six. >> and good evening, everyone. i'm mike mibach. >> and i'm claudine wong. we begin in the south bay, where city officials confirm immigration operations were carried out today. the group rapid response network in santa clara county shared this message on social media today about an alert it received on its hotline, warning ice agents were outside two homes in san jose. the group says its teams responded but did not see any immigration agents. >> san jose mayor matt mahan's office did release a statement confirming the raid, saying in part, as jpd does not assist with or participate in these operations in any way, i sincerely hope that ice remains focused on enforcement actions related to violent and serious criminals harming our city, not neighbors who are contributing and law abiding members of our community. and tonight we are getting word about more raids in colorado and illinois. president trump's so-called border czar joined other top administration officials in chicago for the start of what they call ramped

up immigration enforcement. >> this, as the deportation plans for illegal immigrants, is sparking a trade dispute with colombia. colombia's president ordering an increase in tariffs on u.s. goods in response to a similar order announced earlier today by president trump. as fox's c.b. cotton reports, the back and forth began after colombia denied landing permission to two u.s. military flights carrying migrants. >> one week into the new trump white house. the administration says it's keeping its promises to crack down on illegal immigration. an early morning raid in colorado sunday took nearly 50 people into custody. some members of the venezuelan gang trend aragua at a rally saturday in las vegas, trump said the gangs days are numbered. >> they're as bad as the bloodthirsty ms. 13 gangs that we have gotten all over the place. we'll get them out, we'll get them out. >> all this following up on a campaign pledge for the largest deportation operation in history, the removal of an estimated 11 million people. but

like her friend forever, you know? and i do feel really bad. i miss her a lot. >> family and friends headed to oakley civic center park for the second annual kindness day in honor of alexis gabe, who was killed in january of 2022. amy george met gabe in middle school. they became fast friends. george and her family left candles at gabe's memorial bench in the park on sunday. >> you know, guardian angel. because, you know, i feel like she's pretty much everybody's at this point. >> gabe's family and community were disappointed to learn that contra costa county district attorney diana becton would not be charging the suspected killer's mother with accessory after the fact. video shared with ktvu shows the suspect in gabe's killing unloading two trash bags into his mother's garage. law enforcement says the two bags contained gabe's remains. three bags of remains were later found in amador county, but the second bag went missing and was never tested. >> the amador county, they have a report that they have it, they

receive it. so i just confused how, you know, they lost it and they they took, you know, how many years before they telling us that it's missing? >> da becton's refusal to charge coleman clarke has sparked new momentum in the recall effort against her. >> it's not a retribution for us joining the recall, it's just that it's not just us. there's a lot of families who have that. she failed. >> the gabe family says they must now move forward, knowing alexis will never receive justice, but they say she will never be forgotten. >> we just want to thank everyone for coming out and also for always being there. >> she had a lot of good style and she had really good taste, and she was always really funny. so if anything, even if, you know, for kindness day, even if you just make somebody laugh, that is like on point. alexis. >> now, today marks the end of a chapter that the gabe family did not want to see closed, but they

are prepared for what comes next, and they are questioning how someone could have lost some what may have been key evidence in their daughter's killing. mike. >> claudine certainly still a lot of questions and our thoughts are with them tonight. all right. tori gaines reporting live. thank you so much for that report. >> well, more ghost guns off the streets of san jose. police say they located unregistered and privately manufactured guns inside a vehicle. last night. officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver abandoned the vehicle and then fled on foot in the area of tolay road and 101. police searched the car and found these guns. the suspect was also eventually located and booked into the county jail in vallejo. police are releasing photos from their response to a couple of sideshows. last night, two people were issued misdemeanors for participating and their cars were impounded for 30 days. police say they also broke up a large sideshow involving 200 vehicles and hundreds of people. 13 misdemeanors were issued there. two people were arrested and four cars were impounded.

one vehicle was also set on fire during that sideshow. >> now to southern california, where firefighters are bracing for a new challenge. rain and potential mudslides and debris flows. a wet weather system moved into the los angeles area this morning. it's the first rain since last spring, and while it's good news for controlling the fires, it brings with it the threat of slides in the hillsides of the fire zone. >> are concerned now with the mud and debris flow potential. is that a lot of these homes are in the foothill area. the vegetation is gone. a lot of the toxins that are in these hillsides will be coming down. >> the national weather service has issued flood watch alerts in many of the same areas hit hardest by the wildfires. and here's a look at the fire containment numbers. cal fire says the palisades fire is now 87% contained after burning more than 23,000 acres. the eden fire in altadena is 95% contained after burning more than 14,000 acres, and the hughes fire near

castaic lake is 92% contained. after charring more than 10,000 acres. vice president jd vance today accused the u.s. conference of catholic bishops of being solely focused on money after it came out against president trump's repeal of a rule that limited immigration enforcement near places of worship and schools. >> i think that the u.s. conference of catholic bishops needs to actually look in the mirror a little bit and recognize that when they receive over $100 million to help resettle illegal immigrants, are they worried about humanitarian concerns or are they actually worried about their bottom line? we are going to enforce immigration law. we're going to protect the american people. donald trump promised. >> the u.s. conference of catholic bishops said last week the new immigration crackdown at schools and churches were, quote, deeply troubling and will harm the most vulnerable among us. >> the cia says it believes the covid 19 virus likely emerged from a research lab in china. but it also says it has low confidence in that very

assessment in a report released yesterday. the agency says this assessment is not based on new evidence, but a fresh look at several factors, including how the virus spread and the conditions of china's labs. the cia report says, quote, both research related and natural origin scenarios of the covid 19 pandemic remain plausible. a spokesman for china's u.s. embassy said the report has been politicized and lacks credibility. >> hamas has agreed to hand over three more hostages on thursday, and in return, israel will allow displaced palestinians to return to northern gaza as early as tomorrow morning. also, the white house says israel and lebanon have agreed to extend the 60 day deadline for israeli troops to withdraw from southern lebanon. israel says its troops need to stay beyond february 18th, because the lebanese army has not deployed to all areas of southern lebanon to ensure that hezbollah does not reestablish its presence in that area. >> well, tomorrow marks holocaust remembrance day and the 80th anniversary of the

liberation of auschwitz-birkenau concentration camp. the camp in poland was the largest and most infamous of the holocaust. more than 1 million people were murdered at that complex alone. the holocaust resulted in the genocide of more than 6 million jewish people, along with millions of other minorities, by nazi germany between 1933 through 1945. the commemoration is scheduled for tomorrow at auschwitz-birkenau. the white house announced a u.s. delegation will attend. elon musk is facing criticism from jewish community leaders for comments he made last night at a rally for germany's far right party. this video was shared on social media. musk, who made the appearance virtually, told the crowd that germans need to move beyond the guilds of the country's nazi past. the chairman of israel's holocaust memorial said musk's comments are dangerous and that failing to remember and acknowledge germany's dark past would be an insult to victims of the holocaust and, quote, a clear danger to the democratic future of germany, end quote. musk recently faced criticism for a

flower market in san francisco's chinatown. the two day event took over grant avenue. lining the streets with dozens of booths, there were white and purple flowers, as well as a variety of houseplants. there were also fresh fruit, including oranges, which do represent abundant happiness. one vendor says the market is a great way to help people shop for the holiday. >> this would draw a lot of people to chinatown. yeah, and people are so happy right now. the money tree, a lot of things, you know, that people that they celebrate in the chinese new year. >> the next big event for the new year will be an opening ceremony wednesday at portsmouth square. >> all righty. it's going to be a cold one again tonight. a frost advisory and a freeze watch for parts of the bay area. it all started with this low. this is a long range model. but this low down here, down by la. brought some scattered showers to us this morning. like 0.01.02. the long range model kicks the low out eventually and then watch what happens. this is towards the weekend. so that's

friday. clouds and rain. looks like friday. looks wet. not much for southern california, but more of a typical weather pattern for us. and we could see a half inch of rain from this system, so we'll keep our eyes on that. the models are moving around a little bit, but this weekend looks different than last weekend in terms of precipitation, so let's hope that's that's the case. there is the frost advisory and the freeze watch. and you can see the frost advisory is in that kind of blue color freeze watch in the purple. that's going to last through wednesday pretty much overnight lows. and then on thursday the clouds start to come in. the air mass modifies and we get an opportunity for some rain. right. things warm up when it rains. this is the forecast overnight lows tonight. again you don't have to be freezing to have frost. and in fact we will see frost in pretty much almost all bay area counties. some part of it the forecast are the highs from today mild. it was. it's been a warm week like we had temperatures last week. on thursday when i left my last day i think 74 degrees in san jose on thursday. i mean that's really warm for this time of year. we have lots of 60s and

low 70s today, much cooler. last couple of days have been much cooler. and that's we're not going to get back into the 70s for a while now. outside we go. beautiful night, clear night. light winds. that's enough to get you cold air. la got some rain. they got you can see it down here. this is the system and they're still getting some rain. they have flood watches and things like that down there. but overall it's been i it strikes me as very beneficial this rainfall. there is an opportunity for a slide or something like that because of the burn scars. but i feel in some ways that is manageable considering you're getting fire containment on all these fires by the end of the day tomorrow. all these fires should be contained almost 100%. here are the forecast highs for tomorrow, just like today. and then as we go into the week ahead, we got some showers in the forecast, but not right away. it cools off on thursday next few days. kind of steady as she goes. cold nights, mild days and then thursday a few clouds. and then friday, saturday and sunday clouds and a chance of showers
