bizarre scenario. a whole bunch of firefighters out in front of a building inine waiting to make entry because they've been told there's a gas leak. but out front they met this guy and it turns into a bit of a standoff. the guy goes back into the building for a brief moment. firefighters continue to set up their gear. by now you can tell the firelines are charged. this firefighter ready with his hose when the guy comes out of his apartment again. and it's another face-off. but watch what the firefighters do here. boom. they turn the hose on and douse that guy. here's the story behind the video, he did notice something in his right hand. it's a knife. reports say that he's holding a woman hostage in the apartment and has turned the gas line on. >> what? >> he's trying to fill the apartment with gas. that's why the firefighters have been called. police haven't arrived. that's why the firefighters had to take the matters into their own hand.

they were able to douse him just enough to grab the knife out of his hands. >> the firefighters have to face such strange situations. >> a serious situation for the woman as well. >> the woman was his wife. she got out of there unharmed and it looks like the man was unharmed. police were able to get him into custody. now to australia with a couple bandits come smashing through the front of this convenient store. their faces covered, they through a brick through the front window. the one guy has an ax. another man has a cleaver. they come in threatening the employees for money. nobody hurt in this situation. however, police believe these same guys were responsible for several other robberies here by the place. >> any other clues? >> nothing yet. hopefully they can generate some information about these guys. now this woman is in japan skiing on the slopes. can we see her? snapping into her snowboard, getting ready to go. starts going down the slope,

nobody gets hurt but the car does. it looks like the car is in neutral going so slow and then it turns around to make a u-turn and -- >> it spent 30 seconds going 10 meters then wahoo! >> the woman in the driver seat hops out of the car. everybody is distraught. nobody understands what is going on right now. >> she's asking, did i do that? 2015 was without a doubt the year of the hoverboard. everybody wanted one for christmas but there were two bigger shortcomings. one, they didn't hover and two they blew up a lot. so 2016 may just be the year of the flatboard. >> oh, yeah. that thing is good. >> yes, indeed. these are the guys that do the
