got away. police knew an attack like this would happen. so called islamic state released a video proporting to show two turk irk soldiers kidnapped in syria and being burned alike -- turkish soldiers kidnapped in syria and being burned alive. looks like a new year's eve massacre may have been the result. president obama has condemned that attack. white house spokesperson schultz released a statement saying quote, the president expressed condolences for the innocent lives lost, directed his team offered appropriate assistance to the turkish authorities and offered . police are looking for a suspect who has gone missing.

they were supposed to return after christmas day after a trip to big sur. that license number is 5vud925. they're driving a tan colored honda civic. police say officers arrived to find a man who had been shot in the face. investigators say he was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later. just a few hours later at 2:15 this morning in the mission, officers arrived near the corner of 26th and shot well streets to find a man who had been shot in the chest. he died at the hospital. police say neither shooting appears connected or gang related there's no word though on any suspects, motives or the identity of the victims. they have not yet been released either. coming down hard on russia over hacking of u.s. political institutions. the two republican lawmakers at odds over president-elect trump

senators are calling on tougher sanctions on russia. >> we believe that putin has hacked into our elections in america and is trying to undermine elections all over the world. >> the hacking was an attack and should be treated as such and we think their financial institutions and other aspects of the russian economy should be addressed. >> mccain is the head of the armed services committee and is vowing to investigate russian hacking. meantime russian officials deny any involvement in the cyber attack. president-elect donald trump is also not convinced.

children are now required to ride in a rear facing car seat. state law already requires that all children under the age of 8 to ride in the backseat. requiring drunk drivers to have devices installed in their cars. the device requires the driver to pass in order for the car to start. that device is required of those convicted of dui want to have their licenses reinstated. and only applies to alameda county, sacramento county, los angeles, and tulari counties for two more years and many go statewide in 2014. beauty salons and barber shops here in california will now be legally allowed to serve alcohol to customers as long as it's free. and before 10:00 at night. some salons were already doing this offering champane to customers which was technically against the law without a liquor license. outrage over the brock

turner sexual assault case prompted a new law that goes into effect today. anyone convicted of sexually assaulting a person will now be ineligible for probation and face a mandatory incarceration. now turner is a former stanford swimmer sexually assaulting an intoxicated woman. turner was sentenced to three months in jail. the new law broadens the definition of raeup -- rape to include all forms of secs. what the singer's boyfriend is saying about the possible cause of death.

wired world. workers now have the option to ignore e-mails from work when they're off the job. it's called the right to disconnect. supporters say it will help prevent job burn out. those opposers say it will make it harder for france to compete. so far this law is voluntary. the boyfriend of the late george michael tweeted today that the grammy award winning singer had attempted suicide many times. the late singer was found dead in his home in england on christmas day. today he tweeted quote the only thing that george wanted was to die and that he tried a number of times to kill himself and finally managed. an autopsy was inconclusive as to how michael died. he had struggled though with drug addiction and depression for many years. britain's queen elizabeth missed the traditional new

year's eve mass. the queen also skipped her visit to christmas mass for the first time in decades. the absence has some concerns about the ruler of buckingham palace. muni riders can expect to pay more this year. discount monthly passes for youth, seniors and people with disabilities also increased to $36. muni cash fares have increased a quarter to $2.50. discount cash fares were also increased from $1 to $1.25. a southern california family welcomed the first baby of 2016 in the south bay just seconds into the new year. we want you to meet grace emily moreno. she was born 12 seconds after midnight at o'conner hospital at san jose.

6pounds, 11-ounces and 20- inches long. she is leslie and edwin moreno's third child. the couple lives in pendleton where dad is a marine. it is cold out there today and you say temperatures are going to drop even more. >> even more so into monday heather. very cold canadian air pushing into northern california. in the bay area. that will be the first change and a few more changes to talk about as we head toward midweek. as you can see right now. there's that cold air setting up. this will be drifting closer to the bay area. as a result, we're talking about some pretty low snow levels. possibly down to right around 1,500 feet especially up toward napa county. sonoma county and mendecino county as well. they have a winter advisory in place.

the clouds have been increased over the past few hours. there we go with the rainfall and snowfall up to our north. and we are expecting the shower coverage to increase. current numbers it is chilly out there showing you some 30s. actually 40s already in santa rosa. 43degrees. napa 46. livermore 45 and san francisco in the upper 40s as well. january1st over san francisco bay we do have this. some scattered clouds and a bit of a breeze out there with winds at 10 to 15 miles per hour. there's not a widespread rain eventer for tomorrow morning but still scattered showers to talk about out there. temperatures will be on the cool side from the 30s to the 40s. here's the weather system moving in from the north. it's going to move camp. a few scattered showers out there. tomorrow will be the coldest day of the week. that means upper 40s to lower 50s. this backs up this area of low pressure that will set up a very active weather pattern with rainfall developing into tuesday.

especially by the afternoon hours into the north bay. more rain into wednesday and possibly more rain into thursday and possibly be on. so this could be a very active weather pattern and we could be talking about significant rainfall. rain models have been going back and forth with how much rainfall we'll be getting. we're planning some more storms over the next coming days. a winter advisory in place next tuesday. storm levels will be collapsing into tuesday. we will have scattered showers out there. once again pretty low snow levels especially into the north bay. a few scattered showers throughout the day on monday. and then on tuesday we start out dry and then here we go with the rainfall developing up in the north bay. could increase in coverage by tuesday and once again into wednesday and possibly into wednesday as well. some more rain clouds paying us a visit. temperatures for tomorrow upper 40s to the lower 50s for afternoon highs. so definitely bring the rain

jacket out there. the sweaters to stay warm. lots to talk about here. possibly heavy rain wednesday especially up in the north bay. rainfall could be likely thursday and into friday. and then into the weekend could be talking about some more rain chances. so this could be some what of a big deal if everything widens out we'll be watching for that over the next few days. >> definitely something to keep an eye out. coming up, are you looking for a new job for the new year? we take a look at the job market. and which sector will perhaps see the most growth.

now the the economic outlook for 2017. we spoke to a leading labor expert to find out what's next for the employment sector in the next year. many people thought of it as an unemployment office instead of the resource, training and economic system. he says the year began with 16.2 million payroll jobs here in california. since then we've added 330,000 new jobs putting our total today at 16.6 million. and since the recession ended

in 2010, california has gained 2.5 million jobs. last year, we were at 5.9% unemployment. today it's 5.3. we are on a near record roll. we're now on our 85th month unemployment expansion. this is one of the largest expansions since world war ii and there's nothing on the horizon that suggest this is growth can't continue. >> construction, as well as lee sewer and -- as well as leisure and hospitality. does california have enough

people to fill the jobs president-elect trump promised? >> there's no question we do. we also have the training capacity between the work force boards, the community colleges and other crews. >> reporter: however, if and when more permanent jobs arise. many in those less than traditional job situations will find full time positions with better pay. >> well i think we're beginning to already see that. wages will go up and i think there's no question as the labor market getting tighter. >> reporter: if technology follows its traditional path it will lead to better jobs in the
