large crowds rallied in san francisco as part of a national day of action. nancy pelosi joined other officials criticizing president- elect donald trump's plan to repeal the affordable care act. ktvu fox news at 6:00 starts now. good evening, democrats are gearing up for a fight in congress over the repeal of the affordable care act. the efforts include several protests across the country to rally supporters against the republican agenda. two of those happened in the bay area. >> reporter: while president-

elect donald trump and republican leaders in congress are committed to replacing obama care, the majority of democrats are committed to keeping it. we heard from prominent advocates that said trump care would be disasterrous. >> reporter: on the steps of city hall the crowds rallied in a national day of action. nancy pelosi joined other elected officials in attacking president-elect donald trump's plan. >> they want to reduce and cut medicaid when they do the affordable care act. medicare, medicaid and the aca are all together. >> reporter: congress has already taken steps towards repealing obama care, but trump care is not a viable option for many here. mayor ed lee spoke about the

police are looking for the man who tried to buy $1,000 worth of merchandise from wal- mart with a stolen credit card. the manager at wal-mart was able to trace the transactions. anyone with information on this case is asked to call the police. his name is sam maxwell, he was the last person to make it out of the deadly oakland warehouse fire alive. next his parents talk to ktvu fox news about the challenges he faces now. >> the latest on a sinkhole in pacifica. a dry weekend coming up but we have stubborn fog. i will let you know about the morning forecast.

. the last person to make it out of the ghost ship warehouse fire in oakland is still in the hospital. he suffered severe smoke inhalation and was put into a coma. we spoke to his parents about his difficult recovery coming up. >> reporter: his parents spend everyday at the saint francis burn unit. >> he texted me and said, i am out, i am alive. i had no idea what he was

talking about. >> reporter: their son, an oakland book seller had been to the ghost ship parties several times before the fire, he smelled the smoke and was helping the djs look for the source when the flames became too much. >> he knew his way back to the front door. >> reporter: he was said to be the last person to make it out alive. he was transferred to saint francis because of the smoke inhalation. when he was transferred to the hospital, they found out his situation was worse than they

have built up the snow pack. we had a soggy january, look at the numbers, just for january, santa rosa 12 inches of rain, concord, 5 inches. san francisco 5 inches. san jose 3 inches. today, fog out there, that had an impact on the temperatures. highs in the 40s. here's the bigger picture in the pacific. you see the storm track. all of the energy is heading to our north towards the pacific northwest. you can see the fog in the central valleys. some of that cool fog bank, it almost felt like refrigerator air. the wind could help transport the fok closer to the bay first
