these taking in the millions that have come into the presidential race, hundreds of millions in the last few weeks. you are in the running to replace mitch mcconnell as a top republican. what will your priorities be should you achieve that post and how might it differ if you are dealing with the harris and tim walz and administration? >> when he's reelected along with my colleague j.d. vance i expect we will be helping them administration past their agenda. i don't see a lot of daylight between lower republicans and the senate want to do or know we need to do. things like reauthorize the expiring tax cuts and jobs act. we need to reestablish our self and our information is the preeminent leader in the world when it comes to national security matters under president biden. our friends don't trust us and our enemies don't fear us. it was the opposite under president trump. so we'll be working very closely with the administration to

accomplish their priorities and i don't see it as i see a lot of daylight between what my colleagues in the senate want to do next year, we are going to have to also look at the debts, we are now spending more money on interest on the national debt then we are on defence. and wright now, the world has gotten more dangerous and more dangerous since world war ii. we have a lot of heavy lifting to do. it will help the bigger our majority is. >> list all of the tax cuts. from the president on down saying they are rich guy with those kind of tax cuts that actually leave a revenue lag for the federal government and the contributed things. >> american people are not under tax the federal government stems -- spends too pretty much. >> both parties do that? >> there some complicity there is pressure during covid-19 there was a lot of bipartisan

efforts to keep our economy afloat and help deal with this pandemic. but there has been a lot of partisan spending on the inflation fire. do $.7 trillion post covid we are at an inflection point, part of the problem is we spend money in ways that are not just appropriations we spend $1.8 trillion in the tax bill. there's about $200 billion alone spent through the child tax credit and the income tax credit. and for those but i think they also need to be set and paid for. we need to look at all of that $6 trillion of federal spending and determine what our priorities are as a nation. i think that's our job. >> we are also getting to the end of government funding with a continuing resolution of the short-term financial band-aid, it looks like the house is going to send it over with that act attach which media are registering to vote with the

federal election you have to show proof you are a u.s. citizen. number senate democrats say that done on arrival and it will not happen. how are you out -- are you about this pain back and forth and facing a shut down? will that her republicans with the final stretch of an election? >> in a sane world, this act would be noncontroversial. essentially it's a national voter i.d. and i would think both parties to be wanting to protect the integrity of the ballot and making sure people only legally qualify and do so. it's amazing to me and i don't think there will be a shut down. the house will have to move first and they have to get to 218 and then it comes to the senate. i hope we have a debate and an opportunity to vote on it. i imagine that this senator is happy about having his incumbents, who run top senate races, voting against a bill that just says he have to be an american citizen to vote. >> that will be the next couple of weeks. we want touch on the board

anyone who wants a job can get one because we have record low unemployment. donald trump is advertising he's going to bring back the same kind of chaotic economic policies and same investment in the top 1% corporations that helps drive our economies. >> what he will say his property was down in homeownership with -- was up and gas was that to thirtysomething a galley -- i gallant. you'll probably be happy to stand on his policies. when we poll people they say they were doing better under president trump and they have done under this a administration. they do have a head-to-head comparison where we go from here. with the burst of inflation in 2022 not the supply chain. i'm no mit scholar saul defer to them but he says it was the massive spending talking about people on both sides of the aisle voted for under this a

administration. there was tough things where the vice president was the tie-breaking vote and she says probably on the reduction act what biden said this week they should have named that because that's not what it was. >> look at that chart though. may start to decrease and stunning levels. growing manufacturing jobs all over the country. cutting prescription drug costs for the senior citizens, i'm proud of the fact that we are doing our part to try and clean up the environment and that legislation finally took on the drug industry and said we are not going to put seniors in a position where they go bankrupt because of their prescription drug costs, donald trump was an office for four years and he did nothing to take power away from the drug industry. prescription drug prices skyrocketed under donald trump, the inflation reduction act for the first time did something about transferring power from the drug industry to regular people. that's the difference between these two candidates. don't trouble put power in the hands of big corporations, he's promised the big oil industry he

will do anything they want as long as they donate a billion dollars to his reelection campaign. kamala harris says he's going to continue to take power away from big oil companies and drug companies and insurance companies and put that back in the hands of a glare people. >> one is arguing points is he does want to enable you know, the industry's and gas industry to do more production. he says we should be dependent on places that don't have our best interest at heart. >> ask yourself this. we are reproducing more domestic oil and gas under donald trump or under joe biden and kamala harris. we are producing more domestic oil and gas today under joe biden and kamala harris than under donald trump. what we are also doing is making historic new investments in renewable energy. bringing pretty much more wind power and solar pallet -- power onto the grid. with what they have shown we

weren't doing other we were drooling for less oil and exploring less gas and we weren't doing anything about the climate crisis. >> wittstock was only put out this time. the joint committee on taxation they say that would actually mean the lowest income americans would be paying higher taxes because of that they say higher corporate taxes are past along to consumers employees and investors with the terms of high prices and lower wages and investment returns. and he buy things, have a job, or save for retirement higher corporate income taxes will fawn you no matter how it times they tried to pretend otherwise. >> obviously this is the argument made by the billionaire class and the corporate class. >> by the joint committee on taxation. >> if you raise on us we will just pass those down to other people. people want tax fairness in this country. they are sick and tired of these

massive american companies paying 0% tax rates. that some of the biggest companies in the country and what they were paying. zero under donald trump. there is nobody in this country. republicans or democrats a thing this is fair except for donald trump so yes, kamala harris believes if you are a corporation in this country you should pay some taxes yes. she believes if you're making a billion dollars as an economy you should pay for our schools, you should help try to make our communities safer. i'll think americans believe this argument that by raising taxes by couple percentage points on a handful of billionaires that is ultimately we'll ruin the economy. kamala harris also said she will cut taxes on small businesses and will use the money that we raise in higher taxes for billing areas and transfer that said tax cuts for small businesses and lower income taxpayers. >> has to work out somewhere so that will mean more taxes they say that false everyone. we'll see what she doesn't congress if she issuance they were were coming in. >> thank you appreciate it.

role in the biden debate. >> it did work for him from the first debate but i do think that message from the harris campaign is nothing more than a head fake. it's meant to again beat the president into a personal debate, i think the harris campaign would love nothing more than if this debate was all about personality and persona and not about policy because as long as the debate's focus on policy that means kamala harris has to explain the differences between kamala harris four years ago and kamala harris now. which i think it is an opportunity for president trump to attack her on if the debate is about personality and she can get under his skin, i think that's pretty much better territory for the harris campaign. >> real quick as well as at a time. what is your one best piece of advice for you for the trump campaign? >> keep it focused on policy, not about persona. >> jim what is your piece of advice for the harris team?

he can say connection to the reality on the ground what happening right now what people are feeling how people who are not goldman sachs, he can make that point of that division, he wins in the reality on the ground because he says look what your life was like four years ago a look at it now and compare the two. i think that's what he has to drill down on. >> that's what this opinion piece is week is. if trump's policies were so terrible, why do sunni people thing they were better off during his presidency. why were small business owners and consumers consistently more upbeat then they have been during the biden-harris years. how does she navigate that reality check who get every day when they by groceries? >> i think you will have a certain nostalgia about the past. joe biden's numbers have gone way up since he decided... >> now that he's off the ticket.
