rest of the week is shaping up because pride going on there. how is it going to be this morning? >> it's not going to be bad. stepping outside this morning a lot of 60s to start the day and even a few sprinkles. let's take a live look outside and you can see wow look at that shot pretty ominous from there. what a beautiful glow. the sun is up and shining. partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies at the moment breaking away to partly cloudy skies mostly sunny for the afternoon and i turned on the radar because look at this plume of moisture moving out of here but in the overnight hours a few sprinkles reported here and

there. waking up with a wet roadway shoot me a tweet or facebook. right around clear lake a possibility with few scattered showers here. our morning producer had a few sprinkles on her wind shield. five degrees in fairfield and around the bay areas you are up by a tad, mountain view by three degrees or so. temperatures slightly warmer. going to be another nice day in san francisco. a look at the parade forecast as well as highs in the area and extended forecast as early as tomorrow. the heat is back on. more on that coming up in just a little bit. >> thanks. after historic weeks for gay rights a street with san francisco will fill with thousands attending the annual

parade. the pride parade is known for it's free spirits celebration and the barb included music and dancing on the street where the san francisco gay rights movement celebrated the friday decision legalizing same sex marriage nationwide. >> it's so beautiful that i get to relish and enjoy the hard work for people who fought so hard for me to join marriage equality and to be able to celebrate in peace and not worry. >> the party was free but donations were taken to help local lgbt groups. many floats are designed to show the diversity of the bay area. with a sneak peek we'll head over to ally at the water front where the floats are being stored until parade time. ally give us a look. >> let's give you a look around before the floats head off to market and beal street the stage area where the parade

starts and see that this time that facebook float and a number of different companies out here that have floats in the pride parade. this is walmarts right here and the only one that isn't part of- -associated with a company or association. this is glide memorial church and their float is completely done because haven't seen anyone out here doing last minute touch ups or tapering or hammering or what not. heading a little further down here there's one from the casino and over here is auto desk floats and a number of companies here have floats in the pride parade for the first time including auto. they want to make sure people know they support pride weekend and when we talked to the manager at auto desk over here to turn the camera around she was explaining to us a group of people who wanted to have a

float in the parade formed the committee and had a float building party. the design is supposed to represent the hills of san francisco and the rainbow colored tube thing is supposed to represent the fog and have confetti come out of the mountains but as part of the process of building and creating the float they flew employees in from their offices all over the world to take part in this weekend's pride festivities. >> we flew in this couple from rockingham mania to come in to march with us and it's not accepted there. they flew in and ended up getting engaged this weekend on golden gate bridge so it's a really special time for us. >> and the float builders out here are obviously very busy hard at work building these 30 or so floats going to be in the parade for the last couple of months and we got some information from the main float

builder in terms of the amount of materials they had to use. 10 truck loads of foam 500- gallons of paint and 500-pounds of glitter. it starts at 10:30 and you can see the floats are making their way over there right now. we'll check in with you later. >> sounds good. thank you so much ally. expect security to be tight at the parade especially in the wake of a shooting in the plaza last night. cell phone video shared on instagram captured the moments leading up to the gunfire. just after 6 last night there was an argument between a group of men not involved in the pride celebration. someone came out a weapon and struck a 60-year-old vendor. >> we heard a bunch of shots and another guy with guns and a

lot of people running. >> now officers recovered a semi automatic gun and obtained six people. the man shot is listed in stable condition dollars. we heard three or four gunshots and everybody ducked down and there were two cops with their guns out and a lot of commotion. >> now investigators including the gang task force were all sent to the scene. police stressed the shooting was not related to the pride festival itself but stemming from an incident two years ago. urging people to take public transit to the parade and being rerouted along market street and the civic center. bart is expecting many more riders today running more and longer trains similar to a regular week day commute. cal train is offering service to san francisco along with

four baby bullet express trains. and the ferry adding an early morning run leaving at 845, oakland at 9 and will arrive at the san francisco ferry building at 935. pride is just one of several big events in the bay area today combined for hundreds of thousands of people. there's the grateful dead concert at levi stadium and the giants and a's have games. now traffic in parts of the north bay will be reduced to a crawl at some time. not much going on but expect to be long delays throughout this morning. there's already a long orange line in the map and should only get worse sections of highway 37 and 29 and bumper to bumper throughout the day. >> it's been off turn ten and a big one. look at that cloud of dust. it's kyle busch. >> as you can see kyle busch

cable car fares from 7 to $5 and the disabled riders are going to cost you $1 but the adult single ride fare will hold at $2.25. adult round trip fares will increase a dollar. round trips for the youth go up 50 cents and cost between 5 and 40 cents more to ride the ferry on wednesday. san francisco families are being pushed out of the city by rent increases according to the san francisco chronicle. families who rent homes instead of apartments are one rent increase away from being forced out of the city. families used to move across the bay to berkeley or oakland but with rent all across the bay area rising some families are moving as far away as have will a hoe or vacaville. 14% of all are children. that's the lowest percentage

a terrorist attack at a sea side resort is forcing tourists to flee from an african country. they held a vigil outside a hotel. one parent brought his child along that said stop terrorism. we love tunisia. a gunman opened fire in broad daylight killing 40 people many of whom who were british tourists. >> everybody stand up and ran and also security all told us to run. go into your rooms. run away. >> the gunman who was killed during the attack has been identified as a 24-year-old

engineering student who may have been carrying out isis' launch for attacks for ram dan. this week james holmes is expected to continue presented his case. the defense is hoping to show holmes was legally insane when he killed 12 people and wounded more than 70 others in 2012. he's pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. a physiatrist testified last week. >> any doubt in your mind he was psychotic four days after the shooting. >> if the jury finds him insane he'll be in a mental hospital indefinitely. state officials are looking into answers for the oil spill two months ago. state lawmakers question industry officials from the

company that owned the pipeline. 100,000-gallons slipped into the ocean. environmentalist crews want to know why crews were not sent out until the day after. >> the only activity on the beach was one lone person with rae hard hat walking up and down the beach. they waited overnight and the tide washed all that material out in that time. >> where the oil spilled the beach reopened this weekend. the oil drifted as far south as manhattan beach in los angeles county. those were set to close for memorial day but they are open now. some bay area lawmakers are trying to keep it from a tax reduction. pg and e was fined $1 million for the explosion in 2010. eight people died from the blast and explosion.

livermore and san jose these clouds pushing off to the north and east and storm tracker 2 in the overnight hours we saw the green move over head. now into areas like clear lake and the lake county area. continuing the possibility of partly cloudy skies and a little bit of unstable weather here. i push you through the afternoon and those clouds continue to move to the north as we continue through our day. the low clouds partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies at the coast. temperatures very similar to how we were yesterday. a lot of 60s and 70s around the bay. a very comfortable day inland once again with temperatures upper 70s low to mid 80s but the shade of red still into the central valley not looking into 90s for us today. we are starting out mostly cloudy. low 60s in the forecast.

warming up to the upper 60s partly cloudy skies and again that's what we are looking at for the afternoon for the pride festivities parade going on today. 77 in napa for the afternoon. mid 70s in. if you go to the east bay temperatures ranging from the upper 60s to 74 in oakland 84 in danville and some of the warmer spots like brentwood 87 for today. san jose 80. upper 70s santa clara and 73 degrees for san bruno. low 60s along the coastline. the extended forecast. enjoy today if you don't like the heat it's coming back. temperatures taking a pretty big jump as early as tomorrow and back to near 100 degrees perhaps even above for the hotter locations tuesday, wednesday and then we begin to see a cool down as we get into thursday. >> that forecast changed from yesterday and got warmer

in three hours the annual pride parade will roll down market street. yesterday morning a well known icon of pride was installed right there. this is a time laps video showing the installation of the pink triangle featuring 175 bright pink canvass and is in memory of the people killed in germany. it reminds people about the past and a hope for a better future. it will be taken down at 4:30 this afternoon and go back up july 5, 2016 for the 46th annual san francisco pride. pride celebrations are taking place all over the country to legalize same sex

marriage. in houston people turned out for a marriage equality rally and turned the ebe vent into a we diddy party. houston's hope openly gay mayor had to leave the state in order to marry her partner. >> the rings we exchanged 18 months ago now means something in texas. >> they were looking forward to their own marriages. in minneapolis the bid over the river has been lit like a rainbow for the pride celebrations. in 2013 minneapolis became the 12th city to legalize same sex marriage. and in kansas city missouri people began celebrating on friday. banners welcome the historic division and one same sex couple felt they were off a rollercoaster ride of uncertainty about their rights

the 14-year-old was discovered dead in a canal. he appeared to be tied up but the string or shoe lac fell off when the dog was taken out of the canal and they think he fell in after being hit by a car and just couldn't get out. a fire damminged a building near an elementary school starting just after 4:30 afternoon. the fire burned for two hours. one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion. investigators found -e that the school had been broken into. and starting tomorrow cal fire will ban out door burning in santa clara alameda counties. people will not be allowed to burn anything outside of their homes to reduce the risk of wild fires. also asking people to trim the grass and trees and clean out

float they wanted and to take part in pride festivities this weekend. we flew in this couple to come in to march with us today and as you know it's not accepted there and they flew in and ended up getting engaged this weekend on golden gate bridge so it's a really special time for us. >> and we talked to some of the float builders this morning about how much material was involved in putting some of these floats together and she told us ten truck loads of foam, 500-pounds of glitter and 500-gallons of paint to make some of the floats out here. a lot of them are from different companies, national corporations and a lot of companies that have offices in the bay area. this is a burrito float behind us. threat are non profit groups as well. we saw a float this morning.

>> we'll check with you in just a little bit. time now 834. san francisco police are investigating a robbery that happened inside a bank just after 3 on friday afternoon the bank of america. the bank customer was waiting in line with deposit bags that contain cash and checks with the thief grabbed the bags and ran to a get away car. he was african american about 6 feet tall with a dark hooded sweatshirt and the car a gray honda with tinted windows. east bay officials investigating a cruelty case a dog thought to have been thrown into a canal died by accident. the 14-year-old dog was discovered last week in a walnut creek canal. it appeared he had been tied up but the string the dog was tangelled in fell off when the dog was taken out of the canal.

rest. a school district in houston texas has been open to renaming six schools named for confederate army officers. the idea was brought up after the church shooting in charleston south carolina. they've been wanting the name for the schools for years but others aren't so open to the idea. >> i just think it's time that we take a look at making sure that all of our names reflect the values that we want our district to portray. >> they've never had a problem with it all these years. why would they have a problem with it now. >> that isn't true. this isn't the first time the issue has come up. it's discussed in 2013 and 2014 when a school district changed school mascots evensive to americans. a fire damage in a building. just after 4:30 friday afternoon at the sea view elementary school. the fire did cause significant damage. one firefighter was treated for

old vendor working at the festival. >> we heard a bunch of shots. we heard somebody put their hands up. we heard another guy with guns in his hands and a lot of people running. >> officers recovered a semiautomatic handgun and detained six people. the vendor who was hit is listed in stable condition. >> we heard three or four gunshots, and everybody kind of just like stuck down, and i looked over, and there were two cops with their guns out and just a lot of commotion. >> investigators, including the gang tax force, were all sent to the scene. police stress the shooting was not related to the pride festival itself but the shooting is similar to an incident that happened two years ago. closing arguments are set to begin tomorrow in the trial of the man accused of murdering a vallejo police officer. smith is accused of shooting and killing an officer following a bank robbery in 2011. smith faces the death penalty

if convicted of murder. the city of brentwood has turned off all of its decorative fountains as a move to save water. all four fountains operated with recirculating water, but city leaders say the fountains used drinking water. officials say turning off the fountains will help send the message to residents that they are serious about water conservation during this drought. starting wednesday many public transit riders will pay more to get around. san francisco muni is increasing prices for adults that include bart and the city. cable car fares will also go up and single ride fares for young seniors and disabled riders will also increase but the adult single ride fare will not change. some golden gate transit fares are also going up on july 1st. you can see right there the golden gate transit adult ride trip fare goes up one dollar. the san francisco bay ferry fare increases 5 to 40 cents. all the prices go up july 1st.

good morning to you. happy sunday. a live look over the lafayette area. as we look towards the west you can see the low clouds just sitting atop the east bay hills. mostly sunny skies for most of our inland areas at this point. the overnight hours we actually had sprinkles reported in several spots from san jose into portions of the east bay and the north bay. had to do with that monsoonal moisture that continues to be pumped into the state of california. take a look. the setup here that ridge of high pressure remains over the four corners and the circulation around it, love this water vapor satellite view for you here. it gives you an idea of that moisture in the atmosphere. you can see how it comes in from the desert southwest. meanwhile we continue with this low pressure off the coastline as well. that is what brought our temperatures way down

free. >> free. >> why is that? >> we have a promotion for the month of june for our summer of love. so we're promoting free love. all of our hard to place animals are free to any qualified home. >> now, a lot of people are worried about, they're pit bulls. there's a stair why he type of negativity about that. explain. >> pit bulls are just like any other dogs. they received a bad rap because people have mistreated them, used them for fighting and things like. that but actually in the 1950s they were the preferred family dog. they love people, they love other animals. they have a lot of agility so they're great running partners. and they're just overall good dogs. it's really not as much about the breed as it is about the family that raises them. >> the person who takes control of the dog. >> exactly. >> look at this. if we're going get this dog for free, you've got to get someone who is able to keep up with the dog. >> exactly. so even though the animals are

free, we stirl making sure they're going to qualified homes, making sure that the people have the time and the energy to deal with every particular animal they have. we have tons of animals. so it's not just pit bulls. we have german shepherds, we have chihuahua mixes, terrier mixes, dachshunds. >> and there's a special walk. >> it's called the pit crew. if you are interested in meeting them they will be more than happy to meet you. >> there's also some good things. they work well with kids. we have a kid out here. they worked well. earlier we said they're not fans of cats. is that true? >> depends on the individual dog. if they have a high prey drive, they may not be as good with cats as others who don't care. we do dog-cat meets at the shelter prior to approving any adoption. >> it's all about the summer of love. come adopt me. >> yes. >> they're very important. check them out. if you want to take advantage of the summer of love for free

for a marriage equality rally. at least one couple turned the event into an impromptu wedding party after hurrying to the courthouse to marry. houston's openly gay mayor said she had to leave the state to marry 1 months ago. >> others called the decision a dream come true and said they were looking forward to their own marriages. in minneapolis the interstate 35 bridge over the mississippi river has been lit up like a rainbow for a celebration there in the twin cities. in 2013 minneapolis became the 12th state to legalize same- sex marm. the first time the bridge was lint for the festival pride was in 2011. and in kansas city, missouri, people began celebrating pride on friday. this all followed the announcement. bans and banners welcomed the historic decision. one same-sex couple told a

spacex rocket was carrying two and a half tons of supplies and a new type of docking port to the space station. it broke apart about two and a half minutes after launching from florida. tesla's ceo says a liquid oxygen tank was overpressurized. this is considered a big setback for space x and nasa which is counting on private industry to transport cargo to the space station in the future. this morning the manhunt continues in upstate new york for an escaped inmate. hundreds of law enforcement officers are looking for david sweat. investigators say he is probably having a much tougher time on the run since his fellow escapee was shot to death by officers on friday. the two fled a maximum security prison on june 6th. this morning vice president joe biden made a surprise appearance at the church in south carolina where nine people were shot and killed. meantime another funeral is skeaned today for one of the
