a house fire leaves two people critically injured. one of them is nine years old. tributes pouring and for the man known as the conscience of congress. representative john lewis. good evening and thank you for joining us. we begin tonight with a devastating house fire at daly city. it left a child in critical condition. alyssa harrington has been following the story for us.

>> firefighters say when they arrived at the residence they found a child and an adult unconscious in a back room. both were rushed to the hospital. >> neighbors react to the news that a child is among two of the critically injured in a house fire on daly city's bismarck street. they broke out of the duplex just after 8 am. >> i've seen those kids before. so it's really sad. that's really horrible. >> those who know the family see a nine-year-old was badly hurt. firefighters forced their way inside. they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the kitchen area. >> there were two victims found inside the house. both were transported to a local hospital in critical condition. >> the victims rushed to hospital and no one else was hurt. the fire was quickly extinguished. they may have lacked smoke

forgotten. one of his congressional colleagues said the passing is in and of the arab. the fight for justice will continue in his honor. >> what we have seen in the streets with the entirely new generation of leaders indicates that the fight does go on. >> he died following a seventh month battle with pancreatic cancer. in atlanta, fox news. dianne feinstein today released this statement on his passing. reading and parts, john lewis was a liberal alignment. but he was fiercely independent and had innate dignity. he felt it was the right thing to do. that is why he was called the conscience of congress. former president barack obama said he loved this country too much. so that they might live up to the promise. to the decades he not only gave of himself to the cause of

collected and sent to a lab in massachusetts for analysis. the lab told health officials that based on how much of the virus it counted it's possible that 170 people were affected in yosemite valley. visitor centers remain closed while campgrounds gift shops and hotels are limiting services to allow for physical distancing. the bay area reached a grim milestone in the death toll. california reported more than 375,000 cases. which is an increase of about 10,024 hours. 120 more since yesterday. there almost 31,000 cases and today we reach 700 deaths. state officials are set to announce new rules that will allow stylists barbers and aestheticians to provide outdoor services.

stomach authorities are looking into whether not an arsonist is responsible for the fire at the resort cathedral of notre dame. flames broke out inside cathedral and the city of knox. firefighters say it is unlike the one at notre dame in paris last year because they were able to get under control quickly. the roof is intact. the cathedral not in knox survived a serious fire in 1972. police are asking for the

public's help as they investigate a deadly shooting. it happened late thursday night on harbor way. police say they found a 21-year- old man suffering from at least one gunshot wound pronounced dead at the scene. so far there've been no arrests made an police would like to hear from anyone who may have information on this case. police are asking for help bringing a missing man home safely. peter very l was last seen in the outer mission. he is described as an asian man at 5'1" inches and weighing 135 pounds of black hair and brown eyes. the 61-year-old suffers from medical condition that causes him to become disoriented and requires medication. if you see him your asked the cost emphasis go police. the media today got a first look at the new stretch of the road connecting to richmond.

the trail in albany officially opened today. a nearly $19 million east bay regional park project added a new mile-long segment to the trail behind golden gate fields. that is between berkeley and alban. they can now enjoy sweeping views for the golden gate bridge and the san francisco's skyline. one mile told extension of the missing link for the san francisco bay trail a recreation a commute trail and a linear park. it will connect unconnected pieces of the 8.5 mile mc laughlin each east charge state park. >> the project is also a small beach at the north and of the east segment doubling in size.

threatened. smoke is also causing some haze here in the bay area. a wildfire burning southeast of livermore is nearly out. at cal fire said today that the hollow fire is 90% contained. it broke out on thursday around 5:15 pm and has burned 250 acres. it started a long tesla road and did not threaten any structures. fire officials want to make sure that the community is prepared in case of a large wildfire. they have details on how the evacuation exercises during the pandemic are going. >> with everything going on right now it may feel a bit overwhelming to plan for yet another emergency. but fire and police officials wanted their official residence be prepared. which is why the plan is evacuation exercise. >> the coronavirus pandemic makes everything look a bit different this year. including preparing for a wildfire. >> this morning's evacuation exercise was a virtual exercise.

thing tomorrow morning. with san rafael and oakland in hayward. partly cloudy skies and well inland. the marine layer which has been shallow, will actually deepen a bit and it will need to cooling. not only for the bayside locations but also for the inland hotspots. not talking about major heat over the coming days as this area of high pressure sticks around somewhat for tomorrow. but tomorrow we do begin to cool things off for your sunday. and then as we did mention there is a:forecast as the system moves in from the north for monday, tuesday and wednesday. the heat is out of here after today. here's a forecast model. tomorrow morning the clouds and temperatures are going to be low 50s to low 60s going into your afternoon hours with the pretty colors to indicate the micro cloud that is out there. 60s to the coast the hotspots in linden the upper 80s to right around 90 degrees. going out toward antioch with a 90. santa rosa 93 san francisco at 66.

heading to tomorrow's round. next week figures to be a big one when it comes to the return of sports. despite the increase in the coronavirus cases, according to memo sent out today to all 32 teams by the nfl office, training camp is expected to open as scheduled. rookies are expected to report next tuesday and quarterbacks will be in camp two days later. all players will be here tuesday the 28th. there protocols for testing and corn teaming those who test positive for covid-19. baseball is scheduled to start for real and the toronto blue jays, you will have a problem. because of the coronavirus flareups in the u.s. the canadian government does not want players traveling after they've been in the u.s. so the blue jays will not be able to use the home stadium at all.
