the facts. >> hunter biden is due to return to a courtroom here in wilmington in about a week to face those gun charges and more tax charges could be coming. shannon? >> lucas in wilmington, thank you. >> joining us now, house republican conference chair elise stefanik. welcome back to fox news sunday. >> great to be with you, shannon. >> let's start here, we have the shutdown days away and mostly it is internal strike of the gop. republicans have fallen into a chaos and government spending of their own creation. our congressional approval at 19%. so, you guys run the house now. what are you telling the american people about the fact that we can't move a defense bill to fund our troops? >> well, we are in a good place. i have been engaged with members as well as speaker mccarthy that we are working through this. i am optimistic that we'll move

it forward. what's really important here, shannon, on behalf of the american people, we know inflation is one of the top concerns. 91% of the american people are concerned of inflation. we have to reign in on this reckless out of control spending that we have seen under the biden administration. >> that's what your most conservative wing is worried about. they made deals and spending cap priorities and all those kinds of things. they don't think it will be honored. you got matt yates as one of them calling this to force the speaker out or a vote on him. if he does not get what he believes he's agree to is cutting. what got a meeting this week that was described by congressman brian assaying the speaker said to him, if you want to file a motion to vacate then file the f-ing motion. how tense are things now? >> i was chairing a couple of

meetings and a weekly discussions of all the republican members. >> is it an accurate quote? >> i am not going to get into it. i want to make sure i respect them. speaker mccarthy support is strong in the conference. he's going to continue to do his job leading this conference. i am confident that we'll work through this and the majority of members and i believe the speaker will survive any type of motion. i don't think it is going to get to that, shannon. we are going through great productive conversations with our members including from the house freedom caucus and the broad republican conference to work through the appropriation process. while also standing up for fiscal responsibility and being good steward of taxpayers dollars and reigning in of all of these spending. >> the speaker had said that this would go through a house vote. it would not be the call of one-person. it didn't. it is not because you don't have the house vote. >> if you look at the president here, speaker pelosi started the

house impeachment inquiry about month before it was a vote. the speaker could call the vote for some time. the impeachment is an important to take for legal purposes. to make sure we can get access to documents and frankly we know the administration is going to stone wall. take a look at what house republicans have uncovered. we have uncovered dozens of lls including of $12 million and some of it came in while president was vice president. this answers concerns of corruption. >> the democrats will say there is no smoking gun and there is no receipts or president biden taking any money that was inappropriate or improper. here is what top house democrat had to say, hakeem jeffery.

he said this is about a disruption. >> they launched an impeach. that's a kangaroo court fishing expedition and conspiracy theater rolled into one. there is not a shred of evidence that president biden has engaged in wrong-doing. >> why tie yourselves up of the resources and the criticism that's going to come when you know it gets to the senate, it goes nowhere. >> i believe in transparency and good governance is very important for any congress. we know that joe biden started off saying he had no knowledge of hunter biden's business dealings and then the white house quickly shifted their story to say joe biden had no involvement. we know as we continue to uncover the facts that's not the case. joe biden was involved with phone calls and hunter biden's top foreign clients. i believe the biden's family including then vice president joe biden was involved in this. frankly, the question of bribery
