and where we are a year later. >> people never know who leaked this draft opinion in the dobbs case. obviously the standard as justice alito said, it's very high pretty it's clear with the intention of this person was bu it was to influence the outcome to change that decision and the effect was predictable. with solomon's public pressure including protests outside of their homes, threats on their lives and one man and justice s-uppercase-letter doorstep wit the intent to kill and this ultimately diminishes our confidence for all americans because this person out of whic led to impulse but they couldn' accomplish within the law, they try to accomplish outside event. >> he talks about the finger-pointing and somebody that would -- essentially they became targets

robert, who's married to -- $3 million in commissions from elite law firms, both of lord documents. professor, what do you make of these calls forth the court not to step up and draft at the top eight code of conduct. >> at think it was long overdue to have a code of conduct. these are historic regulations. misconduct's conduct could buil $20,000 of payment. you look at the history and the supreme court has been great about avoiding financial improprieties like this is called into question for good reason. the federal says the. they said the only thing perception that conservative justices are corrupt. it's all part of a concerted effort supreme court that upholds a semblance of constitutional limits on the statement one thing still standing in the pla of progressive progress. what you make up that, of these health lines. >> the headlights of philly political.

the justices here didn't do anything wrong it's up to accurately to the transaction did not report things that no one would have to report. the purpose is what the article said to influence the outcome and to do so politically. they want to impose restriction on order to make things more control over their lives in the lives of their spouses at ultimately to influence outcome because justices need to recuse themselves. this know what to take their place really affects the makeup of the court and how cases are decided. >> this comes from a biker parsing call from the senate to force the justices to write and adopt this new code of conduct. there's an interesting opinion piece in the washington post that says it is possible that that is one branch infringing o another. and that there are corruption laws and impeachment for the justices on they are still subjected to those kinds of things. >> we have checks and balances in the constitution and the supreme court is obviously

subject to checks and balances just like the other bridge that government put its required under the law that we have both the appearance and the reality of impartiality when it comes t our judicial branch. the highest court in the land should be even more true. so i think the idea that they aren't found ethics code in the same way that every lower federal court judge is perhaps suggest that the appearance of impartiality and affect the reality for a moment is not really getting through to the public and so i think it is really something that is appropriate for congress doing its oversight authority, engaging in its oversight and authority to consider whether they need to be made or not. >> people see if the appetite a they. thank you all for your time today. we appreciate having you in. >> people around the world called the original love story.
