tonight. and i'm julie herald. santa claire cabrera county and its largest union working to set for strike tomorrow. ken is live at the office in san jose where negotiate ors are still meeting at this hour. >> reporter: we've been outside union headquarters here since this afternoon and they are inside negotiating. we're awaiting word and they could go on until 3:00 this morning and if no deal is reached by around that team we could expect to see a strike at 6:00 a.m. in the morning. the picket signs are ready to go. a union representing 9,000 santa clara county workers is ready to strike. and a strike worries this woman it's about her pray check. >> rent is almost $1,000. whatever can we do? whatever the minority decide we

have to two. >> reporter: working at the medical center where a bulk of workers would be going on strike but also jail workers and 911 employees. >> this is our biggest union. that's about half of all the county employees. >> reporter: dave cortez says negotiates have been on talkin' colluding in the healthcare system. k wanted 2100 employees labeled essential and exempt from pick the lines. because a superior court judge rules only 475 workers such as the 911 dispatchers and certain jail workers are deemed essential. valley medical center saying it would have 530 employees on strike tomorrow. everyone close some of the primary care sites that we have. some of our outpatient clinics and cancel any nonspecial surgeries or other services.

>> reporter: supervisor cortez says the county has continues to be ready if talks fail. >> we're confident we can get through if we have to. >> reporter: hoping she doesn't have to get through towards home plate. >> i've been here almost 20 years and we've never had a strike before. >> reporter: it has been four years ago since the local representing workers has gone on strike. we will know by 6:00 a.m. if the long stretch will continue. >> and another big concern tonight is if there is a strike tomorrow how many nonstriking workers would hon in order picket lines? >> reporter: the supervisor president was asked that question and the answer is it's simply unknown. 9,000 county workers would be able to apply a significant amount of pressure with a strike of the need to bring in other unions to cross the picket line or set up their own

picket lines. you would think that would be pressure that may be applied down the road if necessary. >> ken, thanks very much. two coast guard members are recovering continue after a chopper crashed. tipped on the side destroying the rotors. amber lee is live at fso with new information about what happened. >> reporter: 10 hours after the crash landing the damaged aircraft is still behind me. a team investigators from around the country is scheduled to arrive here sometime tomorrow to determine exactly what went wrong. en an unusual sight. this dolphin helicopter tipped on its side shortly before 3 this afternoon. it crash landed. an aircraft normally used for rescue missions. >> it's almost a trademark of the coast guard when folks are in trouble and distress on

water that's what they typically see. >> reporter: but this time two crew members were inside. a pilot and a flight mechanic. they were on a routine test maintenance flight as the chopper huered at 10 feet aboveground something went wrong. >> when they attempted to land the malfunction occurred and landed on its side. >> reporter: doesn't know if it tilted and then crash landed or if the hard landing caused the aircraft to tip on its side. rotors suffered heavy damage. this is audio from air traffic control as first responders arrived at the scene. >> what's going on? >> we had coast guard helicopter go level and they went down. so we've got emergency vehicles going over there. >> reporter: fortunately the crew survived. >> they walked away from the aircraft relatively unharmed. >> reporter: the two men were treated at the scene and later taken to sf general for further

temperatures. >> chief meteorologist bill is here chacking those for us and the threat of fire is going to be elevated. >> it's really going to heat out there. warmed up today and tomorrow hotter if you will and hotter again on wednesday. no fog along the coast right now. take a look at what we're looking at. typically this time of night. the wind is still slightly on shore. the fog will be there in the morning but what's going to happen here is talking about the weather system from the southwest pushing in. see the high pressure coming out the southwest and what it's going to do is bring some of that heat from nevada up into our area and it's going to press right into the central valley and when it does that talking about temperatures that will easily make it into the low 100s even 105, 106 degrees into wednesday. cool breeze right at the coast. if you're too hot just get right on water's edge there will be plenty of fog and it will be cool. and then the inland the heat

>> reporter: safe and scene fireworks don't fly or explode but every year they cause fires and injuries being used improperly. that house fire today put three people out of their holmes but that was not fireworks. that cause is still undetermined. >> debra, thank you very much. a fire that broke out in gilroy this afternoon is now fully controlled. it burned 16 acres near county lake park. first reports came in around 1:30 this afternoon and fireworks reacted quickly. they didn't burn. no injuries were reported here. so far no word opt cause of this fire. tonight 2 investigates is learning about a major development in a fight to force changes as a troubled residential hotel in oak lands. just ordered the owners to hand over dakota to day control -- day to day troll of that building. now replacing the hotel in

the fbi and homeland security issued a bulletin advising authorities nationwide a heightened threat of an isis attack around the 4th of july. jana is here with more on the terror threat. >> reporter: officials have said they have not identified any specific plot but the homeland security asking law enforcement sergeant a-- agencies to be vigilant through the 4th of july. the fireworks and fun are now a homeland security concern. the symbolic day for the u.s. comes on a same week for isis. it established a self- proclaimed islamic state exactly a year ago today. the terror group has since

expanded its influence globally. and white house officials say it's called for worldwide acts of violence through july 17th. >> mindful of the more recent call by leaders of isil and other extremists to carry out attacks over ram dan which we're obviously in the middle of now. >> reporter: also of concern three terror attacks friday in france, kuwait and tunisia. they layed flowers in honor of the 38 victims killed at the beach resort. isis has claimed responsibility. isis has used the internet and isobar media to connect and recruit with shies including in the united states. >> it was guidance from the top down. isis is terrorist populism it's from the bomb up. and it will will be so difficult for us to detect and stop it. >> reporter: one -- fbi reportedly has arrested 10 people in the past three weeks

for alleged domestic terror plots. >> i'm extremely concerned about the way the syrian isis recruiters can use the internet at lightning speed to recruit followers in the united states and then activate them to do whatever they want to do whether it's military installations, law enforcement, or probably a 4th of july event parade. >> reporter: the secretary of home less than security warned u.s. law enforcement agencies and the public friday to be vigilant saying, quote, we will also adjust security issues seen and unseen to protect the american people." the homeland security bulletin went out to 18,000 law enforcement agencies nationwide. in the meantime there is a bill created last week to support homeland security perhaps. focused specificsly on targeting isis propaganda online. >> jana thank you. starting wednesday it will cost more to cross the golden

legislation requiring all children to attend public or private schools. the vote was 24-14. if it's signed into law one of the toughest vaccine laws in the country explaining some of the details of the legislation and what the governor's office is saying. >> if governor brown science the bill into law it will become much more difficult for parents to opt out of vaccinating their kids by claiming a personal belief exception exception. >> i think the law is a great idea as a teacher. >> reporter: parent the with young kids who can't be vaccinated yet applauded the bill. >> there's no denying that kids spread diseases. >> reporter: but the bill also many opponents. rallying at the state capitol for month the while the will was under debate. >> as a society we need to protect each other. >> reporter: if the bill becomes law they will have to be home schooled or a medical exception from their doctor. kids who already have a

a wildfire has destroyed more than 28 homes in washington state. and tonight that fire is only 10% contained. it started yesterday in eastern washington in the town of wenatchee. burned some 4,000 acres. temperatures have been above 100 degrees and the winds have been strong making it difficult for firefighters. the wildfire also forced about 1,000 residents to evacuate. some people only had a few minutes notice after the wind shifted sending the flames towards town. >> we've been through plenty of forest fires but nothing like this. we evacuated it a friend's house and they got evacuated too within the hour. >> officials say they're worried about the winds picking up again tonight and say it will likely take days to get this fire under control. so far no word on how it started. the state assembly today
