saying there is a reason that people want president trump to win and he thinks it is to benefit the other side, here is his take. >> they are investing in a trump nomination and want the election to be about the legal issue, criminal cases and liberal media like it, it will help the democrats. >> shannon: polls do show the president would lose some support from folks who say he would be their choice. if he is convicted, innocent until proven guilty, a long way to go on that road. do you tell voters this is a gamble to take, how do you convince them it is worth it? >> i don't think ron's point passes the smell test. they are trying to remove him from the ballot. moderates are saying tricks they are using against donald trump don't pass muster. they are throwing everything against the wall to throw him

off the ballot, it is insane and nobody believes that. republican voters recognize donald trump was a good president in the past and will be in the future and he has survived the machine. i've tasted some of this. trump has faced an onslot of character assassination, billions of attack ads, surviving in the face of that is most important signal if you are a winning candidate and trump has survived better than anybody i've seen in politics. >> shannon: up cannel fresh polls, suffolk poll puts trump 55 and nikki haley 36 and desantis at 6%. you know here the largest group in new hampshire is undeclared. they can vote in the gop primary. there are a couple of newspaper editorials today endorsing nikki haley, telling people if you are

independent, get out and save the country. how concerned are you they will show up and not choose donald trump? >> draw a distinction, a lot will vote for donald trump and many liberal, many from massachusetts moving to new hampshire will never vote for a republican nominee, even if it is nikki haley, they are just trying to play spoiler to donald trump. republicans have to ask, do we want liberal suburbanites to choose our nominee or do we want to choose our nominee? i think if we choose our nominee, donald trump will win and win handily. shannon, this campaign strategy of getting liberals to vote in a republican primary does not work nationally. it won't work in south carolina, ohio or most other states. we need to select our nominee with voters we can get, not with voters trying to play spoiler because they hate donald trump and the republican party.

what nikki has done when she announced in february, is showcase her vision for the country, showcaseder had talent and only candidate that has gone up in the polls. she has not gone down. she is attracting crowds, people like what they hear. she has the it factor and attracts voters from all sides. they like what she's saying and her optimism. what she will do in remaining days in new hampshire and what she will do in south carolina is what she has been doing, telling american people what her vision is and she will deliver on it. >> shannon: congressman, you heard senator vanceshe is attracting liberal voters and people don't care about gop ideals and will not be a winning strategy in the general election. what do you make of his commentses? >> senator vance knows you don't

ask if you are democrat or republican? and that is what nikki haley does. nikki gives people a reason to vote for her, that is what is attractive about her and why she's gaining. people like what they see and polls show that and she'll do well in new hampshire, do well in south carolina. >> shannon: so you were once a supporter of president trump and you voted against votes on january 6, what reason did you pivot to support one of his biggest rivals? >> a couple of things. i called president trump, his policies were greats, what he did is great. it is time for a change, shannon. i think the youths, nikki just turned 52, she's 25 years younger than donald trump. i'm sorry, when you have a

president like the pressures they are going to be facing and what they have to do to attract new talent to congress and senate, you have to go to work doing that. nikki will do that. the other big thing people need to know, donald trump can only give you four years, that is like a football team can only play half the game. it will take eight years to get this country straight. nikki's youth and fact she can give eight years. the last year is political, like you are seeing now and president trump will be tied up in legal fights and we need somebody that can come in and work. the criticism that he's had of her, only reason he's doing that, because she is gaining in the polls. he knows she is a serious threat and it is a two-person race now. >> shannon: talk about one of

the critiques, he says you will have eight years potentially of war. her foreign policy. >> nikki haley is backed by the deep state and military industrial complex. she's never seen a war he doesn't like. >> shannon: he called her a global aft, what is your response? >> then why did he pick her? one of the greatest picks he made. why did he praise her for toughness and way she dealt with israel, with the capital. no, that is political talk and donald trump knows that. same thing, he got her confused yesterday with nancy pelosi on the january 6 with the national guard. i would say 25 years ago, he would not have made that mistake. he said nikki haley did this with the national guard. he was talking about peenancy

desantis campaign. good to see you. both polls are dire for your candidate, suffolk poll and sensation poll have governor desantis just 6%. there is talk about why he cancelled appearances on the sunday shows. is it because he doesn't want to talk about the numbers? >> we never had expectations for iowa anyway. i'll be going to new hampshire later today, but the real fight is in south carolina where nikki haley stumbles. she's going to miss expectations and not win her own state. >> shannon: talk about governor desantis and the fact he's tried to make his pitch in u wa, new hampshire, south carolina and he's a governor he says who gets things done. you ask me to do something, i have success rate, here is my legislative record and he's contrasted that against both

saying trump had a number of things he did not get done. why do you think that is not resonating better? choice of policy ver voters? >> let me talk about that difference and why it might not be resonating. what i hear from people back home, that nobody is held accountable in washington. trump did not build the wall, he did not get mexico to pay for it. he ran up debts, fumbled repeal of obamacare, so many missed promise. gave accommodation and award to dr. fauci and hasn't held anyone at cd responsible. hold that guy responsible and contrast that with desantis, he reduced debt in florida, fired soros das, got wokeness out of

universities and banned china from buying land there. he has a great contrast. they won't debate him now, neither nikki haley or the president because his record is so stellar and neither of them have much to run on. why is it not resonating? because people have rallied to trump's defense because he's been attacked four times. this summer, they're going to be litigating cases in court and indictments will ripen into conviction and we'll talk about whether to pay a porn star with your campaign money or write it off as business expense. the lawsuit is ridiculous, the underlying facts are not disputed and people will recoil from that this summer when it comes out. polls show him beating biden, those will switch quickly. >> shannon: a lot of folks i

talk to, who are trump supporters say those cases only made them double down in sports, we'll see if that continues as things progres. you are one of few people in congress comcampaigning for someone who is not president trump. you tuesday is a political risk. how much do you think the endorsements are about fear of president trump versus love his policy, think he is best candidate. what kind of price might you pay if he wins? >> i have the truanti-bodies. it funded the mail-in ballot and spent 2 million, contrast that with ron desantis, he called me up while everybody was hating on me and said i'm going to open our economy and make sure kids go to school. trump came at me and i won my

reelection, i'm not worried about it. a lot of endorsements aren't wholehearted, they are afraid he'll get involved in their primary or if he does win, he'll be vin dickative. ron desantis can work with anybody, no vindicationing expected after he wins, it is sort of bullying tactics from the former president. >> shannon: if he finishes third here as he is expected to in new hampshire and north carolina, what is future path for him? >> that is a great question. he was second in iowa and she was third, she'll be second and he'll be third in new hampshire. she's not on the ballot in nevada and ron is. then we go to south carolina, where she will lose this. only way you can beat trump is if it is head-to-head race between two people. is that person going to be nikki haley or ron desantis?

heaven forbid our nominee should be somebody to attract voters from outside the party, that message is against her and at the homeland security given what we're seeing in polls and so forth and given reduced expectations announced by people supporting her, she is looking for second place and hopes it will be close but doesn't look that way. >> shannon: harold, president biden is not on the ticket here, we'll explain that about what will happen with the dnc. he's got folks saying it could be embarrassing that he lost the first democratic contest, though unsanctioned. >> harold: we'll see, thank you for having me on. president biden, takeaway for democrats, two things. first border security is number one on republican minds and independent minds even if you are not a border state.

two, the chaos around president trump is not going to go away, not because it is not going away from legal issues, you have desantis and haley raising that and that will be used like things dean phillips may be saying about president biden will be used against him. banking on women's health choice and rights are in the forefront and two, the economy continues to improve. if we find ourselves with a different economic state and mood on part of the american voter, president biden will be in a better position. biden has a challenge, majority of democrats wish there might be another person running on top of the ticket. i wish i i was six seven, i'm not. we will attract voters concerned about chaos and women's health
