alive. some pointed to the rising crime in the bay area, but the truth is this murder is personal. in the pre-dawn hours, on a dark san francisco street, a frantic call. there's a male screaming help saying, someone stabbed me. and as he's bleeding out, he is outside on the stree. he was bob lee, the multi-million dollar founder of the tech company cash app, lying in a pool of blood on a city street, a bunch of his friends convinced him to stay one extra day, and that's the day that he was killed. for those who knew him best, the brilliant bob lee was unlike any other. 1.7 billion adults remain unbanked. described as a tech genius who had the insight and the know how to come up with really big ideas. san francisco bar owner doug dalton is part of bob's inner circle of friends. he was always willing to help his
1:34 pm
friends, and that's exactly why bob's violent, stabbing death hit everyone so hard. with one question who wanted him so brazenly murdered? this footage, first obtained by daily mail, shows lee stumbling outside an apartment building at 2:35 a.m. he's been stabbed and looking for help. lee collapses to the ground and dies from the attack. it was just utterly heartbreaking because i'd been with him the day before, just 24 hours before, bob lee was posing with friends over sushi and drinks before heading out on a trip. we've been on this round the clock from the start, surveillance photos and interviews with those who were with him show what few saw coming. as soon as that happened, the first thing i wanted to find out was who he was with. dalton reached out to everyone he knew was with bob. that party filled evening, he says they noticed that the
1:35 pm
brother of a woman, who is described as a close friend, nima momeni, was growing increasingly agitated. we can confirm that mr. lee and mr. momeni knew each other, and dalton says nima momeni was upset that his adult sister, kazu momeni, had too much to drink and bob lee was trying to calm him down. surveillance photos show bob lee and nima momeni together inside a hotel elevator, where lee was staying. later, the two were outside the hotel and eventually make their way toward a car he absolutely hated. when people were upset with him. he left with nima feeling very confident that everything was squashed and apparently nima had other things in mind. mr. momani was taken into custody without incident. nima momeni was charged with the murder of bob lee. prosecutors say his sister sent a text message to lee that shows nima
1:36 pm
was the aggressor. she wrote, i just want to make sure you're doing okay, because i know nima came down way down hard on you. and thank you for being a classy man. prosecutors allege in court documents that momeni used a kitchen knife to attack lee, saying that immediately after stabbing lee, momeni threw the kitchen knife and fled the scene at a high rate of speed and left lee to die slowly. nima momeni is standing trial right now. if convicted, he faces 26 years to life in prison. joining me now is christian kafton of fox two in san francisco. let's talk about the bloody knife that was found. do we know if that's the murder weapon? the prosecution has said that they have found bob lee's blood on the blade. they also indicated that they found his dna on the handle of that knife. the new defense team may have a new strategy about
1:37 pm
exactly how that knife ties in, including the fact that it likely came from the home of napoleon's sister. so there would be a plausible reason why his dna could be on that knife. and so what do you make of this night of partying? will that factor at all into this trial? the autopsy took a while to come back because they needed to get those toxicology reports, including looking at what was in bob lee's system. and that included cocaine, alcohol and ketamine. that, again, is sure to be part of the defense strategy, trying to figure out what kind of state bob lee may have been in. well christian, thank you so much for your coverage. and we will be keeping a watch on this one. now, a man, a wife and a mistress. it is the oldest story in the book, but this one has extra unbelievable chapters that just keep coming. one of the three in this deadly love triangle won't make it out alive. bexar county 911. what is your location in this very spot, just off the edge of loop 1604, in san antonio, texas. three lives collided. francis hall,
