moment captured on video. this 83-year-old woman is suffering from dementia. she comes into the room and her family points out that teddy bear. she takes it and immediately likes it. gives it a big old hug. >> squeeze it. >> squeeze him a bit harder. >> she immediately bursts into joy. you can see how ecstatic and happy she's become and that's become recorded in that teddy bear are the words of her late husband saying you are the best girl in the world for me. so sweet. >> that's so sweet. i got goose bumps when i saw the reaction. her face was like magic. >> that's something her husband would write to her in letters as he was away serving. >> so, obviously, those words carries a lot of weight.

there's a lot of emotion. >> she had that recording and would listen to it every single day but six weeks ago the recording broke and she thought she would never be able to hear it again. and that's the thing with teddy bears they are sent. ment -- sceentimental. it's not just good for her but good for her family. it gives them glimpses of the woman she used to be. >> it's great video on its own but when you find out the story, it's incredible. if you have been following international news over the last couple of days you may have heard about the shooting that happened in central city. reports came over the radio of a young man with a knife babling into her rentsly. police respond. and here's this exclusive

footage. [ gunshot ] >> he eventually falls down to the ground. did you hear that right there? the woman there saying i've been shot. in fact, she was. it wasn't just her. now the 23-year-old male had been reported missing from a nearby psychiatric strike center since the day before so after the shooting is finished people were treated. the 23-year-old male had gunshot wounds to the arm, abdomen and thigh. is in serious and stable condition. this is what's got everybody talking. the assistant commissioner

admitted that everyone injured, all those injured had suffered gunshot wounds from police rounds. when you're in one of those situations you have to think about your sight line, what is in the background. >> did she give any kind of warning? >> we don't know what happened before this but it's a life or death situation and she felt it necessary to act. as such, those an investigation has now been launched to look into whether a taser or pepper spray could have been used. >> this officer, her profession, her job is to protect her community. >> the best thing to do would maybe to get another weapon. you can't hold another human being responsible for trying to protect their life as well. people are split about it but at the same time feeling very lucky that nobody was killed. it's a discussion that's going to continue. don't know his name but i do
