hospital. but police later learned three other victims took themselves to the hospital and one of those victims died. police tell us the other three are still being treated at the hospital. the third happened on 24th avenue around 345 this morning. police have not confirmed what happened there, but in video from the scene you can see a body and a large police presence investigating there. now this all happened overnight, but there was also a deadly shooting yesterday morning. a man was shot outside his work. a commercial dishwashing supplier on 14th street. that was just before 715 in the morning. he was pronounced dead at the scene. now, although this is a deadly end to 2024, crime was actually down in the city overall last year. just two days ago, city leaders touted a safer oakland, saying the city has seen a 34% decrease in homicides, and they're crediting the ceasefire prevention strategy for a lot of that progress, which identifies people at high risk of being

involved in gun violence and then offers them services like life coaching, job training and mental health care. staffers say they contacted more than 200 people for that program in 2024. now we are working on getting some more information about that most recent incident from police, but of course, they have had a busy last 24 hours. live in oakland amanda quintana ktvu, fox two news. >> all right. thank you amanda will the new year started out deadly in san francisco as well. we want to show you some video that was taken around 3:00 this morning at a gas station that's on the corner of 17th and south van ness. you can see that tent which is covering up a body. homicide detectives, sfpd and the san francisco medical examiner were all on scene. we are working on getting some more information from police about what happened and about the person who was killed. >> our time is now 908. we have new video into the ktvu newsroom showing how not to celebrate the new year. last night, the police
