they are still searching for possible accomplices. in new york the escape of the second escapee has come to the end. today they shot and wounded david sweat. rich has more from upstate new york. >> after three weeks on the run the intense man for two escaped inmates has come to an end. david sweat has been shot by police. it happened just miles from the canadian border. his follow escapee was shot and killed on friday. he had a weapon in possession when he was killed. >> we recovered a 20-gauj shotgun from his body at the location. >> they found sweat around the location matt was found.

doing any damage. flames broke out yesterday afternoon near still canyon road. crews have this fire about 80% contained. cal fire is close to containing a grass fire in san jose. the flames broke out about 1:30 this afternoon. about 80 acres burned here. crews tackled the fire from the sground air. the cause of that fire is under investigation. near lake tahoe fire crews are making progress of a wildfire burning for more than week. containment is almost at 40% for the washington fire and alpine county. lightning sparked that fire on june 19. highway 4 through mark heville is now open but highway 89 near the highway 4 junction remains closed. starting tomorrow cal fire

will ban all outdoor burning in parts of contra costa, alameda and santa clara counties. people that live in the area will not be allowed to burn anything outside their home. the ban aims to reduce the risk of wildfires during the drought. the agency says more than two million homes in california are in areas at high risk of extreme risk of wildfires this year. of course this is the time of year when we are worried about the weather and how that affects fire danger. mark is here to tell us. if the winds pick up and it gets hotter then fire danger increases. >> that will be happening once again. it seems like fire season kicked off last week in the bay area. we are expecting more triple digit heat across parts of the bay area. take a look at the high from this afternoon. today one of the more comfortable days out there.
